i highly recommend this hotel. the staffs are really helpful. the best from the tour service. she’s very kind, and cute, too.. you better make use of the tours organised by the hotel, for their prices are reasonable. i once made arrangement with a driver, and was disappointed, for he brought me to an expensive restaurant and took advantage from the ticket prices. but this guy, speaks english very well. the fee for a driver half a day in the city is 100 rmb, but to other city 800 rmb though also half a day? other driver was honest and helpful though cannot speak english: in guilin, best places to visit are: 1) li river boat to yangshuo, 500 rmb, 2) yao mountain cable 'bench' (very minimum in safety), 3) prince palace, 4) elephant trunk hill, 5) reed flute cave, 6) minority park, and 7) pedestrian street near the hotel. if you like adventure, go to yangshuo and visit xingping. the hotel’s food was not great, except the fried rice in western restaurant. best restaurant is very near to the hotel: li river restaurant; you’ve to try the "beer fish"! if you join li river tour, try to order small crabs and small fish: tasty! the pedestrian street near the hotel is a great place to walk around. many good restaurants and shops. in the market, especially if you look very 'touristical', ask one-third of the said price. the location of lijiang hotel for me is the best in guilin. you can reach anything within walking distance: the pagoda lake, mcdonald, kfc, thai restaurant, "momma cake" bakery, public square, and the li river bank. everything around the hotel is really nice to walk around. consider staying one night in yangshuo, for there are many attractive places there. it's 1,5 hours from guilin by bus (20 rmb). i'm a 'canon' photographer and i certainly want to go to guilin and yangshuo again. and i will stay again in lijiang hotel. god really blessed guilin with awesome landscapes...

Everything about this hotel is perfect except the food can use some improvement. The staff is lovely, one of the most beautiful pools I've ever seen. Night staff can use some improvement as their English is not strong. If the standard of food can be improved then this will be one of the best hotels out there. I really wish this hotel a success because photos do not do it justice. Only thing is its such an instagrammable hotel so everyone is doing photoshoots by the pool, which can be distracting when you are trying to relax.

The hotel has a 'local' 4 star rating. I must say the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean with necessities that deserved a four star rating. However, all bookings come without breakfast as the hotel don't have a restaurant nor cafeteria. It only has a lobby with a tour desk which can arrange sightseeing tours airport transfers and rooms. Its location is superb and from the hotel one can take a leisurely walk to places like the twin pagodas and to the pier for a 'two rivers four lakes cruise. Just out of the hotel, there are many restaurants and local food outlets for meals. At night Xicheng Road, the location of the hotel is turned into a walk street with many stalls selling a variety of items. There are also many shopping places around the hotel. Certainly a value for money hotel if you are one that does not bother about enjoying amenities of international 4 star hotels.

The rooms on the 7th floor are very nice, 3 to 4 star standard. The rooms on the 6th floor are okay, maybe 2 to 3 star standard. I have not seen the hostel rooms so I'm not sure what they are like. The facilities like the garden roof top and pool table are very good. The first time I stayed there on the 6th floor we had some problems with the room which the staff were reluctant to sort out but when we spoke to the manager everything was sorted out and a discount was given. If you have any problem when in this hotel I suggest asking reception for the managers phone number or Wechat and she will sort out your problems. You can also get better prices booking directly with the hotel than on Agoda. The hotel staff all speak okay English which is rare in Guilin.

From the moment we arrived, Erica welcomed us so warmly we really felt as if part of the family. The food was superb and the waitress Maria was simply charming. The family room was easily 4 Star and exceeded our expectations. Curry, the owner organised a great itinerary with our own guide which gave us total flexibility. We didn't want to leave Yangshuo and our stay at Mountain Nest was easily the best value of our whole 3 week trip throughout China. The unexpected gift on departure exemplified the attention to detail of this lovely establishment.

Very nice hostel at Guilin. The location is perfect. You can just walk from there to many scenic spots in the city. Rooms and showers were also very well maintained and clean. The only negative criticism we have is about the staff. We first wanted to book river cruise offered by the hostel and the staff was very friendly and helpful regarding this. But then we realized that the offer did not fit well into our plan, so we decided to do the trip on our own by taking some public buses and try booking a cruise directly at the town it's supposed to start. With this, the staff suddenly showed little interest in helping us and said things like that "he's not sure if we can also do the tour there" and so on. In the end, it turned out to be extremely easy to book the cruise in the other town, so he was only trying to make us insecure to buy the tour from him. Therefore just go on your own if you are in the same situation and don't buy the overprived river cruises at Guilin.

