    “peaceful stay in takayama ”

I stayed in the all girls dorm and it was great. Quiet, clean, a beautiful view of the city. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, and the owners are both extremely polite and helpful. It's a bit of a haul from the train station (uphill for some of it), but the guesthouse offers a free shuttle that you can catch at certain times of the day.

“I was able to check in smoothly even in the middle of the night.”

At 10:30 PM upon arrival, people from Canada, the USA, and India were chatting in the kitchen. I was happy that they greeted me even when I arrived tired. The kitchen was equipped with more cutlery, dishes, a microwave, a stove, and pots than my own home. I was able to enjoy breakfast leisurely and comfortably while relaxing in the kitchen and watching TV. The room had two sets of bunk beds, which felt like a luxurious sleeping arrangement for two people after a long time. If someone is not comfortable with a sense of confinement, an eye mask might be a good idea. Also, the morning walk was rich in nature, which revived my spirits (laughs). I was able to take memorable photos with the teddy bear face cutout panel. My choice was based on price to get a good sleep, but I would like to make another reservation when I visit Takayama again or when I feel like speaking English after a long time.

    Shared Dormitory (Female-Only)

    “I want to stay again!”

This time, I used the shared dormitory (for women). The staff's response was very wonderful! The facility was clean and comfortable, and I felt very at ease. The surrounding environment had a lot of nature, and the wooden building gave me a sense of familiarity, as if I had come to my parents' countryside home. It was very convenient that the parking lot was free for moving around. There seemed to be many customers from various countries, not just Japanese people. It was reasonable, offered a high degree of freedom, and was comfortable, so I definitely want to use this place again when I visit Takayama in the future.

    “a homey guest house”

100% recommend! - great location, near hida folk village - comfy beds, i came winter time and they have the bed heater, dorm beds are actually large singles, the ceiling height if you're at the bottom bunk is high so you don't feel cramped. there's enough space for your things. and lots of privacy as there are thick bed curtains and room dividers in some areas. just wishing for a second pillow if possible hehe. the bed also has a light and shelves so very practical for your small things, there's a clothes rack for jackets and towels. - the heating in the room is good. the eating area has a fire place! which was so cool to look at and really warmed up the room. the shower room also has a heater. the only cold areas were the hallways and toilet room (heater was broken i think) but not really a problem, just move fast haha - place is clean! lots of information. they can give you a map of nearby restaurants - there's a morning shuttle to the train station which was SUPER helpful as the local bus only arrives at around 9am onwards. the bus station to most tourist areas is also beside the train station so whether you use train/bus, the shuttle is useful - takayama is a good base for a lot of places. i went to shirakawago (west), hida (north), and hirayu (east). south would also be gero. - kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook. they have free water and coffee if you like. someone was also cooking rice but i dont know if that one was for everyone. - staff was super nice! :) my bag broke and they lent me a sewing kit to fix it. i also came in super late, around 10pm+ but i called ahead asking if that was ok and they said it was. they left a note/instructions for me in the lobby - they have coin laundry so no need to bring so many clothes. shower has the basic amenities (soap, shampoo, and conditioner) - there's wifi too i love this place! thank you for the great stay! more power to you guys :)

“Nice and Cozy place with kind staffs”

A bus/taxi ride or 20 mins walk away from the train station and bus center. But they offer a shuttle service every morning to their guests going to the train station. The place is clean and felt cozy. The mountain views from the window are very nice. It's also clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. Made friends with my dormmates. Note: Shower area is located on the first floor, not necessarily on the dorm room's floor. And more than 10 mins walk away from the nearest Fam Mart I think. Overall, would recommend and go back here again.
