Exceptional”

This was a beautiful hotel with a large, very clean duplex room. All staff were exceptional and check-in/out was a breeze although, it's not a large front desk. The hotel was set up nicely for Christmas activities with a visit from Santa on Christmas Eve. The location was fine but a bit of a walk to some of the sights, although very close to good restaurants. I would stay here again if returning to Beijing.

The suite was reasonably spacious as compared to most presidential suites, and had its own sound proof movie room. The living room, however, was relatively a little smaller than what would have been ideal.

Problem about my booking ”

I was already booking and payment around 2 months before i arrived to hotel (Beijing Suite type) We were arrived to hotel around 9 pm and then reception staff (Ms. Joy Zhao) said to me and family that we were false in booking with Agoda agent then they said we need to downgrade my room to standard room. And force to me contact with Agoda agent directly. OMG !!! no any help and idea for professional solve of this problem from her .Why they not offer a different room in same class to us and handle with this problem by hotel staff? I pay for suite room, NOT STANDARD ROOM !!! But after we are forceful talk and had some argument each other so she would call someone to help us. At that time we are so tried and wait for my room around 30 mins so I don’t think this is a professional solve of this problem. If at the moment we were already check out , i would like to leave some complaints to your staff of Peninsula Beijing service was very bad . By the way i am so surprising no complimentary fruits or anything for suite room , we requested for an ice bucket for champagne but housekeeping give a very old plastic bucket to us but not for hold champagne.VERY SURPRISED !!

Disappointing and sub-standard service”

Had great experience at other Peninsula, but this Beijing outlet, very disappointing. 2 miserable check-in counters without seats, lack of warmth, just cold & slow service that made me feel unwelcome. Breakfast not cheap, but absolutely not value for money. In fact, food from the menu taste horrible & tiny buffet spread is a joke. What a rip-off! Making thing worse, I was taken aback when the service staff said to me “先去排队,不要着急” means go and Q up patiently. Mind u, the guests are all civilized people, nobody’s jumping Q at all. Staff asked for number of people and jotted in small slip of paper, and then just utter such rude remarks like teacher instructing pupils even though she didn’t really take long to bring guests to the tables. Goodness! Mood totally ruined early in the morning. And I spotted chipped porcelain bowl, which is a big no no for any good restaurant. Service staff just turned blind and needed reminder to clear away soiled plates. Thumbs down! Will not come back again

Lovely hotel but small room”

well-appointed bathroom and firm mattress

From the way the bellboys hopped briskly to attention upon our taxi's arrival and got our suitcases, we knew we would have a wonderful stay at The Peninsula. Its ideal location (near the Forbidden City), its staff, the nearby restaurants and shopping areas were all pluses during our 5-day stay. The concierge was very helpful when I reported the loss of my mobile phone and he was able to give it to me right away (someone had recovered it right in front of our room!). We always adore the Peninsula Lobby (Manila, HongKong) and Beijing was no exception; it is an oasis after long days of sightseeing and walking and shopping. Finally we think we had the best meal of our Beijing stay at Huang Ting Restaurant. We only regretted that we ate there on our last day in Beijing! We could have eaten there everyday. However we thought the buffet breakfast a bit expensive for what it offered. We are looking forward to the opening of The Peninsula in Paris very soon!

Best location, Great service. Room quality varies”

Peninsula quality service, great location, value for money

Although not in the Hong Kong Peninsula league, the Peninsula service quality here (Beijing) is top class. Location is great. 5 minutes walk to the shops, 30 minutes to Forbidden City.... This was our first stay where the room we were given had a noisy air-con (had to be switched off at night), and smallish in size. Management upgraded us to a better room on our 2nd stay a week later. It made a huge difference. It's important to choose the right room.... and even pay a bit more. As this completes the excellent experience. It's worth the extra dollars to stay at the Beijing Peninsula than a lesser/cheaper hotel, as this completes the entire experience of being there. Customer service is wonderful. Breakfast is very expensive, so we ate at a nice bakery around the corner which had beautiful fresh pastries and great coffee for $8 for 2 people! Spending $30 a head on breakfast at the Peninsula is a bit rich for a city that can offer more for less. A big plus was high quality WiFi connection (free) throughout the hotel.

