Cozy little hotel with a great location”

I stayed here with my wife and 2 month old son and we had a wonderful time. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful right from the time we pulled up. They handled our baggage, gave us tea and cold towels, and had our room ready in minutes.They even parked my car for me! The best part about the hotel is its location. It's located in the historic part of Bangkok right across the street from Wat Pho and very close to the Grand Palace. The rooftop restaurant is a MUST as the view doesn't get any better in Bangkok. Most other rooftop hotel restaurants in Bangkok only give you city views but the fact that Riva Arun is right on the river and its proximity to so many iconic landmarks makes it unique. The food is also quite good. It's a Thai fusion of sorts, mixing with some western style dishes. Thankfully there was also enough space to accommodate my son's stroller as well. Overall fabulous stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a beautiful location with lots to see and do nearby.

Amazing location and views!”

We had a really great time at Riva Arun. We stayed in the Deluxe Room facing Wat Arun and had the most gorgeous view. The rooftop bar and restaurant are great, except at dusk when tons of bugs show up. The staff was very hospitable! It was a very easy pick up from the airport. The staff was able to arrange a floating market tour for us with very short notice, and that was wonderful as well. Every time we left the hotel, they inquired where we were going and asked if we needed any help. I wish I remembered the name of the staff, but one member would tell us how much we should be paying for a tuk-tuk so that we wouldn't get taken advantage of. It's very close to lots of temples and great restaurants. We would love to stay here again if we could! READ UP ON TUK TUK SCAMS IF YOU ARE VISITING THAILAND, ESPECIALLY BANGKOK. We were able to dodge quite a few because we had done research, but we sadly ran into many other travelers who had been scammed. Please do yourself a favor and research!

Spectacular River View with Jacuzzi ”

I booked this hotel for my parents. They spent their last two night of holidays in Riva Arun Hotel, this is a very good location where you can enjoy the spectacular river view And Wat Arun day and night. And the Grand PalAce and Wat Pho are nearby the hotel. You can also access to Wat Arun by local ferry by only 4 THB. There are also many nice restaurants and cafe. My parents stayed at the King Suite in which they can enjoy Jacuzzi on balcony. They are satisfied with the whole experience. They wanna give some advices to Riva Arun Hotel, it would be perfect if these can be improved. 1. At night, it was a bit noisy and oily on the balcony, cos’ they were a few restaurants in front of the hotel. 2. The bathroom is too big (haha) 3. There was only one rubbish bin in the suite, adding one or more would be great. 4. The coffee machine was a bit dusty. The rest is great!

Great Property / Great Location / Great View”

The Riva Arun is a gem in the old town of Bangkok. The views (from both the rooms and the restaurant/bar are second to none. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and the restaurant serves great food. As a first-time traveler to Bangkok, we could not have been happier with our choice of the Riva Arun Bangkok!

Great experience with only one real complaint”

Took my wife here for her birthday as a surprise. We live in Bangkok city center so it was a nice 'staycation' experience. Booked the Jacuzzi suite and got the corner room. The room: Upon entering the suite I was blown away. It's a beautiful room with two amazing views. The first being of Wat Pho. From your bed and through a large picture window you look out over the golden pagodas and temple buildings. At sun set the gold accents look like they are on fire. Stunning. From the patio, you can relax in a jacuzzi with a chilled bottle of champagne and watch the sunset behind the famous Temple of the Dawn aka Wat Arun. All of the scaffolding has now been removed, the night flood lights are back on and it looks as beautiful as ever. The room itself has a nice layout and while not overly spacious, it is quite comfortable. The service: The front desk and room service staff were very friendly and for the most part took care of all of our needs with a smile. Check in and check out was a little slower than the average hotel/resort of this caliber but nothing that causes any real inconvenience. Their restaurant staff needs a bit of work. They seemed either confused or indifferent. Dining: This is the one area where they really could use some improvement. I've stayed at both of their properties (Riva Suriya is the other) and I found it to also have the same problem. Their happy hour is one of those 'custom' cocktail gimmicks with very little effort put into the quality or concept of the cocktails. Basically, just a glass of flavored watered down vodka. Adding beer and wine and common cocktails would be a better way to go. Speaking of drink options, they only serve the basics when it comes to beer but have a pretty extensive wine list but I found the prices to be quite unreasonable for the types offered. I ordered a whiskey sour but it was anything but. It was extremely sweet with no 'sour' and was also served in a champagne glass, no ice, and quite small. At first, I tho

Exceptional”

We greatly enjoyed our brief stay at Riva Arun Bangkok! The view and food at the rooftop restaurant were great! The staff coordinated a tuk tuk driver to take us around for an hour to see the evening lights and walk around the flower market. A wonderful experience! Will stay here again!

