charming and clean”

clean rooms and bathroom facilites. great location by little india and the old town handy to jetty and plenty of delicious food options. reasonable wifi and comfortable common area.

Location, price and charm make this place highly recommendable in our opinion. we'd stay there again no worries. We stayed at red court inn several times and stayed in dorms, twin room and king room. All of the rooms were well presented in charming old penang style. the bunk rooms are solid and very comfortable. actually all the beds were lovely. all rooms have aircon too - very important! the bathrooms are all shared but it feels fine - they are clean and the showers are good. The wifi is reasonable and there is a comfortable common area on the ground floor to lounge in and watch a movie or have a can of expensive beer (beer in malyasia=very expensive). there is also a computer there for guests to use. the free breakfast is very basic just a few bananas a bit of watermelon and white bread to toast and eat with jam. But don't let it worry you - go across the road to the vegetarian place and get an excellent cheap breakfast there. Red cout inn does have some pretty steep stairs though so if you have knee problems or any other reason to avoid stairs then please be warned!

Good hostel”

Good, quiet hostel. Stayed 1 night but enjoyed it. Came here after I checked out elsewhere in georgetown bc I didn't like it. Prices of hostels in Georgetown in general are a bit high. Red Court is no exception. (You don't often see that it's more more expensive than the main city). When I checked in (this was before 14:00) the bed wasn't ready. No problem, only need it at night and left to explore. At 23:00 the bed still wasn't made and I had to go to another room. I didn't get my towel bc they where all gone and only came next day at 11. These 2 things could've been better organized. The hostel is very relaxing and quiet but still social. Employees are helpful and friendly. Bath facilities are good. Beds are good. Pillow was to simple. All in all would stay again, I assume the things mentioned above are not common.

Comfortable, Cheap Accomodation in a Prime Spot”

Location, Ambience, Comfort

I've come to Red Court Inn twice because it's in such a good spot in Penang and the lobby is a comfortable spot to hang out. Truly, the place has a lot of amenities for how cheap it is. It is right on Lebuh Pitt and backs into Little India. You can stay here, tour Georgetown and never have to rent a motorcycle or ride the bus. Great spot.

Do not book”

Convenient location, moderate cleanliness

We had a red eye flight and miss one night hotel booking at Red Inn Court. The staff was very helpful and offered us a room even when it's past midnight. Excellent service indeed! We was ensure that we will have another room the next night, which was our original booking date. That never happen. We normally do not write negative review, as most times the staff have been more then helpful. We had a bad experience and they do everything under par. Nothing to help us have a better stay. If you think of booking queen bed with private bathroom: - It is located right in front of the shared washroom. You have to WALK through the washroom to get to your room. Not very nice and you'll get everybody's hair on your feet. - the room easily transmit sound. When the 8-bed dorm people came back, you'll be the first to know when they shower. - the left side of the bed (when you standing looking at the bed) is extremely used. You'll sink right in - open the windows and its a beautiful view of houses roof. It gets better when it plays music for at night when it rains. Goodbye sleep - the washroom. They stole one of the shared one just for you. And we have no light for two nights straight. And nope can't move your room etc - so one day they were washing the shared basin. Yep, the water goes to your room too. I do recommend the hostel itself if you ever visit Penang. It's a great convenient, centered in the heart of the UNESCO heritage site. The hostel itself of moderately kept and clean. Breakfast are toast with butter and jam, bananas, watermelon and free flow coffee and tea (all day). They have a good resting area with DVDs and beanie. Tables and chairs for you to work and eat. We hope you have a better experience then us.

I originally booked 1 night here after staying somewhere else in Love Lane. I'm now on my 4th night and really like this Hotel/Hostel. I'm 50 and backpacking around Southeast Asia and stayed in the 6 bed mixed dorm which has everything i need air con, wifi, comfortable beds and close to all of Georgetowns attractions. The hotel is located at the strategic location within Georgetown where tourist attraction and eateries are conveniently available at walking distance. Although the price do not include breakfast, the owner is so kind to provide bread with jam and butter and some fruits every morning for the travelers. Great Location, wonderful stay”

The hostel is located in a really good location where the tourist sights, eating places, transportation and nightlife (Chulia Street) around Georgetown are within walking distance. The place is clean and the staff were really helpful when we stayed there. The double bed was comfy and apart from the irregular hot water for the ensuite shower, we enjoyed our time there. It has a space to chill on the ground floor (behind the reception desk). I reckon there's no need for a tv in the room as I don't expect visitors to watch anything as there's so much to do in Penang. We'll definitely come back again.

I really didn't expect what Red Inn Court has to offer. The room with the view of the town was really nice and so hug only for both of us. Even though we picked superior king bedroom with shared bathroom, the cleanliness of the toilet was really satisfying. The vibe inside the guesthouse was really calm and chill. Highly recommended to those who want luxury stay at a budget price.

Comfortable and good location”

Budget, comfy, location

I stayed in a 4-bed dorm for two nights. The room was quite clean on the first night, but not quite so on the second day. I was pretty sure the room service was there since the bed was clean and neat. They probably missed the floor. Anyway, it was a pleasant stay. The inn is old but well maintain and public transport is everywhere. About 10 minutes walk to Esplanade and to jetty terminal. Staff were very friendly and attentive. All in all, I would choose this place again the next time I come to Georgetown. :)

The hostel is well situated in the old Georgetown in the middle between the Chinese and the Indian quarters. The reception is nice people are polite and friendly. The room with twin bed has no window, no towel, no tv 📺 and very little , has fan and aircon. It was good we decided to stay extra nights but the room was booked so we took a double bed with towel, tv, few windows on the main road for only a couple bucks extra. Large room with aircon and ceiling fan . Toilets and showers shared 2 on the second floor . The free breakfast was good tea or coffee toasted bread butter and jam . Fresh Fruits as well thank you 😊

As this is a backpacker stay inn right in the middle of Unesco zone, the facilities provided actually is superb. All time tea and coffee supply, clean bath and toilet room with sufficient toilet rolls provided, room door is digital. I am staying in a room with double bed with clean room, clean bed sheet, for those booking in this kind of room, it provided 2 towels... and by the way, the staff is really friendly and helpful, and there is free Wi-Fi also.

Great location, but not perfect”

The location of the Red Court Inn is ideal - in the historic district and right near little India. The room was clean, but my airconditioning unit started dripping on my head in the middle of the night. Not ideal. The staff was nice and switched my rooms the next morning, but that was after a rather sleepless night. My new room had a window to the road which was rather noisy...

Location is good but the facilities are bad”

Location at the heart of georgetown city, Red inn court is the best. But you can get many hotels and much better compared to this hotel. The receptionist was gave me the unwelcome face and she was not friendly. The aircon and TV in my room were not really functioning. No action were taken even though report has been made. Just an average hotel but you can get much better hotel with the same price.

The best hotel in my trip.”

Good location, good price and Clean

I stayed in a dorm for 2 people. I like the strong bed that you will not noticed when another one move. The location is good and easy to find. I didn't try the breakfast because I had to leave the hotel at midnight to KL. Everything was great so I will recommend to anyone who visit Georgetown!

Great place to stay!”

I stayed in a few hostels in Georgetown and this was my favorite! The hostel has a great location, the staff is friendly and helpful, it's clean and the showers are amazing (rain showers). You have a place downstairs to sit and meet other people. There is a water dispenser and coffee and tea all day.