Excellent Hotel near the Forbidden City”

clean and comfortable

the peninsula is the place to stay in beijing. it is only a few blocks from beijing's major attractions... tiananmen square and the forbidden city. you can get a ride in the rolls royce they park in front... for a hefty price. the rooms are large and nicely appointed with great views of the city. high end stores are located on the main and basement floors with a convenient atm for converting to local yuan currency. my only negative is the hotel's restaurant is very expensive...the buffet cost 800yaun for two... and the service staff was not attentive. try the restaruant across the street for a good sampling of local cuisine.

Great Location and Value”

Location, beds and shopping

This hotel is a great location and very comfortable rooms with included wifi throughout the hotel. Concierge was very friendly and helpful with us planning our trip and activities in Beijing. The only issue we had was being unable to get a taxi from the hotel. Location is just two blocks away from a metro exit and from best shopping street in Beijing. Short walk to Forbidden city. Hotel is a great value and service, but the quality is not the same as the much more expensive Peninsula hotels in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Great Value ”

Location, Service & Gym/Pool

While the staff deliver 5 star service the hotel's infrastructure is no longer 5 star, with the exception of the pool/gym. Ownership needs desperately to invest in a refurbishment of the rooms/halls, etc. That said, at the right price point, this hotel represents arguably the best hotel value in Beijing. Through a prepay/no refund deal available only on Agoda, my wife and I obtained a great price (excluding breakfast but including taxes for 5 nights in early Jan 2014) and, thus, enjoyed an excellent stay. Our grand deluxe room was quite comfortable and, when a few things needed fixing, the staff responded immediately and quickly resolved the issues. The lobby lounge is a very good spot for meetings over tea/coffee and the gym/pool are excellent. We did not eat in the hotel so no comment on dining. The location of the hotel is great and, for those interested, there is a subway stop less than 5 minutes walk. There are also coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, etc., all within a very short walk of the hotel. In sum, while this property is no longer 5 star in overall quality and certainly not nearly the same quality level as the rest of the Peninsula Hotels around the world, at the right price point it is worth considering and for visits to Beijing. We will certainly consider it for our next visit.

Great experience at Peninsula Beijing”

beautiful upscale hotel with spacious, beautiful rooms. Staff is extremely helpful and speak English very well, which is essential for any foreign travelers that don't speak Mandarin. They really helped us figure out how to get around the city. Great breakfast buffet.
Restaurant meals were a little pricy, compared to local restaurants, though the food is very good.

We were very happy with our stay at the Peninsula Beijing. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable (though, note - all beds in China are pretty hard!!). The conceirge was amazing - helped us arrange transportation and get around the city very easily. Staying there made our visit to Beijing very enjoyable and easy to navigate. The locataion is good - within walking distance to the Forbidden city, Tianamen Sq. and lots of shopping.

Snowing Beijing in November 2009”

Hotel situated near WangFuXin St. Just walking 2 blocks to all the shopping mall. Spa is the major highlights of my trip. A very comfortable spa, the sparoom is very spacious and warmth ambiance. All branded shopd right in the Lobby to LL1 & LL2. Breakfast spread is amazing interesting. You can eat a King breakfast!
In lobby no sofas for waiting. Basically you have to sit in the lobby lounge and ending up with paying a drink while waiting for friends.

I am glad to book myself in Peninsula Beijing thru Agoda.com the prices compared to my agent who booked me extended stay was way cheaper and room are bigger with Agoda booking. However, my agent manage to include breakfast but not Agoda. The hotel room is very comfortable and clean. Location is the best, I just have to run across to Babe Hairsalon for a hairdo. 2 blocks to WangFuXin Street. The hotel have a spa facility, the spa is absolutely must try. Is pricey!! I will recommend for those who love to have some luxury just check yourself in Peninsula Beijing.

Amazing breakfast buffet, wonderful staff/service, increadible shopping, immaculate
The prices of drinks and coffee

We stayed at the Peninsula Beijing for 6 nights just recently. We had a wonderful experience. The hotel was immaculate with extremely helpful, friendly staff. The housekeeping of our room, was unbelievable with attention to detail, even folding our clothing, and laying out our slippers. The food was increadible and definatley looked forward to eating there every morning. We also had the pleasure of having meals in both restaurants which were wonderful. The peking duck was the best we have ever tasted!! We felt we were very well taken care of, especially when our luggage failed to arrive, and we were provided with an amazing toiletry package! The only complaint I would have would be the prices of drinks and coffee. They were the priciest I have ever encountered in my many travels, and a bit of a shock when the bill arrived. To pay around $20 CAN for 2 cups of coffee seemed extremely high. It was delicious, but I most likely would have passed if I would have realized the price. Other than that, I would definately stay there again!

