Our usual boutique hotel that we normally stay and on the Chao Phraya River was booked. I don't normally like to stay in really large hotels but I thought I would give the Shangri-La a try . My mother was traveling with us and so we had two rooms. And one of her favorite things is to sit in the morning and watch the traffic on the river and the big balcony at the Shangri-La hotel was perfect for this Another item very important to all of us is a great pool by the river but we can also see what's going on and feel the magic of it. The third thing that's very important to us is a great location. The Shangri-La hotel is located on the Chao Phraya river next to an express boat stop on the river and right under a BTS sky train stop. We got a corner room that had a balcony and a sofa with a window looking out onto the river as well as the window by the bathtub where you could take a bath with a view! We really enjoyed the room.

My only regret is having only one night stay. I had one amazing stay here in this hotel. The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Hotel is connected to a mall. Spent time in the mall and had my meals there. Food was delicious. Breakfast was very good. I requested for high floors and river view. The view is stunning, overlooking Chao Phraya river and Asiatique. Shuttle boat is available to Central Pier Saphan Taksin (20mins) and Asiatique (10mins) via Anantara Pier. Rooftop bar and restaurant is available too. Its a good hotel if ur looking to stay in to chill and relax during your trip. Might not be convenient for those who are looking to travel alot with BTS and MRT as the station is not within walking distance. Recommend to take Grab/Uber. The staff is friendly and helpful too! Our stay in this hotel is beyond words!. The hotel is located beside the chao phraya river and it has free shuttle boat all day everyday to transport you to another station so you can transfer to skytrain or to avail ferry cruises. Our room in the 18th floor is so spacious and everything you need is inside. We had breakfast everyday in our room... the hotel's in-dining menu is filled with many choices of wonderful meals, drinks and snacks. The morning and evening view from the balcony of our room is truly spectacular. Asiatique is just a walking distance. The staff is very accommodating and friendly! You can sit down anytime in the cafe lounge or restaurant of this hotel and enjoy looking at the boats in Chao Phraya River or listen to the live singers at night. I love to come back to this hotel! My sister and I recommend this to everyone! Great value for your money!

we booked the anantara resort for a week of our honeymoon fortnight. upon arrival we were checked in straightaway and we discovered we had been (most unexpectedly) upgraded to a junior suite. after what had been a tiring journey, the welcome and service we received was unstinting and very hospitable. the location by the chao phraya river is beautiful and we had arrived on the hotel courtesy boat, a service which removes the need to sit in any kind of traffic! use the monorail too and you can get to anywhere without needing a taxi. we ate in the hotel restaurants a few times, always for breakfast which is epic in its variety and superb in its quality, and also at the in-house italian, brio. our meals there were simply stunning. we took up the kasara lounge upgrade when we checked in and it was a very good move as it allowed us afternoon tea and evening cocktails in a very pleasant setting. i must mention the hostesses were impeccable in their service and made our evening pre-supper cocktails a real treat! we met both the resident manager marcus and the general manager claudia during these evenings and they stopped to talk and shared some local knowledge with us. while we were in bangkok we did visit the other big-name hotels on the river but i can safely say the atmosphere at the anantara is *so* relaxed and welcoming, it surpasses all expectations. we will definitely be back.

Decided to stay at the Lebua just for the experience of having a drink at the Sky Bar. Stayed 3 nights at Lebua in an upgraded Riverview suite. Wonderful accomodation. Suite was divided into a large living room and bedroom with the two living spaces separated by a hall with kitchette and bathroom. You could treat the living room as a work area with desktop, and other person can relax in bedroom without bothering each other at all. Perfect if you have to do a little work while traveling. The balcony on this room overlooked the Chao Phraya river and the whole skyline of Bangkok. A million dollar view, and made for very romantic nightfalls watching the boats on the river and lights come up over the city. Service at the hotel was top notch. The only complaint I had was when I was a little uncertain about how to use the laundry service, a person was sent up to my room, and she just took my laundry without explaining the pricing, and my laundry bill was outrageously high...but I guess she was just doing her job, getting me clean laundry in less than 24 hours...Otherwise, the service was superb...I couldn't figure out how to work the DVD player, and called the front desk. Even though our room was on the 53rd floor, a technician to fix (actually explain to me how to work DVD) the TV, was sent up in less than 5 minutes. Actually felt like he was there as soon as I put the phone down. For tourists, the hotel is about 1/4 mile walk from the Skytrain and tourist boat on the Chao Phraya River. For us this seemed close, for others it might be a long walk. Finally, the food menu was a little expensive, but there is a ton of street food within easy walking distance if you don't have an expense account to pay for the hotel restaurants or room service. Breakfast buffet was included in our room price, and was excellent.

