Last minute booking”
We were here for one night only, and we booked in the early morning before arriving. The accommodation says 'includes breakfast' but when we had finished breakfast we got a bill for one person. It would have been nice to be told that the booking only covered for one person when we arrived at the reception. Also we wanted to use the facilities of the pool/jacuzzi space which says is there til 9pm but we were there from 8.15pm and there was no one and when we asked they said the jacuzzi space is there til 7pm. The hotel need to communicate better but the room was beautiful and spacious, we had a construction view so we kept the curtains closed. However it was a beautiful apartment that was beyond my expectations!

Higher quality makeshift”
The room was spacious and bed really comfortable, hotel big But Everywhere you could find unfinished areas (during the renovation). Breakfast was fine and stuff friendly but once, from afternoon till morning there was no one in the reception. In our room windows were broken so I could hear whats going On 6 floors below on the street. The water from shower was leaking On whole floor in bathroom, quality of televison was very bad, in the fridge was warmer than in room. And in the hotel swimming pool and restaurant were closed :/

The hotel was very helpful and accommodating. I felt at home. However the hotel needs to be maintained more. The staff are very kind, especially Alifa from the front desk and my favorite Dilshan. They also need to improve the dining area. The staff are very good but the hotel building needs better maintenance

Good average hotel”
The room was really big and had a beautiful view. But the building itself is not maintained well. The hallway would smell and the bathroom and sheets were not clean. I didn’t complain as my stay was short and i liked the staff. Mr Alifa was amazing and Dilshan too. They are the reason I would recommend the hotel. It has good ac and cooking facilities but the place needs to be maintained better.

Budget Hotel - You pay for what you get”
You pay for what you get. The stay could have been more comfortable but for the low price I guess it is to be expected. The staff were very courteous and ready to assist. The bed was clean but the bed room carpet was very unclean and soiled. The toilet too was not fully cleaned. Overall furniture was old and tired. The TV had many Indian channels and a few English. The food at the restaurant was of low quality and barely edible. The restaurant also had the ambience of a canteen. The entrance to the hotel is confusing and many taxi drivers could not locate the place. The lobby and entrance could be improved. Disappointed really because there is much potential if this property were to be better managed.

An unusual experience”
The stay at Ocean Edge Suites in Colombo is something we are going to remember. I had booked the suite through Agoda a few days earlier, and we had hired a private car with driver from Unawatuna to Colombo. We had problems finding the hotel, nobody seemed to know where it was and I knew for sure something wasn't as it should be, when the fourth person asked me: Do you have a reservation, madam? It turned out that the hotel hadn't opened yet, det opening was delayed due to delay with customs (our booking shouldn't have gone through). So all the things they needed, from linen to kitchen ware, was still in the harbour. They offered us to stay at another hotel, but I think I was a bit difficult and wanted to stay at Ocean Edge. And I must say they were fantastic. They gave us a suite that was made ready for one of the owner's parents (if I understood it correct). When we arrived they had just had the religious opening ceremony, and invited us to the common lunch they had after the ceremony (really good food). They didn't know what good they could do for us, the kitchen hadn't opened, so they brought us delicious tea every morning, snacks and drinks. Thank you, all of you, from the owner, general manager, to the room boys, EVERYBODY, you were so good to us (including us in the hotel family :-), and we didn't miss anything during our stay. It was really an experience being the first guests ever at your hotel. I hope we can come back some day. This hotel is a treasure”
There are so many wonderful advantages to Ocean Edge Hotel and Suites even beyond what you see in the photos and description. They work to make sure you have everything you need. The rooms are comfortable, pretty and clean. The beds are wonderful. It's so nice to have a kitchen available. They have drivers to pick you up or take you places (for a reasonable fee). They have a restaurant, bar and swimming pool onsite. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The location is lovely on the Indian Ocean and also within walking distance of many shops. My only suggestions are some possible safety issues I saw. The hot water in the bathroom is much too hot and could burn someone. (The kitchen sink didn't seem to have hot water. We were in room 809.) The elevator doors keep closing even if someone is not all the way in or out. Someone pushed the door close button on the elevator as I was entering and it closed on me and was quite painful. I might also suggest that the kitchen could use more amenities such as dish detergent, more coffee supplies and towels. Otherwise, this was one of the best hotels I've visited and I will definitely stay there again upon my return.

This is an all suites hotel. Suite had a balcony overlooking the ocean. Perfect for long stays. Room were full of amenities and had large storage spaces. Restaurant and bar had all the options. Pool and gym were functional. One of the best in Colombo.

On Marine Drive value for money, hotel has suites”
We were travelling with a Child. Me and child were vegetarian. Hotel was considerate enough to take care of all our needs. Staff was courteous. Rooms had all the amenities required when you are travelling. They can improve on Common areas. Although they had Pool & Gym. Lobby was not that great. Being on Marine Drive was the highlight. Breakfast was nice. Indian Food was excellent and probably best in Colombo. Would surely recommend for people looking at Value for money especially for Friends travelling together can make use of their Living Area in Suites & Dining Tables for In-room dining for Children

Value for money.. you get what you paid for.. Good location, Good food but limited menu. Very nice and friendly staff.. good gym.. small pool but very well kept... As usual like every other ocean facing hotel, you never get the ocean view room.. got partial view though. Dont understand these reception staff save the full ocean view rooms for exactly which type of guests..

a comfy suite at very reasonable price”
We were surprised how big the suite is, and it is fairly impressive that it is all furnished. TV in both the living room and the bedroom, and even cooking facilities are available. The hotel is not very new but I believe they have renovated it before as everything is in running order. Love the number of channels in the TV, you literally dont feel like stepping out of the room. Location wise it is just next to the sea, you can just cross the road for a nice sunset view. 15 mins drive to Galle Face Green, they have a lovely evening bazaar daily. You will need a driver to get you around anyway. Breakfast spread is also decent, both local and international fare. Would love staying here again in future.

A wonderfully equipped suite room with separation in living area, kitchen and bedroom. The panorama room has an unbeatable view of the ocean. The facilities inside the room was unmatched too. Very nice spread of breakfast, but some days it was monotonous with less option for vegetarians.

Fantastic Stay”
Had an excellent stay for 2 nights. Beautiful room and view of the ocean. Clean and comfortable room and bed. Excellent food and friendly room service staff. Ralf at the reception was professional and attentive. I reccommend this property and will definetely stay on my next visit.
