Without any doubt this was the best hotel stay I have been in a very long time... I was amaized to see the standards of the hotel, which was never second to any other hospitality organisation... All the staff including the management were very friendly and polite at all circumstances, specially the F&B Manager Mr Jude who was a great personality, who made our stay so memeroble which my wife and I felt like we were at our own house, and Nirosh from the breakfast was so welcoming with his friendly smile always.. Dian was great.... If u r going to yala this is the best place to stay..

we stayed at chaaya wild safari for 2 nights in march 2012 for part of our honeymoon. we had one of the jungle chalets which was a great size, spotlessly clean, with lovely decor and a very comfortable bed. the buffet here was one of the best hotel buffets we had in sri lanka with an excellent range of curries on offer. the safari office on site made it very easy to arrange a drive in to yala national park. it is probably a little more expensive than booking it outside the hotel but it was convenient and offers a more little peace of mind when getting up at 5.30am! also, as their breakfast runs until 10.30 you can easily get back in time for a feed. one of out other highlights was that, with a couple of steps through the trees at the back of the hotel grounds you come out to a beautiful secluded beach without another soul (even other hotel guests) on it. absolutely stunning. the wild boar passing through the grounds in the evening was a great sight. apparently they get the occasional elephant in there too.....making the staff who come and guide you from your chalet to the restaurant in the evening very welcome. a great place, great staff, lovely setting, fantastic rooms. one of the highlights of out honeymoon.

I had a fantastic stay at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel pays attention to environment protection. Little details reflect the management standard, e.g. Put towel against the balcony door in case the rain comes in (rain season now with heavy thunderstorms daily), post card with the guest name and bananas in the room. Bed is extremely comfortable, which is what you need after bumping safari drive. I would highly recommend this hotel to guests planning to visit Yala. The only shame is that hotel didn't inform guests upon booking that Yala is closed until Oct 15.

I made this booking for my in-laws who were very happy about the level of service provided by the hotel. Thanks to Mr. Arun and Shirley for being flexible with the chosen meal plan. The hotel was very helpful in organizing a safari jeep as well. The only thing that i would like to comment is that the Wifi had been very poor hence the 4-star not 5 for the facilities. But everything else was exceptional. Thank you..

This property is off the beaten path, a few km from the main road in Wellawaya. But it is a true hidden gem, well worth the trek for anyone looking to experience nature at its best. I stayed two nights at Jetwing Kaduruketha and feel absolutely rejuvenated after waking up to singing birds, running around the property's beautiful premises where you meet roaming cows and peacocks, going on walks along the farmland gazing up at coconut groves while discovering iguanas and beautiful butterflies along the way. The staff are absolutely fabulous and ensured a great guest experience. Dinesh, the reception manager, facilitated early check-in when I arrived overnight from Colombo. He also connected me to a fantastic tour guide / tuk tuk driver named Tharindu who I would recommend to anyone without reservation. His 10+ years of experience shines in his knowledge of the area and offered his best tips for getting the most out of my short time there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chena Huts! We even extended our stat by another night! Dulaj, the waiter, accomodated to our every need and was very attentive as well. He surprised us with a cake during dinner and arranged for a seafood platter on our last night. Best service award goes to him!! The ranger and driver are also very experienced and thanks to them, we managed to see leopards, sloth bear and other animals. Learnt a lot about the animals and their behaviours as well! The room is perfect. I repeat, PERFECT. It was spacious, clean and welcoming. Pool was great too! The huts were spaced out far apart so we got lots of privacy. Every single meal was delicious as well and we were well fed! Never went hungry! I will reccomend this to all of my friends! If you're on this page reading reviews and are contemplating on booking, DO IT. You won't regret it.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, the staff is very welcoming, gives great service and the food is delicious. The tents are very large and beautiful. The tents are immaculate. The atmosphere is very calming since it's in the jungle, we were sad to leave the place and say goodbye to the charming staff. We took a safari with them and appreciated very much our guide Achintha, he is the best and could see that he is very genuine with the love of nature. We did take the full day and regret not taking the half day. It was 12 hrs long and very exhausting. I recommend highly this place.

we stayed at this hotel for access to 3 national parks - fabulous location. quite expensive excursions and you can book independently for better priced jeep tours into the parks. we enjoyed the restaurant for both in room and garden dining. the pool area was a bit crowded and wifi coverage was not the best. facility was new and beautifully decorated. we would definitely go back again for another visit.

