Idyllic beach bungalow experience ”
We've been to Koh Samet about 20 times in 5 years and friends have always recommended Tubtim Resort. We stubbornly returned to a different hotel time and again. This time around we decided to try Tubtim and we are so mad we didn't listen to our friends years ago! Tubtim is our favourite beach on the island. Its calm quiet clean and no Chinese tour groups! There are a few restaurants and a cool beach bar too. Tubtim Resort is vast and there are many toom typea available- we stayed in an A type room (a garden view bungalow) and it was exactly what you need. The bed could be softer but other than that it was a step above the other rooms we've stayed in on Samet in the same price range. Great staff and nice breakfast!

David and Pui”
The N Balcony Bungalows are new and so lovely, I saw some reviews about the breakfast not being good but it was fine and I don't agree with those reviews. We had a lovely time nice beach, staff friendly lovely days swimming in the sea and nice evenings out at the beach restaurants and fire displays. I would definately book at the Tubtim bungalows again. It is a great pity that Koh Samet is plagued by a multitude of sand/fruit flies and an abundance of mosquitoes but I asked to borrow a room spray after the first night and this kindly loaned to us to spray the room. After that we had a peaceful night's sleep. The reception management are lovely people and made us very welcome. Thanks Tubtim Bungalows ! David and Pui

This is a very special place”
From the second I arrived at Tubtim, I realised I was in a special place. I loved the tiny beach and the staff. They treated me with such respect and were really friendly. The restaurant manager Nat, is excellent and had me in fits of laughter. Of course staff have their off days, but all the staff at Tubtim are such a lovely people, that their personalities shine through. And I really appreciated that. I met some very nice tourist at Tubtim, it is a tiny bit like the United Nations, everyone ties to get along. But you will come across some odd people (my advice is to ignore them), and to stick with the nice ones. The gay bar is a walk away in the next beach, it can’t compare with the friendliness of the bars in Koh Sumai (because the gay Thai’s here have a big city mentality from the capital, it’s their happy hunting ground on weekends). But, don’t allow that to put you off. Koh Samet and Tubtim have charm, tranquility and a lot of quality to enjoy, it attracts nice people!

A favorite of ours”
We've been to Tubtim a number of times (as well as other places on Koh Samet) - starting in the travelling days and staying in their basic fan room and upgrading to now an aircon garden view. There are comparable rooms/huts across Koh Samet for this price if you put the time and effort in to shop around. It's a basic, clean enough hut with a fan and aircon. Curtains were a bit grubby and the fan starting to go rusty and there wasn't the screening under the sink that was in the photos. The garden setting is fine, nothing fancy. Where it is special in our opinion is the beach - it's generally pretty clean as the staff rake it daily, it's a smallish cove and has an intimate feel to it, especially when it's dark and the lanterns are on. The water was reasonably clean (apart from the first day, something about the tide/direction of wind that made me panic about paradise lost) but plastic is ruining the swimming experience. The food was tasty and they offer a good variety, staff always available. The inclusive breakfast was good, and I enjoyed the variety of Thai breakfast on offer as well as the normal toast, jam, fruit and yoghurt. 20 to 30 minute walk to the main drag is not bad really, plenty of places to rest and have a coconut along the way. We would consider coming back here but would shop around as there is good competition.

i love it”
i love the tubtim resort very much. if i go to koh samet next time, i will still live in the resort again. i found a dog out of the resort swimming in the sea every a few minutes so i called it swimming- champion dog. what i love most is the beach in front of the resort and it is not so noise compared with others.

Overall best choice in Samet, and I have been to many”
The location at the crook of a small beach makes it less crowded than Sai Gaew or Silver Sands, and you can hike over the rocks to a truly secluded beach even in high season. Also the food is very good here, with special southern Thai dishes rather than just the touristy "seafood barbecue". The balcony seaview rooms are less expensive than the overpriced "luxury" bungalows on Ao Phrao, but offer better sea views. Ice buckets in the restaurant are only 15 baht (many resorts charge 50) Tubtim Resort has been around since the 1990s and is still the best overall value on the island.

It was great!”
Had a peaceful stay at Tubtim Resort with my friends. Friendly staffs, good breakfast....I still miss that rice porridge! peaceful and clean location, great rooms! I'd love to stay at the same resort if I visit Koh Samet again!

Excellent location/Value”
I recently stayed @ the TubTim Resort and had a great two weeks at the beach on Koh Samet! The cottages were comfortable, the staff was helpful and very friendly and the food was tasty as well as very reasonable. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Quiet resort with some areas for improvement”
I try to be very objective as I work for hotels. For people looking for a nice and quiet beach a few hours away from the city, I would definitely recommend Tubtim Resort in Koh Samet. We had so much fun at the beach and we got a very nice sea view balcony that has a fantastic view of the sea and few steps away from the shore. The beach is generally clean but the construction of the small jetty was quite an eyesore. Overall, restaurant food was good while breakfast is not so impressive but not too bad. For the price we paid, we definitely got a good deal! We just didn't like the fact that we got the room quite late and we were only given late check-out of 1 PM. We had to take a shower and fix ourselves at an area near the reception. We met the owner and was very apologetic for the incomplete set-up and late turnover of the room. The area is not as crowded and commercialized like other beaches. You still get to have some fun while having your quiet time.

