Simply Excellent”
We had a truly brilliant time in Koh Samet and the staff and setting of the Sunrise Villas were two of the main reasons for this. Koh Samet itself is an extremely affordable island and this extends to the wonderful Sunrise Villas where you can wake up to a breathtaking ocean view for relative peanuts compared to what it may cost you elsewhere on the island (and especially the world in general). The room is also pretty comfortable and extremely clean and - in addition to the amazing location and setting - the Sunrise Villas has its own excellent restaurant where Chef Brian and his team are more than willing to cook you up some amazing food - again, for relatively very little in contrast to the quality of food you're receiving. All in all, I couldn't recommend Sunrise Villas much more highly and wouldn't hesitate for even one second in re-booking here, if I am ever able to take a return trip to Koh Samet!

Wake up to the Seaview right from your bed for less bucks!”
Sunrise villas is very close to the pier so you don't even need a ride to your hotel it's just 10mins walk. The seaview rooms are right on money. You can wake up to see the beautiful seaview from your bed. A perfect relaxing setting for $50 per night. The rooms are small but you will find everything you need in place. Safe box, tv, fridge and hot shower. A nice verandah with swing to chill out. High speed Internet. I wish they had English channels too. Don't expect many amenities it's not a resort. There is a restaurant for breakfast but plenty of eating options nearby just rent a bike for 250 baht. There is a 200bath entrance fee to koh samed park so don't forget to exchange money in the city where you will find better rates then koh samed. Love the place and the hotel definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a seaview room without hurting your pocket. Perfect for couples and bachelors. .

Quiet location, great experience with management”
i was really nervous about traveling to koh samed, as i was traveling solo from bangkok via bus and i was trying to save on costs, being a grad student. a few days before booking, i called the resort after reading a few reviews on agoda. i spoke with both chris and michael and they were quite gracious and really nice. upon my arrival, i was made to feel quite welcome - they have these 3 lovely dogs that sort of greet and escort you at arrival. my anxieties were erased at arrival. my room was small but adequate for me - air-conditioning worked the entire time (score) and it was pretty comfortable. the bathroom/toilet combo wasn't bad - i mean, for what you pay per night, it was not bad at all. i really enjoyed my stay. chris, michael, my neighbors in suite 7 (steve and sue), tony and david - we had a fabulous time. the main beach was a short walk away but i am glad that sunrise villas is not located super close to the nightlife as it would have been hard to fall asleep. i sat on my balcony sometimes, sipping a beer very slowly and watching the water lap onto the rocks by the sunrise villa bar below me. it was super peaceful and quiet. the beach and nightlife is just walking distance away (10 minutes or less), and walking to the nearest 711 is like 2-3 minutes. there is another quieter beach closer that is a bit deserted and great for swimming. we ate at local eateries so i did not get to sample sv food therefore i cannot comment on the food. all in all, sunrise villas are not the ritz but sometimes you stay at such a nice, cozy place with less frills and you have the time of your life. i really enjoyed my stay, loved my room, enjoyed the company i found and will return with the boyfriend in tow some day soon! try it out, have a beer and relax.

Great place,very convenient location,friendly guys”
I had an excellent two days stay at Sunrise Villas, Koh Samet. There was everything that I wanted. Wished to stay longer...but having not pre-booked, the place was full. The small seaside cottages are very comfortable.....and you have a great view of the sea from your bed. Michael the Manager/owner was extremely helpful and friendly offering all assistance and guidance that I needed. Infact, I by mistake left some important papers in the room on checkout. Michael was most kind to safely personally deliver them to me in Pattaya after a few days. Would strongly reccomend this place to all who look for comfort, peace, and relaxation at a very reasonable price!

Great Budget Stay”
Sunrise Villas is right near the main pier at Samet. Our bungalow was tiny and adorable. Basic is the best compliment we can pay the room itself, as it was Spartan with a wet bathroom (shower not separate, so entire bath gets soaked when anyone showers). However, the view was perfect, being waterfront. The room had great charm, despite a terrible bed. The restaurant was awesome with a fine chef who put love into her food. Buy one, get one free cocktails were awesome and strong. We ate here several times and were thrilled each time. Truly the best food we had on Samet in many, many trips. Olly, the manager, was very friendly and made us feel at home. If you want quiet and waterfront at a budget price, this is your place. We would definitely stay again.

