Nice beach hotel in affordable price”

I was at Koh tao royal resort with my boyfriend for 3 nights. The hotel is 7-10 minutes walk from the pier, not so big but clean and cozy. Staff are really helpful with everything you need and the reatuarant is solid. The hotel has their private beach

Wonderful Staff and Location”

Our family with three children aged 8 to 12 years loved this place… the kids loved the "Swiss Family Robinson" style room with their own floor and balcony above ours. This style bungalow would probably not suit toddler aged or young children… the stairs were a little precarious - but perfect for us. The bungalows are rustic, but really suit the environment of Koh Tao. The double bed was pretty hard - though all the mattresses we slept on in Thailand were! We were up near the top of the hill which was not a problem for us. We did have air con in our room… which we did use regularly. The convenience of the small, but well shaded beach with superb snorkeling (though perhaps a little shallow at low tide) right in front of the restaurant was perfect. The restaurant had well priced food and drinks. We also loved that it was just a short walk (2 mins) to the township of Mae Haad which had a good range of inexpensive food options. The staff make this place - very friendly and helpful… the best we came across in the five places we stayed at in Thailand. Steven went the extra mile and whisked me off on the back of his motorbike to a local A&E place to get some stitches after I had a run in with some coral. Kho Tao was the highlight of our holiday.

Lovely staff!”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Koh Tao Royal Resort. We were travelling with our two year old and the staff were so helpful - even stopping renovations on the bungalow next door for her nap times! Basic accommodation but everything you need and lovely beach out the front.

Good value for money”

I had so much fun! I slept well. Even by just sitting and relaxing at the hotel's beachfront gives you time to appreciate the beauty of nature. I will definitely recommend Koh Tao Royal Resort to friends.

Very good”

The location was really good, it has the beach just in front of the restaurant, a very beatufill small beach. it is close to the restaurants, bars and shops, and close to the pier, so when you arrive to koh tao you just have to walk for a few minutes, no taxi. The staff was fantastic as well. They where really nice and resolutive.

lovely peaceful week in paradise ”

Excellent time, booked 5 days and stayed for 7. Steve and Polly were very welcoming and helpful. If I go back to Koh Tao I will definitely stay at Royal Resort.

Great location & bungalows and friendly staff”

We stayed at Royal Resort 1 week, just before Christmas 2013. The place is surrounded by lots of wild nature and just in front of the sea. We slept very deep and well the whole time, it was a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff would always smile at you so kindly and do their best. We really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. We´d also recommend to do the hiking untill shark bay or freedom beach as you´ll see the most bautiful beaches on the island. Leila & Bjorn

Overpriced”

PROS - handy for shops, restaurants, ferry, beaches. Lots of butterflies in the garden. Comfortable bed with mosquito net. Nice empty fridge. Friendly helpful girls on reception, but most Thais are like this that's why so many people come to Thailand. CONS - Tired old dark wooden bungalow, inside dark, even with the dim light bulbs. Very basic. Bathroom was down a set of 6 steps, not good in the middle of the night. Only one mirror and no power point next to it so difficult for men with electric shavers. No hanging rail, no towel rail. When it rained heavily water poured in through the bathroom ceiling. We told the staff but nothing was done about it. Much too expensive for what you get. There are much nicer places to stay in Mae Haad town for a lot less money.

Great location ”

the hotel is close to the main pier of Koh Tao, the view is good ,and you can also snokeling just around the hotel-which is close to the beach, and the room rate is reasonable

Great location”

The resort is positioned as a luxury one. However, apart from the great location, there is nothing luxurious about it. The bungalows are quite cute, however they are not clean enough for the price. The few pieces of furniture were full of dust and sand. Moreover, the bed sheets are worn out that you can see the mattress underneath. Breakfast is not value for money. It's very expensive for the quantity and quality you get. I ordered muesli with fruit abd yoghurt. For 150 baht i got 4 spoons of muesli with a few pieces of fruit and 2 spoons of yogurt! I was still hungry! Go somewhere else for breakfast.. At Chill @ Ko Tao, a very cute bar in front of the pier, you get a breakfast for half the price but better quality and bigger size! Overall it's a good resort because of the location, the beach is just there and snorkelling is great.

Have to kep all your think in you suitcase”

Royal resort has nice wood bungalows with a lot of space between eac other, and a nice terrace. The problem is that is absolutely NOTHING to hang your closed, and no tablets at all, not even in the bathroom, so you just have to keep everything in you suitcase. A big mess if you stay more than one day. The terrace has a beautiful view on the sea, the sea is terribly dirty ;(( When you arrive at the peer, no need for a taxi, just turn the fist road on you right walk till the end of the road ( 5 minutes). The restaurant of Royal is much more expensive than the others nearby, good but not the best. A real petty that the bungalows are not equipped with a minimum.

We extended our stay, staff couldn't fo enough for you. Basic traditional accommodation, but lovely experience. Perfect beach 2 mins from hut, close enough to busy resort but perfect for quiet relaxing environment.

Great resort, the beach is not large but it's beautiful, rooms are clean with all amenities to expect in Thailand + hot showers

very Lovely & friendly staff”

We have been 4 days and the vibes was great. The staff is very lovely and the location is rasonable the best for the price. Clean, relax, in front the sea and amazing sunset from the beach of the hotel.

Good Location. Reception is really nice”

The girl who stayed at reception was Great, she answered us everything and gave a good advice. Room was good but refrigerator was not cool and the queen size bed was very hard i could feel a spring under my back. It was a terrible night with that bed, i could not sleep well. In the room had and a gecko. Resort beach is beautiful and clean. Love it.

Excellent for the price, very friendly”

Excellent! The room is not perfect but the staff is very kind always asking you how you are doing, giving you some advice for what to do, the price you shoulod pay for it. They can book long tail boats for you. The restaurant on the beach is very nice especially around 6pm, beautiful sunset!

Relaxation”

Great. Awesome welcome with lots of information, quick check in and restaurant/reception on the beach. Bungalow was amazing, nice balcony with hammock and table and chairs, safe box in room, mosquito net, hot water, comfortable bed. Only downside was no wifi in room. Beach clean and beautiful. Towels provided. Could do with more sunbeds maybe however beach never felt crowded. Room cleaned on request to high standards. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Amazing stay, just what we needed as our treat after backpacking for 2 months!

Really nice resort. Great staff and great food in the bar/restaurant. I would recommend air con as we were too hot with the fan. Other than that we had a fab time. Would definitely stay again

Don't do it. It's worth paying a little more.”

The rooms are very small and the bathroom was icky. The worst thing though was having to practically beg for more toilet paper every day. We ate in the restaurant once and waited a long, long time for a green papaya salad. The owners are nice enough, but something at the Koh Tao Royal isn't working. We are staying in a place in Chaing Mai now for the same price and it is 10 times better.