Fabulous stay”
Tubtim is the perfect location for a stay on Koh Samet. It's sufficiently close to the action but then sufficiently far away from it to enjoy a peaceful stay. The beach is lovely, the island stunning, and the staff are charming and helpful.

A very nice and quiet place”
Located at a 10 min (200 Baht!) taxi-drive from the Pier, on a small, quiet beach with only 2 small resorts, this seems to be an excellent choice for families or those who want a more quiet stay than the larger beaches offer. We went in the weekdays of early November, and neither resort nor beach was crowded at all. The beach has beautiful white sand with some cliffs on the sides offering some opportunity for snorkeling. Neighbouring beaches can be reached by a short (3-5 mins) walk along a small, night-lit path. The cottages are small but not too small, very cozy, and some have a view of the beach through the palms. The resort restaurant serves very good quality Thai food (and some other dishes too) at prices that are a bit higher than in Bangkok, but that seems to be the norm for Koh Samet. The only flaw is that they are _very_ slow at serving it! There is one other restaurant on the beach, but it seems to have a lower standard (we did not try). More restaurants can be found on the neighbouring beach. A 20-30 min walk (or a 5 min. scooter ride) will take you across the island, where you can enjoy the only beach on the West side, and some nice sunset view points. The price seems reasonable for the quality. Strongly recommended.

Location location ”
This was my first trip to Koh Samet and the island itself is definitely worth the visit. Tubtim is on a quiet little beach away from the noise of the beach with the loud bars but less than 5 minutes walk away giving you the best of both worlds. The hotel itself is cute but a little rough around the edges. If you are looking for 5 star luxury this isn’t it. If you’re after a quaint quiet little place to stay right on the beach you’ll be satisfied. My room had a view of the beach from the balcony which was lovely. The room did what it needed to do, but wasn’t somewhere you’d want to do much more than sleep and dump your things before hitting the beach. Air conditioning worked well, as did the wifi. Restaurant food was good and tasty but was a bit of a lucky dip, something completely different to what I ordered arrived at the table a couple of times. The staff were lovely and friendly. All in all I’d go back and stay there again.

Best affordable place to stay”
Best affordable place to stay on Samet. Away from the buzz and yet within walking distance to the busier beaches. The food is super yummy and value for money. Even other resort guests visit the restaurant here. Thank you to the attentive and friendly staff and services and a wonderful stay at Tubtim.

Best Place To Stay on Samed”
In almost twelve years of going to Koh Samed, we have only stayed at a couple of places but prefer Tubtim. (The times we have stayed elsewhere was because Tubtim was sold out.) Great beach, excellent food, and the friendliest staff on the island. Even if you don't stay there, it is worth a visit for the restaurant, which has a great selection of both Thai and Western food.

thank you to Tubtim and its amazing staff”
My wife and I spent almost a week at the Tubtim resort. We really enjoyed staying there, we have been treated very nicely. Perfect room size, cleaned on daily basis. Staff was very friendly, A special thank you goes to Uan for his great customer service! Food and drinks are the best of all the island. Highly recommended!

Great place away from the action”
We really enjoyed our stay at Tubtim. Since it's at the end of the beach, it's a little isolated from all the action in Hat Sai Kaew. Everyone at the resort was very friendly and we were allowed to bring our small dog. The bungalow we stayed in (for 4 adults) was basic but clean and very spacious,. The shower and toilet worked well. The restaurant is quite good, and the best part about the resort really is that there are lots of tables beneath a big tree which means that you don't have to be in the sun all day. The ocean was clear and the beach was well kept. We will return to Tubtim at some point.

Fan room”
I stayed in the fan room A36 and was initially a bit trepiditious when I walked it and it didn't look as nice as the photos and there was no mosquito net, given so many other reviewers mentioned what an issue they were. I asked about the net and was told the mesh on the windows and doors was the netting. As it transpired this mesh worked very well and didn't see any insects in the room. The furnishings are very simple but all that's required and the location on tubtim is great. The food at the restaurant was faultless, very delicious.

Ko Samed”
Very pleasant stay due in part to attentive staff, the resort being situated right on the Tubtim beach with its soft sand and clear blue sea, and the resort having everything you could need.

Perfect (for me)”
Tubtim was a very nice little escape from BKK. I believe all rooms are stand alone cabins. Some are rather basic (others seem quite nice), but well made and clean. The staff is great; always accommodating, but never lurking. I loved that they had a wifi signal that was strong even at the beach-side tables. I spent the whole day there swimming, working, reading... It's less than a 5 minute walk to Silver Sands (the most lively club on Samed) and 10-15 minutes to get the the other places along the main stretch of beach. I highly recommend scheduling a motorboat back to the mainland to pick you up right from the resort beach. Tubtim is not the most luxurious resort on the island, but it was perfect for me.
