I always start my reviews with the cons then the pros. So here goes... The toilet doesn’t have a bidet. A bummer especially if you’re used to the magical qualities of a Japanese toilet with a bidet. However, if it’s your first time in Japan then you won’t miss it. Yet. There were no complimentary toothbrushes and toothpastes but there is a convenience store about 50 to 60 meters away in case you forgot to bring your own oral hygiene essentials. The walls might be a bit thin as we could hear someone being loud. It was not too bothersome as to complain the noise and he or she stopped after a few minutes. You must leave your shoes in the shoe cabinet before entering the hostel. Guests are provided with indoor slippers to use while inside the hostel. We were greeted warmly and they even allowed us to leave our luggage in their office since we arrived four to five hours early at the hostel. The private room we rented was adequate for a family of two adults and a six year-old. There are some space for one large luggage but don’t expect to fully open it flat. The room is clean and well-lighted. No unusual odor or smell. The bathroom is also adequate but don’t expect two adults to be able to take a shower at the same time. We were provided with body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. If you need to wash your clothes, you can use the washing machine and the dryer for ¥500. It is located on the same floor as the receptionist, the lobby and the kitchen are located. There are rental bikes and umbrellas in case you may need them. There are a lot of places to eat in the area. One of them is an Indian place just at the corner. There’s also a great teppanyaki place called Maruaki Hida Takayama a couple of corners to the East. Don’t forget to check out Jakson Curry and Coffee as well. The old district is also a walking distance from the hostel. A great stay”
We stayed 3 nights in the Japanese styled ensuite room. It was quiet, comfortable and cosy. We rented pyjamas for only ¥100 a set. Saved us the trouble of packing our own. As we stayed for more than a night, we were given complimentary one time use of laundry. The usual cost was ¥300 for washer and dryer. Very reasonable. The kitchen was well equipped. A guest was cooking dinner (frying vegetables, not just instant noodle) on our first night and they also tried using the ice shaving machine to make ice shaving. It was a fun place to stay. The hostel was very well maintained. Very clean and organised. The staff can speak relatively fluent English and are helpful to provide information. They also helped to arrange for our luggage to be transferred to our accommodation in Shinjuku as we were going hiking at Kamikochi after Takayama. It was a great experience staying at K's House.

When we arrived k house it was too early for check in, the staff keep our bags for free. then we came back after 15:00,their staff was so friendly and helpful.it was a really warm welcome for us.She gave us any information that we might need. The lobby is so beautiful with traditional atmosphere,kitchen Is very clean and organized,you don’t need to wait for cook when a kitchen has two sinks,two ovens and two fridges. The bed is very comfy with “real” mattress,I had really good sleep there. I would highly recommend k house for travelers who has budget but also wanna have a good stay.👍👍👍

Near the station, clean, with free coffe and tea, nice staff, you can cook your own food in their kitchen. 15mins walk to supermarket. the elevator and the reception is in the second floor though so you have to carry your luggage to the reception. We still recommend staying here. We will definitely stay here again when we come back in Takayama.

There are a few K's Houses in Takayama, but Oasis met our expectation almost straight on. I book K's House from 20 to 21 December for the Japanase style room, it was mid-winter. Although K's is a hostel, options like in room bathroom is available. The room was spacious and K's was the only establishment I can find that accepts our family of 5 in 1 room. Kitchen and common area is always clean and everyone who uses it played their part in keeping it clean.. wonderful. The room and bathroom was clean and spacious with heating that we can sleep very well on the futon. Right next door is a Nepalese HALAL restaurant (seems to be the only halal restaurant around), pretty much the only place we went to eat. It has a wonderful roof-top open area where you can have small meals in the late morning, a recommended place to check out. This establishments has price, location and surrounding attraction for short-term visitors .

K‘s Houses are a perfect choice!”
Second time in a K‘s house (before Kanazawa) and again very satisfied. Staff is super friendly and helpful, everything is clean, common area is cozy and good for socializing, kitchen is well-equipped, dorms are comfortable. All in all just perfect!

Well equipped kitchen”
The kitchen was one of the cleaner ones and well equipped. Free coffee and various flavors of tea. There is a lift but it only serves the 2nd to top floor. Within 5mins walk from the interchange and has a few convinient stores nearby

Loveliest Hostel in Takayama”
We stayed at a few hostels across our 2month Japan backpack and this was the best place among all the backpacker, private traditional capsule. its got a lot of japanese feels. we also stayed at Cup of Tea Hostel which was also great. K's has a nice homey feel. and super close to the station which made it super convenient to commute everywhere.

Superb stay”
The receptionist was super helpful. He even organized a bus ticket for me to Kyoto by finding it online and gave me all the information I needed. They also have a map marking all the restaurants and convenience store which is very handy and the shoe dryer is a life saver on a rainy day

very near the takayama train station and the Nohi Bus terminal. the tourist spots and Hida Beef restaurants are all within walking distance. The dorm bed is comfortable and there is ample space for the luggage.

Clean and nice hostel in great location close to Takayama JR Station. We were in the Japanese Tatami room with private bath. The bath is small but efficient. The shared kitchen is quite handy for breakfast.
