KwaZulu-Natal hotels & accommodations

We arrived at 08:30am due to early flight. Even though check-in only 14pm they tried their best to accomodate us early. Even though they only managed to arrange room by 13:45pm they made an effort to give us the best room to make up for our waiting. They had a very spacious, comfortable & clean lounge for us to settle & wait for our room & stored our baggage until...

The location is great, literally 5 minutes walk to the beach, main promenade and restaurants. The hotel is nice. You get what you pay for. The rooms are comfy and neat. The term "Ocean View" is loosely held, if you're happy with a slight glimpse of the ocean between the buildings but the beach is across the road so you can hear and smell it all the time which is great....

This hotel is in a perfect location and beautiful setting. It is perfect for travellers planning to hike in the Royal Natal National Park which is virtually next door. The gardens are immaculate although the pool needs extra cleaning. The food was plentiful but basic. We stayed in a refurbished bedroom with balcony which was clean and adequate There are lots of improve...

I really loved the location, it changed my dbn visit for the first time in my life....... facilities was good.... I visited and called the hotel for an early check in which I was advised the hotel was fully booked, which is understandable. ...However the room was still not ready by 2:30..... What i did appreciate was being upgraded to executive room.... Another point t...

Me and my partner stay at Coastlands every year around June, so far we have had the best service and warm welcome. The staff are very helpful and friendly, attending to all our special requests without complaints. We will continue to stay here as it is easy access to all our needs.

The hotel has jerked up their wifi offering, as well the hotel has improved all in the front desk with Front desk staff like Eric, and others. The check in process is very quick and hassle free. The tidiness of the rooms and common areas is still the best. This hotel is now becoming the Royal Hotel of yester years. Well Done!!!

We had a wonderful stay. The security at the gate had a book to verify that we did book( Amazing Internal control )The atmosphere was best. Breakfast was excellent, first time to see lamb chops in a breakfast well done Coastlands. Staff very friendly. Room service excellent

Booking in was well organised, just disappointed that even though I sent e-mail and contacted property my children were not added to the booking., however it was dealt with and breakfasts were booked to the room. Waterpark is amazing loved it, even grandparents were up to having a ride on the slides. Although we had bad weather the kids were well entertained with exc...

...and will be my preferred choice to stay at for future visits to KwaZulu-Natal. Super convenient for those who like to mix their shopping with their holidaying. The Go Wild waterpark is a hit with kids, with the beach being fairly close by as well. This hotel reminds me somehow of the Yas Viceroy Hotel in Abu Dhabi, of which I had the pleasure of staying at.

I stayed at this hotel for 13 nights, the food was tasty, and if you wanted to chop and change a couple of bits they were more than happy to accommodate if they could, the restaurant staff mainly Sisandra she is an absolute credit to the hotel bright, smiley & very friendly, the rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard and fresh towels daily, a little stroll to the b...

We enjoyed our stay at the City Lodge even though the Trainee wrongfully charged my card while i had already made the payment. The next time we travel to Durban again it will be our 1st hotel to book. We only struggled with food as the light meals on the menu were not appetising. But for a 3 star hotel it is the best. We will come back again very soon n the WiFi is sup...

The staff are friendly but speaking from experience need to better understand the needs of their patrons...parking arrangements were not explained...assistance with luggage was not offered...the wifi password was not listed or provided nor was I informed as to the spa services on offer. For a 4 star establishment the furniture and general upkeep of the room and of cert...

I cant fault my time here at this hotel. As with most Hiltons the service was great and promt. Very clean and modern hotel in a convenient location. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced considering this is a 5 star hotel and good value I found, good quality & choice. The pool area is not that big, but it’s very clean without getting sore eyes from too many chemic...

This place was amazing, spotlessly clean, great finishes, beautiful sea views, it truly is a five star hotel with comfortable beds. i stayed during the low peak time,it was value for money, we got to use the spa facilities - steam room and detox pool complementary to the room and the staff were very professional and friendly. i loved everything about this place. just a...

