Great location, friendly and helpful staff, lots of info regarding tours, great price”
Xian Han Tang House is a great hostel to stay at for the following reasons: 1) Great location, within 10 mins to the nearest train station and walkable distance to many sightseeing places e.g Tang Dynasty Show, Xian City Wall 2) The room I stayed at was quite spacious and very clean. Bathroom facilities were top notch. 3) Staff were extremely polite and helpful with arranging tours. Special mention to the staff for taking me to the Tang Dynasty Show. They took me me there via taxi and paid for the taxi fare. Staff also arranged free tours of the city e,g bird market tour and invited all guests to nightly activities e.g beer pong, dumpling cooking classes In addition, special mention to staff member Sherry. On the morning of my departure, I lost my passport. Fortunately, when I realised that I had lost it at the airport shuttle bus station, she was there to greet me and provided me with my passport. 4) Lots of useful information at the hostel. The staff provided me with a map of the city with tourist spots and available tours. There was also information regarding shuttle buses to the airport. 5) Room price per night was excellent, felt more like a hotel than a hostel. At just under $22 pp / night. I will definitely stay there again

Excellent hostel with 3 star hotel facilities”
My girlfriend and I had a very enjoyable stay at Han Tang house. We stayed in the superior double bed private room. Han Tang House is located close to Bell and Drum towers, and also the city wall. Apart from what other guests have written, I would like to recommend everyone to pack your own shampoo and shower gel before you arrive, even thou they are on sale in the room. This hotel can be compared to any 3 star hotel. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom and nice and clean, and the hotel was quiet- Han Tang house is all you need for short and longer stay in Xian. We also enjoyed the breakfast downstairs, even thou it's a little pricey for China. The staff also could speak good English and helped us in every way they could. Han Tang house is perfectly designed for the western tourists, therefore it will be very difficult for anyone to find a better place to stay in Xian, unless you stay in a 5 star hotel and pay 10 times more. We will certainly stay at Han Tang house on our next visit to Xian.

Excellent and very good value”
I would definitely recommend Xian Han Tang House. It is about an 8 minute walk from the Bell Tower. The vibe is excellent, more like a cafe/bar and then with the rooms upstairs - as a solo traveller it was great to be able to hang out and talk to other travellers like myself. They offer a large number of extra tourist options on site that are priced very reasonably e.g. visit to Terracota warriors, majiang evening, dumpling evening etc. The rooms are basic but clean and good value for money. The staff speak english and are very helpful. It may be difficult for taxi drivers to find (they know the square - 新城广场（xin cheng guangchang) but generally not the alley that the hostel is on because it is a very small lane.

A fun, comfortable place.”
Our stay was fine. There are plenty of travelers here, so you won't feel like your on your own. That is until the around 9pm at night. Locals come here for the drink specials and take up a lot of the space upstairs. The locals chain smoke, spit on the ground, and are served by the staff there, while all the travelers I saw had to get their own drinks. This bothered me. On top of this the 'classless' locals were given snack bowls to chew on, while the travelers staying there were offered none. Quite out right, this is a two tier service establishment, discriminating between locals and travelers. Other than that gripe, the hostel was a good base for sightseeing and adventure in Xian. The breakfast was amazingly good. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. Han Tang House has a sister hostel a hundred metres down the lane, called The Han Tang Inn. It had great upstairs patio, which we found more enjoyable than the cafe at the Han Tang House. The Inn also seemed more or less 'traveler only'.

Incredible value, good location”
We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Han Tang House. Definitely our favorite hotel in China so far. We stayed in a private room, which was super cheap and just the right size for the two of us. The beds were so comfy (Western mattresses, yay!) and the shower was actually separate (not wet-room style). The location was good, you could easily walk to the Muslim Quarter, Drum and Bell Towers, city wall, metro station, or grocery store. Wifi was alright for China. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and although we didn't participate in any they had nightly group activities. We booked a Terra Cotta warrior tour through them, which was cheaper than most tour options online and was organized and informative (the site doesn't have many informational signs, so I definitely recommend a tour). (Lady) Jiajie was our tour guide. She spoke English well and we enjoyed the tour, although we felt we maybe could've used a little more time in the pits. Overall highly recommend Han Tang!

Staying at the Han Tang House was a great! Overall, the staff was very friendly (especially Rachel). We were not given a double bed when we arrived because there were some 'problems' with availablity. Instead, we were given a Superior twin bedroom (private) which we did not think was a big deal. Rachel told us that we could get the superior room with a double bed for our second day (which was what we paid for) after our Terracotta Warrior trip (which was btw amazing + the tour guide, "Lady Jaja" was funny and spoke English pretty well!). The following day; and once we got back, we went to the reception expecting a new room and Wendy, the (irritated) receptionist at the time (if I remember correctly), told us off saying, "Why didn't you ask earlier?!" - which we obviously did-.-. Apart from her, the staff were really nice and helpful. The breakfast were pretty pricey for China- it was a bit over 100rmb for me and my boyfriend; but the portions were huge haha. The atmosphere was great especially in the evenings as there are perfomances while you chill in their bar. Clean rooms with wi-fi + comfy beds + friendly staff + cheap + great location + great atmosphere= We highly recommend Han Tang House! :)

Lovely hotel with generous rooms and bathrooms”
Pros: Good location, about 15 mins from airport bus (26 yuen) drop off at the Melody Hotel and near the metro. Large clean rooms and bathrooms, nice communal restaurant/bar area, good western food options. Tours available at reception. Laundry available Cons: Food is relatively expensive (though delicious) Wi Fi was just being installed in the rooms at the time but not yet functional other than in the communal area - it should be available in the rooms by now though :) NB: The sister Youth Hostel (Han Tang Inn Hostel) which appears on Google Maps is located on the same alleyway. Han Tang House is definitely more of a "flashpacker" hotel located a little further down the road on the other side of the street.