The best hotel /vacation experience I've ever had!”
the best hotel / vacation experience i've ever had! beyond just the intrigue of the place (incredible view over the ocean, wonderful seaside restaurant, clean, all amenities necessary, great location) the staff were above and beyond anything else i have ever encountered. not only was everyone extremely helpful in guiding us around the island, directing us to the best spots, renting our scooters for us, great conversation, and so much more, everything was at our fingertips through the staff! beyond that, they helped us to plan our trip beyond our stay at the villas, telling us the best places to go, how to get there, the best and the worst of all that was ahead of us. owners staff and patrons were all amongst the best i have ever encountered traveling the world... when i go back, i will stay no other place than the sunrise villas, and i wish every place i stayed, anywhere in the world, was even remotely close to the experience i had at sunrise villas! my stay there made the entire trip! i can't wait to go back, i thank them, and wish them all the best!

A great find!”
Wow what a great find. I spent a blissful 5 nights at the Villas and enjoyed every moment! Waking up to the sound of the waves on the shore was magic! After exploring the island I realised how lucky I was as accommodation right on the water just isn’t about. The location was also great as it’s close to the ferry and also only a short walk to town. What I was looking for was a place to really get that much needed pease and quiet - but also close enough to the action if I wanted a night out - and I really found that great medium with the villas. The new owner and staff were fantastic and really made me feel welcome. He had a lot of great advice on what to see and do on the island and was far more helpful than any travel book! The bar was great for a cocktail and the food I ordered from the menu was impressive. I had a great time on Koh Samet and my accommodation was a key part of the experience. When you are sitting on your own private balcony looking over the ocean it just sets the scene for a special kind of holiday!

Quaint cottages with an unbeatable location”
Stayed at Sunrise Villas 4 nights from February 24 to 28. A friend and I had 2 rooms in one of the duplex villas (numbers 1 & 2) for our stay on Koh Samet. The location is the big selling point for these villas with a direct private access to the water (less than 10 steps from the villa) and views back towards the town of Ban Phe. Room amenities were basic but clean and comfortable and access is via a 100 metre walk from Nadan pier. The main township of Saikaew beach is a 5 - 10 minute stroll away with numerous food, drink and other stores as well as scooter hire options along the way. If it is privacy and an unrivalled (at this price point) private waterside retreat you are after them look no further than Sunruse villas.

short stay”
We had a couple of days to spend before flying out of Bangkok and decided to see what Koh Samed was like. It was the New Year's weekend so places right on the beach were hard to come by. So we chose the Sunrise based on other's reviews and its easy-to-get-to location. Located right next to the island's main pier, it is an easy walk with bags and luggage - so that is a plus. The room was small and basic but was everything we needed for our short stay. First of all, it is spotlessly clean. The bed and bedding was super comfy, the AC worked like a dream, there was a flat-screen tv (which we never turned on!), a safe in the room and a nice terrace with table and chairs out front. The water was quite rough the days we were there, but was calm on the day we left - that meant that we didn't actually get to try swimming just in front of the room, but it looked so inviting as we were dressed up in our travel clothes, ready to head back to chilly Europe. The beach just in front of the villas is rather rocky, with inlets of white sand. I imagine (although I can't confirm) that the snorkeling might be ok there on calm days. Town and the long, sandy beaches were just a short walk away. We only had breakfast there one morning, so can't really report on the restaurant itself. The location is lovely, set on a big terrace just above the sea. As we had planned to take the ferry at 3pm, we asked about the possibility of a late check-out (2'ish), which was not a problem at all (Thanks very much guys!). If you are planning to be in Samed for a longer period of time and you just want to walk out your door and hit the beach, Sunrise may not be for you. But, if you are looking for a clean place to rest your head for a couple of nights, I can recommend this place.

Great value for money right on the water ”
Sunrise Villas is great value for money being right on the water and not far from the centre of the island. The rooms were small but were clean and had everything you needed. Sunrise is right on the water and the small restaurant area is as well. The breakfast there was really good and the staff were all friendly. I would stay again at Sunrise if I went back to Samet.

Beautiful view”
Koh Samet of quite a scruffy island, with typical SE Asian waste management, i.e. plastic bags and bottles all around. However when you are in your bungalow looking out over the water you could just about convince yourself you were in a tropical idyll. The rooms are smallish and basic but do have a good size fridge which is very useful as there is a 7-11 just a couple of hundred metres away at the ferry. There is no beach but the main beach is about 10-15 minutes walk. The place is owned by English people and they do a pretty good breakfast for homesick Brits/Aussies. The food on the island is generally fairly low quality/poor value by Thai standards. We dined at Sunrise villas one evening and it was a beautiful spot sitting right by the water. The Pad Thai was good. They also do Italian which looks good but was a bit beyond our budget. We would have dinner there the next night but it was very windy and not pleasant to shoot that close to the water. We picked the place partly because it was close to the ferry and we didn't want to struggle with our backpacks. One suggestion would be to fit insect screens because it would have been great to sleep with the windows open (there were lovely sea breeze) but there are a lot of mosquito's around. All in all were very happy.

