the twin room was big.. the view from our balcony was breathtaking! love the view of the mountain and river. if you dont have car and have heavy luggage then just beware, to arrive in this hotel have slopes and staircases which will really be a challenge esp. to senior citizens. some area of sauna was closed.. but the big area of hot spring sauna was open, so can still enjoy it.. need to wear covid mask while enjoying the hot spring... breakfast is same during our 2 days stay.. and its a simple taiwanese style buffet breakfast, nothing especial. the bus station is nearly the hotel, so its convenient..

Good value for money”
This hot spring area is far from Taichung city centre. It took about 2 hours from Taichung train station or HSR station. But the plus point is you alight at the end stationand it took a minute walk from the station to the hotel and the hotel signage is easy to spot. Having had vacant rooms., the staff assigned me to a two double-bed room. I enjoyed the spaciousness and the balcony. The amenities in the room are standard, though I spotted dirt on the floor. The flushing system is not good. Breakfast has a wide range of choices. The public hot spring is natural and standard. There are no additional spa pools, except sauna room. There are almost no scenic spots in Kukuan area. You only enjoy the hot spring at your hotel.

ku kuan is pleasant place to visit although it is quiet and small, i love the drive from taichung to ku kuan, you can find a lot of farm houses enroute. ku kuan hotel is an affordable hot spring hotel, its facilities are rather basic but ok for me.

A Pleasant Surprise”
After the bad press this hotel has received, we set our expectations low. For us, it was just a place to stay while we did some hiking in the area. It was by far the cheapest hotel in Gu Guan, so we went for it. The hotel is not pretty from the outside - but none of the hotels in the area are! This is, after all, Taiwan... The staff were really friendly and helpful, despite their lack of English. The room was spacious and clean, the bed very comfortable. We even had a balcony! We went to the hot spring in the evening. It was very clean, had good facilities, and a nice vibe -it's probably the best hot spring we've been to in Taiwan. We decided not to eat in the hotel in the evening, and went into the village where we found some lovely fish restaurants. Breakfast the next day was very Taiwanese, but perfectly nice. My only complaint was that the water in our room smelled strongly of rotten eggs. This makes no sense as it was not a sulphur hot spring, but I guess it was fed from one. Washing your hands and showering in fart-smelling water is strange, but it was authentic I suppose!

Old-fashioned hotel with clean rooms”
This old hotel has large clean rooms. It is right on the river and has fantastic balcony views of the gorge. Hot spring water is on tap, as well as in the outdoor hot pool.It is just off the quiet main road and easy to find. The set dinner is of generous proportions and good value for money.The buffet breakfast is typical Taiwanese fair and just adequate. Overall good value for money

Pleasant Hotel”
I enjoyed my stay there. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including hot water and packets of instant coffee and tea, and a fridge. The free breakfast was a large buffet and had lots of variety, though it was almost all Taiwanese items (noodles, meats, vegetables) as opposed to Western. Access to the hot springs was included. We arrived quite a bit earlier than check-in time, but were still given a room right away, and it was a nicer room than what we thought we were getting from the website. I would stay there again.

room was nice and clean and very spacious. had trouble finding a parking space at the parking lot. arrived at 8pm and all spaces were already taken. had to park the car at a non designated spot. onsen was what was expected. more like an outdoor kiddie pool than a true onsen. people were noisy, kids were running around splashing water and no one except me showered before getting in so the water wasnt exactly clean. Next morning I went for a dip at the hot spring again and it was much better as most of the tour group had left. breakfast was pretty standard buffet style. overall I enjoyed my stay there.

Very old furnished, need renovation right now Upon check in, you will have an expectation on how old of this hotel is. Staff is all over or looks like near 50+. Basic hospitality. Onsen can be used from 6 – 10pm. However, we clashed with pool cleansing day (once a month). The onsen pools are quite clean. Outdoor view is enjoyable. Bathing room need renovation immediately. You will not enjoy the shower there. Better do that in your room. Breakfast place makes you feel like going back to 70s. selection is fairly good. Salad is fresh. Drink is not recommended. You will not be lonely coz flies are around. Many local/ china tour. Lovely elderly around.

It's about 40mins from the urban by driving, you have better go in the day time, because it might be a litte dangerous to thouugh the moutain in the evening. The environment is so natural and comfortable.

Only hot spring was good but still need to maintain some place such as locker ( many r out of order) & roof ( raining) . This hotel is very old fashion w very inconvenient place. There is hill road w lots of staircase to enter or exit hotel., so if u r not driving, I'm not suggest to stay in. We went on week day n poor free breakfast made us no appetite. Hotel room is ok but bed cover has strong cigarette smell even we request no smoking room. If Bathroom door open, u can not use toilet... it's kind of funny & I'm irritated by this door

Great area but very poor old infrastructure”
The area is nice but hotel is far too outdated with old facities, Restaurant an breakfast poor quality and choice. Rooma also very old and dingy. Onlyvthe hot spronga and pools are nice surronded by nice montains and forest.
