Awesome location, staff and rooms.”

The reviews were accurate about TR Guesthouse, with a convenient location with clean rooms and great service. TR Guesthouse is conveniently located opposite the night market, just enough across the river to not get the noise from it while one could easily cross the bridge to access the weekend night market. It is a 10min tuk-tuk/motorcycle ride away from the bus station, which costs 60/50 baht respectively (standard rates). They even have a tuk-tuk to return to the bus station for the same price. It is near the main road, where one could simply head west to reach the Sukhothai Historical Park in 15-20mins by motorcycle. The rooms are clean with firm yet comfortable beds, and an abundance of pillows with great air conditioning. However, while the toilet has a water heater, one should be careful of using it in the day as the water could get really hot without the heater. However, the water heater is quite weak at night, though one shouldn't expect a perfect shower at a guesthouse in the first place. The owner is friendly and speaks English well, offering suggestions for your itinerary with detailed directions, even sketching a map to better illustrate for your convenience. The staff are always willing to help you out if needed, going the extra mile for your comfort. One notable event was them agreeing to give a wake-up knock at your room, as there were no telephones in the room and I needed to wake for an early bus. Definitely a place worth to stay in Sukhothai.

Great atmosphere, great value for money”

We had two airco-rooms on the 2nd floor (if ground floor is first floor). As to be expected for a guesthouse in this pricerange, the rooms are basic. But they were clean and tidy, the airco functioned well and the beds were okay. (There are also other rooms, a.o. bungalows at the back of the garden which looked nice on the outside too, but can't comment on those) The family running the TR guesthouse is very friendly and with most guests staying in the common area / restaurant, the atmosphere is very relaxed. Breakfast was not included in the price, but was excellent and good value for money. We particularly liked the homemade muesli with fresh fruit and yoghurt. We also had two great, tasteful dinners. Again, at a very reasonable price for Thai standards. All in all we had a very nice stay in the TR guesthouse and would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to visit Sukhothai. The location is good: just of the hassle of the main street and thus quiet, yet close the the 'taxi'-stand that will take you to Sukhothai Historical Park.

Great location and clean, well-deocrated rooms”

Our stay at TR Guesthouse was great. The front of desk staff were very friendly and helpful, they even provided a points of interest map of Old Sukhothai and New Sukhothai on our arrival! The room was of a very good size, it was clean and it was well decorated. We were located only three minutes away from the bus-stop to take us to Old Sukhothai which was highly convenient for us as this was our sole reason for staying. The food at the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced.

Great stay”

Only stayed one night at TR Guesthouse and most of our time was spent sightseeing at the ruins of Sukhothai. Overall we had a really great experience and would recommend the hotel to others. As some have mentioned, the bathroom sink thing is kinda strange but overall the rooms were really nice. Speedy wifi, fluffy duvet and the works. The hotel is close to nearby restaurants and a 7-11, and you can catch the shuttle just around the corner to get to the ruins for very cheap. Great overall!

When Ithink of Sukhothai, the firts thing that comes to my mind are the ruins and my stay at TR. Mr Tao is the Man. Friendly, helpfull and humble person. Him and his wife took well care of me and other guest. He went out of his way to help a couple that showe up late at on my first night there. The food was great!!! If you need a ride, tuk tuks are available and cheap. 20 minutes to the Historical Parck, but there is nothing beside that in the Old Sukhothai. Stay in the New Sukhothai at TR. by the main road, 1 minute walk to good Bars/Food. And of course. Mr. Tao will be waiting for you to make sure you have a great time there.

The Best Value in Thailand”

This was the cheapest hotel we stayed at on our trip and with the Boutique hotel we stayed in while in Chiang Mai, the best we experienced on our trip. The owner of the place was perhaps the most honest individual we met in Thailand. I am not saying people in Thailand are not honest, but this guy put even my own family members to shame with how honest and helpful he was. His customer service skills and English were excellent and I really couldn’t fault a single interaction we had with him or the staff that he employs—his family which all shared the same dedication to their guests. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located room stay here. Avoid the “luxury” hotels in Sukhothai as this value priced one beats them all. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The AC was ice cold even though we were there during April which is the hottest month of the year in Thailand. The room arrangement was a bit strange but it worked and I would have gladly paid 5x what I did for the same experience. On a side note, we rented a scooter form the guesthouse. It was very well maintained with new tires and tight brakes. The owner did not do the usual scooter scam that we encountered in Thailand where they give you the scooter on empty without enough to make it to a gas station and “charge” 2x the price of fuel without asking to fill it up from their own stash. We received the scooter with a full tank and the only request was that we return it with the same amount of gas. On top of that the guesthouse did not have a helmet big enough to comfortably fit my huge “farang” head. To remedy this, the owner said if I found a bigger helmet while we were traveling around he would reimburse me for it. Which he did. I found one at the local big box store for 199.99bhat and he handed my wife that amount in cash. Now next time I visit the hotel I know there will be at least one helmet my size! Dusty rooms, nice lobby”

We arrived very early at TR guesthouse, even before the front was open. An old woman came out and started cleaning the tables and floor, and allowed us to sit down and wait to check in. Eventually, TR came out and showed us to our room, which was a fairly good size and well-furnished, but very dusty! We wish they had cleaned our room as thoroughly as their lobbies! Despite daily room cleanings, the state of dust did not improve. The lobby is pleasant to sit and eat lunch in, though there are plenty of nice restaurants and street food nearby. The guesthouse also has a lot of information about tours and renting bicycles to get around Sukhothai. If you can, definitely eat in the town as opposed to the many small restaurants lining old down Sukhothai!