John the owner was an amazing host. He offered us some delicious tea and showed us some of his tea set collections. He directed us to the best places in Guilin for sight seeing and food. When our friend checked in a day after us, John found out that she would be placed on a different floor and he generously moved her to a room on the same floor as us, in an upgraded room for free. When we inquired about a raft ride and light show in Yangshuo, John was upfront and honest in offering us not only information about the best way of doing it but also why we should book through him. It was a bit more booking through him but as foreigners we appreciated the honesty and was willing to pay for the superb customer service that comes along with doing business with John. Ashley the girl at the front desk came out to greet us with umbrellas and offered us tea. Later in the evening when we were trying to find a place to eat, Ashley went out of her way to walk across the street to help interpret with the servers and translate the menu. She also went out of her way to assist in booking our Yangshuo excursions. The only negative is the location. It is a little hard to find and outside the city center, however the view from the front lobby is of one of the rivers. We had a room looking over the alley and it was a bit noisy when it rained because of bouncing off the tin from the surrounding buildings but our friends room overlooked the river and it was much quieter. The water in the shower stayed warm and the rooms were very clean. I would definitely stay here again because of the amazing hospitality and customer service!

We chose this hotel because of the location in the middle of a park and it was nice to be surrouded by nature.Had lovely long walks and enjoyed the beautiful ponds and the landscaping.The view from the window was beautiful facing the pond.The staff very friendly & helpful.The bell boys were always friendly and drove us to the gate as required.After having long day trips we were able to sleep peacefully and comfortably.Always had hot water in the bathrooms.The room and the bathrooms were very clean. The english language was a bit difficult but they did their best. The breakfast was satisfactory.The noodle dishes we ordered for dinner had no flavour and the meat was hard and chewy. Regardless the food we enjoyed our 7 day period.

I booked this hotel based on customer reviews. I was very happy with my decision. Hotel facility was first rate, clean, modern, newly renovated, tastefully decorated and comfortable bed. The roof top deck and the restaurant have an amazing view (river, mountains and elephant trunk hill are visible, including sun rise). Hotel has tour desk that can help arrange for tours in Guilin. They are super responsive. I booked the tours prior to arriving in Guilin. Because we only stayed for two and a half days, we chose to do private tour to cover what is important to us. Except for the fishing show, everything turned out to be great. Hotel also provides free airport pick up, which was a bonus when your flight arrived at night (8:40 pm). Hotel location is great, near the pier (7 min walk) and near downtown. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in Nanning for two nights while getting our visas for Vietnam. Since there is not much to do in terms of tourism in the city so we spent much of our time in our room. This hotel has a motto everywhere that says "five star renovation at two star price". This sums up the hotel well. We were very comfortable. The breakfast was cheap and relatively good. Be warned though, if you are travelling with a tablet, first there is no wifi in the rooms and, second, if you have your own wifi hot spot, it will not connect to their network. You can upgrade your room for 20rmb to get a desktop computer.

I had a view of the swimming pool below which was not so bad, would've preferred hillview if they had it. Loved the interiors of the room, feels very luxurious. Can't comment on the food as I didn't have time for breakfast and would be out the entire day and night. It is quite close to the elephant trunk hill, around 10mins by cab. Bought my entrance ticket for that at the travel agency in the hotel for 65rmb which is 10 less than buying it onsite. However, I would suggest to book the countryside tours outside of the hotel. Tons of tour agencies near the elephant trunk hill area. Two huge thumbs up to Leo at the front desk. The only fluent English speaker I encountered during my stay, he lent me a couple of chargers to use because they didn't have an adaptor. Be prepared for some miscommunication, but if you're fluent in Mandarin then you should be alright. Still gets 5 stars from me.

Our rooms were comfortable, clean and of a good size. A range of toiletries were also provided and regularly replenished. The hotels location on Dongge was convenient as it was about a 20 minute taxi ride to the city centre and People's Park and a 15 taxi ride in the opposite direction to Folk Song Lake (Bar Street) and some of the Nannings main shopping centres. What really made our stay at the hotel so good was the excellent service we recieved throughout our stay. Staff were always polite and friendly and couldn't do enough to try and help us. Not all staff at the hotel speak English but the hotel made sure that the excellent Claudia , who spoke fluent English, checked in with us each morning to see how we were doing and help us is making arrangements for our tourist activities by booking taxi's for us and guiding us on when and where to go to places. Have been to Nanning many many times. Have stayed at so many different hotels because there are not many good choices at all in a city this large. Now that the Marriott Hotel is in Nanning, the city has a true 5 star Hotel. Yes I know some claim to be 5 star and I have stayed in them. There is a not a single 5 star hotel in Nanning EXCEPT the Marriott Hotel, irregardless of what you read in advertisements. This hotel is located and attached the largest new shopping mall in Nanning. Hard to beat this 5 star hotel that has 3 star prices. I would not stay anywhere else when I am in Nanning again.

