Excellent location, close to subway, cheap!”

Seoul Guesthouse is tucked in a small alley just a few minutes from the subway station. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the station, but I know it's mentioned in another review. I walked right in; Miss Joe has your name on a piece of paper taped to the door of your room that says "Welcome new guest!" My original room was kind of hot and stuffy, so Miss Joe kindly moved me to another room which was colder. You take your shoes off and place on the rack and wear flip flops, which are provided, but you don't wear anything in the rooms. The rugs weren't vacuumed so it was kind of nasty to walk barefooted on them. There are no sheets; there's a thin mattress-protector that serves as your sheets. The only blanket is a comforter, which is fine, but idk if it gets washed after each guest! You can come and go freely. There are 2 full baths inside and one half bath outside. There is a small kitchen with fridge and filtered water. For $9USD per night in Seoul, you can't beat it!

Great stay. Needed to come here to be closer to the Embassy of Japan located in Jeongno. 20 mins walk/transportation to the Embassy. About 30mins away from Hongdae. Guesthouse is located deep in the city area with various stores and restaurants. The walk to the guesthouse is quite an adventure! Just be sure to look for the sign to enter through the pathway. It was a nice little old guesthouse but don't expect a luxurious one. For the price and location it's good! Room was your typical dorm style beds. Think most plugs had at least one Korean plug adapter. Entrance was equipped with lock for the nights. The showers surprised me because in America and some in Japan the showers were separated from the toilet but in this guesthouse it was combined in one same room. Didn't know about that before but actually most guesthouses in Korea are like that. People coming to this guesthouse will get a good taste of Korea I think! Also Miss Jo is very helpful and responsive! Thank you!

The best cheap dorm if u just need a place to put your stuff and sleep”

I stayed here many times because I love the location. Its near to jongno3ga station which makes u easier to move around Seoul because theres 3 different lines of subway operating there. The room for 6 bed mix bedroom is quite spacious for its price. I always only need place to put my stuff and sleep so this place is perfect for me. I would absolutely come here again if I come to Korea again next time.

Truly the best hostel location of ALL TIME!!!”

You are a 30-60 seconds walk (depending on the traffic light) into the digital beating heart of Seoul. An endless feast for your eyes is literally right around the corner. But it’s not SO close that the noise from the massive crowds of people make its way to the hostel. I originally planned to stay here one night because I didn’t have a fixed itinerary and wanted to explore the rest of South Korea. But then I kept extending my stay again and again and again because of the awesome entertainment and shopping within arm’s... no, elbow’s reach. Plus the owner is very nice and the place is clean and comfortable. What more could you possibly ask for? I would give this 10 stars out of 5 if I could. for me, the guesthouse is fine . I sleep and go , I dont stay in my bed most of the time so I look for a budget friendly guesthouse ( I also consider the tax added lol) so this guesthouse what I found.

Worse night ever”

I stayed only one night in the female dormitory and had my worse night ever! I had to wake up at 3am the previous night in Japan because of my early flight to Seoul and was really looking forward to my bed in this guesthouse, but the girls in my room (i believe from Philippines) were still talking loud and moving loudly there stuff in the room around midnight (light on)! I was that close to call the staff to ask to swich off the light and ask the girls to shut up when the lady staff came (without me calling for her) and asked if one of us could change to another room because a couple had just arrived and they didn't want to sleep together... it was almost 1am!!! WTF??? When are we supposed to sleep here ??? The girls finally swich off the light around 2am. I had to wake up at 7am: BIG thank you! In addition, the shower room was "korean style" so you get to shower inside the toilet room... which is very uncomfotable, the toilet seat and the toilet paper get wet in few seconds and you cannot put your dry clothes anywhere... very unpleasant. The only good point of this guesthouse, they have free shower soap, free tooth paste and free clean towels...

Great place for a low budget”

Its clean and so close to Seoul city center. Sometimes there are some mosquitoes but they have nonsmoke mosquitoes killer which worked so well.

Me and my friend made really good friends with Joe (Ms), the owner of the guesthouse. She has responded very quick to our needs and when we were finding the place. Value for money and better chances of meeting new friends! Joe is a fantastic host and we love her!

Cheap and that is about it”

I ain't a fuzzy guest, but this was a lesson for me that you get what you pay for. First of all, the guest house is very difficult to find. It took me more than 15 minutes to figure out this narrow alley where you have to turn in and walk for 20m before making a right turn to find the main door. I was completely locked out and lost upon arrival. You will be disappointed if you are expecting basic form of reception. My advice is to have the lady boss' phone number ready when you arrive. I felt the room has not been cleaned for some time. The air was dusty and stagnant. The carpet and floor was dirty. There was some smell in the comforter and pillow. There was a night where there were only 5 guests but the lady boss cramped all of us in one room despite having other empty rooms available. I guessed the rationale was to cut down on the floor heating utilities at the expense of the guests' comfort. My other concern is the toilets. Though clean, there are only 2 toilets but I think the maximum occupancy is up to 20-30 people. The toilet-to-occupant ratio is something to be improved on in my opinion. The location of the guesthouse is rather good however. 1 minute walk to cheonggyecheon, 5 minutes walk from subway (line 4 euljiro4ga, line 3 jongno3ga), 15 minutes walk to myeongdong, 15 minutes walk to insadong. Good luck if you are staying here.

Take note that you have to check-in yourself, when you enter the place, just look for the room with your name on paper pasted on the door, I didn't know it at the time so I waited for quite a while sitting at the counter lmao. The location was great, it was in the middle of everything so I just walked most of the time. Good place for you if you're fine with walking 20-40 minutes to the happenings. Has plenty of subway options as well.

My flight was delayed until 3am but Jo gave me all the maps and passwords I needed to get into my room. Super friendly lady with a super comfy place.

Budget Friendly”

Location is great, near Insa-dong (where you can buy stuff for ‘pasalubong’), literally just across the street of the area. We didn’t really had more time to stay and interact with the owner or other guests because we had a packed itinerary. WiFi, Hot and Cold Shower, Toilettries are provided. If you travel on a budget, then it’s a recommended.

Cheap, but don't expect anything more”

Location is good, very near the metro and in between Myeongdong and Insadong. However the guesthouse is in a dark back alley which made me feel a little unsafe. Main door and room doors also have no lock and there were no staff. Place was a dirty and messy, with no other facilities. Room was cramped and beds had no privacy as well. Basically just a place to sleep and nothing more.

The location was great - short walk to the subway and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Too bad I didn't meet the owner or any staff but regardless it was a good stay.

For the money I paid it was really good, it might be a little difficult to find but is really near to 3 lines of subway and a bus stop so I think it's really good. The host is a really nice lady, she's funny and really helpful. Sometimes the room can be a little dirty cause there are so many people, but nothing disgusting.