The owners at this family owned business exceeded our expectations as a traveling couple. They were responsive, more responsive even than local safari packages, and offered to organize a safari upon arrival, for a reduced price(14k rupees.).When we relayed our travel plans (from Tissa to Kandy) they warned us about the convenience and the cost of attempting to drive to Ella to catch one of Sri Lanka’s scenic trains. The father personally called the station management and verified train times (not fully accurate on the Sri Lankan website) and informed us that a landslide prevented travel to Ella. We ended up booking a car to Haputale (10,000 LRK) on their recommend. Otherwise, we enjoyed the picturesque onsite pool, speedy internet, and the open yoga space on the second floor. Much accomplished for a single night stay, would recommend to anyone in the area. For what it’s worth: for the crazy people who want to drive all the way to Kandy as we proposed, the estimate is 18,000 rupees.

One of the best holidays we've had the service and the standard of the hotel were above and beyond what we were expecting. From start to finish every staff member went out of there way to ensure that our stay was the most comfortable and enjoyable it could be which it was!! the standard of the food was amazing and we just kept saying to each other i don't know how they are providing this sort of treatment when we were in the middle of the jungle. We were lucky enough to be in a luxury tent and luxury it was! ensuite bathroom, balcony area with a view of the lake, big double bed, wooden floors... AMAZING!! Then we get to the safari which is included in the price.. the driver and the guide were so experienced that we were lucky enough to see every animal that lives in Yala.. Leopard, Crocodiles, loads of elephants including a close up of a tusker! and even the very rare sloth bear we couldn't believe it it literally walked right up to our jeep.. best experience of the whole trip! our only regret was not being able to stay there for longer! Thank you once again elephant lake yala for an amazing holiday!!!

We had a great time with out 18 month old. Family friendly with a wide array of food for her to choose from. She loved playing in the grass, in the sand, with the staff and in the kiddies pool. As a result we could really relax, unwind and enjoy the amazing atmosphere of the place. It was the perfect size resort and, being right on the ocean offered unparalleled views with the soothing sound of the surf breaking on the sand. Meals were tasty, coffee was excellent (sometimes difficult to find here) and the beers were iced cold. The villas offer a cosy hideaway and privacy when needed while the main hotel, dining area overlooking the sea and the top floor bar all offer great spaces to get to know some of the guests and hotel staff. My only regret is the length of our stay - the place is very popular for a reason and unsurprising often fully booked. You'll find it hard to top this place anywhere in the world!

An unbelievable experience for both my girlfriend and I. The dinner, service and safari was incredible from the first second. The staff were genuinely friendly and catered to all our needs. The dinner was beautifully arranged and encircled a huge bonfire beneath the stars. We managed to see all the animals including a leopard! (Please don’t take this as a guarantee that you’ll see one; however the guides will do their very best) An extra note: I injured myself on a table (totally my fault) and they were on the scene immediately and took me to a nearby pharmacy for treatment. They were genuinely concerned for our health and comfort and went the extra mile to make sure we were having the best time possible considering the incident. Even going as far as to cover any costs incurred. Gayan, our guide, never left our sides and shared his passion for the wildlife of the park. I have him to thank personally for my quick recovery. We will never forget this trip for this safari experience. A true testament of the Sri Lankan spirit. Don’t miss this!

I thoroughly enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the city (although you still do experience a bit of the bloodlust on the safari as tourists chase around in a bid to find wildlife). The staff were great, friendly and attentive. The food was pretty standard but that didn't bother us, there were bugs aplenty, and the mid-afternoon heat was almost unbearable. Most tourists stay a night, we stayed two, either way you don't stay long enough for any of the inconveniences to get to you. The fun of the safaris and the attention from the staff distracts you from all of that. The rustic, tented living is definitely an experience. Expect: pitch-black nights, fire torches, early morning safaris, bumpy roads, the big outdoors, the sun, good butlers, and a just completely different experience. It was good fun. It was a little pricey but I'm glad I went with Mahoora instead of just a regular hotel.

This place is simply fantastic...beautiful on the inside and out. The rooms are large, clean and modern. Yes, no shower curtain, but I rather enjoyed that! And the views are simply breathtaking. The hotel is literally a peninsula in a rice paddy field. Gorgeous. The pictures up on TA are exactly how the place looks too. The owner, Jagath, is a wonderful man, very inviting, hospitable and generous. He has thought of every detail, down to the beautiful handmade coffee cups. These small details were overlooked at other hotels we stayed in. The food here is AMAZING! The best we had during our entire holiday. And Jagath was always bringing us new things to try. He really couldn't have been more hospitable. The complimentary breakfast was beautiful...make sure to ask for the coconut sugar roll-ups! They were delicious! We stayed during Vesak -- a HUGE holiday -- and there were tons of people using the lake across the street. But to be honest, you couldn't hear them from to hotel. It was very peaceful. I cannot praise this place enough. It was by far the best hotel during our vacation. And we look forward to visiting again!

