Nothing much to rave about this hotel, but it is clean, fairly modern, fresh looking, just minutes away walking from the airport. What was a bit surprising that guests at check-in where offered to pay for WIFI, comes as a surprise as it is a 5 star hotel - really it should be complimentary, but when we checked-in at another counter, we were offered to join "Hilton Club" if I am not wrong, so that we could enjoy complimentary wifi... I have never received any emails on confirmation of my membership, so till now not sure - I am a member or not. Had to bring our own luggage upstairs as well - but we found that was in most hotels in Europe (we went to Germany, The Netherlands, Finland). Had room service at dinner, at it was delicious, though also we had to pay extra if I am not wrong 10 or 20 euros just for delivery... Thought that was a bit odd, never came across that one either.

The single rooms are small but so well designed, they don't feel cramped. It had everything you could need - comfortable bed, great shower, tea making facilities, well insulated, good climate control. It's perfect for travellers who are out all day and just need a comfortable place to sleep. The staff couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Breakfast is excellent - fresh, healthy, plentiful and the bar downstairs does drinks and delicious snacks. It's close to trams, trains and shops and the town centre is an easy walk. Best hotel I have stayed in for a long time and great value for money - for Helsinki.

We booked this for my uncle and my review is based on his experience. I've posted a separate review for my wife and I who had a room on a floor below. Room provided was on the top (8th) floor and was right at the end of the corridor, so not only was it quiet but well laid-out, clean and modern. Free wi-fi provided in the room as well as free robe, slippers, hair dryer, ironing board, safe, etc. All the little touches you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was a highlight too, as you get a lot of choice and finding a table was not an issue no matter how busy it was. The hotel's main tick in the "pros" column is the location however. A short walk from all the shops, it's also just across the street from the harbour, and an indoor food hall which is worth a few hours of your time. It's a foody paradise, with a mix of Finnish cuisine and international hard-to-get (in other parts of Finland) foods.

This is a very nice hotel and a very good option for the airport. We had a very early flight, so we didn't want to be far from the airport. They provided a shuttle at 1 am (when we got in) and at 4:30 am the day after to get back to the hotel. We also went into Helsinki and had a very nice day. The hotel hooked us up with a bus that is just a minute behind the hotel. We enjoyed the bus, the city, and the bus back to the hotel.

Strand is just like any other good hotel in Helsinki - they all seem to be pretty much the same. Despite the fact that Strand has the reputation of being one of the very best, it doesn't really stand out of the crowd. Don't take me wrong - Strand is still a very good hotel and I will be happy to stay there again! But not if the price is considerably higher than others'. Having said that, I must commend the staff for being able to allocate us a room already at 8 am although the official check-in time is only 2 pm. Also, the breakfast area is very pleasant, and I really enjoyed having a lazy Saturday morning breakfast there although the breakfast itself was not any different from any other major hotel in Helsinki - maybe even below that. I also enjoyed the sauna and the swimming pool, and the view from the swimming pool balcony is really nice.

I had a horrible time when I first arrived to checked in. I made a reservation through agoda for a private room (double bed) but when I arrived, the staff informed me that I was booked as a dorm. I showed my confirmation but the system had me as a dorm and they were sold out in private room to offer me. I contacted agoda and on a hold for 30 mins, but I could get connected. I was extremely stressed after 9hours of flight. Then the staff and a manager offered me a dorm bed (since I have no place to go) and helped me to cancel the reservation for a refund. it really was nice of them. Now, I am upset for agoda which might have ruined my trip to Helsinki, but cheapstay hotel saved me life. Although I left soon without sleeping nor trying the breakfast, I will definitely revisit when im back in Helsinki by booking from other channel rather than agoda. thanks again for everything and God bless all of you.

We were apprehensive booking there. Having booked it, we made no mistake. The hotel although in the periphery has a direct tram within 50 m taking you to the city centre in 20 mins. So, the city is accessible without having to pay exorbitant rates for a quality room. The hotel is based on the waterfront so the location is a real beauty. The neighbourhood is very quiet residential area (giving us a peek into everyday life of Hensinkians.) The rooms were large, the bathrooms even still. Since we booked in a super-saver plan, we did not get the lake facing rooms :-( The gym was average but the area is so beautiful that it is better to walk or a jog down the sea/lake every day. The breakfast was great in spread and quality and service standards better than other Hilton properties i have been to. The espresso could be better but pretty much everything else was in excellent shape. Great stay! Full credit to the management.

I spent two days in this great hotel and I will do the same next time I am in Finland. The hotel is located very close to the airport and not minding the fact I landed very late at night, the hotel sent their shuttle to pick me up. The room was spacious and had everything I ever wanted from wonderful lists of channels on the flat screen TV, a speedy wifi, clean towels, large bed with great pillows, a wonderful breakfast spread and excellent staff. The breakfast was simply awesome and was served from 3:30am till10am; that's the first I had met in my entire life. When I asked for a hot cup of milk for my cereals, the breakfast staff were fast in executing that. All the receptionists I met were fabulous and gave me directions on how to explore the city centre. They were equally hospitable and down to earth. The shuttle drivers were equally kind and well mannered. The hotel is simply one of the best and very cheap too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone willing to visit Finland.

