Private beach
Quiet, private and perfectly situated.”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Koh Tao Regal Resort and would highly recommend it to others. The hotel is located in a quiet and private spot, yet is perfectly situated with a 5 minute beach walk to Mae Hat and a 10 minute walk to the the town of Sairee Beach. The convenient onsite restaurant serves delicious Thai food and the hotel spa offers excellent Thai massages. We found all the staff members to be friendly, hard-working and helpful and were especially impressed with the groundskeeper who kept the pool sparkling clean. The Crystal Dive school uses the hotel pool for some of its lessons, so this would be a great location for someone interested in diving as well.

Quiet hotel, but great location”
We had only booked 2 nights here originally, but we ended up staying for 10 nights in total. The room was lovely, clean & big, great value for money. The hotel was dead at night which we liked but you can walk into town along the beach 5 mins if you want something a bit busier. Restaurant food was good, oblynprobleknis there were a few power cuts per day but it didn't put us off. Right on the beach and 5 mins from shops, pier and diving shops. We will defjnitely be coming back to Koh Tao & will stay at Koh Rai Regal Resort!

Comfortable stay, good location”
I stay at the Koh Tao Regal Resort from 27th Dec 14-2nd Jan 15.As a group of 11, only 3 of us had booked & upon arrival, the staff were most accommodating to see everybody had a room. I had a king size room to myself with a very large bed, large room & large bathroom! Very comfortable & clean. I was on the first floor nearest the restaurant. The food and was average but you can't really complain when you see the prices! The hotel was quiet and just a short walk to the nightlife. Whilst the pathways are quite dark, we were a large group so always had safety in numbers. I wouldn't like to walk it alone as a female at night. The hotel itself Is right on the beach & you can enjoy the Thai sunsets from the hotel bar. The lady who works at the bar was delightful. Nothing was too much, even if it was popping to the shop to buy somebody cigarettes! I should mention the hotel is not too far from the pier. I had 2 massages during my stay which at £8 a time, I would highly recommend! The pool is a good size & clean, however there are limited sunbeds and they aren't particularly comfy... Just wooden. As far as value for money goes, I would recommend this hotel. It is as comfortable & clean. The staff were hospitable and friendly too. I would definitely stay here again.

Lifesaver”
We had read so many mixed reviews about hotels on Koh Tao that we didn't book anything in advance but just walked around to see what's available. The second I saw the room in Regal I said "we'll take it". The AC is quiet and efficient and the hot water + water pressure are reliable. The 3 pools make it easy to play around with kids. The beach is nice and the bar is a relaxing hangout. For the first time on my travels in Thailand I didn't need earplugs to get a good night sleep. It's worth the money!

Great rooms at a good price”
this room was probably the cleanest we had in our 3 week trip to se asia. the hotel is just a few minutes walk down a path from sairee. the beach in front of the hotel wasn't my favorite but neither was the beach in sairee. the great thing is everything is a short scooter or boat ride away in koa tao so if you are looking for a comfortable room and nice staff then koh tao regal is definitely a good choice.

Great Time ”
Based on reviews I had read, I decided to walk along the beach to get to the Koh Tao Regal Resort. It was less then a ten minute walk and easy to find as it looks exactly like the pictures posted on Agoda. I was a little concern about trying to register early because the ferry arrives very early, but that was not an issue at all. My room was ready at that time and I was brought straight to my room. They brought me to the wrong room at first, I had book at pool view and they tried to put me in a standard room, but I just showed them my booking again and was immediately moved to the room I booked, without any issues. As soon as you enter the hallway to go to your room, you can tell the hotel is dated. The halls are kinda dark and the design is outdated. The room itself was clean, spacious and nice but again a little dated. Very heavy black wood furniture filled the room and all of it could use a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom appeared to be a recent upgrade and very nice. One of the first things I noticed was the large rain shower head, but when I turned on the shower was disappointed that the shower head was so caked with grim that hardly any water came out at all and most of the holes were blocked. The pools were amazing and I spent most of my time in them. Being right on the beach was very nice too. The water was clear and and the beach only had a bit of garage on it. The food at the restaurant was OK. The wait staff's English was not that great and had to couple mix ups but nothing to stress about. I did not have any issues to have to interact much with the other staff so I can not really comment on them. They were friendly, with a smile and a hello but that was the extent of my interactions with them. If you are looking to just hang out at the pool and the beach this is a great place to do so. Overall, I very much enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Koh Tao itself was a little less than impressive for me however.

