Klong Dao Beach hotels & places to stay

Me and my wife were in our honeymoon so we chose the Deluxe Pool Access Room and it was really fantastic! The room was big, comfortable and quiet. But for a 5 star resort, I wasn't expecting that they doesn't have a flat TV or card keys to enter the room, anyway, it wasn't a big deal for us, just an opinion as a frequent traveller. The room's pool was very quiet, clean, private and great water temperature! We also tried the bigger public pool that's awesome, with a great cocktail bar! The Cliff Restaurant is near the pool and serves simple meals at acceptable prices. Due to the location, we need to have a good physical preparation to get to the Peak Restaurant where they serve the great breakfast buffet! But normally the staff gives everyone a lift to anywhere inside the resort if they pass by with their cars. From the Cliff, you have access directly to the private beach that is fantastic! You have also a pathway that leads you to the Klong Dao Beach, another great and calm beach! There are 4 different hours for the free ride from the hotel to the Saladan Town, and back. We normally get the ride to the town for dinner and shopping and come back to the hotel by Tuk Tuk (paying around 40-50 bahts) so we didn't have the stress of the time limit. They have tourist desk that informs you about all the activities offers and where you can buy the tour packages. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although most of them doesn't speak english well.

We stayed here for 4 nights in May (low season) and scored a bargain with the price for a deluxe bungalow ($35AUD) per night including an excellent breakfast. The bungalows are simple, small but perfect for what we required. Comfy bed, window seat, air conditioner, tv, and large bathroom, and patio. They are clean and also each have an in-room safe. The resort is set away from the street, about a 3 minute walk up to the road, but they resort has a tuk tuk to drive you up if need be. The grounds are kept immaculate and the staff are lovely, always smiling and saying hello. The location is right on Klong Dao Beach which is perfect to stroll along any time of day. Also a great location to catch the sunset. We only ate in the restaurant for the breakfast buffet, which was included in the price of our stay. Lots of options and fresh ingredients. The pool was lovely and refreshing after a day of wandering the island, and finishing the 4 island snorkelling tour. Lots of sun beds and shelters. I highly recommend Golden Bay Cottage and will be back.

Absolutely enjoyable stay at this beautiful resort. The Superior room was clean and spacious, facing swimming pool and lovely garden. There are 2 huge swimming pools, one near the entrance, the other near the beach. Plenty of sun chairs at pool and beach areas. Many restaurants, bars, massages, bike rental and convenient stores next to resort. Klong Dao beach is the best beach in Koh Lanta in my opinion, powdery sand no rubbish and no rocks unlike the neighbouring beaches full of sharp corals, rocks and rubbish. The beach is shallow but deep enough for safe swimming. The owner is friendly, the staffs are helpful and courteous although some of them don’t speak good English but again you are in Thailand. Breakfast was ok. Go to Bambie’s for THB100 lunch special 12-3pm, 2mins away from right side of the beach. The food was very good and authentic. Would definitely recommend this resort and will definitely return if here again. Stay in the Deluxe Villa if possible they are beautiful.

This was the first time for me and I'm quite sure I'll be back. This is the nicest hotel/resort I've had the pleasure of experiencing in about 20 years of visiting Thailand! The hotel manager, Conny, is very present and visible and very effusive with his friendly concern. The staff echoes this concern and go out of their way to greet everyone and offer smiling faces with an eagerness to help in any way they can. The room I had was very very comfortable, the bed being one of the most comfortable ones I've ever had in Thailand! The hotel location is picture perfect on Klong Dao Beach. It's also an easy enough walk to the pier area if one so chooses or there are bikes to rent for only 50 baht a day. The wifi signal and service of the hotel was excellent--a definite improvement on my previous visits to Koh Lanta. My only disappointment was that I booked only a four night stay! Next time I'll be sure to budget at least a week long stay!

We were backpacking for three weeks in Thailand and this is the place we want to go back to! The hotel is situated right on the beach of Koh Klong Dao which is a very nice beach to visit. When we visited by the end of November it was very calm and peaceful. The hotel environment is nice and they have a nice pool. We had booked a fairly cheap standardroom, which was surprisingly well equipped, both fan and AC. The cleaning was good too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was good and the prices the best on our trip.

