Good for family travelers. + Various Facilities in great condition. + Staff are friendly and accommodating. + Wide variety of good foods offered . - The pool is a bit small for a big hotel like this. - I was only given 1 towel when I checked in with my wife. - would be better if the room comes with carpetted floor.

Our 1-night stay here was our last day in Medan. We enjoyed the pool, breakfast buffet and good service. Our pool terrace room was perfect for us - the pool right outside our balcony and breakfast buffet on the same level, too. :) After a 4-day road trip from Medan to Berastagi, Lake Toba and back to Medan, Aryaduta was certainly a great finale to our North Sumatran trip! =)

Quite good hotel, deserves its 4 stars, costs money payed . In fact , I expected to be much worse for the money I paid. The breakfast was unexpectedly luxurious, didn't expect such quality from 4 stars in Medan. The free transfer to the airport was perfect. The best driver we had during our trip in Indonesia, European manner of driving. The pool was pleasant bonus to everything. Room was clean , beds shits as well, no problems with hot water.So far I didn't notice any disadvantages.

We were in awe the moment we check in. We opted for the Tongging deluxe double room and it was well worth every cent even though other places would cost us only a fraction of it. The view from the resort and especially our room was simply breathtaking! This was the first time in years that we actually took the trouble to wake up at 5am to watch the sunset from our room. My friends thought I was in Austria when I sent them photos! The staff provided such sincere and attentive hospitality that we felt very much pampered and totally at ease. Security there was also well managed. There was a myriad of activities at the resort. Our favorites are traditional archery, finding our way around a labyrinth and touring the agrofarm as well as the flower nursery. We also felt very close to nature. We had an indoor jacuzzi and the water supply was directly from the local spring! Lastly, food was not too bad. Check out their BBQ lobsters, one of our best meals in Medan!

The hotel located at the juction walk up to Mount Sibayak and Mount Gundaling. Room was spacious, bed was big. The hotel staff Johanis did arrange the Mount Sibayak trip & Berastagi to Parapat car for us. He was very friendly and the driver and also the tour guide he recommended us is Mai. Mai is very friendly, talkative and he gave us a lot of information which making our trip very comfortable & enjoyable. He brought us to tradisional batak village, ancient king's pallace and Si Piso piso waterfall on tje way to Parapat for only Idr 600, 000. My children like uncle Mai very much & his good service, we decided to book him for bring us back to Medan after Lake Toba trip.

Pros 1. Staff was nice (i request to change a room for a higher floor and early check in as my wife is not well that day. The staff help me out on early check in even though that the room is fully book that day) 2. Clean The places is clean, everyday there will be housekeeping that come to change my bed sheet towels, etc. OMG!! 3. Spacious room With the price you pay, the room is stunning and look nice and futuristic. 4. Safety U need to flash your card on the elevator everytime that you need to go back to your room. Overall best stay so far with the price 👍🏻 Very-very recommended Cons 1. Pool Pool is small but should be decent enough 2. Far The place is quite far from the town, you would need to use application to go to town. “Go-jek” or “grab” is my choice cheap and easy 3. Parking If you plan to drive car the parking lot is quite small, but you could ask the staff to help you out with that.

Samosir Cottages was the best hotel we stayed during our 2 week holidays in North Sumatera. we really had the best experience there. The hotel was modern, clean with good facilities such as 2 nice and clean swimming pools with gorgeous view over lake Toba, big, nice restaurant, nice comfortable terraces to enjoy the beauty of Lake Toba,table tennis. We could also enjoy live music on Wednesday and Saturday evenings in the restaurant. The room was nice, clean with a bath tub, tv, balcony and very comfortable bed and linen of high quality and long desk, many electricity power plugs, and a fan. They did not provide AC since it was cool there. The room was quiet since it was not so close to the lake but we could enjoy the best view of the lake from their nice terraces. We are looking forward to staying at this hotel again in the future. Thank you Samosir Cottages and Agoda who had given us nice rate.

