I booked for one night and ended up staying for five. The guesthouse is clean, safe, comfortable, and very conveniently located - next to a big market and a two-minute walk from the river. Lots of restaurants nearby, motorbikes to get anywhere, and the feeling of being smack in the center of local Kratie life. Loved the fact that this guesthouse has a spacious rooftop, complete with hammocks, view of the sunset and of the moon. There's Internet and even free Kundalini yoga. The staff was wonderful - friendly, accommodating, and makes you feel at home. Great place - would totally stay again.

Good stay ”
I had a really good stay at the dorm room. Yes, it gets really hot and yes there is no A/C but the guesthouse is located at the best location right next to the market where you can buy rice and food at all hours during the day and evening. The staff was the kindest. Also the restaurant downstairs is nicely decorated and it is great place to spend time outside your room other than the fantastic balcony overlooking the market. There is a breeze in the balcony, that starts from 9 pm or so. So even if it gets too hot you can always cool down sitting at the balcony ;)

We were only meant to stay for 1 night and we ended up staying for 3. We really enjoyed our stay. This family run guesthouse is right I'm the centre and the staff are so helpful. The food was great, fresh food made from scratch when you order! The owner goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your stay, he took us to see the dolphins and waited around to bring us back again. Would defo stay here again!!

Lovely place needing some TLC”
I loved the hotel overall including the balcony with hammocks an the food was good priced and tasty. Staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are artistically painted with cool designs. But the bathroom had no sink just a floppy tap and the shower was just a tube. But I would stay there again hoping the bathroom had been sorted out!

The location is perfect, the restaurant is very good at reasonable price, the staff and the owner are very helpful and friendly and speak good English. The room I stayed was very good, clean and big, with 2 fans. And there is a terrace on the first floor.

Easy to find and convenient ”
This is part of takao restaurant and right opposite the market which makes it both brilliantly convenient and pretty noisy from about 5.30 am (& the night I was here I was lucky enough to ha e karaoke at the place under my room until late). I was there in rainy season so fewer people going thru / staying and services reduced. Rooms are up one steep staircase. My room was fine - the reception (rather grumpily I thought) came up to help when I couldn’t open the window & did battle with it by standing on the desk. There was an iron (which I was amazed by but didn’t test) There is a big balcony overlooking the market (& a roof terrace that was locked when I was there) So all good & the other rooms I peeked into also looked similar. Cold water shower The restaurant downstairs serves a good range of food. Tho more expensive than others (eg I was paying 60c for ice coffee elsewhere vs $1.25 here) but with all that rain it’s easier to stay here and watch the world go by Note: the lady at reception speaks v good English and the owner (also tuk tuk driver) speaks English and french

Don't book through Agoda ”
Just FYI - although we personally managed to check in after booking via agoda (the manager wasn't around). We saw two other parties unable to check in as the manager said that he doesn't use Agoda and they were fully booked. It was really cheap and a really good location - there isn't a lot to do in Kratie apart from the dolphins so there isn't much around. The restaurant downstairs was really good food and cheap. There should have been a rooftop terrace/bar but it was closed - looks shut for good. They downside to this places was the amount of animals - in 3 months of travelling around Asia I honestly haven't come across too many cockroaches and we had two in our room, a lot of mosquitoes and a rat in the restaurants. Kratie is really rural so it maybe should be expected?! The room was ok, mosquito nets but holes in the external walls so there were a lot. Cold shower (expected for the price). Also FYI no Wifi in the rooms.

When we arrived the mattress was really hard and old. However, the owner changed it in less than 1 hour. The rooms are clean and perfect and the staff really nice and helpful. I completely recommend it

cheap backpacker guesthouse”
this guesthouse is just a very cheap option. the rooms are big and basic, but there is no privacy as there are slats at the top of the wall that adjoin to the next room that allow you to hear everything from the next roon. beds are crap and old. can feel all the springs. be aware reception is on the roof. sitting area up stairs is quite nice and good view of the streets of kratie. owners and staff were not helpful and were more occupied with getting high that helping guests.

The Mattress was comfortable but the room was not clean. The tap of the bathroom's sink made a strange loud noise sometimes when we were not using it, which was very annoying, especially at night. We could see the light from another room's bathroom and hear very clearly people talking from there as the wall was opened at the top between our room and their bathroom. They ask 2000 KHR for water refill, which is the price of a new big bottle.

All in all probably the best choice for backpackers in town. But --> the staff is really not friendly, --> the rooftop, which they write is amazing for sunset, is not available, --> and in the middle of the night the water pipe will start to "sing" very loud! They can arrange pretty cheap bus tickets for you, but you will get the worst seats in there. Scooter for $6 is pretty ok...

Can’t recommend”
The room was super hot even though we stayed there during ine if the colder month of the year. Toilet was just usable but seen worse. Prepare to wake up early together with locals shopping on the market and loud speakers shouting news or commercials. Good side is restaurant downstairs and being just in the center of this town but it’s rather small one so nowhere is far anyway. You get what you pay for

I arrived at what I thought was the place, hauled my bag up 24 steep stone steps ans showed the lady the address asking if it was the correct address she's said no ans said these didn't know where it was. I went back onto the street to find people pointing me back in that direction. I went back up the stairs and asked to see the booking book to WHIcH my name was written. I was bursting for the loo and a shower after my long bus journey to find no toilet paper and no water whatsoever. When asked about this I was told 'well your in Cambodia'. On the night time I had to put my mattress on the floor to sleep because the fans they had only blew across the floor.

nice stylish room with good location”
we spend 2 nights at the hostel in a double room with toilet, good location and a really nice rooftop bar for chilling out and enjoy drinks and the view. rooms little noisy because quite close to the central local market in town that start being active early in the morning.

Disappointing and dirty ”
the room was not very clean, there was water all over the floor when we arrived. No toilet paper in the bathroom. Cold shower. No air conditioning so extremely hot at night, although we did know this before so only had ourselves to blame for that. Staff didn't speak any English only the owner but he wasn't very helpful. One good thing about this place was its location, it's right by the market and a minute walk to the river front and there are a few nice restaurants very close who will also book you tours and buses.
