          A 350 year old temple inn, Shukubo Daishinbo offers Japanese-style accommodation, a large public bath and free Wi-Fi. Featuring a garden and free parking, the property lies surrounded by nature. Guests can witness Buddhist prayers. Daishinbo Shukubo is a 10-minute walk from the Haguro Pagoda, while Mount Haguro is a 10-minute drive and the Mount Haguro Ski Area is a 15-minute drive. Tsuruoka Station is a 25-minute drive, and Shonai Airport a 40-minute drive. Rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor, an LCD TV and air conditioning.           An extraordinary experience with welcoming staff, gratifying meals and unusual accommodations.”

          The vegetarian food was exceptional, creatively prepared, delicious and delightful. The staff was courteous, the room was spacious, the temple grounds was serene and natural, and the overall atmosphere refreshing and unexpectedly amiable, especially the monk. He added our names into his prayers !
          It was not easy to get to without a car, but the JR train did take us close enough to walk to the temple.

          Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. We stayed three nights and the food was different for every meal! Our room was spacious, we even had a private toilet. Even though the Shukubo was fully booked, it was very quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location very close to the entrance of Mt. Haguro. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

          Breakfast and dinner, both were great and included in the price. Location was convenient for going to Dewa Sanzan mountains. The bath has an ofuro which is appreciated after a day in the mountain. The family running the accommodation is very attentive and the morning ritual was unique.
          Restroom was in a different floor than our bedroom.

          Superb”

          It was a unique experience to stay at a Buddhist temple, and start the morning with a shinto ritual before breakfast. The place is located in a beautiful, quiet surrounding, close to Mount Haguro and the famous five storied pagoda. The staff is very friendly, helpful, kind. The dinner and breakfast were plentiful, delicious, real washoku experience with lots of local vegetables and ingredients from the mountains around. The rooms are all washitsu and very spacious. One of the best places I've ever stayed at and an unforgettable experience. Everyone from the family enjoyed. Good place to stay, a good starting point for a one day hiking in Mount Haguro.
          There was no problem with this place. I'm happy we stayed here.