Great location, beautiful hotel, amazing staff! ”

Beautiful modern recently updated boutique hotel in the perfect location for site seeing- literally across the street from Wat Pho and grand palace. The view of Wat Arun across the river is gorgeous especially from the cozy rooftop bar. We found ourselves up there at least once daily to enjoy the food and some snacks or full meals - the food was amazing! The staff was very hospitable and helpful, more than willing to answer all of our questions and even going above and beyond in some cases to help us make local phone calls for reservations and inquiries. We had an amazing stay, thank you to all of the staff at Riva Arun!

Beyond expectations ”

This property is nicely appointed and in a great location. The staff were exceptional in every way and more than willing to go the extra mile. Unlike other places I have stayed in Bangkok and been incredibly “underwhelmed”, this place exceeded in every regard. Wat Arun is right across the river, a great rooftop resto affording you wonderful views of the bustling river (a little pricey but great food and view), amazing massage around the corner (associated with a college of massage a couple of doors down from the hotel - ask for Som!), a great little coffee shop at the corner, and not too far from some of the best vegetarian food in the world (Mango), a 2 minute walk to Wat Pho and the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, as well as a 46m long reclining Buddha, and right around the corner from the palace! On my way to the airport I was already online booking my next stay here when I return in a few weeks!

Hidden gem in a great location”

This hotel was such a pleasant find! We stayed here on a "staycation" as we live in Bangkok, and were happily surprised at its great location in relation to landmarks such as Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Museum Siam, etc. The staff is very friendly. The rooms, while small, are well designed, and the bed was super comfortable. The rooftop restaurant offers amazing views of the Chao Phraya and surrounding temples. I'll definitely be staying here again, and recommending to others!

Wonderful boutique hotel in Bangkok Old Town”

All staffs there are incredibly helpful, friendly and generous. I really wonder what kind of training program they use, but the management should be very proud of their staffs. We booked the cheapest room there, but it's also a wisely planned and well decorated one with high quality bedding. Their rooftop restaurant offers stunning view of both sides and food was very good too. Perfect location to explore the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. If you want to see Bangkok Old Town in style, this is a place to stay.

A jewel”

Wonderful boutique hotel, with a perfect location on the river, straight across from Wat Arun, one of the most beautiful temples in Bangkok, especially at night. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and a couple of outdoor markets are all walking distance. Very friendly staff and a lovely rooftop restaurant. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Staycation hotel near Wat Pho”

We chose to stay at Riva Arun as we often visit another nearby hotel for dinner. This was a staycation so it was a short trip. The location is good for a short trip but with little room and not much in the way of facilities it would be better suited to a couple/single traveller than a family. We moved to the other property for our 2nd night the Riva Surya which was a better hotel for our needs. The location of Riva Arun is fantastic for Wat Pho, Wat Arun, and the less explored Wat Rakang and nearby market. Great areas to explore.

Almost perfect!”

Location - perfect. Front desk and room servicing staff - perfect. Absolutely loved how they gave us water when we were going out and when we came home (it felt like coming home!). Plus the cool towels on our return were very much appreciated. They treated both of us equally and went out of their way to help us. The Premier Jacuzzi Suite was fabulous except that there is nowhere to put your suitcase except on the floor/bed/sofa. Hotel needs to supply luggage stands. The safe is on the floor and that is very difficult especially for older people. We had 2 breakfasts and my experience was not the best. The staff serving breakfast gave their attention to my male partner and were less attentive to me. When he finished his plate it was removed immediately unlike when I finished mine. They addressed him and not me. I felt dismissed as unimportant. This is unacceptable in a 4* hotel in 2019. Apart from the 19th century attitude of the breakfast staff, I would 100% recommend Viva Arun.

Pleasant stay at Riva Arun”

Great location. Breathtaking view of Wat Arun at night from the restaurant . Rooms are clean though a bit small. Good quality bedding and amenities. Breakfast is nice.. Staff are polite and helpful. Our small group has a pleasant short stay and will definitely stay at this hotel again .

Exceptional”

Excellent friendly staff. Large comfortable bed. Superb location within walking distance of the Grand Palace , Wat Pho and a quick boat trip to Wat Arun which we could see from our bedroom. About 5 mins walk from Metro station Sanam Chai - we got the airport link to Makkasan Station which has a connecting walkway to Phetchaburi Metro and then on to Sanam Chai. Total cost for 2 on the airport link and Metro was under £4. Plenty places nearby to eat but many close early evening as they open early for the visitors to the temples but location not far from Chinatown for those wanting to eat later.

Great view, nice rooms, decent staff”

I stayed here my first night in Bangkok. I thought I was getting a deluxe room, but I do not believe I did. It took weeks to get confirmation for a car scheduled, but they pulled through. The room was clean but it took them 10 minutes to prepare it, even though they knew I was arriving at midnight. The rooftop bar was closed at night but breakfast on top was good. It's centrally located to a lot of the wats too.

I was able to see great scenery (Wat Arun) in the bathtub on a balcony. The best thing was seeing great sunset and beautiful sky. Staff were very friendly.
