Great room, extremely friendly, fab breakfast”
A great location, just off the Negombo Beach Road means its a quiet location. We had a room at the back with a small balcony, which was good for drying clothes. Big bathroom and probably the best mosquito net in Sri Lanka. Very friendly family, warm, welcoming and extremely genuine. On our morning in Sri Lanka they didn't disappoint with a superb Sri Lankan break fast of coconut sambal, dhaal and string hoppers, with good strong coffee. Internet that worked This is a quiet location at a good price. Our only problem was finding it, our tuktuk driver took us to the Rani Resort (but that was him), a quick phone call to the new rani inn got us back on track. Highly recommended and a great way to end our month in Sri Lanka. The family also arranged (at the last minute) an 800 LKR tuktuk to the airport, which was another great last memory of the country.

This place is good value for your money.”
The place is literally just 2 minutes away from the beach but be aware that it is not on the beach side. You have to cross the street to get to the beach. The inn has a rooftop area which is still being built and gives you a panoramic view of Negombo. The owner, Rani was quite engaging to talk to and I felt at home at her establishment. She and her husband worked abroad for some time before returning to Sri Lanka so communication was not a problem. I wish I could have stayed longer. I had a really good stay.

The hotel is close to the beach, about 100-150 meters away. Also easy access to shops and post office. The owners are very helpful and attentive. They are good chiefs also. You can ask them to prepare Sri Lankan foods for you. Negombo is much closer to the airport than Colombo. Some part of the hotel is still being built or finalised, but the construction does not affect the staying at all (talk to the owners if you want to learn more about the reason for the ongoing construction). Highly recommended.

Overnight stay before flying out the next day”
My stay was short as I visited Negombo because of it's location to the airport. The staff at New Rani were very accommodating and friendly and made me feel comfortable. The building is new so still has some finishing to do but it did not affect my stay, and the room facilities were all new and pleasant to use. Staff were helpful in organizing transport for me and making sure my transfers etc ran smoothly.

Convenient, Friendly Staff, Good Food”
We stayed at the New Rani Inn several times through our trip in Sri Lanka because of it's convenient location near the airport/beach and it's accommodating, light-hearted staff. We'd recommend this to anyone needs to some R&R after a long flight, train, or bus ride.

Great budget hotel”
We only stayed for one night prior to departing Sri Lanka. Would definately allot more time for Negombo beach next trip to Sri Lanka. This was an excellent budget hotel with a friendly family running things. Great food.

Nice and comfortable staying”
We stayed at New Rani for one night but can recommend this place also for long staying. Very good location - close to the beach. The rooms are new and clean with private balcony and big bathroom. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great place for first night in Sri Lanka”
We stayed here our first night in country. They arranged a pickup for us at the airport and he was right there as soon as emerged from the airport. Our room was great - clean and comfortable. They had cold beer to counter the heat and humidity and were extremely helpful in helping us sort out plans to get to Habarana the next morning. Breakfast was ok - we would have preferred Sri Lankan breakfast but it was fine for eggs, toast,etc, and served with a smile and great care. If we had stopped back through Negombo on the way back out of the country we would have stayed there again and highly recommend it.

Short and nice stay in ranni inn”
My stay was for two days with my wife and two boys , it was nice and rani and her husband were so friendly and tried to help us us much as they can , there were two kinds of rooms , first is non conditioned and the other is conditioned, I preferred the confitioned one , ask for the shrimp , can be done so nicely , near yo the beach and near to the airport , nice choise for a short stay

Friendly staff, but beware of early departures”
Nice room and surprisingly big and renovated bathroom. Good value for the price. Upon asking for the wifi password, a man warned me not to download movies and books(!). This was done in a friendly manner, but I still found it a bit patronizing as even though I had no planned downloading plans, I doubt that such comments would actually work on those that do download tons of Gbs. In any case, a little strange, but no big deal there either. Hotel is in a nice location, very close to the beach also! As is almost always the case, non AC rooms have no mosquito screens in Sri Lanka and being inept at installing mosquito nets properly around the room, I spent most of my short night (I was leaving at 5 am) scratching myself and trying to figure out where the infernal critters were coming from as I closed all the doors and windows before going to bed. I had mentioned my early departure by email and think I also mentioned it to the lady who greeted me, but in any case, upon my return at 9 pm I did not see anyone at the reception, so I went straight to my room, which turned out be a mistake. When I got up in the morning, everything was dark and thankfully I had my phone flashlight app to lead me downstairs without injuring myself. I tried to be discreet, but when I finally reached the front door, it was locked from the inside with a key that wasn't available. I tried to sneak out the back, but that option was locked either. Thankfully, there was no fire that night. At that point, I didn't know what to do so I started to say a few "hellos" and banged on the reception desk. I then started shouting, heard noise but no one came. Finally, I was able to find the phone number and call. Luckily someone picked up and a grumpy person I had never met came and opened the door to freedom. Of course, after all this stress to catch a flight there my plane was delayed by 3 hours, but that's another story.

Pleasant stay near the beach ”
The stay was pleasant. We stayed last 3 days before flying back home. The hotel is about 150m from the beach, but also about 20m from the road so it was not noisy. Vicinity of shops and restaurants. We had only breakfast at the hotel which was au pair with similar hotels in Sri Lanka.

Helpful, friendly great for a late night arrival”
Organised for a driver to pick me up from the airport as I landed after 11pm so was concerned about finding the place. Very friendly and helpful when I arrived, no fuss with check-in formalities etc. just helped me get quickly to my room and showed me what I needed to know e.g. fan / bathroom & made sure I had an adapter to be able to charge my phone. Nice breakfast - would be nice to have a 'local' option. Would stay again.

Very friendly”
Rooms are very basic and hot. Room quality vary, some have a balcony others just have small windows. The room I had only had cold water in the shower and the windows did not close properly so despite the room and bathroom being clean there still was an overflow of insects in the room (mosquito's and giant cockroaches). Mosquito net was new and undamaged. This hotel/guest house gets the high ratings due to the friendliness and service of the staff. Breakfast is very basic compared to other hotels in this price range.