Honestly everything was perfect for me, we enjoyed Durban and we managed to explore more. Agoda, best Customer service, best communication, and indeed I did safe money. I did enjoy my stay at Balmoral Hotel. Best food, Best Customer Service. I am indeed using both Agoda and Balmoral hotel next time when I visit Durban. Thank you, Very Thank you. I wish I could take a ...

Beig a family of 5 and finding a suitable accommodation is not easy. The Urban Park Hotel, however, checked all the boxes. Friendly staff, our interleading room setup was simply magnificent, with a nicely equipped self-catering kitchen. Beds, linen & towels always fresh and room servicing done efficiently with a smile. The secure undercover parking provided easy acces...

Arrived way early and the staff did their best to get me room before check in time. Breakfast was good, rooms are open plan & neat. The downfall is there was no bar fridge in the room other than that I would book at the hotel again. Also had dinner at their restuarant and the food was on point👌

I really like the hotel except for the fact that, to get wifi, you have to be in the public areas. For a five star hotel this is diabolical. Heck, I've got wifi in every room in my house!! How difficult can it be for a five star hotel. Increase rates if you need to and hide the costs of it there. Second biggest problem I had with this hotel is the fact that the Bar Fri...

Excellent staff, Professional, Courteous, Humble , Helpful and Joyous. Mr. Kramer the General Manager leads by example. His staff emulate him in every way. I wish that I had a leader like him when I started out in my career. I learnt so much looking at him and his team that I have applied his magic with my team. We were teatted like royalty and every wish was fullfil...

Nambiti Plains was a wonderful lodge in a stunning location. The staff were all brilliant, they were helpful , happy and to a person could not do enough for you. The lodge had a wonderful manager who cared for everybody and did so much to help us celebrate a special anniversary. Lastly, our guide was great, with real knowledge of the animals and habitat within the res...

I stayed here as it is 2 minutes walk to the 6.15am meeting place for the Natal Shark Board Tagging Tour and it was certainly very convenient for that. However, the hotel is rather odd, claiming that it is 3 star but the rooms are tiny and quite basic and restaurants are also quite basic. However, the hotel staff were great, with the night guard being kind enough to wa...

My booking wasn't in in the system and was asked to move to another hotel but couldn't as it was 20 minutes away so I got a room eventually but the TV and kettle didn't work, so were replaced, there was no hairdryer but when asked I got one and when I eventually took a shower, realised it leaked water onto the bathroom floor. The WIFI signal is so weak, it keeps losin...
Cheap places to stay in KwaZulu-Natal

Don't look anywhere else, stay here, it's one of the best for the money I've ever stayed in all my 8years continuous travel around the world. Top tip, do as many safari tours as you can. On one of ours to Hluhluwe we saw around 100 elephants, 10 rhino plus all the other wonderful wildlife one would expect of South Africa, even saw a puff adder. St Lucia is a gem. Excel...

First I booked a self -catering but received a normal room & had to ask for what I had booked - stated it was fault of Agoda. Next the shower exploded - this was fixed by owner upon reporting. Then had 2 nights of no sleep - the first was filled with 50 shades of grey until 01:30 & all could be heard from neighbouring room. The next night was occupied with me screaming...

On the evening of the 5th March, I walked into the dining room too late for dinner yet your staff went out of their way to find me something to eat. The barman on duty went into the kitchen and I had the pleasure of meeting Clive, he went out of his way but never made me feel uncomfortable and the soup and chicken pie were amazing!! Really, what a pleasant and professi...

A Last minute booking and we arrived the next day at the Beach Motel. The service is impeccable, from arrival we were greeted by name our information was already completed in check in documentation and the staff were so friendly and informative. We were delighted with the beautiful room and bathroom, all newly refurbished. We were a stone throw away from various re...

