Traveler impressions of Gangneung-si
The nearest place to go to Jeongdongin to welcome to sunrise! I love the Donghae beach as well as Jeongdongin.
This deceptively large city hold several gems, like the Donghae East Side Sea, the Seatrain, the Suncruise Hotel (a cruiseship on-land that has been turned into a resort) and Reunification park (which features a North Koreaon submarine and a former Battlecruiser from 1944).
Gangneung is a place full of historical value and beautiful scenery. Public transportation can be improved and more English signage would be better.
Visit the GYEONG PO LAKE.There are many poems phrasing the lake written by the ancient KOREAN poets.Take a birdeye view of the lake from the GYEONG PO LAKE PAVILION.
The sandy beach is good, but the weather was quite cold in the beginning of June, with too much rain to make use of it.
We enjoyed our time in Gangneung. With the 2018 Olympics coming soon, the city needs to get more signs and maps with more languages to help people navigate the city.
Travel every where by taxi, taxi fare from 3000 - 10000 won Can go for railway bike, seaside train and travel up for skiing
Seaside train - from Gangneung Staion (not the bus terminal)- 15000W one way to Samcheok )or any stops in betw, but samcheok Station is kinda isolated).
My favourite places were Jeongdongjin Beach, Ojukheon (including the small black bamboo forest) and Seogeumgang!
it is one of the best spots to have summer vacation in korea because of lots of beaches.during this time main highway is jam which is quite tiring.