Great hotel”
my girlfriend and i stayed in hotel regal resort for 4 nights and couldn't complain. the hotel is situated on a quiet beach where the hotel pool looks onto. only bad thing about pool area was thst the sun was blocked in some areas after 2pm however a 20 meter walk to the beach still had it. staff were very pleasant but service at poolside restaurant could have been quicker ( to be expected in thailand). would definitely return to this hotel and really enjoyed koh tao.

Lovely quiet hotel”
We liked our room so much, it's cleaned up perfectly every day. Fluffy nice towels provided. The best thing was its quietness, you hear nothing but only waves coming and going while sleeping, which was absolutely lovely. We stayed at superior pool view, but you can see the sea too from your room actually. The shower was good although you have to wait for a while to get hot water. They are still working on their private beach, so it was not perfect and clean yet, which was a bit shame thinking of the cleaness of the rooms. The restaurant can be improved better?? We prefered having breakfast at Cafe Delsol on Mae Haad, yes it's only 5min beach walk to the port and the centre of Mar Haad. Also it's only 10-15min walk to Sairee Beach. But the road is quite rough, steep and dark, so you'd better carry your small torch with you when going out in the evening. The reception desk is open at 8am, we wanted to check-out eariler for the ferry ride, but we couldnt, anyway, we were in time for the ferry to Koh Samui though. In total, it was a lovely hotel.

Great hotel, good value for money, prime location”
Me and my partner stayed at the Koh Tao regal August 2011. The location and price were the highlights for us, aswell as the pool being very nice. The hotel staff were ok, they were helpful but not as friendly as we other hotels we have been to. All in all i would recommend staying here and the sunsets you can watch from the pool, beer in hand are amazing

Really convenient for the dive centres on Mae Haad”
Koh Tao Regal is great if you are looking for something just above budget range. It looks like there were plans for this to be a much grander hotel, but possible the money ran out. However, the rooms are nicely appointed, they are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are big, with rain showers, and all rooms have a balcony/terrace and a sea view. (Some are more oblique than others). The staff are friendly, but you will find them all sitting together and watching Thai soaps on the sofas in the lobby when it is quiet - sometimes it is difficult to pull them away to come and sort your needs out. Rooms all have TV and tea/coffee making facilities, and free bottles of water. There is no telephone or room service, although there is a nice spa and a good pool. It is close to the pier without having the fumes or noise, and there is a pick up service from the pier to the hotel. It also has it's own access to the beach, which is great. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable but basic hotel, this is a great option, however, if you are looking for a more luxurious stay, then look elsewhere. 5 mins walk along the beach to Mae Haad and dive shops - 8 to pier. 10 -55 mins walk to Sairee Beach and Nightlife.

Lovely setting around pool, quiter end of town”
We had a ground floor pool side room which was great, the pool was a bit cool mainly due to slightly overcast weather and losing the sun mid afternoon. However there are 3 pools together and the middle one was good for doing laps so temperature didn't matter. Deeper pool often used by dive school but not to the extent it felt restrictive. 3rd pool was good for smaller kids. Our 7 yr old found it a bit cold for just splashing around in, the sea was warmer so tended to paddle more there. However the pool was lovely to sit around and have as a fcous. Most other resorts didn't have one and it made a difference to the feel. The Regal is in Mae Haad which is where the ferry comes in. A short 5 min walk into the village along the beach was nice and far enough out not to be noisy. It was also a nice walk up to the Sairee beach end, a bit longer maybe 15-30 mins depending on how far up you go, but to be honest it is such a nice stroll it made a nice part ofthe evening. Sairee is defintely more busy and noisier, although there are quiter sections. Loads of restaurants to choose from with various Thai and international food. Great smoothies and juices and rotee stalls at regular intervals.