This place is ideal as a base for a safari into Yala national park. Safaris in open SUVs can be booked for 5.30 in the morning or 2.30 in the afternoon and take about 3 1/3 hrs. It takes you about half an hour to get into the park, including the formalities at the entrance, the rest of the time you drive through the park. Animal spotting is not comparable to Africa - there are fewer animals here, and a lot more cars - sometimes, there are real traffic jams with up to twenty cars at spots where there is something to see. Otherwise, Elephant Reach is very good for relaxing - a nice pool, large, nicely decorated rooms with balconies and well-equipped bathrooms, even a children's playground and a chequers and a chess game in the reception area. Our kids aged 7 and 10 loved it! Breakfast buffet is fine (the hotel provides you with a breakfast box if you take the early morning safari), lunch is a la carte, dinner again a buffet, unfortunately, not with much variety, which is a bit dull if you stay for more than one night. But all in all, a recommendable place!

My wife and I spent three days here as a part of our honeymoon. The staff were amazing and looked after us with great care, always waiting until we had left our room before cleaning, organising a massage and a safari. However the massage is quite expensive as is the food, and the menu doesn't seem to offer many Sri Lankan dishes. That said we were treated to one of the best Sri Lankan breakfasts of string hoppers, rice and curry with arguably the best pol sambol I've had. It's a very lovely and calm environment and was perfect for us and what we wanted.

This hotel was beautiful from the foyer to the rooms. The bed was comfortable and the views from the room were gorgeous. The room backed onto the pool, which overlooked rice paddies. I would have liked to stay here longer. The wifi is weak at best in the rooms though. The dinner service is relatively expensive, about $15, compared to what you can get elsewhere. My biggest complaint though was that I booked and paid for a three person room, but when only two people checked in they gave us a two person room. I was not refunded the difference either. Not a major issue, but it is a poor form.

Saraii Village was the most unique and amazing place we've ever stayed in. When I booked the place online, i was not sure what to expect but my family and i were thrilled to see this hideaway in a Werawilla. You come down a short distance down a dirt path (which was a little eroded due to the recent heavy rain) from the main road and you come up to a large garden with lots of trees, vegetable plots and flowers with the tree houses and mud chalets giving it a very surreal feel. I had booked the mud chalet which was large and beautiful but when my kids saw the tree houses they were so excited that the kind hotel manager offered to switch our reservation to the tree house. Thankfully the tree house was free that day. My kids went up to the tree house and we were unable to get them down for the next several hours. It was such a wonderful experience to sleep up on the tree house. It was so comfortable and the tree house was colorfully decorated with comfy cushions. Waking up on the tree house was amazing as the tree sways with the wind and you wake up for the singing of the birds, especially the peacocks. The hotel arranged for a Safari ride in Yala for us and the jeep picked us up by 5.30 for the morning game ride, which was the best experience ever, we had two sightings of leopard and quite a number of elephants too... The hotel gave us packed breakfast with bottles of water, which was very convenient for us. The jeep driver sorted out all our entrance requirements, which was great as we were still a bit sleepy. We were one of the first jeeps inside Yala and the ride was fantastic. I must say that Saraii had the best local varieties of food we've had on this trip. The food was the "real" Sri Lankan food. My daughter who doesn't much care for vegetables, had second helping of sri lankan vegetables, and wanted to know if we can take back some home. Saraii is for travelers like us who like to experience new things with a unique style of its own.

I've always wanted to stay near a lake and enjoy the feeling. There is 24 hour continuous wind flowing across the property and it is really mind relaxing. Pros: View of the lake from the propery is awesome. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy with all necessaries. Staff is kind and helpful. Cons: One of the ac machines did not work properly and we felt the warmth outside. There was a bad smell when we entered the room which I think is from the bathrooms. The food is really overpriced so we took all meals from outside. Tips: Take a bath in the pool around 4pm which has a clear view of the lake and sit on the benches which are kept outside with the views of the lake. Visit Tissamaharama temple around 7pm which is so beautiful and peaceful at night. On the way buy some fried fish sold near the tissa lake and eat them after taking your dinner in the benches with the view of lake. That feeling with the breeze you will never forget. Also buy your meals outside, there are plenty of restaurants in the town.