I was staying here with one of my colleague for our business trip. The staff was very friendly. We asked for direction and they offer you a map for the locations nearby. They will be glad to tell you how to go to the city from Otaniemi too. Which bus to take etc. The food was great. I want to get the food again if I happen to visit this hotel again in the future. Overall, the stay is very satisfying

Pros : location of hotel is excellent Front desk staff was really good and helpful. Cons: pics in the website is misleading. It is actually a very small hotel. Don’t choose the rooms with no windows. This summer was extremely hot, there was no air conditioning in the room and it was like living in a box. The front desk staff was most helpful in getting us a portable air conditioner.

I booked Indigo for a longish weekend (Thursday-Sunday) while visiting the city and going to the Helsinki Craft Beer Festival. Really cozy little hotel, almost hidden in the facade, but spacious on the inside. Super helpful staff, and location is conveniently central, but in a part of town which did not feel overly crowded or busy at night. Just 10 minutes walk from the central station square. Trams stop closeby, and Uber will generally get you anywhere in Helsinki fairly cheap. Plenty of nice shops, restaurants and bars around the immediate area. Staff was, again, very helpful with recommending solid choices for breakfast, drinks... etc. in a variety of price ranges. Room was surprisingly large. Clean comfortable bed w. lots of pillows to choose from and what must be a quite recently renovated bathroom. I felt like the first guest. General stuff and amenities include a beardworthy hairdryer, coffee / tea tray, flat screen tv. All of good quality, suggesting no skimping on details.

I like how Hotel Finn makes it very clear that they are not a five-star hotel. While they aren't they certainly do not lack in their service level. We stayed for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was an initial mix up in our booking, which they rectified very promptly. Also, after checking out, we realised we left something behind. While we couldn't find it in the end, the staff on duty went out of his way to check for us, which was so nice of him. I noticed that some guests had complained about noisy rooms. Ours was fine.

We don't stay in many Holiday Inns just because they are not located where we travel. But this hotel was far from what I imagine a "normal" Holiday Inn to be. We arrived in the evening and only departed 15 hours later. So we chose an executive room. Wow, the standard was amazing. Nice desk area looking out the window to autumn trees outside the window. Separate dressing area. Comfortable seating chairs. Superb mattress and choice of pillows was a nice touch. Everything in the room spoke "quality". I managed to have a quick sauna for 45 minutes before closing time which was much appreciated. I must also mention that the breakfast was really good. Great choice and variety, and again, good quality. We had time to kill and walked to the close by shopping mall. Tricky to find the entrance to the mall, but it has a great choice of shops. Easy transfers from and to the airport. Will definitely choose again if we have an overnight layover.

My (11 year old) daughter and I stayed here to start a European vacation and absolutely loved this place. The geographical situation was stunning, the staff were warm and helpful, and the breakfasts were great! Rolf at the front desk went out of his way to help us every day in some way and made our stay even more memorable. The hotel is also a museum of Swedish and Finnish art and design, reflected in the building itself, furnishings, sculpture and other art works throughout the building interior and grounds as well as actual gallery areas. All of this in a setting of spectacular natural beauty. We went for long bicycle rides on the bikes supplied by the hotel to explore some of the literally hundreds of bike paths and bikeways crisscrossing the Helsinki area (it is shocking how many of these there are providing a complete transportation network). There were computers and printers for guest use and a chess set that made for fun evening challenges. Two small detractions: Housekeeping services comprised someone emptying the trash and straightening the blanket on the bed each day. Nothing was cleaned (cups and glasses left dirty, towels in bathroom left as found, floor not swept) so, although we are not dirty people, the room was starting to get a little less fresh after three days. And despite the stunning natural location, it was a little inconvenient being so isolated from all amenities - the bus ride to town was quite short at 10 min or so on express busses, but €4.50 each way to Helsinki and back along with the time made popping into town for a snack inconvenient. Most people drove to the hotel so would not have had this issue, and even for us it was not major, just required planning to make sure we got important things done on our daily trips to the city. Overall we couldn't have been more happy with this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique natural and cultural experience in a gorgeous city. We were sad to leave.

The hotel is in a good location, only a few blocks walk from the centre of town. The rooms are modernly furnished with plenty of space for luggage. Our room was on the backside of the hotel and very quiet. The breakfast buffet is excellent with some variation from day-to-day and has a good choice range to please everyone. We also had dinner one night in the hotel and it was very good with efficient service. We would stay here again.

impressive location in a forest on the beach. spectacular sunset. very nice reception. extremaly polite and beautiful receptionist. there is a pool with evening and morning access and a sauna. unfortunately you will have to take your room towels to use sauna located in a main building. all buildings looks like abandoned with dirty windows. the same sad picture i found in room. there are not moskito net on a windows. the breakfast was good.