A guest house that offers extremely good value for money in hospitality, comfort and amenities. I would highly recommend the Kings Guest House to anyone. It is situated in an area that is close to various shopping centres including Westville Mall and Pavilion. It offers a safe and enjoyable place to put your feet up. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

We spent 2 nights here. the place was clean and decent. the food was delicious and freshly prepared. the beds were comfortable. I appreciated the winter sheets on the bed. The Papaya unit was spacious and comfortable, just as an suggestion for improvement, the bathroom in the papaya unit could do with a bit of upgrade. I will use this accommodation again. The host Rita...

The visit to Essenwood House was much too brief! Paddy and John are fantastic, really fantastic hosts and they ensure that the establishment provides a good experience. I would recommend Essenwood House highly and I have already moved it to the top of my list of establishments in Durban.

The location is great, literally 5 minutes walk to the beach, main promenade and restaurants. The hotel is nice. You get what you pay for. The rooms are comfy and neat. Received by a very friendly Bianca. Received an upgrade as the cottage was available. The cottage is well equipped with EVERYTHING one needs, spacious & comfortable. It also has a private bbq area & a front garden. I would certainly recommend Little Eden.

They need to improve on their cleanliness. The head board was full of dust, the shower floor need a scrub( u can easily can easily get athlete foot). Their linen was a colour (not white), I will suggest they change it to white, because of that linen, I did not enjoy my sleep because I kept on asking myself if they change them, when someone used it, with white you can...

Great place for the family, idyllic surroundings, daily visits from the local wildlife - nyala and giraffe - to keep you company. Website not very clear re things like cut off times for breakfast and dinner orders but worked out in the end and heads up if you arrive in evening bring food as restaurant and bar likely to be closed after 8pm. That said well worth the mone...

Booked a king bedroom but was assigned a standard bedroom. The hotel charged up front like a budget accommodation. All other things are just ok, nothing is outstanding. I would give it a 3-star, not 4 as advertised. Hopefully, I won't be staying here again.

I found the property to be amazing. The room was good, however a bit dated. The dining area was as common (trying to be nice here) . Was more a poor class cafe style. After the first meal i rather ate in the room, very, very disappointed. I stayed at the hotel many years ago and told my wife what a wonderful experience the dining was ], what a huge disappointment. food...

We had the best time! Everything was absolutely exceptional; cleanliness, staff friendliness, ease of access, quality of food and drinks etc. etc. Our highlight every day was the breakfast; there were so many options and all of it was delicious! The pools (yes, there are two) were also stunning and we had the best time lounging by the pools while sipping on cocktails. ...

really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. it was very convenient walking across the road to have a meal or go to the cinema due to the proximity of gateway umhlanga mall. rooms were functional and comfortable and serviced every day by friendly staff. i would say that the price offered by the price breaker weekend is spot on for what you get. one may expect lots more if ...

Good: a very nice room, clean, a comfortable bed, decent shower/toilet, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Manager and staff were helpful and friendly. The building is a wonderful old colonial structure. The location is convenient, yet quiet. Bad: I can find no indication on Agoda that the establishment is now halaal: no bar facilities, no wine, no standard breakfast. ...

We were blown away upon our arrival and wish we'd had more time to stay! The patio/garden is a little slice of heaven, with a pool, tons of greenery, and lovely decorations. Plan on taking your time during breakfast and soaking up the view along with the sunshine. Gisela was very welcoming and took time to talk with us and help plan/book activities such as a boat ri...

We stayed at Champaign Castle for two night. This was my first time in the Drakensburg so I wanted the best view. And that's what we got! Absolutely amazing view! The staff we friendly knowledgeable and attentive. The food was lovley. However for the money you pay the place is a little tired. Our ottoman and chairs were stained beyond belief. The outside chairs were ...

Vincent is such an able and supportive host and he rallies his team magnificently. I've stayed in many BnB's in Durban and this one has the best breakfast by far. The rooms are big and very well furnished and the price reasonable. Good wifi. The only negative is the poor tv channel choice and poor reception in the rooms. Disappointing as the rest is si good.

However I would never book through Agoda again. What a useless means of a booking system. No help when you need it. Always closed. Then they call you from Hong Kong and Singapore and cannot talk propper English. Keep asking the same question and nothing to assist the situation. Would never book through Agoda again!!!

