Gorgeous resort on the top of the hill”
I have to say I simply loved Thipwimarn. The room had a few small issues, things that while not bothering me personally too much, could cause some reviewers to blow a gasket! EG lamp next to the bed was smashed in one corner, should have been replaced or even just removed. Also one sheet had a big rip in it, which was not visible except when you got in bed! Lovely room setup on entering, pretty towel swans and lots of flowers. Room design very lovely except for the lack of overhead light - very dim at night and confusing. Old tv and needed to put the kettle on the floor to be able to plug it in to make tea & coffee, so a bit weird! The mosquito net wasn't strictly needed against beast but did moderate the aircon wonderfully - best nights sleep here! Lack of hot shower is clearly stated but I don't know why they don't just upgrade them - the rooms are at a price bracket you'd expect that and they would be pretty cheap to install basic electric hot water heaters! The pool is lovely - not huge, but a great view - you're really perched on the side of a mountain. For the cheapest rooms it's also a bit of a hike up to the reception/restaurant/pool area, but well worth it! Shame the spa was closed though, I would have liked a massage on site :P Breakfast was *exceptional*. They do not have buffet but basically will make you anything you ask for if they have it. We got a HUGE pile of bacon as well as lovely juice, decent coffee - few language mishaps but the view from the restaurant is simply DIVINE so enjoy it! Especially if you like Thai leaning pillows - one of the best resort restaurants I've ever been to. Wifi was excellent. Only downside really is it's a long way to the beach. So choose this resort for the time you want to laze by the pool or snuggle in your room! ALso watch out for the crabs on the stairs at night! You're in a very diverse jungle/beach environment here!! I would highly recommend Thipwimarn especially for couples.

superb views, comfortable stay”
We got a bungalow facing the ocean and it was amazing. When the beaches were too hot during the day we had a nice retreat into our room which was nestled in between giant trees. Toilets are outside of the bungalow, we didn't mind too much but wished they had a sink inside at least. They have a peacock so don't get startled. I was. It's quite a walk down to the beach, 15 mins down steep winding steps that lead down to a little cove with a swing and the decks to the hillside resort which is beneath thipwimarn. Snorkelling equipment is available for rent (150)from that hotel and its well worth it. The hotel's pool was a disappointment though, it looked more like a swamp. Breakfast was alright what they lacked in menu selection they made up for with the view. There's a viewpoint further up from the hotel where you can see koh Nang Yuan at sunset and that's not to be missed. Motorbike rental is just outside the hotel (1500). 15mins from the jetty and they provide free transport to & from.

Beautiful Hotel with in a Quiet Location”
We loved our stay at Thipwimarn Resort! I was a bit concerned that the hotel may be a bit out of the way from the main town area but we rented a motorbike down the road for only 200 baht per day (also not too far of a walk). We stayed in the garden villa 2 and was a gorgeous room and still had see views from our private verandah. Plus staying in the garden villa meant not having to walk up all the steps as the other rooms would have to. The pool was gorgeous and I enjoyed the breakfast range with lots of fresh museli and fruits (eggs and all other hot foods as well). Dinner here was also great! Would easily stay here again and they also provide 2 free shuttles from the pier (to and from) - this just needs to be arranged prior to arriving.

Little paradise on the hilltop”
We arrived in Thipwimarn during the recent monsoon to get away from the flood in the village. Ricky on the reception was great and made sure we had everything we needed during that time. Although the resort has odd restaurant opening hours (best to check daily), there are two resorts next to it that are also nice. Although the food in the resort is a bit pricey you can get it delivered to your hut. There is also a lovely pool, which we used once, shame we couldn't make more use of it due to the rain. Our room was cleaned daily and we had a nice buffet breakfast included everyday. It is also not too far from the town (took us around 15mins although coming back you do have to walk up the hill).Overall, despite some minor difficulties with staff who have at times forgotten or mixed up an order and weird opening hours in the restaurant, Thipwimarn was our salvation in the terrible monsoon. I would definitely recommend it, its a lovely romantic place, ideal for couples.