Medan is the largest city outside Java after Jakarta. It has many interesting places to visit including some historical [Masjid Raya Al-Mashun and Maimoon Palace with the rich history of Deli Sultanate] and Dutch colonial buildings along the Kesawan. Not less important is the North Sumatra Province is also a heaven for nature lovers because you can visit several places such as Lake Toba and Samosir Island known with its rich Batak culture. Berastagi [highland town] is famous for variety of vegetables and fruits including strawberry with the background of Gunung Sibayak [one of the still active volcano] and famous for its hot springs. My stay in this hotel was really comfortable and the hotel staffs are really helpful although understood little English. There is no internet access in the room but there is absolutely free wifi in the lobby. Not so much choice for breakfast but yet there is a reason for you to go to Merdeka Walk [just 15-20 min walking distance] where there are variety of food to choose from local to international cuisines. The nearest shopping mall is Thamrin Mall only 15 min walking distance from the hotel. The hotel also provides a very relaxing spa and massage services. The hotel also provide free shuttle to and from airport upon arrival and departure but you have to call the hotel once you arrived at the airport or better still to notify the hotel in advance either by email.

[Long-overdue review from a 1-night stay in Dec 2012; then used lobby services but not accommodation in Oct 2016.] Garuda Plaza is a great hotel for a brief stay in Medan: I booked a Superior Room for 3 travellers (parents & adult daughter), requesting an extra bed in advance via Agoda. The room was huge - easily fitting a large double bed and a proper single bed - all comfortable and clean. Although not very bright (a long 'shoe-box' shape with window at one end), the room had all modern fixtures, including writing desk & lounge chairs, wardrobe, & A/C in excellent condition. The only issue was the bathroom, which although clean & spacious, lacked a shower curtain & proper drainage, so water wet the entire marble floor (a familiar problem in SE Asian hotel bathrooms, I've found). We raised this with reception, who were prompt in providing extra towels for the floor - which is the best they could do. Inclusive breakfast was a perfect assortment of Indonesian food & drink in buffet, with a few 'European' foods (scrambled eggs, etc). Good coffee by local standards & attentive service. Exactly what we wanted before a long day of travel! We noticed the restaurant was quite popular with large groups of middle-class Indonesians - visiting for business and leisure. Garuda Plaza's staff professionalism and helpfulness are highly commendable. In 2012, we stayed one night en route to Parapat (Lake Toba). We had not booked our travel to Parapat and on asking for advice from the reception staff, we found them most helpful. With their concierge, they immediately arranged a driver & car for us for the morning at a reasonable price. We were also able to change money easily at the reception desk that evening, even though we checked in after 7pm. In fact, staying at a nearby hotel in 2016, we ended up returning to the Garuda Plaza for assistance after my own hotel's inability to provide access to their money changer or assist us to book a driver & car to Parapat. We love the Grand Serela. Awesome facility and staff always remember us and very helpful and friendly. However, this time there were two disappointing things. First, for the two days our shower were always cold. Next, north Sumatra has been plagued for over a month with smoke from farmers and forest fires. Unfortunately, the huge lobby was FULL of more cigarette smoke than there was from forest fires outside. We have allergies to cigarette smoke and a problem for us. Most modern countries are outlawing public smoking, but personally we dont want to impose our personal situation on others, but we don't want to become sick from others enjoying their freedom either.

Sinabung Hills is a really majestically located resort ! High mountains, crisp air and stunning views ! Although the furniture is old and the rooms need a facelift, telltale renovation works are being carried out in stages. It is really a pristine location, very near (15km) to not one but two fairly active volcaones ! Mount Sibayak (2051 metres) and the more ominous Mount Sinabung(2451 metres) which erupted recently ! There are also hot springs(one with volcanic ash for therapeutic skin !) and rainforest trekking with good guides available at the nearby town of Berastagi below. No problems with hot water in rooms. The large swimming pool uses nice, mountain spring water with little chlorine. The sprawling lawns with a park is good to gaze at the stars for lovers and young at heart ! The staff were friendly and helpful. Also the restaurant served very good food (Chinese, Indon, Western) at fair prices. The place is perfect for couples, families, corporate functions and events like marriage ceremonies. I truly recommend this place even though no minivans go up the hill after 8pm. I am definitely going back !

I just stay one night in this hotel. This hotel is cozy. Near with restaurant. If you want to buy a mineral water or maybe snack, you just need to go to the Macan mini market in the first floor. The room is clean and the layout is very interesting. The location is in the center of medan city. If you want to go to the Merdeka Walk, you've just need walk 1.5 km to the north and if you want to go to the famous landmark of Medan City, Mesjid Raya mosque and Maimoon Palace, you've just need to walk 1.2 km to the south