My husband and I just returned from 4 days/nights at this hotel. We rarely stay in one spot that long, but as soon as we arrived at the Moondance, we decided to book our last 2 nights here as well. When traveling, it is always difficult to gauge the quality of a hotel online. I was particularly worried about China, having never been there and reading lots of terrible reviews of the hotels and staff generally around the country. Moondance was the first stop on our 3 week trip (after a night in HK), around China and we were so happy we booked the property. First, the rooms are enormous and the balconies are a perfect and peaceful way to take breakfast privately in the mornings. We regretted not bringing cigars, as they would also have been perfect for a nightcap and cigar. The location is wonderful- Yangshuo itself is a mess- a loud, party machine with lots of Chinese tourists. We are westerners from New York City, and appreciated being outside of the city but close enough for a short taxi ride out to dinner/drinks at night. The hotel is only 8 kms away, and we made use of the free bikes to go in during the day. The service was standout, as well. Although some of the staff were a bit young, they tried their best to make sure everything we needed was taken care of. I asked a million questions to the one girl that spoke the best English, and she patiently answered and assisted us in every way. The cons- The food was mediocre. We only ate breakfast there since it was included and we were too far out of the city to grab something else. We also had underwhelming sandwiches the night we arrived. However, we were happy that they at least offered eggs for breakfast, rather than just a Chinese option, so we didn't get too bothered by it. Also, you can't really walk to anything, if that is important to you.

This is the most luxurious resort in Yangshuo, but don't expect the Shangri-La though you'll pay the same price. No electricity issues like a lot of the smaller countryside hotels in the Yangshuo area. Beautiful blended modern/traditional Chinese architecture with very nice large rooms with outdoor balcony and patio bed. Most beautiful views of the karst mountains and river. Hotel is located at one of the waterfall breaks in the river, so you can swim in the river and hangout at the waterfall and watch the bamboo rafts go by. Also a humongous beautiful pool if you don't care to swim in the river. The riverside grill served great lunches, though the spaghetti was probably the best dish on the menu. Food is pricy though. They have a free shuttle to/from town which is very convenient. Downsides - Free breakfast was the worst quality I've had in a hotel at this price tier (extensive, but barely edible). Almost non-existent fitness room (a few machines does not make a fitness center). Worthless spa. It is only open by appointment, and no A/C. Wireless connectivity in the rooms was weak, so you have to go to the lobby. They do have free bicycles though. Staff was ok. Not the friendliest in China, but they responded to all our needs. Come here to enjoy the luxury, location, and views, just curb your expectations on the rest.

My family and I were very happy staying in this hotel. In fact we extended our stay for another 3 days. The owner and his wife were very kind and helpful; attended to all.our needs. The owner, Mr. Tang and his staff spoke good English and for a very small fee Mr. Tang drove us to wherever we wish to go in the city. He even gave good suggestions of where to go in Gulin. We took the triple suite room. The best part is the suite has two separate rooms. I would definitely recommend anyone who wish to stay in central guilin city to stay in this hotel. The Pedestrian Walk is just a 5 minutes walk away and there is a great Muslim restaurant (specialised in beef noodle) at the Walk. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Tang for making our stay in Guilin so pleasant and memorable.

Overall very happy with the stay. Found staff to be generally very friendly and helpful. They arranged a visit to Detian Falls for us, which included a packed breakfast and a lift to the bus station. Particularly liked the fact that the bed clothes were changed every day and the room thoroughly tidied up unlike other Chinese hotels I have stayed at which have been the same price. The location was perfect as it was less than 20 minutes from Nanning East railway station and Qingxiu mountain and the centre of the city

This hotel is in a beautiful setting. A little out of the city down a nice country lane, making for a beautiful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. From the moment we arrived we have enjoyed our stay. Upon arrival staff were so friendly and greeted us in english which was so nice after no English at all at our last 5 star hotel in Guilin. The staff very easily organized tours for us with english guides which we took advantage of. Highly recommend this place to stay my daughter didn't want to leave and i have to say i didn't want to either, just paradise in such a hectic country like China.

The location of this beautiful boutique hotel is perfect, very nearby to the central West Street, but on a separate alley so away from the noise. I stayed here for four nights with my brother and from the start we were delighted with the beautiful room we had here and the cozy boutique charm of the accommodation as a whole. Cheap 5rmb washing machine upstairs also very useful for travelers like us that don't like to carry too much clothing around. The supply of free snacks in the room was also awesome! Great friendly service from the staff and a much enjoyed stay in Yangshuo. Highly recommended!

Nice rooms with cute wooden bed and a terrace (had a view on limestone peaks). Know that large jacuzzi-equipped bathroom is totally open on bedroom, as often in Guangxi province, and suggests love hotel operations off-season! Great location, right in the city center, and 30m from a main road to take a cab and explore the surroundings: unbeatable. Own restaurant downstairs but plethora of choice around anyway. But, beware of the noise (like any hotel in Yangshuo's center) in the WE or during Chinese holidays: had a guy singing karaoke nearby till 2am the first night. Staff was good except for one lady who really looked exhausted and was not too willing to talk (though we speak Chinese). Anyway, overall, for the money and unbeatable location, super value.