Very nice”
It was very nice to stay at Thipwimarn Resort. The staffs are very nice and friendly. There is shuttle from pier to resort available for free. It is very convenient. The location is very beautiful. Only that there are many stairs to walk up and down, other than that is just great.

Great stay! Even with all the negative reviews.. ALL GOOD!”
We stayed 4 nights; 3 in the boutique & 1 in the pool villa. We got a warm welcome from this amazing kind guy Rickie. He help us with everything and gave good advice. To be honest we where a bit nervous to book this place because of all the negative reviews. So with low expectations it was a real surprise. I guess you just have to go for the good rooms, here everything was clean and nice! The resort had a amazing view and calmness. Sure it could use some paint and repairments to the wood to make it a small great 5 star resort. We would come back for sure and we're going to miss you rickie! Kind regards the dutch & german guy who did their diving course in Koh Tao. -> Big Blue Diving we can recommend!

Quiet and private getaway”
there're pros and cons for every hotel. bad things about this hotel is that its far from koh tao main street, so its quite hard to find food and nightout. However, transfer is free 3 times a day. Room and staff are great. Very private and nice getaway. If you want to escape from the busy life, this is the place for you. be caution that there're lots of steps in the resort, think of it as an exercise. And please improve the breakfast!!

Amazing views!”
This hotel well exceeded our expectations. We were given a room with an amazing view and it was cleaned every day. The views from the pool and the restaurant were just breathtaking. A very romantic place to stay The hotel is about a 15min walk from town so it is better to have a scooter but definately ok if you like a walk. The only con is all the stairs! but after all the food you will be eating on Koh Tao its probably a good thing.

Great peaceful place”
My wife and I had a lovely stay at Thipwimarn. The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing and the views out to sea are great. Some reviews we read warned of the small pool, but we thought it was just perfect for a cooling off afternoon dip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would recommend Thipwimarn to our friends.

nice&quiet resort”
We stayed for 2 nights I'd say that I'm very happy with my stay. People are very nice and friendly tho they don't speak much English. I like the location of the hotel because it's far from the crowd so I don't recommend this if you come to koh tao to party but if you looking for a nice getaway this is the hotel for you. I love the hotel exterior decor it's so nice with tons of plants and trees, but you can get tired sometimes climbing up and down the stairs. So yep I think this hotel is also not for handicapped and small children.

Perfect Romantic Hotel with character”
This hotel was breath taking in it's views and how quiet and personal it was. Very romantic and you get to enjoy amazing views from the balcony. There were only three rooms in use whilst there so it was very quiet. Will definitely go back when in Koh Tao

Beautiful resort, quiet, far from town”
Pros: the resort was clean and surrounded by nature which made it beautiful! The pool was small but I didn't spend much time there. The resort was quiet and relaxing. The food was reasonably priced and delicious. Breakfast included. You can walk into town in 15-20 mins. You get free singha water in your mini fridge, which is great! Coffee and tea with a kettle in your room. I had a great view of the ocean from my balcony and often saw little critters on the resort. Cons: for a solo traveler, I don't recommend it as it's far from any social atmosphere. There's no shuttle or taxi service into town and a regular taxi is 300B which is much more pricey than the other islands. Unless you know how to drive a bike well, I recommend staying closer to, or on, sairee beach. Getting back at night after going out was tricky, or expensive. I don't recommend walking back at night. Some dogs are very protective of their properties, and a taxi or scooter ride home would be the safest.

Really enjoyed our stay- made very welcome ”
We really enjoyed our 4 day stay, the reception was friendly and first impressions of our room were good. There is little English spoken at the resort, and it could do with a little more attention to maintenance but that's typical of any Thai hotel. The restaurant food is recommended especially the coconut prawns, unfortunately the staff have a little problem understanding you so a few things came out wrong or it took a long time for food to come out. Overall I would go back, as it looked one if the better resorts on koh Tao.