Great Location, friendly staff, nice room...

We stayed here for 4 nights, the room was nice. Walking distance to the WangFuJing Street, easy to find good foods at all time, which is very convenient. we even walked from hotel to the forbidden city and Tiananmen square, it is not very far and we can enjoy the scenery along the way. Highly recommended hotel in Beijing.

Great Hotel”

Central location

this is one of the most luxurious hotels you can get into in beijing. if you are looking for top designer brands, all their boutiques are situated directly in the very same building of the hotels. as for sightseeing, the forbidden city is just a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. so are famous shopping and dining districts such as "wangfujing". the hotel seems very new, clean and modern. the staff's english is excellent and they were friendly to help on any inquiries we had.

Great hotel in a strategic location”

Few steps from the subway station, Wangfujing shopping area and other places of interest.

We had a lot of expectations about this hotel and truly it did not disappoint us. When we checked in, we were told that we were upgraded and the front desk staff even went out of her way to accompany us into our room to check that everything is alright. The room size is just right for us and the beddings and bathroom are just perfect. Breakfast for the three days were great, staff at the buffet breakfast (Jing) were attentive and some knows fluent English. Its a good thing I brought with me my smart phone that has a translator (its a must!) so even if they can't understand some things I requested in English, I could blurt out in simple Chinese words through my translator. The only downside of the breakfast is that in the three days, the food choices are almost the same. The hotel is very near the subway station, particularly Dengshikuo station. It is also near the Wangfujing shopping district and near the exotic street food area. A few more blocks are places of interests such as Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Great Hall of the People. Overall, our first time in Beijing was very memorable and a great part of it was the hotel experience.

A genuine 5 star hotel in Beijing”

The buffet breakfast, Clean, Super attentive service, efficient climate controlled rooms

i've stayed at the beijing peninsula four times now, and i wouldn't stay anywhere else in beijing. i'm not the type of tourist that hangs out with other westerners, and eats at western style restaurants etc etc... but after a day on the streets i do like to retire to a comfortable environment where i can wind down in a clean room, with functioning ammenities, and the peninsula delivers every time. also the peking duck in the downstairs restaurant is not to be missed if you decide to eat in.

Classy hotel with exceptional service.”

Service was exceptional. Good location close to shops + food markets.

When I walked into The Peninsula Beijing, I immediately knew I was in one classy hotel. From the staff's greeting when I arrived, to help staff gave me in getting my China SIM card to work, I was impressed with the level of care + professionalism of the team here. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. I did however find the wifi / internet facilities a little dated, but this was a minor issue. I look forward to staying at The Peninsula Beijing again.

Excellent service and staff”

Location, Location, Location

This was my first time in Beijing and was a bit hesitant of where I should stay. I decided on the Peninsula based on the Agoda recommendation score and value. The Peninsula Hotels have always had a reputatioin fror top of the line service but I never imagine that even though I booked a room on a budget rate that I would get the Top notch service and amenities that the Peninsula has to offer. Location was excellent and most sites I needed to get to were within walking distance or easily accessible by hailing a Cab. Great experience, I highly recommend you take advantage of the Spa in the hotel 5+ Stars in my book.

We liked it so much, we stayed there twice!”

Great area, SPA, beautiful decor
room a bit smaller than expected

My mother and I stayed at this hotel when we first arrived in Beijing. We liked it so much that we came back a second time and were not disappointed. The staff is really nice and helpful. The rooms (while a bit small) are clean, stylish and quiet. The breakfast buffet is also really great. They serve both Chinese and American style breakfast and it does not disappoint. They also have a great selection of tea in the hotel lobby bar/lounge area. The hotel is located in the Wanfujing area and is close to the subway and a bunch of tourist sites (Forbidden City, Tienanmen Square, etc) . Also, check out their Spa.