Check in was simple enough but front desk staff was not at all attentive. The staff attending to me was busy looking down on her desk for my booking but at the same time was talking to me asking about my booking. She forgot to give me my breakfast voucher. She just activated my door card, put in on the counter top and walked of to talk to the bellboy. I had checked in only around 4pm yet they were not sure if my room was ready. The frontdesk staff sent the bellboy up to check first. I had booked a junior suite. The room itself was excellent. Clean. Smelt fresh. Bed was confortable. Guest area was very tastefully furnised. Good view of the city from the balcony. My only surprise was the bathroom. It was small compared to the size of the room Buffet breakfast next day was a nightmare. I went down around 9am. Place was packed. People holding plates waiting for a table. Buffet selection was miserable and to top it off, replenishment was slow considering there were only a few dishes. The poor cook at the egg station was swamped. 1 guy, 2 stoves and a horde of hungry tourists. I waited and waited for my order of eggs but finally just left as the cook was clearly not able to cope with the crowd. I am not sure if this is how it normally is but to be fair to the hotel, it was a weekend and to add on to that, Monday was a holiday in Malaysia so there were probably a bigger crowd than normal.

This hotel provides a really good fascilities, close to tourist attractions. Standing next to Toba Lake, it provides motorboats and other fascilities (with additional fees ofc) to help guests enjoying their stay even more. The only cons is the breakfast menu is slightly cold (considering i went to the restaurant quite early in the morning) and i suggest to add more of traditional North Sumatra cuisine. But overall, i really enjoyed my stay here, and if i to visit Parapat again, i'd love to stay here again.

The staff are friendly and always ready with a smile. The breakfast buffet is tasty and there's a variety of food to choose from. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, though some rooms do not have a place to hang your clothes or have a Safety Box (I think its because the rooms that we booked were adjoining rooms). The hotel is almost an hour away from KNO Airport, but very close to USU if you want to visit your child and/or sibling studying there. It's about 20 mins away from the city area (where the train is). It was my third stay there and I would definitely come back again.

Great staff with good location. Ms Vio is an excellent staff Unfortunately, my booking with agoda supposed to be under Royal Deluxe was wrongly booked by Agoda's Partner under standard room. Atlhough Agoda professionally managed to resolve the said issue after I make twice phone call to Agoda office in KL, but standard room which has allocated for me was in unsatisfcatory condition. The room no 005 which is located at the old building/wing seems to be not properly maintained, with old furniture in the room and batrhroom and also no fridge. It should not recflect level of 3 or 4 star hotel. I need to complaint for overflowed water in the sink at 2.00 am whereas we are not using the bathroom. It happened for few times after that and I did not report to hotel as it seem the same problem occured.

Made DPrima hotel as a base since we were going around North Sumatera. Hotel was decent, value for money, clean, located on top of train station ( although no trains running at night, so had a good night's sleep), bfast was coffee and croissants from starbucks (since there is no hotel restaurant) - no complaints there, lots of food in Medan. Airport train directly to the city - made coming and going back to airport easier.

Staff are friendly and courteous. Room Service (Food) are ok. Taste be improved- best is to have a unique/ speciality dish to represent the hotel. Rooms are big and spacious. However the items in the rooms are abit inconsistent. We had two of the same room; Room A- had electic kettle for hot water, two mugs and a chair for the working table. Room B- the plug was not working hence no electric kettle and mug was given and nothing to replace it. There was bath mat on the first day and after housekee😇ping, the bath mat was gone. The spa/ massage service that was offered from the nearby hotel is kinds uselees. I made a booking at 5pm for 10pm and they didn't come all. Would be great hotel if they do provide a playroom for kids and if budget permits, to have own swimming pool. Overall is a good experience and would definitely came again.

Huge room for 4 persons. 2 extra beds for my daughters. Really damn beautiful scenery from our room. Plus! Dendi is the best receptionist and able to speak fluent English too.. even I can understand Indonesian language but feel great when talked with Dendi in English. He helped us a lot. Booked for us speed boat to Parapat when normal boat not available in 6.45am early morning. Really recommended this cottage.

The staff were also super friendly.

We went to the hotel to check-in at 3PM yet they still asked us to wait for another 30-45 mins cause our room wasn't ready. That's not too good when you're having a toddler travelling with you. When we were having breakfast the nex day, the queue was so long and the restaurant was too small. The varieties and the tase of the food were not satisfying. When I asked them to spare another towel for our son,since we only got 2 towels, they said they would charge us Rp 100,000 for the towel. That's ridiculous for a 4-star hotel. We decided to buy a new one instead at Indomaret accross the hotel. The best thing of this hotel is you will find ATM, mini markets, durian places, food stalls (halal and not) in walking distance. I also appreciate the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room and the pool. Overall, it's a pleasant stay in this hotel. We'll bring extra towel from home.