The hotel is really nice. I don't understand the bad reviews it has from some people. The room is very spacous. Nice comfortable big bed, towels for the beach, water bottles which you get daily. Nice big breakfast with white and brown toast, eggs, noodles, rices, pancakes, potatoes, fruits, vegetables, different meats. etc. really nice selection. The hotel has two pools, a gym (little bid old) and it's right at the beach. The beach is really long and has a lot of different restaurants. There are mostly familiys there. The water is relatively shallow. We went to other beaches where the water was deeper and nicer to swim. But I am sure for kids and so this beach is great. The staff in the hotel was really really friendly. Overall the stay was great and I really can't mention one single thing which was not nice (try the food at the Bamboo restaurant further up at the beach, really nice! (even the pasta).

I have stayed in some of the nicest hotels in the world and I have to say that my stay at Bambies had service that rivals the most luxurious of hotels. I loved this hotel from the quality food to the perfect beach setting. The bungalows are simple but elegant. If you are looking for a true escape this is it. I stayed for two extra days because I couldn't pull myself away. I felt at home the moment I got here.... it isn't corporate or impersonal or sterile, it's warm and cozy and they want you to feel at home. It's hard to say goodbye to such a fantastic place. I would have paid much more! Bambie is the queen of service and I won't forget how she made me dinner when the kitchen was closed and she could tell I was hungry and made sure I got coffee before I checked out! This place may be far from my home, but it's nice that I'm leaving and feel like there's a home in Thailand I can come back to!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lanta for Rest hotel, from the moment we were greeted with a smile, fresh fruit and cold drinks by the owners when we checked in. The owners really care for there guests and continue to show this with gentle care in presentation of the fresh breakfast, staff service and accomodation. Beautiful view from the roof top pool as well as an elegant garden pool with streaming water feature. English cable channels (so many channels), fast wifi, very modern interiors. Great location as VERY close to Klong Dao beach (5min walk). I highly recommend LANTA FOR REST HOTEL. A+++++++++. We as a family were very satisfied and wish the owners the very best with there hotel business and wish all hotels meet Lanta for Rest's exceptional high standards. Kob Koon Karp. :)

+: -very nice stuff, everybody is hard working and always smiling -very clean -a nice breakfast - very peaceful, great for relaxing and for families -nice food for reasonable prices -a lovely garden with a LOT OF shadow to hide from the sun ( very positive!), nice trees - great for snorkeling, as there is a coral reef few meters from the beach, many different kinds of fish to been seen - they had a really lovely New Year’s Eve party -: A location of the resort is from the very beginning of Klong Dao beach, which means it is quiet, but quite fareaway from anything ( but the resort provides a free tuk tuk lift to Saladan three times a day) - the beach is nothing special, there is a huge low tide, very little waves, it looks more like a lake than a sea - the bungalows are out dated ( very clean though!), we had a bad smell of mold in our (it disappered after few hours of AC), but quite big - so is the swimming pool, but it is nice A Big thanks to the staff!

Ocean View Resort was perfect, I was looking for a place close to the beach and a basic place to stay (clean room, working bathroom, good breakfast, and location to beach at a no-frills price) to explore Koh Lanta on scooter, and I got exactly what was needed. The only problem was my last minute reservation change on Agoda was not communicated to the hotel, so when I showed up, they did not have my reservation. I had the Agoda confirmation email and that help get me in the door. I got the Ocean View A/C 2nd floor view with an awesome balcony. The internet worked well, being right on the beach was perfect: Morning walk on the beach to do some SUP in the morning, and get on the scooter in the afternoon to explore the little roads on the island. The hotel is also along the main North-South road and that makes it very convenient to get to 7-11 and other markets. I really like Klong Dao Beach, not too crowded, nice long beach, restaurants along the way, and water sports available. I stayed for 3 nights and it was well worth it and will likely go back in my next trip to the area

On my arrival i am the only guest there so got a free upgrade and there after few guest came in after the next day. Located at Klong Dao Beach, Lanta Summer house offers a homely accommodation with private terraces and cable TV, Fridge and simple decorated room. Lanta House is approximately a 10-minute drive from Saladan Pier and few mins with bike to get out there for food, shopping, local eatery and restaurants(Hotel restaurant closed due till low season. Beach front just 35 meters from my room and can simply dip in the water but not good to swim now as THE WAVE IS A LITTLE ROUGH(Don't get to far out the sea beware of jelly fish). Bungalows offer both air conditioning n fan with private bathrooms come with hot shower facilities(but water is so low pressure and heater not working so well) and toiletries. Guests can sun bathe on the hotel’s terrace or relax by the small pool(but i didn't manage to use it as they are changing water for the coming high season.) Acceptable, except i think is time for them to upgrade the room and specially the toilet is too old. other wise this place is good, cos the surrounding is quiet and nice helper owner and staff. (My bike was ready to ride just infront of my room) Nice service! BTW WIFI is off and on at times but no a big deal to me!