Helpful staff, free taxi, large room, everything OK”
There is no elevator, but the staff will take your luggage up to your room and down. There is a free taxi/shuttle to the pier. I was on a dive trip and this was a 5 minute walk to the dive shop. Restaurants are handy. Everything is walkable. Staff is friendly, understanding and smiles, not every hotel is like that at Koh Tao. No noise problems. Definitely recommend.

Very good mid-level option”
Great for diving, nice pool, good ocean views, nice friendly staff. 7 minute walk to Sairee Beach and the dive shops around there. 8 minute walk to Mae Haad Pier. There is a short but very steep hill at the entrance. They have a shuttle service. Bed was comfortable, Aircon worked OK. Plenty of room, passable wifi.

great location good pool area on the quiet beach ”
Our stay at Koh Tao Reagal resort was very enjoyable,First of all my girlfriend and i had 4 days together before her sister and partner joined us for 4 days,Ths first 4 days we spent sunbathing by the pool and dining mainly at the restaurant ,the food is very good and price is fair,The hotel is in the quiet part of the main stretch and can easily walk to ferry along the beach .The pool area is great but can get over run by divers on the occasion for a few hours but it was fine for us,The next four days we exployed the island on 125 scooters was great but would recommend some expierience at riding and to take care, had to abort a couple of missions but found some gems. all in all good value for money would stay again

Good price and location”
For the relatively inexpensive cost ($57 USD) we wish we hadn't stayed at a more expensive villa for the two nights we first got to Koh Tao. This hotel is close to the pier (5 min. walk or tuk tuk ride) and a 10 min. walk to Sairee Beach. We stayed here while scuba diving at Crystal Reef, which was only two buildings down. The air con was great and the room very clean. During the day the halls look messy when the cleaning staff is maintaining rooms, but everything is picked up by the evening. The hotel's food wasn't great, and it was overpriced compared to many other restaurants nearby. The pool's view is beautiful, just go early if you want to snag a lounge chair! Would definitely stay here again!

Koh Tao Regal Resort”
the regal resort is definately value for the money. the room is big as is the bathroom. the swimming pool is very large and clean.the hotel is a short walk (along the beach) to the main ferry pier and many restaurants. i recommend renting a scooter and touring around but everything is really within walking distance. highly recommend dolce vita restaurant. i had the home-made fettucini and it was excellent as was the tiramisu. it is one block up from the main pier. also recommend barracda restaurant in sai ree. it is a short and pleasant walk from the hotel. try the ribs, they are very good. highly recommend this hotel.

Long weekend stay in Koh Tao”
Nicely located hotel between the core of Koh Tao and Sairee Beach, good breakfast and dinners at the hotel resturant. 3 Nice swimming pools with clear blue water, pool get vacuumcleaned every morning. Some construction noise after 7 am because the resort is expanding, excisting corridors and rooms needs with time refurbishing. Area is safe for families With small children too, easy to keep control over the kids, the beach is naturally cut of in one end by a rock. Local police station is neighbour just above the hotel, safe Place then. All in all a good value for money in this location i feel for both couples and families.

Great location, nice room, everything we needed”
We booked for 4 nights and ended up staying 8! The room was a great size which is important for us as we both need to get work done while holidaying too. Never felt cramped or on top of each other. Staff are very helpful, pools are nice, only thing we didn't try was the food because there is so much great food to try so close by. We found finding somewhere to stay on Koh Tao difficult (going on reviews) because every place has such conflicting reviews, but we lucked out by choosing this place. Highly recommend!

Comfortable hotel”
Clean hotel with comfortable beds. Wi-fi slow... Nice location overlooking either nice pool or the sea. Staff pretty much doesn't like tourists, and who can blame them on Koh Tao... Nice staff in the restaurants though. The hotel is located on a walking distance from the pier (7 minutes if you walk along the beach), so watch out for being ripped off my taxis, which I did. It's also on walking distance from all the partying. However, it's pretty noisy at nights, especially since most room doors need to be slammed to close. Take earplugs, and you'll be fine :)