Best hostel I've found in China”
I've stayed at many hostels at many different cities in China. Han Tang House was by far the best. Value for money was great. I booked private rooms with ensuite bathrooms for $20 a night. The entire place was clean and not falling apart like others I have experienced. The staff was incredibly accommodating; arranging airport pickup and car service over Wechat. They also were happy to provide extra pillows and towels for my parents with no extra charge or deposit. The AC worked perfectly well. And to top it all off, the coffee and sandwich we bought in the morning was really good. Overall, I don't expect much of hostels for this price, but this place was a gem. It's a 10 minute walk to the Bell Tower & Muslim Street. Definitely a great place to stay.

Great inexpensive private room at great hostel”
We stayed three nights at Xian Han Tang House. Although it is more a hostel than a hotel, we had a private double room which was still quite inexpensive and definitely great value for money. The hotel is very close to the city centre (Bell Tower), so it is perfect for sightseeing. We even arranged a visit to the Terracotta Warriors with them and it was one of the highlights of our trip to China. The staff was correct although not particularly friendly. Breakfast was not included but the Jamaica Blue coffee serves very nice Western breakfasts, not very cheap but indeed very tasty. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and bar but not in the rooms.

Fun place to stay in a great location”
We stayed at the Han Tang House for three nights and loved it. It is in a great location within walking distance of nearly everything you'd want to see in downtown Xi'an. If you're not up for walking, a bus stop is just around the corner. The rooms themselves were great, with wifi (a little slow, but better than what I've used elsewhere in China) and a clean and modern feel. For the price, they are phenomenal! The bar/restaurant downstairs is a bit pricey, but the food is excellent. Local food and many western restaurants are a 5-10 minute walk away. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Their English was pretty good. We took the Terra Cotta Warriors tour, which I would also recommend. Overall, a great place worthy of its top spot!

Awesome Staff”
The location of Xi'An Han Tang House was great as it was walking distance to many shops, The Bell Tower and the metro, but the real jewel in the crown was the staff! Dora (trainee), Claris (trainee), Rose and the others were top notch, they went above and beyond to help us out. I had purchased a wifi router to use on the rest of our trip, Dora called to help get issues related to the sim card resolved, and then not once but TWICE went with me to China Mobiles offices to get a new card as well as top it up for me online! All the while being super pleasant, cheerful and concerned for my well being as it was raining pretty hard that day! Claris helped out a few times with booking and provided loads of information as did Rose. Oh if your going to stop by, try the grapefruit flavoured beer that was on special there! Other than the staff and the location, the place was clean, the food selection was pretty nice and there were loads of tours available as well as ride sharing options & taxi service! I would recommend staying here to anyone, and would visit again!

Great hotel full of... American people”
Free Wifi only in the bar and at the reception. It almost feels like a western place. Great for people who want to have a break in their Chinese trips or are simply fed up with Chinese culture, food, beer for a short while... Even the music played is American/British. I appreciated all the information given at Han Tang House for visiting the city, Good recommendations and advice to foreigners! I'd have liked so more Chinese stuff though.

I enjoyed my stay at the Xian Han Tang House and have recommended it to other travelers. The bed was nice and soft and my room was large and comfortable. I did the tour to the Terracotta Warriors which was informative and efficient. I loved the vegetarian options in the restaurant...grilled veggie sandwiches, veggie pasta and delicious salads. I have told several people to stay here and would stay there again if I am ever in Xian.

though a bit out of our budget, we had a great time staying in han tang house. The most comfortable bed we had in China so far, great rainshower and even a Movie chanel in English! the only downside was we spent too much money eating in the hostel restaurant, which is good but quite pricy...

I was totally shocked when I walked into Han Tang, The ambiance was warm and friendly, staff very helpful, clean and tidy room very modern and the food was great. I certainly would stay there again and highly recommend it to any traveller - you dont have to be a back packer and pay enormous rates

Great hostel, great location”
Had a fantastic stay in the hostel which is better than a lot of the guesthouses we have stayed in in Asia. Fantastic location, within walking distance to a lot of the sites and a nearby metro station to take you further afield. The staff are friendly and helpful making difficult things like booking train tickets much easier. The rooms are good, clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was that our room was very dark at night even with all the lights on, reading was impossible without a torch. We did several of the trips from the hostel which where reasonably priced and good. The main thing being no shopping detours included. The food was good, the Asian menu being more reasonably priced than the western style food. Breakfast was a bit expensive for us so we did tend to go out for that and beer was also quite expensive but you can pop next door to a local hotpot restaurant and get a litre for 5 Yuan. Overall we enjoyed our week here and would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Xian, highly recommended.

Nice place to stay inside the city walls”
Han Tang house is down an alley close to a few other popular hostels. It was very easy to get to by taking the subway from the train station. The rooms have bathrooms with a toilet and separate shower in the dorm rooms, which was very useful. Overall great place, it was a bit dated and the rooms are rather dark. The staff very very helpful with directions and advice.