First impressions not so great Staff are pleasant and try hard to communicate with everyone The property is really tired & could use a lot of small Touches to improve Our rooms were garden view good size, clean,air & fridge works well Bathroom vanity had a huge hole in the front, panel obviously missing Chairs on balcony old paint peeling & cushions had no covers straight foam that you sit on so I wrapped mine in a towel First bungalow you see every time you walk to the beach has been converted as some type of storage & staff accommodations on the patio are couple of baby cribs sheets towels & bananas water bottles very strange and the adjoining room is rented to tourist..not appealing Breakfast is satisfactory. .fruit is wonderful & the breakfast staff are very nice Women who is on the reception desk is also pleasant and helpful with tours & transportation The beach however is disgusting which is too bad cause a little cleanup would make the beach as nice as the other properties We were there 5 days the beach was raked the garbage put in piles but never picked up there were bottles of varies sizes all over the beach clothing towels & all kinds of garbage washing up on this beach. The rest of Klong Dao lovely to walk etc good rest & bars Again banana resort could be lovely with some help

Perfectly located at the best part of klong Dao beach and close to Sala Dan. The fantastic staff took great care of us with genuine personal interest- very service minded while at the same time maintaining a very relaxed atmosphere. Good pool area with shaded spaces - great with small childre - and splendid views of the besch and the Andaman Sea. We are already planning to come back again next year :-)

Had the best time - Rola at reception is the most loving person and looks after guests better than anywhere I’ve ever stayed. Book everything through her. She genuinely gets cheaper prices. The accom is fantastic. Very comfortable and clean. Bed was amazing. Highly recommend staying here. I originally came for two nights and stayed for 6. Indian Bar Infront on the beach is also the best bar on the beach with incredibly friendly staff with nightly fire shows just after sunset. 10/10. Extremely good value for money

we really enjoyed our stay at the ananda lanta. rooms were large, clean, and serviced daily. bed was most comfortable we've had on our trip! the spot was a 5 minute walk across the road to klong dao beach as well as restaurants that the beach had to offer. the pool was large with a view of the sunset and had many beach chairs. the staff were also friendly and helpful with booking trips, as well as reasonable with price when we decided to stay an extra night. breakfast was buffet style with an omelette station. only downfall was that wifi was not included and cost 60 baht per hour.. otherwise great place to stay!

We stay at DR Lanta for almost 3 weeks in the very low season. It was wonderful. Both pools have a kid pool that was great for our 3 year old. The beach is wonderful for people with little kids. It's calm and shallow. It's a short ride in a tuktuk or walk up the beach into Saladan. There's a great German bakery within walking distance. There's a cooking school right on the beach to the south of the hotel where you can learn to make great Thai food. DR Lanta isn't as fancy as the hotel next door, but the service is much better.

The room is so clean. We like the pool as the salt water and really clean. The breakfast is American breakfast but they cooked it fresh and testy. The owner and all staff is so friendly. The resort located in Klong Dao beach, every room you can go up to the roof top to see the beautiful ocean view. And location is so convenient, you can walk 5 mins to reach the beach , 7-11 and the restaurant also just 2.5 km. to Saladan town for night market. If you love the quiet and peaceful place to relax and warm place to stay in Koh Lanta. I recommended this place.

The staff was excellent as my wife was ill and they were very quick when I asked if a doctor could come to the hotel to see her they told me they would drive us to the clinic ASAP. They did this as part of their attentive service as the doctors office was about 4 kilometres away. They also have a very good breakfast and cook eggs to order for you daily, real bacon, lots of fruit, juices and fresh breads. We walked about 700 metres to the beach that faces where the boat channel was and laced on it one day as well as walking another 300 to 400 metres further to Klong Dao beach. If the walk is too far it is only a 50 baht Tuk Tuk ride back as all the Tuk tuks and vehicles have to use this road to leave the beach to get back onto the main north south highway on the island. Terrific location for dining as it is about 200 metres to the downtown area of shops and restaurants as we dined most evenings on the restaurants along the water.mthe pool on the 4 th floor had a shallow side for children and the building offers a view as it is the tallest building probably on the island. Great value for the money. We were,also upgrades to a deluxe room at check in and had a balcony and much larger space.