A nice little place, hidden in the hills”
Having pre-booked a sea view studio (with air-con), we only lasted one night before ungrading rooms to a 'boutique' room. The resort is strange in that it has rooms which have only cold water showers and no air-con up to really posh rooms with their own little mini waterfall/pool! All of the rooms at Thipwarmin have a sea view but can be a llittle but a very noisy. This hotel is set in quite a jungle setting and the resident peacock can be a little noisy, along with many other critters, but nothing is nosier than the "taxi boats!!" that leave from Sairee beach to the neibouring small island, which is just at the North-west tip of Koh Tao - next to Thipwarmin! These run for most of the day and into the night. The hotel has a very good breakfast on offer and the restaurant serves a decent choice of food for lunch and dinner but a trip down to Sairee is quite nice for a change (for 50 baht per person, one way- arranged by the hotel). There are LOTS of places to eat, drink and be merry in Sairee... The sunset from any one of the beach-front places along there was something we did every night!

Quiet, peaceful and tranquil ”
Set amongst rainforest with abundance vegetation on the side of a hill. Rooms are well appointed, excellently designed and private. We loved this resort so much, we extended our stay 3 times and stayed in the resort several days just to relax, read and swim. CONS: It's a 20 minutes walk to the nearest town (cafes and restaurants) Not every room has wifi PROS: Great value for money Lovely clean rooms Friendly and helpful staff Decent breakfast with a stunning view Ideal for quiet people: couples (no party noise) Nice little pool and viewing deck Tropical setting Hillside (so you catch the sunset) Out of town VERY nice hotel manager Laundry service and bike rental 20 meters from hotel. Splendid afternoon views!!!

beautiful hotel with stunning views”
we've just returned from a 7 night stay here and had a lovely time. 1) staff- very friendly, and really attentive. their english was also very good. 2) food- the breakfast is great and there is a lot of choice of cold and hot foods. having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea is also fantastic. the only down side is the main restaurant. although the setting is beautiful, the food is of pretty poor quality and is much more expensive than other restuarants in the town (which are also much nicer) 3) location- the location is stunning, nestled in the hills overlooking sairee beach. i enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of sairee, but was happy that it was only a 20 minute walk there. we spent a lot of our time at the main sairee beach and ate there in the evenings, and the walk there is not a problem. 4) pools etc- the hotel has a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea which, although small, was always empty during our stay. the private beach is not really worth a visit as it is very littered with glass etc. there's not really any beach either, just a few rocks. if you want the beach, head down to sairee. 5) rooms- the rooms are very spacious and of a very good quality. i loved the rustic nature and the fact that they were entirely made of wood. i can't say we had any problems with any bugs that others described either. overall, we had a really good stay here and would definitely recommend it for people travelling to koh tao.

Lovely getaway on Ko Tao, terrible service”
Having read all of the negative reviews of this place before we came, we were a bit apprehensive about staying here. Fortunately, most of the negative reviews are overblown. Yes, the place is a 20 minute hike from the main drag of Sairee, but that's exactly what makes it charming and pleasant. Yes, there are lots of steps, but it's on a mountain side overlooking the Gulf of Thailand! The landscapers did a wonderful job blending the resort in with the natural surroundings. The breakfast was very decent – especially for being included in the price. The rooms were very nice and reminded us of staying in a very nice lodge or cabin in an American National Park or somewhere like that. Yes, there were very loud frogs, but you are in the jungle, so get over it. Okay, now the negative. The service was TERRIBLE. I mean, TERRIBLE. The staff have no managers or leadership, so everyone stands around and does nothing. The food is decent, but getting a meal takes at least 2 hours and, inevitably, about an hour into waiting for your food the waiter will come up to you and tell you that they are out of whatever it is you ordered. Also, the internet was out the entire length of our stay and no one seemed to be able to fix it. The power also fluctuates frequently. The spa is definitely NOT worth the price. I got a better massage in town for 300 baht than the one I got at the Thipwimarn Spa for 1300! There's a nice little pool near the spa, but for some reason they turn off the lights at 8pm – just when you want to take a little dip to cool off from the beach and rinse the salt water off.