From the moment we booked until we checked out we received a tailor made customer service experience. The room was as exceptional if not better than what we saw on the internet. My fiance and I were looking to find faults but couldn't. The breakfast was delicious, we also made use of their steam room and jacuzzi both were lovely. A big thank you to the staff from the ...

I booked this guesthouse for my brother very short notice and the feedback he gave me was very positive. Staff super friendly and the rooms clean and very comfortable. On his travels back he will def try and book a room with the Grange again. He felt very well taken care of.

Received by a very friendly Bianca. Received an upgrade as the cottage was available. The cottage is well equipped with EVERYTHING one needs, spacious & comfortable. It also has a private bbq area & a front garden. I would certainly recommend Little Eden.

I chose Umzolozolo Lodge as the perfect setting to propose to my fiance. It was out of this world! The 5 star rating isn't enough for the service you receive here, they're waaaaay better. We enormously enjoyed our stay at the Oyster Box, although with data roaming down in Natal (yet again) and our GPS did not function properly, it took us a while to find. Very little to find any fault with and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, the food excellent and the view spectacular.

My husband and I stayed over on our way home from Sheffield Beach and were met by the most awesome staff, from the guard at the entrance to the young lady at reception, to the young man, Emmanuel who escorted us to our room and finally the ladies at the Spa where we had an amazing treatment...... the photographs on the website doesn't do your hotel justice, it is far m...

The value cannot be beat. The breakfast was incredible each day. The staff was always ready and able to help, whatever your need. A quick walk to the best restaurants in the area or the beach. I will never stay anywhere else when visiting Durban. We are now lifelong guests of Sandals.

Our stay was great! The room was nice and cosy and the staff was really helpful. They drove us to Umhlanga when ever we needed a lift and helped us to arrange adventure tours in Kwazulu-Nathal. The beach next to Cowrie Guest House is beautiful and there is towels and beach mattresses to borrow.

Our stay at Sanchia was fantastic. Me and my family loved it, we were a group of 9 and nothing was too much trouble for the staff excellent customer service. Thank you to all the staff at Sanchia for making our family trip a success! We enjoyed every moment. I highly recommend Sanchia to anyone looking for accommodation in Durban. This guest house is truly a hidden gem...

From driving onto the hotel grounds to departing the service of the BH was impeccable. Reception seem exceptional. The valet parking of the vehicle a pleasure. The Rooms comfortable and the bathrooms and towels fresh and clean. The view from the rooms must be the most beautiful in Umhlanga. We were on the 6th floor. Breakfast buffet as expected but special requests...

We stayed in this hotel on our honeymoon. This was the last stay of our three week holiday and this 5-star hotel did not come close to the other hotels we stayed it and this was mainly down to the staff. It felt like the staff thought they did not have to make an effort because the hotel was in an amazing location. It was truly beautiful but when the staff are not nice...

We stayed there during our tour of Kwa Zulu Natal. We wanted somewhere safe near , but not in, Durban. We spotted this hotel on Agoda and it seemed to fit, so we booked it. The manageress and her helper were very pleasant and helpful with suggestions of what to do in Durban as it was our first visit. We were even given help booking our next place of stay in St Lucia wh...

Fantastic hotel that deserves all the positive comments it gets. The staff, the safari experience and the rooms were really great. A highlight was laying the in the bath tub and seeing a warthog on the patio right next to me. The food overall could not be faulted and definately has a fine dining focused kitchen team. Some of the unfortunate elements that need attention...

Another fantastic stay at Amakhosi! The facilities and game viewing are right up with the best available and the level of service is incredible. Special mention for our top notch tracker and ranger, King and Jacques, who were both extremely knowledgeable and accommodating.

The owner of the apartment is so friendly and courteous. The apartment has the most spectacular view. The surrounding amenities were so convenient. The security and staff were amazing. Thank you for such a great experience. I will definately be returning...
