Highly recommended”

By far the best hotel in town

the only negative about this hotel is that it is nearly 2 km from the town center, not 0.2 km as stated in its description. but this is not a problem, as there are plenty of tuk tuks. we looked at all hotels and guest houses at the riverfront and ly cheu was by far the best option. we have no complains, the room was clean and adequate and the staff was very friendly. do your laundry here, they got rid of stains which weren't moved by many other laundries. and it was very cheap!

The check in was fast, the room was well arranged”

No restrict for extra children on existing bedding, Fast Check in and Clean Room

Ly Cheu is not really located in Kratie city center but it's not really far from this point. I only spent a few minutes to reach there. You might no seldom see the motor taxi outside the hotel but you can contact the receptionist to get one if you like. I was checked in so fast. What they need is my passport. The room was large and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

friendly staff, they do their very best.”

comfortable bed.

hotel bit old fashioned but was was fine. the lift didnt work - wet room shower with electric water heater. the bed was comfortable and room was clean. staff very friendly but did not speak much english. the restaurant only served cambodian food - the chicken curry was just bones with soya. lots of flies. the breakfast choice of eggs but not cooked properly so we didnt eat them - they do their very best and are so friendly. we had an early start to s.r and waitress was woken up and served us in her pyjamas with a smile. there is nothing else to see apart from the dolphins so just spend one night there. the hotel next door has live entertainment - it was good fun but menu only in cambodian. very friendly. to be honest i am not sure i would travel so far to krati again - long uncomfortable journey - just to see dolphins swimming around for an hour.

Clean and functional”

Easy to find; Clean; Friendly staff

The hotel was easy to find (on the road into Kratie from Phnom Penh) and clean. A little weird how so many internal lights were off.... cost saving?? Anyway the staff only spoke basic English but it did the job, there was free internet and while basic the room was clean and hey, you get what you pay for. So no complaints. I can't comment on the restaurant as I didn't use it. The hotel helped me organise onwards transport in an efficient manner. Main problem with the hotel is that it isn't really in the heart of Kratie. Not too long a hike but it was a bit of a walk. Note that if you are on a public bus from PP you will see this hotel on the right as you head into town but the bus doesn't stop near it, going into town. So it's hoofing it back out there or tuk-tuk (drivers wait for the bus).

no support for local sightseeing

the rooms (bathroom, air conditioning, tv) are clean, spacious and well furnished. the personel is friendly. but the price/performance ratio is not ok. hotels with this price range usually have english speaking staff and a cook who can cook. ly cheu does not have these characteristics.

Clean, Friendly staffs and quiet

The location is a bit far from Kratie City even it's about 1km but it's quiet location (surrounding). the staffs were friendly and room was clean and large. Breakfast needed to inform the staff before eating otherwise they will charge as they have other customers who bought the room without breakfast. Generally, the hotel is good.

pleasant stay”

Local transport- tuktuk drivers, the view from the room. pleasant friendly staff

Pleasant stay, it met our needs for our visit to Kratie. We hoped to see the Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong. We saw many dolphins during the ninety minute boat trip. A lovely experience. One tip, think twice before taking the taxi/minibus from Kratie to Phnom Penh as recommended by one of the hotel staff. The bus would be a much better trip!! The breakfast/food at the hotel not to my liking. The pictures of the hotel on agoda, of the shower/bathroom, may be will be not what you will get. They also have wet bathrooms.

we took a tuktuk from the centre/ river and drove and drove and drove (long way)and still did not reach the hotel. we decided to take our loss, and turned around to find another hotel that was in the centre/on the riverside. misleading text for this ly cheu hotel, it is not 200 m from the city centre (obviously depends on your defintion of city centre).

Lovely staff in an out of the way location”

Friendly, helpful staff

The hotel is a little bit out of the town and, unlike elsewhere in Cambodia, tuk-tuk drivers aren't everywhere. We always managed to get one though and the hotel called us one if there was no-one waiting outside. The room was very spacious and clean. We had a couple of minor problems (i.e. the electrics "tripped out" and we didn't have any towels one day) but they were all easily and quickly solved by the staff. One receptionist spoke fairly reasonable English but we found we got by with smiles, lots of sign language and creative mime! We did have breakfast included in our rate but the restaurant was unfortunately closed for Khmer New Year. We weren't offered any alternative.

A late evening check in after a long days travel by motor bike and we were happy to get to our room quick for a warm shower, 8/9pm and the kitchen was still open and able to serve us dinner, which was good. Comfortable bed in a big room, came with TV. Breakfast was free, omelette, baguette and ice coffee, perfect! though there was more choice for other`s. Perfect for our short stay.

Horrible experience”

High standard, good room comfort, but no more

We were completely disappointed by this hotel although it is a new built hotel with high room standard. I was surprised to read that even international conferences take place here. But bedlinen was not clean, staff was friendly but completely helpless and breakfast was the most horrible I ever had as far as quality and cleanliness is concerned. It is 2 miles away from the riverfront (not 0.2 miles as mentioned on the homepage) and Tuk Tuk drivers were not available. There seem to be few good alternatives to this hotel in Kratie where most people stay only one night to watch the dolphins.

Cheap price but far from centre of town”

Price, clean, quiet

This hotel is actually about 2-3 km from the centre of town. It is a $1 motodop ride or a $2-$3 tuk-tuk ride each way to the centre of town. There are not a lot of restaurants close by although there are some roadside places just across the bridge. The hotel restaurant is OK but not great. Other than the cheaper price, this hotel is pretty basic and you would be better off staying closer to the centre of town elsewhere.

Quite new ans well maintained.

The elevator was a pleasant surprise - not common in hotels of this size in Cambodia. Check in and out was efficient. The room was a reasonable size but the aircon was not as effective as it should be. The evening meal ordered from the menu was not available. The substitute and the 'free' breakfasts were all eminently forgettable. Location is not great - there are better riverside options.

Out of the way, large room”

large room, friendly staff

Our stay here was just okay. The rooms are getting old now and are in desperate need of an update; although they are spacious enough. The shower was a 'wet room' style and there was not much water pressure. The hotel seemed completely empty apart from the two of us. Breakfast choices were limited to asian style noodles/soup. We ended up with only bread and jam which was a disappointment as we always look for nice breakfasts wherever we stay. Tuk tuks can be arranged up to Krampi to see the dolphins. You are better off booking it with the hotel than with another tour agency as their fees will go right up, we paid $10 each for the tuk tuk, which was a rip off. The electricity on our floor was only turned on once we'd gotten out of the elevator, so that was a bit spooky at night time. It is a good 30minute walk into town to see the main wat or eat at a nicer restaurant etc.