Pros - Location, location, location. Very near to both Saphan Taksin BTS and Sathorn (Central) Pier, allowing you easy access to both metropolitan Bangkok by way of BTS as well as places along the Chao Phraya river such as River City, Yaowarat and Asiatique. - Easy access to grocery shopping (Tops Supermarket, 7-11, Boots Chemist, Robinsons) and street food, both along the street facing the hotel as well as the many tasty hole in the wall eateries within 5 mins walk. - Complimentary drink station at hotel lobby from 7am to 7pm to quench your thirst. - Easy access to Robinsons Shopping centre via internal doors near hotel lift. - Friendly service - from counter staff to doorman. - Big room. Ask for higher floors if you want peace and quiet. - Full facility hotel with swimming pool, gym etc. Washing machine, big fridge and kitchen in every room. Cons - Hotel is not brand new and it shows. But fairly well maintained. Water to toilet needs to be filtered, floating moss in the toilet bowl after flushing noted on more than 1 occassion, probably due to old piping. - Hotel has only 2 lifts. Travellers may experience slightly longer waiting time and congestion during peak periods. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, typing this on my cell while on the move. Conclusion - will stay again, ideal place if planning to visit locations along the Chao Phraya river and/or taking the river dinner cruise while still staying in central Bangkok.

We spent the last two days of our honeymoon at the Millenium Hilton and chose to stay on the executive level. It has to be the best stay we've had in Bangkok. As we were on our honeymoon, we arrived to having out bed beautifully decorated and had strawberries dipped in chocolate. The view of the Chao Phraya river that we had was also stunning. We were very pleased that we chose the executive level as it had its own check in/check out area and lounge that we had access too all day with snacks and drinks. Being able to sit out doors so high up whilst having breakfast was also another plus for us. The use of complimentary laptops was useful too. We couldn't stop raving about the Hilton when we got home as we were blown away by the service and facilities offered to us. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We were impressed by the level of security as when we headed back to our room while it was being cleaned, the housekeeping person ensured they checked if our room card was the right one to access the room to ensure that we were the actual occupants. The service was impeccable and this is where we'll definitely stay again anytime we are in Bangkok.

The hotel is located along the majestic Chao Phraya River, room view is stunning and feels relaxing to simply watch the boats traverse the calm water. The continental breakfast buffet was inclusive and had a wide selection, everything was delish! While you're eating, you can watch people (local commuters/working people/students) get off and on the boats through the glass windows as the restaurant is perfectly situated by the Central Pier. Ordered room service a couple of times and the fish and chips were phenomenal!!! Excellent room service, 5-star quality and scrumptious food as i mention again. Approx a 15-20 min walk to Chinatown, to buy street food/ fresh fruit juices/ hot spicy noodles, etc. Highly recommend this hotel if in Bangkok.

