Terrific low season getaway”
Decided to visit Koh Mak island for the first time, during 'low'/rainy season, and were a bit apprehensive about whether we'd run into foul weather... But the weather turned out much better than expected, and got a great deal with off season rates. Don't be afraid to go during rainy season, as it's on/off (for us, nearly all off in terms of rain even though it was forecasted for 100% rain!) There are 9 individual bungalow shaped 'units,' that are very modern and comfortable, with air con, TV, and large private baths. Believe it or not, we were the only visitors during our stay, so we basically had the resort to ourselves. A staff person (K. Fa in our case) will pick up and drop off from the pier for free. Beaches are not far off, either walk or rent a motorbike (300b/day), and we did a brief tour of the small island by bike which was nice. Since we used so little fuel, it wasn't necessary to fill up. We spent most of our time relaxing near the infinity pool, which is cleaned every morning. There are also books and a few board games as well. Sea Breeze is owned by a Thai family, and we want to thank K. Noi and K. Fa in particular for their personalized service. All the staff speak English well enough for an easy stay. They also put up a hammock for us upon request. The food was good, too, and you can request Thai/Asian breakfast instead of the standard American fare - Try their seafood fried rice or rice soup. Like other reviewers, Koh Mak isn't a place to book up your day with activities, but a very nice, quiet getaway from wherever you're running from. Cheers!

Beautiful rooms,magnificent view, nice staff!!”
Koh mak is a good place to be if you want something that´s not as quiet as koh kod or as "populated" as koh Chang. Perfect little island with beautiful places, good food, lot of tours, a beautiful "sister" island (Koh Rayang), and Sea Breeze is the perfect hotel to stay at! They have new facilities. 7-8 houses/rooms, so its not to big! Beautiful pool with a magnificent view! And last but not least, the staff is beyond friendly! So serviceminded and they´ll become your friends! The beach is a 15min walk away or you can rent a scooter (there is no trafic on koh mak), otherwise you got the pool to cool down in!?

Silence, good sea breeze and atmosphere ”
We arrived in Koh Mak and were picked up by the hotel. They drove us to the other side of the island where the hotel sits on a hill. It´s a bit away from everything and the first thing we noticed was the silence and breeze from the ocean. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. You can see the ocean from every room. The staff did everything they could to make us feel like home. The food is great but a boring siting area. The pool is super nice and clean. If you walk for about 25 minutes you will reach the islands most beautiful beach. If you prefer scooter, they have these to rent for only 300 baht a day. Skip Koh Chang and go to laid back Koh Mak. You won´t regret it. We stayed for 8 nights and this is one of the nicest hotel I ever stayed in. Highly recommended!

Peace of mind”
We were a month in thailand and Koh Mak & Sea Breeze was the best combination in our trip. Koh Mak was beautiful island and Sea Breeze is very nice place. Quiet, nice pool, good food with low prices. Owner was very nice and helpful. Everything works well. Wifi is fast everywhere in the resort. 10 points!

Great hotel, very nice staff and food”
If I go back to Koh Mak I know where to stay, I will certainly re-book sea breeze. We had a very nice staying, superb view on the sea, good food. The hotel in not right on the beach, taxi or scooter rental is necessary. The are is extremely calm, don't expect bars and clubs around there, nor in the entire island. I definitely recommend this hotel

Fabulous holiday”
We had a lovely holiday at Sea Breeze. We were met at the jetty on arrival at Koh Mak by a taxi from Sea Breeze and also taken back when we left the island. We had a very warm welcome from the staff. The room was cleaned to a high standard and bedding was changed every other day, towels every day. The pool was a real highlight - very nice to come back to to cool off after another busy day at the beach.

Hidden escape”
A good stay. It's a hidden escape on a beautiful island. The food was excellent as were all the staff. The rooms were clean but a little tired - probably need updating but at the price, nothing to worry about. The hotel is on the coast with great views and an infinitely pool with an amazing view. But it's a long way (by koh mak standards) to the beaches, so you need to call a songthaew or be happy riding a motorbike - which you can rent from the hotel. You can also rent cycles at the sea breeze, but you'll be hot! If you want isolation on a great tropical island, this is ideal. Pick up and return to the piers as well as ferry bookings by the hotel were seamless. On the beach... Beware the sandflies!

Very nice hotel with amazing view”
Sea Breeze is a very nice hotel with new rooms and neat landscape around. Being located on a hill, it has a view to the north from the island (Koh Kood island can be seen). The view is amazing, and indeed possible to feel sea breeze (at least during rainy season). The staff is very friendly and helpful. After arrival to Ao Nid pier by boat we have called them for pick up and the pick up truck arrived after 5-7 minutes. So one should not worry about getting there following the boat trip. Hotel restaurant has a selection of local and european dishes, although some items were not available, possibly due to low season. Motorbikes are offered at the hotel for rent with a price of 300 baht per day to get around the island.

Sea Breeze.....The only place to stay in Koh Mak! ”
Sea Breeze in Koh Mak in my opinion is the only place to stay when visiting there. The Service was terrific and the views, Swimming Pool and Room was magical. Fantastic Hotel and Staff.

