Great location, basic services”

We loved the location because we were near everything, and yet it was quiet (no night life noise). Kaibae Hut itself is super simple, no frills, family-friendly, perfect for us. But if you want some frills, you can eat at any adjacent hotel, walk (2-5minutes) to loads of services like restaurants, shopping, beach-side massage, elephant trekking, white sand beach, and of course boat tours for snorkeling right on-site. Staff are a shy and speak very little English, but you can manage just fine with some creativity. We loved the Kaibae area.

Perfect location, great rooms”

Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff was very helpful with booking day trips. The huts are in good condition and kept clean. Very comfortable. It's not really right on the beach, but you can walk three minutes and be right on the beach. Very close to many restaurants and bars. The hotel breakfast was that not great. There are many beach dogs that roam around the area. They are all really friendly and will let you pet and play with them, but if you are afraid of/don't like dogs, then beware.

family building sensibly priced good beach side lo”

Worthy; was able to make a last minute week long booking over busy new years holidays for 3 kids & wife. Kai Bae Hut Family Building reasonably priced, offered nice clean room, two big queen size beds, only 20 meters from delightful beach, tasty vegetable omelets every morning. Kids had a blast swimming with elephants on the shoreline and playing in the white sand, wife enjoyed air con, soaps operas and thai news on TV. All the best, Ronny G USA

Great Location”

I stayed in the hotel part of this resort, it seemed the huts were nicer - so maybe choose those if you have a little more money to spend. The room that I was given was on the bottom floor and faced an area where the workers there prepared their own food outside. There was no privacy, people were walking around right outside my window. They were reluctantly accomodating and moved me to a different room on the second floor which was better (it had a balcony) but I feel "garden view" is deceiving. The rooms in the hotel are outdated, it was clean when I checked in but my room was not cleaned once during my whole stay of 5 days (not sure if this was something I needed to request). The location is great though, walking distance to many restaurants both on the main road and on the beach.

Easy, Cosy, Budget-friendly”

Good place to stay right on the beach/water of Kaibae Beach on Koh Chang. Fun. Budget-friendly. Staff are very helpful and accomodating - speak local language only.

Simple place and comfortable”

Place has its own beach area, breakfast is good if not ok. Staff are friendly, did not have tough time with them. Downside: Quite far from Koh Chang Ferry prier about 16kms. Beach is rocky so we decided to go for island trip: even more rockyer. Parking is difficult, visitors just park anywhere. Our stay was ok but probably wont return.

great location, you cannot ask for much better”

The hotel room was really comfortable. It was spacious and the shower was separated from the toilet. A lot of activities were available near the hotel was nearly on the beach. The breakfast was included and there was lots to choose from. Down sides: we arrived late in the evening and cannot locate the front desk. No lights, the person in charge was in a hurry to leave and we almost didn't get our key. Staff doesn't speak English very well.

I enjoyed my stay at Kaibae Hut Resort. The hotel is on the beach and the sunset is great to look at everyday.

Nice hotel ”

This hotel had nicely kept lawns and gardens with beautiful trees and flowers. The views from the restaurant area were very pretty. The rooms were quite nice and clean. The included breakfast was buffet style which had a reasonable variety of decent food. Unfortunately, our stay was tarnished by dealings with associated businesses of the hotel. The transportation company on the grounds and sharing the same name deliberately lied and arranged transportation which was shared rather than private even though I was willing to pay more to ensure private and comfortable travel. We also had difficulty with an employee renting her private motorbike, although at the time of renting we were led to believe it was from the hotel. In general, staying at the hotel was nice but all other business should be conducted elsewhere on the island.

Near the night life but no beach.”

As a solo traveller, they put me in the oldest hut, which backed onto a building site, 50 metres from the ocean. However, when I complained, I was immediately moved to a large room/chalet, next to the restaurant at the seas front. There is no beach here as such, just a promenade but the sunset view is great! I found the staff very helpful. The complex has many opportunities for boat trips etc with their own contingent of private speed boats etc. There are many places nearby for good dining/nightlife...

the hotel isn't perfect, but satisfied us”

this hotel isnt't perfect itself, but sutisfied our base requirements: 1. good working air conditioner 2. suitable rooms (hotwater, normal wc) 3. nice breakfast (omlette, sausages,vegetables,flakes, watermelons, pineapples, some thai food)- not gourmet, but tasty and you won't be hungry. they have also dinner a la carte, which is good and very cheap. 4. good beach just a few steps away for those, who don't want to walk long or take a bike or a taxi 5. quiet area: you can sleep good in the night, but the main road is a 5 min by walk, where you have 7/11 supermarket, bodyworks massage (very clean in comparsion with others and neatly dressed staff), shops, restaurants,bars, drugstore - good infrastructure. also you can swim with small elephants at the beach and sit in a cosy pavillions near the sea at night. there is a massage on the beach based on nearby hotel. our dislikes: 1. the room was quiet dusty and i prefered not to store clothes in the dresser, because it smelled like something old inside 2. garden view was just 3 m and then big blue water tanks from the nearest hotel (it didnt bother us, just in case) 3. room was cleaned only when i asked and not everyday 4. the towels and bed linen were quiet old and shabby 5. internet only on reception (maybe also in bungalows)and sometimes very slow and bad working. 6. waterpipe in toilet leaked a little bit and nobody repaired it (for me it was also uncritical so i didnt reported about that) 7. one day i found a cockroach in the room, fortunately only once, so i give a chance, that it happened because we were close to nature:) resume: the hotel has a good location and you can feel comfortable there, if you don't pay a lot of attention on hotel itself, but more on island

