Best Resort to relax with family”

I have chosen and visited IDEAL BEACH Resort after reading the reviews online from the previous travelers and visitors. True to their reviews the resort is above the mark. PROS: 1. STAFF - The staff are really courteous and friendly and very helpful. Especially the staff at the restaurant helped me in handling my TWINS of 3 years old. 2. LOCATION: Best location by sea side 3. SAFETY: You have securities 24 hours, at each place, LAWN, BEACH, so you can even for for a MOON WALK :) 4. CLEANLINESS: The rooms particularly the TOILETS, BATH TUB are maintained very clean. Even a request of re clean after day 1 was promptly done. 5. FOOD: Break fast comes with the package. Lunch and Dinner has to be paid, which is little bit costly. Better plan on this. Cons: Actually no cons but for the sake of writing May seem a little costly but worthy A special thanks to the Management and Staff for making our visit memorable. Will try to visit again. Thank you.

Pleasantly surprised”

Being from Chennai, never thought of a beach side resort or Mahabalipuram as a place for vacation as it is hardly 1 hour from home. Though not all rooms have a beach view, beach is just few steps away and the arrangements on the beach(comfortable chairs and shelter) was very good. Nice to just sit on the beach and not having to worry about traffic on the way home was a huge relief. Location was the real 5* for the resort. I think I'll definitely go back again.

Relaxing stay by the beach with good food and hospitality”

‌Probably the best resort by the beach in Mahabalipuram ‌Resort is bang on the ECR road and easy to find. It has ample parking space. Check-in and Check-out was a breeze(we had booked via Agoda and card was already charged for the rooms). The resort has buggie(electrical) service to ferry guests within the resort. The Deluxe rooms are huge with a huge bathroom and a dressing area and a balcony with deck chair. The room service is prompt. The restaurant has a wide variety of options. - in menu. We tried salads, starters, Indian, Sri Lankan, pizza, sea Good, Asian dishes, desert and all of them were superb. However the pizza could have been thin crust. Buffet breakfast has huge spread of Indian and continental dishes and live counter. ‌ The pool is big enough and clean, with sufficient shaded seating arrangement .There is a separate kiddy pool as well. ‌The private beach has good seating option with shade, so that the sea view can be enjoyed even in scorching sun ot mild drizzle. Beautiful resort and good ambience. But over the years this place has become crowded with lot of day package people coming and using pools and private beach areas. Pros cleanliness Ambience Location service Cons AC . We stayed in a deluxe room (301) and definitely the Ac Probably one ton is not sufficient for a big room. With May chennai temperatures soaring, its really a problem. Lot of new buildings (compared to 5 years ago) and lot of day outing people cramping the place. Overall its a premier place to stay at a reasonable cost and I definitely recommend people to choose if you are visiting chennai

Amazing stay with excellent food and staff”

Stayed there on 21st Novemeber. First, the day starts with a beach view room. Enjoyed the private beach (very clean one <3 ), evening walk, morning sunrise and courtesy of the staff is really appreciable. On request, they provided a complimentary cake for birthday and cake cutting was done on the beachside. Breakfast was delicious too. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone looking for a stay in Mahabalipuram.

Wonderful Experience”

I'm a regular at IDEAL resort. This time post covid situation was very much beautifully handled at Ideal. The location of the resort near the coastline and near Mahabalipuram is one of the major attractions. They gave us a free Deluxe upgrade .The resort Bathrooms could use a bit of renovation. other than that everything's good.

Mind blowing ”

I can’t find any reason to stop myself from coming here again. It was a WOW experience for me. I’m so happy with my decision of staying at this property. The team at Ideal beach resort will go out of their way to meet your expectations and best part is they will always succeed. Better management needed”

Probably unfortunate that I visited over a long weekend and there was an event held at the resort on my only night here - which comprised of a group of maybe 40 people. Initially I didn't have an issue with that - this resort has a sprawling private beach with more than enough space for everyone. But as evening came and I decided to spend time at the pool instead, I found it impossible to be used as the group had also adjourned to the pool and were busy trying to dunk each other into the water. Mind you, there were families with kids nearby and I could see that they too felt very uncomfortable. As expected from India, the gender disparity among the locals is huge - as a result about 90% of this group were males. And as a female, I had brought and worn a bikini under the impression that I would be in a resort that is far from the eyes of the more conservative local population. Naturally, I didn't stay long by the pool... so definitely better human traffic control is needed. The resort is also a little further away from the main city, so you are pretty much forced to get a taxi car from the resort. It doesn't cost much (around US$3 per way to the city centre about 10 mins), but the same ride would cost maybe US$0.70 in Chennai with the Uber app. No food or drinks within walking distance too, so it's either a cab out or dine in. We had dinner (ala carte) at the restaurant here and it actually exceeded our expectations. Breakfast buffet is excellent too, so if anything you're good on food. However, I wished I was informed earlier that the resort was dry - no alcohol sold!! - so I could bring some in myself. If you're like me and appreciate a cold beer by the beach, definitely buy some before you arrive. Overall a decent hotel to stay in. The staff was tremendously welcoming and if not for the unpleasant incident of an overcrowded pool, the resort would have gotten a solid 5 stars. Sadly that was a real letdown.