A perfect hotel for couple and family”
I travel with my friends. All of us love the sunrise villas. It is a perfect place for couples or families. If there were twin beds, we would have stayed there for all six days. I will live there again if I visit the Samet island with my family or friends. It is a good memory for our Thialand trip. The big boss is so kind and nice.

One of my better experiences in Thailand”
This was my first trip as a solo traveler for several years, and Sunrise Villas was ideal - very close to the pier and so no long treks with rucksacks etc, very friendly and sociable staff, and only a short walk to the main beach / nightlife. Other accommodation on the island can be over-priced, but this was good value for money. I had only intended on staying two nights and ended up staying for four, which probably says enough. Other reviewers have mentioned problems with running water etc, but this affects the entire island so nowhere is immune! I very much hope to return sometime soon.

Perfect location”
We had the most wonderful stay here, greeted with a smile, very clean room with hot and cold water, air con and comfortable bed and the best sea view ever from the balcony. The restaurant was also the perfect setting and lovely food served quickly. All the local amenities were just a stones throw away . Would recommend this for anybody visiting koh samet and wanting good accommodation as a reasonable price

A great place to have a break - beautiful setting!”
We had a really great time at Sunrise Villas. Easy check-in and out and a great place from which to go exploring on the island. Not at the main beaches which ads the pro of it being nice and quiet at night - no blaring music but it also means you have to walk to swim (the beach it's on is rocky and not suitable for swimming although incredibly beautiful), it's only about 15 minutes walking though so we really didn't mind. Staff were friendly although everything was a little haphazard but the room was clean and had all the basics that you need. Not a luxury hotel but a really great place to spend a few nights at a reasonable price. No complaints here!

Great location, stones throw from the water.”
I took my wife here for our 2 year anniversary. We had our teething 6 month old with us as well. The location was awesome! 5 min walk from the boat dock, though far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful. The front wall of the room is fully glass, sliding door, which makes for amazing views of the ocean sunrise in the morning. The glass has a 1 way tint on it so you can see out but others can't see in, unless your light is on. The staff was really friendly and spoke English well. The morning we left I was even given a ride in a side car with my suitcase to the dock. Our son was pretty fussy with his teeth, yet the people in the room next to us, 2 rooms per bungalow, said they couldn't hear him. Only bad thing was the matress was bad. Very squeaky when you move at all and also if you leave the bathroom door open, Mosquitos will get in. The window in the bathroom doesn't have screen. There was also gecko in the room, but living in Thailand, we haven't found a place they can't get into. All in all I would recommend this to anyone. The city center is maybe a 10 min walk so you can enjoy that, then head back to the quiet of the hotel.

Exceptional”
This was my second visit to Samet and I had seen these little bungalows from the pier when I arrived the last time I was there, so I decided to check them out. I wasn't disappointed, perhaps because it was the low season, but I generally found it very quiet. The boats or jet skis didn't bother me ( I was in Room 4) and I had a lovely peaceful stay, only interrupted once by a Thai woman next door (I think) shouting at someone for about 15 minutes. These are 1000-1200 baht a night villas so if you're expecting the sort of service and frills/luxuries etc that you will get at a 5,000-10,000 baht a night 5 Star hotel - I'd say don't come here and complain. It's simple but clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The cleaners don't go round singing 'Oh what a beautiful morning' - but why should they...?! Steps a tiny inconvenience for me with a bad back, but the breakfast is decent, view lovely, the bed was comfortable, bathroom clean. I would definitely recommend this place :)

Beautiful view, chilled resort”
We had a lovely relaxed stay at Sunrise Villas. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when we were there but other restaurants were in walking distance. The host is English and very friendly and welcoming. The view was lovely to wake up to in the morning and the hammocks on the veranda were nice to chill out in. There is a little makeshift bar on the Main Street called Audi's bar where a nice Thai man called Audi teaches you Thai phrases while you have a drink. The little beach near the hotel is nice and quiet. Definitely recommend Sunrise Villas

Clean, basic accommodation with a stunning view. ”
As we approached the island we could see villas at the seafront and guessed that these were ours. Although, nothing spectacular to look at initially, when we were shown to our room we were pleasantly surprised. The view from the balcony was spectacular. The room itself, was very clean with air conditioning, a television and a safe. We only stayed one night at the sunrise villas but would have happily stayed longer.

the Best place to stay on the island”
I’m third time on the island. Stayed in the hotel two times. If I go to Ko Samed I am going to stay at Sunrise villas again. It takes 2 mins to get here from the pier, 7/11 is just round the corner, the village is 5 minutes to go. I can watch sea laying in the bed. All what you need they’ve got. The best place to stay over in Thailand!