Best Resort on Koh Mak Island ”
A bit comical and perplexing how other commenters find the location disappointing. You are on a small, tropical, remote island. There is no city, not large towns, no noise, no cacophony of foolish hooligans, and that is exactly why we chose the Sea Breeze. The staff was perfectly attentive, kind, gracious, and helpful. They made special arrangements for flowers and a cake for my wife’s birthday. The room was wonderful, set on the slope overlooking the ocean, set amidst several types of local trees and plants. Even the depth and placement of the infinity pool was done right. The bed was a California King, it was huge even for me and I am 6’2”. The room had enormous panoramic windows offering an IMAX like view of the ocean and surrounding islands. We watched the stars at night, soaking in the peacefulness, silence, and enjoying the romantic solitude together. The food was great. The complimentary breakfast was very good. We rented a motorbike, such an easy, no fuss, no muss, thing to do. In less than an hour we slowly puttered around most of the roads on this small and beautiful island. We found some nice places to stop and swim, snorkel, and further enjoy the peacefulness. Sea Breeze is managed and maintained by people who get it. So often in this country the opposite is true. Often taken advantage of, felt cheated, or not given the level of service one would expect for the money paid. Sea Breeze is an exception. The staff was unobtrusive, but always available when needed, the place is beautiful, and the room was wonderful. We stayed for six days; hope to return for a longer stay.

Very nice place & friendly owner / staff”
We loved it. It's not at one of the two main beaches (which was a pro for us as it is very quiet there) and also, Koh Mak is small so it's very easy to get anywhere quickly with a scooter (which you can rent at the resort). Very nice pool, bungalows etc and the owner is very friendly and helpful, too.

Best run and most comfortable hotel on Koh Mak!”
We had the most relaxing time in the deluxe sea breeze bungalow for $95 CDN, including breakfast for 2! Huge soft king size bed with soft fluffy pillows, crisp white sheets and a thick white duvet= best sleep in Thailand! The windows lanai'd in the living room, the view was spectacular, the toilet area was glassed with a view too! The hotel was well run, and Noi took very good care of us! The grounds are very well tended by a hardworking staff, flower bushes and fruit trees abound with beautiful adobe concrete paths leading to brand new polished concrete bungalows with a 180 degree view of the ocean. Above a very small but interesting multicolored coral reef with few anemones but at least 20 different varieties of fish. Rocky shore to get past but more alive than the small coral reef in front of Ao Kao White Sand Beach Resort($105 for a "traditional" not modern bungalow) although the visibility was better at Ao Kao.

Really great place for relax!”
Everything was perfect, great value for money! Location a little bit far away from everything but I think this is only a plus for this property. Anyway you need a bike to discover Koh Mak, so you will get everywhere you need by it.

Great option if you have a motorbike ”
I thought good value. Clean, comfortable. If you can, rent a motorbike, many resorts (including this one) rent them. It was clean and comfortable, and the view was great even though no beach. A beautiful pool overlooks a nice view of the main pier that you come in to. Ko Mak is pretty low on traffic so if you are new ti motorbike I would say it’s a solid place to learn. If you are going to walk you might find it a bit far from where the restaurant strip as well as other two to 3 beaches that I visited. I can’t speak to the breakfast I typically stick to my exciting oatmeal that keeps me regular. Mmmm k!!

Great pool, bad location”
We were a little disspaointed with the location, luckily you can easily rent scooters for 300 baht per day. The roads in Koh Mak are very safe so we were comfortable to ride around. The pool was stunning and definatly the highlight of the hotel. The staff were Helpful but not very chatty-in fact I'm not sure they have a great understanding of English-but that's fine-we are in Thailand! I loved Koh Mak but in future I'd stay down by monkey island as you can be right on the beach and eat to a few bars/restaurants. There is no beach here.

The rooms looked much bigger and nicer online and, although the hotel gardens are beautiful, some of the rooms look out onto a bit of a wasteland area, with the ocean on the background. The beach is quite far and you need to have your own transport, as there is nothing nearby. We enjoyed our stay there but ended up moving to another hotel on the beach as they are the great thing about koh Mak.

Our stay was fantastic; the staff were really helpful, the room was cleaned every day, breakfast good and the restaurant was good, too. The hotel was in the quiet part of the island, not directly on the beach, but if you rent a scooter, you can go to any place on the island within a few minutes. we found no weaknesses and we will definitelly visit Sea Breeze again

Great place for holiday”
It was a very pleasant experience to stay at Sea Breeze, very very nice room with a great view of the ocean, the resort is surround by green plants. The swimming pool is a plus, staff were very friendly and helpful, food was really good. The resort is very well located, close to beaches, so you can rent a bike from the resort and scroll around the island. Will definitely come back again.

I definitely recommend getting a room with a sea view; I spent so much time on the wonderful balcony. The staff was very attentive and helpful. My one recommendation would be to make sure you are comfortable with riding a motorbike, as Sea Breeze is quite far from beaches and restaurants.
