Ab Fab!”
I really don't want to share this, but being an avid traveler and counting on other travelers sharing their best experiences I think I have to. Sharing is caring! One night in Bangkok. Travelling from Cambodia I planned to spend one night in Bangkok. I love Bangkok! I looked for a smaller hotel with a nice feel and stumbled upon this little gem. Everything about Loy La Long makes you feel special. Like you know something others don't. A secret place hidden behind a temple. The taxi driver (and I) looked for quite some time before we found it. For a regular place that would be annoying, with Loy La Long it's part of the experience. It started with their website. It's different and sets the level of expectation. Especially if you're looking for quaint and personal. When I was searching for the "secret entrance" in a narrow alley I was met by the next door neighbour sitting outside playing with a little kid. She smiled and pointed at the door next to hers, and there it was. The gatewa

Simply an Amazing Experience”
Loy La Long exceeded my expectations above and beyond. If your looking for an EXTREMELY relaxed environment where you can enjoy peace, quiet, meditation (if you want) or simply enjoy the delicious made to order yummy food that Taum cooks up for you....this is the place. The shared common area's look like authentic Thai decor with a peaceful hippy commune influence. We stayed in the #1 Green River Suite, which was pretty much the coolest room I have ever stayed in. It features windows on 2 sides of the room where you can get a a fresh cross breeze. You can hear the river water sloshing underneath the floorboards which was simply euphoric and calming. We only had the honor of staying one night here at Loy La Long but this 1 night felt like I was whisked away for days living in peace and harmony with the world. It's quite a splurge for Bangkok but well worth it. When I return to Bangkok this will be the only place I ever stay. Enjoy! Heather and Rich

Quaint Oasis and Great Staff!”
If you are looking for a calm oasis in the middle of the bustle of Bangkok, the Loy La Lang is the place for you. Tucked away along the river in the Chinatown section of the city, this hidden gem offers a serene and intimate setting with only a few rooms available. Each of the unique rooms offers all the essential amenities and the common space is warm and inviting, with a small restaurant that offers a surprising range of freshly prepared dishes. What really sets this place apart, however, is the friendly and courteous staff, who make sure you have a pleasant stay. Although slightly difficult to find, you have easy access to the various water transportation options in the city, and taxi and tuk tuks are readily available in the area. The Loy La Long is a perfect alternative to the cookie-cutter hotel experience. Should I find myself in Bangkok again, I will certainly stay again!

Never Judge by appearances ”
Our stay at the Loy La Long was perfect, the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We had drinks given to us on arrival and our bags were taken to our room whilst we enjoyed our drink sitting on the seats watching the boast go by. Our room was beautiful, very individual, clean and tidy. We loved the uniqueness of this hotel and all the small touches are what made it the perfect hotel. We must admit we were a little afraid when we were dropped at the gates of the temple and told it was in there somewhere, by the taxi man, the outside is a bit daunting as we expected to see a hotel front as such... it was just a little door on a patio.... however once you stepped through the door, you literally said wow!! We would definitely stay there again!! and would recommend it to anyone heading to Bangkok. We also wanted a quiet night in there which was perfect, as there was DVDs that you could watch, we did that too, but also just sat in the common area and on the balcony with a chang watching the boats and the world go by! nice and peaceful beauty, in the middle of a busy Bangkok!

wow! loy la long is an experience - a real jem!!”
we found lay la long on the internet and did not think it could be as beautiful as it's description - we were wrong it was better. if you are fed up with the corporate style, 5 star blandness of the big hotels - this is the place. if you prefer style and authenticity to another anonymous sky scraping hotel that will look the same if you were in bangkok or new york - try loy la long ! it is spacious and homely in a very traditional thai way - the decor is superb in a rustic style. you can sit and watch the river boats go by, in the chill out lounge area.. food is good - small menu - but great quality. it is about a 10 min walk to the nearest boat taxi stop, which will take you to the main temples for about 15 baht! very unusual setting in the grounds of the temple. we had late night flight, we had to leave room about mid day but leaving our bags was not a problem - there is a bathroom/shower for changing before you travel. highly recommend this hotel

Exceptional”
The people at Loy La Long are simply the best. They’re so sweet and helpful and accommodating. They really make this place stand out. Them and the view. Having a room that sits right on the water and seeing the temple across the river is incredible. The one bad thing about being on the river is that you can hear the loud party boats all night and the ferries/tour boats all morning, plus the water slapping the floorboards during high tide if you stay on the ground floor. The hotel is tucked away, so you don’t get the street noise though, which I appreciated. The breakfasts were delicious and a great way to start the day before heading out. The place was clean and the decor has a great combination of old world structure with modern eclectic design. It became a lovely little oasis away from the dirt and clutter of the Bangkok streets. I will definitely stay here again if I’m in Bangkok.