Lovely hotel, lovely staff”

We really enjoyed TR Guesthouse. The staff were friendly, welcoming, happy to provide us with information regarding Sukhothai and answer any questions we had. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed comfortable. The staff were also happy to store our bags for us when we had a late bus on our last day. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse.

Great location near restaurants and markets”

I loved my stay in Sukhothai and TR Guesthouse definitely played a role in that. It seemed more families were staying here that backpackers. Loved being able to walk to the markets and restaurants. Breakfast at the hotel was reasonable. Staff was very helpful with suggesting tours and activities as well as setting up transportation. Would stay again.

TR Guesthouse is located in a good location at new Sukhothai, so you will need transport to go to the Old city (temples). The double room was c️lean, spacious and very comfortable. TR is well organised and has restaurant/bar service. I would stay here again.

Beautiful clean room in a quiet but central area”

What a lovely stay at TR Guesthouse, located just off the main road in New Sukhothai, but so quiet you'd think you were in a residential area. Just 10 minutes to the bus station, and 20ish minutes to the temples, this is a perfect location for delicious food, and easy travel. The hosts were so kind and the room is lovely and spacious. Highly recommend!!

Great Hotel In The Perfect Location”

TR Guesthouse was a great stay! Inexpensive, very clean, with comfortable beds and nice rooms. The staff is super friendly and very helpful, and the open lobby/bar is a great place to relax and meet other travelers. Really close to the Sorng Taaou station that brings you to Old Sukhothai (the ruins).

Farang Central”

tr guesthouse was a great choice for us. the best thing about it is the owners--they helped us with directions, recommendations, and a motorbike rental. it is very clean with good wifi. we stayed in a fan room, which was perfect since it was the rainy season and fairly cool. there was a hot shower but no refrigerator (fine with us). no free drinking water but it's available for purchase at a very reasonable price. it's located down a small alley with other guesthouses so it's basically backpacker central. all of the songtaew drivers at the bus station know exactly where it is. they also serve food, offering a large menu with lots of choices. it was a little expensive but priced the same as all the restaurants in the area.

Ideal”

All you need from a budget guest house is a safe clean room and TR provides this. A bonus would be incredibly friendly, helpful and clued up front desk staff and TR provides this too! They gave clear travel options of ways into and around Old Sukhothai and had useful timetables and pricelists for buses from the bus station to any onward destination. Always welcomed with a smile. Had breakfast one of the mornings and it was lovely and really filling.

Friendly staff”

I chose this place based on the reviews and price and I am pretty glad I did. The service is very good and staff are friendly and always smiling, as are all people native to sukhothai I've met thus far. An absolute difference from Bangkok. The food at the guest house is also tasty and well priced! I was in route to chaing mai and stopped here for 3 nights. You need not stay in Sukhothai for more than a night where you have one full day of exploring, that is all you need. Free wifi and close to the bus station are just some extra ++++

Excellent Guesthouse”

we ended up staying 5 nights at tr guesthouse. walking distance to everywhere in the new city, the museum is about 25 minutes walk. room was quiet, aircon and wifi worked well. staff are extremely friendly and will assist you with any question about the area and elsewhere. food is cooked well and was delicious. they sell beer for a good price also! would recommend this guesthouse everyone who is looking for value for money.

Quiet bungalows in Garden but lots of mosquitos”

The roomy bungalows were great to come back to refresh. They were in a garden setting, away from the main building. Internet was solid in the Registration/Cafe area, but spotty in the bungalows. Location was fantastic as there is a city-run open air van every 15-mins to Old Sukhothai, starting at 6am-5pm for only 30B pp. Give yourself about 20-mins to get to Old Sukhothai. You can walk out every morning & evening to get some of the best & cheap street food in Thailand! The morning market is 2-min walk, across the main road. Starting around 5:30pm, many motor street vendors come out with their delightful fare. Dont miss the Sat night market across the bridge by the river.

Try to travel by bike to Si Satchanalai Historical Park (58km for new city), and cycling around Sukhothai Historical Park. 2 nights stays is just perfect.

Fantastic service, great location & nice breakfast”

Stayed one night at this guesthouse. The owner , is a really nice person. Attended to my room's air-cond issue immediately, in which I think I can figure it out myself Great location near to the night market in Sukhothai New Town. I like their principle of "no shoes indoor" and "strictly no smoking in the room". The room is so clean. is so nice that he gave me the best room he has in his guesthouse. The only setback of the room is the lack of the bathroom facilities: no soup provided, and there's no sink in my room.

Had great time in Sukhothai, but...”

I booked TR Guesthouse because the reviews talked about it to be a very clean place. Indeed the hotel and my room itself was very clean and comfortable, which provided very good rest after long days. However, the staffs were not at all helpful nor they wanted to go extra miles to help guests out. I experienced it twice when asking them about common questions a guest would ask. When I asked the staff 'what is the earliest bus to go to Chiang Mai tomorrow?'. He just pointed to the wall opposite him and directed me there with his finger. I witnessed another lady wanting to book a bus ticket and the bus company that she called does not speak English. She asked the guy to help her to talk to the bus company, using her mobile phone. The guy refused to help her and told her to visit the tourist assistance office which is within a walking distance. The girl asked him again to just help her to speak to the bus company. Again he did not want to and insisted to charge her if he was to help in this case. I learned that the staff is just being straight-to-the-point in serving the guests. So for those looking only for clean and nice rooms to stay in Sukhothai, good location (near transport, near night market to get cheap foods, near bars), good wifi facility, then TR Guesthouse could be considered.