Hotel is superbly located for Yala safari and incredible vfm. We paid £100 half board for 2 nights. Fixed menu for dinner may not suit all, but 4 courses were very good. Pool is lovely and our room overlooked the beautiful lake. Staff can not do enough to please. Not a 5 * luxury hotel, but perfect for the location. The hotel is remote and not really near any other restaurants, but a Tuk Tuk ride to Tiss is possible

As soon as we arrived at the Kirinda Beach Resort, we had a very friendly team of staff to welcome us ensuring that we felt instantly at home and relaxed. This is one hotel where the photos on Agoda do not do justice to the rooms, which turned out to be a lot nicer than we were expecting. This is an eco hotel so you are very much thrown in with nature, we had tree frogs living in the roof of our hut but they didn't disturb us, in fact, along with the monkeys hiding underneath the raised swimming pool and a giant lizard in the grounds the place was given even more charm!! The pool is fantastic, raised above the rooms giving an incredible view of a dramatic beach. Although the sea wasn't the place for a tranquil swim due to crashing waves at this time of year, there was a river on the other side of the beach that you could swim or cool down in and plenty of other activities were offered. The only slight fault we found with the place was with a few members of the restaurant staff who were still being trained and therefore struggled to understand some of our requests due to a language barrier. This was understandable as the hotel is supporting the local community by providing jobs for local people which is a great thing, it just requires a little patience at times. The resort also offer other community projects for guests to support, showing their care and dedication to their surroundings. This was by far the best hotel we visited in Sri Lanka, as we were made to feel very welcome, and the location is beautiful!

After tired whole day trip to yala we arrived around 8.30pm to check in. We were tired & so wanted to jump in to pool. Front office informed us that pool was closed but our friendly room boy Sampath have had a word with pool staff & delayed the cleaning process just to give us some time for a so wanted swim.From that point onwards he didn't hesitate for a minute to go to few extra miles to give us one of the best service we experienced around the globe. Rest of the staff also fantastic. Executive chef paid us a visit to make sure our food up to our expectation & rest of staff also friendly & very helpful. Room was clean & tidy. We will definitely go back in our next trip to Yala & we highly recommend it as one of the best in Tissamaharama area.

Yala adventure 's environment is so great. There are many trees, plants and butterfly garden and a lake. All of these are so natural. The Room clean and tidy. We arrived late because of raining. The manager and staff are kindhearted and warmly. They welcomed us and we felt so warm and happy. We had dinner and tried the Sri Lanka hand pilaf with the manager's guide and introduction, it's traditional and interesting for us. The food and fruits are fresh and the vegetables comes from their own garden. It's really great !!! The most important thing was twe saw the fireflies, it's so amazing in there. The manager named Sameera, he is a very kind person and he like nature, so follow him you can feel and know more about the nature. It's very good choice if you like to close to nature. It's pity we stayed in there only one night...and we have no time to feel every great things in there...and they prepared very great breakfast and picked up for us because we were going to yala national park. We shared our breakfast with other Russia couples and they said we saved them, but I want to say it's our hotel saved them because the breakfast was so abundant！ thanks all staff and we will chose yala adventure again if we come to Sri Lanka again.

Ok..we stayed here as a family of 4 for a couple of nights. Location is decent. Just 20 min or so from the park entrance. Beware though. We booked on Agoda, which said there was WiFi. There was no WiFi. This may not matter to you, but it wild have been useful to have. The food was very mediocre. Dinner was basically rice and curry. One day we waited almost 3 hours for dinner. Rice and curry insanely salty. There is nowhere else to eat nearby. Zero aircon. Which we knew in advance. We asked for mosquito coils. We never got them. I wouldn’t stay here again. Not much to do, and horrible food.

Can't complain. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. You could visit Kiri Vehera, Kataragama Hindu Temple, Situlpavva from here. Hotel arranges a Yala safari, which is reasonably priced. Ransu the driver was pretty helpful. A little more training and he could be an awesome guide/tracker for Yala visits. You could also do a night safari on Kataragama Buttala road, where you are almost guaranteed of seeing elephants on a highway. If you are lucky enough seeing a leopard and/or sloth bear is not out of the question. Please do NOT speed on this road as it could risk the lives of innocent wildlife

We arrived on our first day off the plane to this wonderful little hotel in Kandy, and were greeted by a veritable feast! (Remember to book a curry for that evening by 2pm!) There was sublime soup to start, followed by 5 curry dishes and rice, and a tasty dessert! Little did we know, the food we would have for the rest of our trip would not live up to this magnificent meal!