Beautiful boutique hotel, wonderful and friendly staff and service!”
My wife and I stayed at Loy La Long in the Black Room and absolutely loved it. The place itself is a bit hard to find at first, tucked into a temple complex (that also hosts a car park) and abutting the Chao Praya, but luckily as we hunted for it one of the staff members saw us and led us straight to the front door. Once inside we immediately fell in love with the restored teak house that makes up the hotel. The owner and her staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful in making recommendations and helping you navigate this massive city. The hotel itself is just outside of the Chinatown area, so you are walking distance from some of the best food in Bangkok. The room has a fantastic view of the river (literally right on it) and a very comfortable bed. Every morning they cooked and served a breakfast of our choosing (requested the previous day) and every day it was excellent. There are two common areas that also look out on to the river with an open-air design, and there are snacks, water, beer, etc. that you can purchase at any time by writing down what you take on a post-it note and adding it to your room tab (perfect for a night cap when you finally get home after a day in the city). One hundred percent we would recommend booking here and would stay here again ourselves on our next trip.

Excellent little treasure of a hotel ”
This hotel is located within a temple and directly on the river. It’s a lovely little oasis in the middle of Bangkok. There was a bit of skepticism approaching the front entrance wondering what I may have booked however once through the doors we entered a charming, welcoming, rustic little piece of heaven. There is a main area to sit with a perfect ducks eye view of the river where you can eat, drink or simply sit and watch the river and it’s bustle. The rooms are comfortable, clean and unique in their individuality. There is a choice of breakfast provided, all delicious and well prepared with unlimited strong coffee! The hotel is centrally located and close to the river taxi stops and very close to the flower markets and Chinatown. it’s walking distance ( 45 minutes) to the Imperial Palace with lots of other sights to see in-between. Loy La Long made our stay in Bangkok very enjoyable with great service, friendly staff and genuine hospitality.

Hidden gem away from the Bangkok bustle”
We stayed here for three nights and had a really great experience. The place has tons of character and breakfast overlooking the river was a great start to our adventures in the city. And speaking of the food, I wouldn't normally eat at the "hotel" where I was staying. However, Loy La Long doesn't feel like a hotel and the food, which they make right there, is truly some of the best home cooking we had on our two week vacation to Thailand. We stayed in the Blue Room which was perfect for two people with good views, and was very clean. I will say that it was nearly impossible for any of the taxi drivers to find the place, even after we supplied them with the directions from the hotel in Thai. Our solution? Tell the taxi driver to drop you off at the Golden Buddha and walk five minutes to the hotel. Worked great every time. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a place with character and quiet refuge from the frenetic energy of Bangkok.

Awesome unique rooms in a fairly unwelcoming city”
This was the best part of our Bangkok stay. When we went out to see the sites or visit museums, Bangkok was difficult to navigate with a lot of grifting taxis and tuk-tuks. At the end of the day, we could always look forward to picking up some great food from the carts nearby and sitting on the upper or lower deck waterfront seats at the Loy La Long Hotel. Note that there is a lot of urban wildlife around, so you may have to suffer loud cats and birds or riverboat traffic at certain times of the day. This is a condition of the hotel's location. The wat (temple) in front is not busy, very peaceful. Taxi drivers have some trouble finding the place, but a phone call typically clears things up.

We can't say how much we loved this place.”
We adored this place and will return should we travel to Bangkok again. Our experience was wonderful from check-in to check-out. The staff was so kind and helpful during our stay and we loved our room. Some might find the rooms a bit small but they are perfectly appointed and they are air-conditioned. Being right on the river was a wonderful perspective of Bangkok. We also enjoyed the prepared breakfasts very much as well as food ordered from their menu. Loy La Long Hotel was our favorite place to stay in our two week journey. I wish we could of had more than three days.

So charming and peaceful”
We had a great time in Bangkok and Loy La Long was a big part of the reason. The property is downright charming and the staff are so helpful and kind. We were very happy to be able to walk to the Golden Buddha and Chinatown, and also enjoy watching the river traffic while relaxing in the hotel or eating breakfast. We had the red room, which was not directly on the water but still had a view from the balcony. There is some noise from the neighborhood and boats, but we felt it added to the charm and made you feel like you were a local. The rooms are not ultra luxurious but very comfortable and thoughtfully done. The complimentary breakfasts are so so good. We also ordered drinks one night (bojitos - basil mojitos) and they were fantastic too. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff and how helpful they were with getting us a Grab and giving recommendations on what to see. Be sure to print the address/map from the website (in thai) to give to your cab driver. It’s hard to find!