Our stay at the Lanta Mermaid Boutique House Hotel, at Klong Dao Beach was wonderful on this beautiful island of Koh Lanta. My wife & I, plus our 2 lovely Swedish friends, stayed in adjoining rooms as requested when we booked. As the hotel is very new, its in fine condition, with lovely fittings, and furnishings throughout. We ate a yummy breakfast each morning, which was a refreshing start to the day. The owners were very helpful with suggestions, ideas, maps etc for our stay. The owners also have a beautiful black dog and cute cat which are often around outside, so give them a little cuddle :) We stayed for 2 nights, and enjoyed our strolls along the nearby Klong Dao Beach, swimming in the beautiful warm water, and eating awesome food at some of the many beach front restaurants, which all light up at night like a lovely fairyland. There is a handy shower at the front of the hotel to rinse off sand from the beach too.We also explored the island and enjoyed shopping at the nearby markets and village shops. I highly recommend this small, intermit, and value for money hotel, if you come to Koh Lanta, an island not yet too overdeveloped, with a lovely village style atmosphere, amazing beaches, and warm, friendly locals.

The hotel are located at the north part of Klong Dao which is a bit calmer then the rest of the beach. I think hotel room was clean and nice. But there was some cockroaches in the bathroom, some of them quite big. We got some spray from the reception that we used, then it was a bit better. There was no kettle at the room so we had to go to the reception to get hot water. Some bricks in the pool was falling of the walls and it didn't felt like the staff cared so much about the facility.

This place is highly recommended. First of all, the location is so good. 5 minutes walk to Klong Dao beach, Seven Eleven is the 1-minute walk. Staff is so friendly and helpful. You can book transfer, tours here with a much better price. You booked the garden view room. The room is so much better compared to what we paid. Room is big, bed is big and comfortable. We also had an extra small bed, it may be for a kid.

We stayed at Laguna Beach Club for one night after returning from Koh Lipe. The staff were very friendly and great with our 2.5-year-old daughter. Having stayed down on Klong Nin Beach for one week prior to our Koh Lipe visit, I must say the location of Laguna Beach Club disappointed us a bit as Klong Dao beach is nowhere near as nice as Klong Nin. In saying that we chose it for it's close proximity to the ferry and for that it is fantastic. The rooms are quite dark, but otherwise fine in typical 3-star Thai style. I'd say this is a pretty good hotel for people on a budget, especially families. The water in the pool is a bit murky (the water looks clean but isn't entirely clear) and the lovely waterfall shown in the pictures is not working, but otherwise the pool is OK and of a decent size. The on-site massage ladies are very friendly and the massage is good. Unfortunately the resort doesn't offer meals, which we would have liked for convenience, but there are plenty of places just a short stroll down the beach. Breakfast can be arranged by purchasing coupons from reception the day before, which we did as we were leaving early. I wouldn't recommend it if you have time to go elsewhere, it was a rather meager serve. All in all though I would say this is a pretty good resort for families with young children, traveling on a budget.

Klong Dao Sunset Villa gave me a super-clean, air-conditioned room 75 metres (250 feet) from the beach. The room and people staying around me were quiet, so it was very relaxing and peaceful. It's a full-service place, with restaurant, massage service, a pharmacy and a mini-mart that has everything you need, all right there. Sunsets on the beach were beautiful, and it's less than a two-minute stroll up to the main street serving Koh Lanta's Klong Dao Beach area. The staff at Sunset Villa can arrange--on the spot--any tour or transportation you need. Day trip to Koh Phi Phi, transfer to Phuket airport, or a motorbike rental. They can take care of it all right there. One thing I really liked is that the front of my room -- R2 -- was in shade through the daytime, so when direct sun on the beach got to be too much, I could retreat just that 75 metres back to my room, sit outside in the shade, or if I felt like it, step into cool comfort for a little siesta. I happily recommend this spot.

Maya Ko Lanta was our family's choice for the second year running. Perfect pool right next to the beach, very friendly and attentive staff, a good breakfast, comfortable clean room with a great shower and bathroom, and nicely situated at the south end of Klong Dao beach. With two kids, ages 8 and 12, the deluxe room, poolside, was a good choice, but we needed two extra beds for a good night's sleep. The posted price for extra beds is an outrageous. We bargained hard and paid a fraction of that amount, so I would recommend doing the same if you're traveling with a family.