Very good”

Great for location. Room wasn’t as furnished as shown in the picture. Wifi didn’t connect when we were in our room, probably because we were at the very corner of the resort. First set of brown towels didn’t absorb water and were useless, but second set of white towels did. Very basic amenities. Staff were nice, and as helpful as they could be. Beach is amazing, not too busy but still popular. May consider staying again, but personally might spend more money on a nicer place.

Good stay ”

Great location, very close to the beach anf restaurants, yet quiet at night. We had a good size double room. Furniture was dated but we didn't mind. Cleanliness fine, but not perfect. Unfortunately after cleaning the staff leaves all windows and doors open for the floors to dry. So we had to kill 20 mosquitos the first day. Breakfast was good for Thai standards. Overall the whole resort could use a little love, but for 1200 Baht per night and a short stay it was totally fine.

big, average and impersonal resort”

This hotel served our purposes since it is well located in the south-central stretch of Kai Bae town and only a few minutes walk to decent beaches. That said, it has a pretty uninspiring layout and the staff are almost comically unconcerned with the welfare or guests. One gets the feeling that the real business here is the speedboats that they rent for snorkeling and trips to other islands. (Get ready to watch and listen to tractors dragging boats to the landing while eating your breakfast.) They also have a large event hall. This was occupied by large groups of Thais during 2 of our 5 nights for karaoke parties, etc. One of these nights, the party continued until dawn on the porches of bungalows. This upset a number of the other guests, but we were not bothered much since our newer bungalow was quite soundproof. If you want a convenient location, and don't have high expectations of charm or attention, this place is good enough I suppose.

Ok for a night before or after a trip to Koh Mak”

We stayed for 1 night after coming from the island of Koh Mak so we could get an early start back to Bangkok. We did not get a hut we got the hotel part, room was ok for 1 night, great location and close to bars and shops.

Great location but poor staff performance”

If you don't mind lack of service and want a good location by the beach, then this resort offers value for money. Family room building was right by the beach and of a good size with 2 king size beds. Wish they had a swimming pool, though. Great to have the Meechai Elephant Camp right opposite the entrance to the resort. Baby elephants came to swim and play in the sea with the guests who booked it. Also good to have 7/11 and restaurants just 5 min walk from the room. Overall it was a satisfying and enjoyable stay.

Good Location But Not a 3 Star Place”

When we arrived we had to wait for our room to be ready and when we were brought to a bungalow were instantly disappointed. It was not representative of any pictures we saw on Agoda. It was a traditional worn out bamboo hut with old A/C and straw door that did not seem overly safe. After complaining and show the pictures that were on Agoda they did move us to a newer bungalow (cement) however the lock on the door had been "broken" so many times that it didnt work. Since I had brought a laptop to work while I was on holiday I really did not feel comfortable leaving anything in that place so we again complained. After the second complaint they gave us a much nicer place that had a lock that worked. I really do not like complaining but locks shouldn't be optional. The Bungalow that we did end up staying in is in the "A" series and was basic Thai bungalow with ok A/C and only a minor ant problem. The beds were a horrible even by Thai standards, bed 1 was rock hard, thats usual but bed 2 was overly springy with sharp springs sticking out. We had to laugh at our luck... Now the place wasnt all bad but I believe their pictures promote a much nicer/cleaner place than it is. Breakfast was ok, its on a nice beach which is fairly quiet and they are close to an elephant spot so baby elephants are always walking by all day long. They are 5 minute walk to 7-11 and the town of Kai Bae.

Simple, good location”

Location just off the beach is good and next to high street, beach huts are simple and basic but relaxing Staff need prompting to clean your bungalow, breakfast is a waste of time pretty poor and very busy , only a 2 hour window 7.30 till 9.30 in which to get up and attend! And i didnt most of the time it was a rugby scrum down, queuing for basics. Best pay 50 baht and go to the cafe 20 yards away.

OK for price but probably not stay here again”

It was good enough for the price but the staff was inattentive and our rooms were only cleaned if we asked them to clean them. We arrived in the night in the rain. Upon waking the first day we walked out to a dead dog on the sidewalk. We found that our water was only scorching hot or very cold - they came to fix it twice and it was better but we still had very little control over the temperature. The air conditioning worked very well and it was nice and quiet. We were in the back of the complex and although they tried to fix the internet, we never could get it in our room all 10 days of our stay. One of the other rooms we rented for our children did get internet in one corner. If you want internet here, stay near the beach. It will be louder and busier but you will have internet. The restaurant was inexpensive and good. Breakfast included was very nice. I will most likely choose another place next time we visit even if it is a bit more money. This beach is the best though for families - very quiet and no unclothed people.