Hotel is pretty nice! Their private beach is so good, enough space, sufficient chairs to relax on the beach! On the beach, you can play music and more, open until 9 PM for guests, you can get wet in beach until 6PM for your safety purpose its not allowed beyond 6PM. East shore, sun rise is good, you have be pretty early! I visited there on a full moon day, Amazing view from the private beach from 6PM to 9PM, so relaxed.Swimming pool is well maintained, really nice! Breakfast, very good with plenty of options, thats part of your package for 2 adults only! Kids under 5 eat free, over 5, may it its 250 Rs, not bad. Worth it. Food is very expensive for lunch and dinner, if you are there for one night, you may still afford if you are just a couple. For many nights, you may want to find the closest restaurant with less price for delicious food. Pallava statue area is just a 5 mins drive from here and you may visit one evening. Overall for the price you get, its very nice and worth it.

No more "Ideal" Beach - this Beach!”

"Ideal Beach Resort" used to stand for very good quality at an actually 'ideal' location on ECR with a truly ideal beach access. A place to stay and relax and enjoy the breeze, the beach, the palm trees, the hospitality. For many years. Those days seem gone. Whilst the tariffs were hiked and hiked during the recent years and at the same time the facilities weren't at the same pace (except the pool area, which still is spotless!), it now seems that the Management has decided "to walk the corporate route". Which may hike their profit but spoils the relax/privacy factor. So whilst the "Ford" day was possible a genuine incentive to those younger chaps, it was the ruin of the regularly paying guest in terms of privacy, pool access or beach enjoyment. Loud music from the event hall, hordes of youngsters swamping the pool (with accompanying volume) and a beach setting after 4:30pm that was a compilation of that. Sure, Saturday was better - so you better go then if you want it 'Ideal' again!

As our visit was for the first time. we really enjoyed our stay at the resort. everything was wonderful . they even provided usthe best view room. resort is a grt maintained with lots of greenery . super nice deal for the price offered and enjoyed the breakfast. wish to stay there more in the future. thank you

Good resort, value for money !”

Stayed for 3 days/2nights with family & friends, overall a comfortable stay and all credit goes to staff which is quite courteous. Location is great, just off ECR and on the beach. The room we stayed this time needs some maintenance esp. on electrical side. There is scope to add few more activities on the resort to keep guests occupied, however would be appreciated if those are part of std. package unlike steep charges resort have for some of the activities: 500INR for Moto-scooter for 10 mins, 500INR for bi-cycles for 1 hr. etc.. It might also be nice to have some MRP products priced more reasonably. Other than these, the main activities of beach & swim-pool are great/well maintained... overall good experience !

Good resort with exceptional staff”

We enjoyed a couple of days stay in this resort with young children. Overall the resort is maintained really well and the staff members are extremely helpful and a great asset to the resort. There is lack of kids play facilities but it was compensated by a clean and good swimming pool. It will be good if there was a kids games room and a small play area for kids. It will make it more attractive to guests who want to stay with kids. Overall really good value for money, we will be visiting again!

Expensive for what you get”

Over inflated price - additional cost for extra bed that we had to ask three times for, additional cost for child's breakfast, air conditioning kept breaking down and over 23 hours we had to ask 4 times for it to be repaired. The room was lovely, could do with more instructions for the touch key pads and more English TV channels. The pool was nice but the rules were not followed regarding appropriate clothing and many Indian men wearing full length tracksuit pants to swim in, who in in groups behaved in an ungentlemanly type manner, going under water to look at people. The large groups of men were off putting. The resort has a lovely layout and the rooms are lovely, the restaurant and housekeeping staff are so attentive. However bike hire was advertised which was no longer available, the gift shop appeared to be closed most of the time and when requesting a taxi to chennai, we were told this was not possible and to sort our own transport. Lovely staff but the hotel lacked quality.

Pricey but good”

Rooms booked through Agoda are not with sea view. And an upgrade gets charged more than the base rate one pays at Agoda. It's better to call the resort and book a room at the prices they quote, rather than book through Agoda, go there to be shown a bottom of the barrel room, and then upgrade. Another point to note : The hotel takes corporate bulk bookings, so if you are looking for a peace and quiet, by the beach, weekend with family, I wouldn't recommend this place.

... another semi-pleasant experience only, as - again - another Corporate Incentive event completely spoiled "rest & relaxation" on the beach (which is the Hotel's biggest asset!), this time on a Saturday, when even day guests seek the resort for a few hours pleasant get away from the city. Noise, extremely loud music, games, party-time on the beachfront for young corporates are all fine.... but are these things also in line with the understanding of a Beach Resorts for regular guests? Breakfast buffet was and still is 'great', matching the staff's attitude in general. So what to conclude???

We had a very comfortable stay at Ideal Beach . The rooms are large , clean and have all the basic facilities.Access to the beach is excellent. Staff are friendly and service oriented. . Food at the restaurant was excellent.

Ideal resort for a relaxing vacation. ”

Good location with private beach access and beach cafe restaurant. Big property with beautiful gardens. Enjoyed the sunrise at the beach and night when moon lit the sky.. Picturesque. Food was good but on the costlier side. Very costly beverages. A half litre coke of 40 INR costs 120 INR in the resort but thankfully there is a small general store outside the resort where you can get beverages and snacks. Rooms ok for the price but AC was blowing damp air which was not pleasant. Room had minibar which was empty. Room service was slow. Housekeeping was very good and prompt. Reception guys were welcoming and helped us with early check in. Menu had limited food options. Breakfast was very good with lot of options and food was tasty. Beach was clean and resort had good seating arrangements with shades to relax. Staff were courteous and happy to help.

Comfortable and lovely private beach”

Lovely resort and great food, especially important while travelling with young kids. Also staff was helpful. The beach is great but given the tides are quite strong and beach/sand area is limited, have to be a little more careful with young children.