Place with soul”
From Loy la long, you can see Shangrila and Sheraton and feel pity for all these people staying at stuffy 5 star chain hotels. Loy la long is place with soul, and the staff are kind and go beyond to make you feel comfy. Big thanks to Ten who made me some tea when i was feeling under the weather. I stayed on the weekend and river was chill until 10am, so just rise in noise levels there from the long tail boats. The place is also where mostly couples stay, so if you’re a solo traveller and mind that, then that’s something to consider. One of my top 3 fave places to stay in Bangkok!

Exquisite hotel with authentic Bangkok experience ”
Very recommended for couples! Location is not the best, it is near China Town and the largest golden Buddha, but fairly accessible. Other than location other things are impeccable. Definitely recommended.. if you are up for the authentic Bangkok experience - living by the riverside, loy la long hotel is not to be missed. The best hotel I have ever stayed in Thailand!

An oasis of peace in the heart of Bangkok ”
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at loy la long and would recommend the hotel for couples seeking a romantic getaway. the rooms are quirky and very comfortable with excellent beds and bedding making for a blissful nights sleep. the communal areas are similarly relaxed and romantic in style with decks on two levels overlooking the river. the hotel manager is ever present and endlessly helpful, making breakfast every morning as you rise and offering great local advice and assistance for his guests. the one downside was the shower, which was pretty to look at but small and impractical. not all rooms feature this shower so it would be worth asking prior to booking about the facilities of available rooms. this is not your standard, run of the mill hotel; it's located in a little alleyway behind a temple and can be difficult to find! once inside, however, we were struck by the wonderful sense of pleasurable calm created in this appealing little boutique establishment. highly recommended.

Highly recommended!”
There really aren't words to say how wonderful it was to stay at the Loy La Long hotel. Cool and funky, it has a wonderful vibe. The staff members are thoughtful and proactive. For instance, since I had a late flight, I asked if I could store my bag. They not only readily agreed to that, but offered that I could take a shower when I returned (AND when I got back, my towel was already sitting on top of my suitcase folded and ready)! After my first dinner there (Pad Thai), I never went anywhere else - the food is absolutely delicious - and that includes the cooked-to-order breakfast that comes with the room. In every aspect, the aesthetic is fabulous and the location right over the river simply can't be beat. Two things, that I have found rare in Asia, deserve a special mention - truly comfortable beds and delicious brewed coffee in the mornings. I'm already looking for an excuse to return! One word of caution - can be a little hard to find. Hire a taxi to get you there the first time.

Best little secret to see other side of Bangkok!”
This is for the traveler who wants to experience the sights and sounds of Thai Life on the river! Beautifully acquainted and staff cannot do enough. There is plenty of room in common areas to enjoy meals, tea, or a drink! Food was delicious. The staff makes you feel at home providing everything from things to do, things to avoid, taxis, etc. Breakfast included and loved my dinner on the patio watching boats. It can get noisy with boats, river waves, people, and rain.. but I loved it. I felt safe in the city as a single female traveler riding river taxis, visiting Khao San ( my favorite), markets, temples, and museums! Had to move to big city Bangkok and did not enjoy enough! Will miss Nit and Vivik.. thank you Loy La Long!

Great little gem in busy Bangkok”
Really loved my stay at Loy La Long. The location is unique, as the hotel is right by the river inside a temple, which gives it a very peaceful vibe. There is quite a lot of boat traffic, less so during the night, so this might disturb some, though didn't bother me. The location is also a good base for exploring the city, as the MRT and river boats are nearby. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the place is kept very clean. Keep in mind that the nature of this hotel is that it is a boutique hotel, so don't expect five-star dining and amenities. Instead you'll get a lot of character. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone, who is looking for a more unique stay in Bangkok, away from the cookie-cutter high rise hotel towers.

Charming and unforgettable ”
This was my favorite stay in the two weeks we had in Thailand. The place is so obviously loved by the owners and staff, it’s incredibly charming and quirky and inviting and sincere. The food was great, the views were great, the rooms were comfortable and cool. The staff had genuine tips, which is particularly welcome in a city where scams prevail. They even made us to go breakfast sandwiches because we had to leave for our flight at 3am. I would recommend bringing some earplugs, the river traffic can be very noisy at night. Also, like they advise, take the water ferries, I wish we would have known sooner how much easier it was to get around via river. Bangkok can feel a bit harsh at times and Loy la long really helps to soften its edges.
