"We opted to come here for the Onsen and the public Onsen was beautiful; however there are no pictures allowed. I took a solo picture before I saw the sign and the hotel was aware, I wonder if there were cameras? The private Onsens did not match the pictures the hotel proposed. It was great to experience the natural Onsen, nonetheless! Beautiful! Only wish was you can rent that as a private vs. sharing with a bunch of other individuals. "

"We did not have many options left for Zao but really enjoyed our stay. Pros: +Pick up/transportation provided +Less than 10 min walk from the bus station(may be a bit difficult to spot the place as it's kind of situated behind another facility) +Nice dinner, breakfast. We did not really like they actually charge for drinks though. (It's okay for wine and stuff but having to pay extra for tea is a downer) +The room is clean and spacious. They provide amenities and even have Yukata. +The hot spring in house is really nice. (Very small though. It fits like maximum 4 people at the same time) Cons: +The friendliness of the staff varies. Some are really warm but some are a bit distant. +We had a few bugs getting into the room. Can't be helped given the natural surroundings but I hope they can improve on that somehow. (We dealt with the bugs by ourselves anyway) 夕食と朝食付きプランで美味しく山形名物を堪能できました。小さいですが(最大4人入れますが、2人でもちょっと狭いくらい)、温泉付きで滞在中は何回か入浴してとてもくつろげました。 受付あたりにアイスが販売されていたので温泉上がりに美味しく頂きました。 バス停とロープウェイまで全然徒歩範囲ですが、送迎もしてくれたので特にロープウェイ帰りは大変助かりました。(不動滝まで行ったら帰りはかなり疲れます)"

"We were a family of three. Spent one night at Hammond & were very impressed by the ryokan staff! They tried their very best to accomodate us, drove us back & forth between Hammond & cable car station, gave constructive ideas about the hiking trail. The ryokan itself is dated but generally it is clean & organised. The hot spring is small but traditional & "authentic". Food is delicious. Shabushabu (hot pot) for dinner and breakfast is hearty. Will recommend this place to others! Thank you Hammond!"