This hotel is a great find. It is convenient and clean, with a helpful staff. It caters to an international clientele with accommodations to please everyone, even families with young children. The free breakfast was way above average with many choices for widely divergent tastes.And, the coffee, for this westerners tastebuds, was perfect. If you take a few minutes to orient yourself you will find that with a 5 minute walk you can,for 5Baht, take a one minute ferry across the Chao Phraya to the central ferry stop. There you may purchase a 150 Baht($4.50). all day "hop on hop off" ticket to ride the ferry. This will conveniently deliver you to many of the most important destinations in Bangkok.Don't miss this opportunity. Taxis are cheap, but very slow as Bangkok is, among other things, a giant endless traffic jam. Sorry to digress. The IBIS Riverside is a wonderful place . Makes a great home base for your adventure.Cheers

Pthe room is clean, studio like with a extra such as atable top, come with basin, kettle and a fridge, besides the usual hotel room setting. Very comfortable bed. I enjoy the nearby shops for very affordable meals and massage. So much so I have 4 sessions of good massages in 3 days. 5-10mins walk to the pier that , that you will take a ferry, 5 baht, to across the Chao Phraya, you will be at the Saphan Taksin BTS station.

while there may be newer, bigger, more glitzy hotels in bangkok (and around the world), the mandarin oriental continues to shine as a totally reliable, ever consistent, and beautifully maintained and serviced hotel. the decor continues to stun in quiet and traditional ways, be it in decor (loads of orchids and lotus all over, and lovely thai touches) or service (butler for every room, people who recall your name) or amenities (thoughtful canapes at tea time, in your room; fruit juice and fresh fruit compote in the morning as you laze by the pool or in the changing room of the health centre). i stayed in a 'standard' room, but even this faces the spectacular chao phraya river. there were flowers galore in the room: two potted orchids, a bouquet on the writing table, 2 glass bowls of lotus when they turn the bed down in the later afternoon, orchids by the bathroom amenities etc. throughout the decor is traditionally tasteful, quietly elegant and thoughtful! not glitzy or over the top, but elegance personified.

When my boyfriend and I were planning to book a Hotel in Bangkok, I wanted to have a tub in our room with reasonable prize, since it was our first night we wanted it to be amazing. I found this hotel and was won over its photos of the rooms and was transpired in person, which we were very contented. Upon arrival the FO was very welcoming and helpful, it didnt took us long to wait for the check in procedure and was assisted to our room after 5mins. We booked their Executive Deluxe and it was one of the best rooms. The tub was built for two, best for honeymooners, the bed is big and all the amenities are personalize which makes you feel like you're in a luxurious hotel. Location wise, its very quiet with a lot of street food, which their street is known for, aside from being the oldest roads in Bangkok (a good history), It's a good 5-8mins walk to Asiatique, where you can enjoy night shopping and mid-high level restaurants, before reaching Asiatique, you can pay a visit in a nearby temple for a little sightseeing. You can also save money and time by getting on the boat since its nearby Chao Praya river. Kudos to everyone and I hope to see you all again!

Upon approaching the premises, the welcome was warm and never wavered. I was shown to a room that was spacious, clean and comfortable. I had opted for the Superior room because I am a smoker and it had a balcony, I wasn't expecting to be sitting riverfront, one floor up on Chao Phraya. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it is also riverfront, the beer was cold and seved in a fresh iced glass and a smile everytime without having to as much as raise my eyes for service. Then when I found myself in some external bother the next day, almost the entire place jumped in to put me right, from interperating to phone calls and ordering the taxi. Just wonderful. You may notice full points minus one star on the location rating but that would only be a concern if you want a car park. That just can't happen here.

The hotel in the great location near khao san road and right by the river boat stop handy for traveling within the city. But when we were there we sometime forget we were in the hustle and bustle of the city of Bangkok, it has a seaside resort feel to it. The room are spacious, well designed and beautifully decorated, it is modern style with Thai twist. We loved sitting on the balcony drinking Thai beer over looking Chao Phraya River. We were coincided with Loy Krathong festival of light it was amazing sight. I must mention the pool on the roof terrace with 360 degrees outstanding panoramic view of the city!,it also had jacuzzi. Every morning we looked forward to have our breakfast by the river, it had great choice of Western and Thai food and the menu change daily. Pumpkin soup was our favorite!! The evening, we often ate the restaurant there, we think it was great value for money for the quality of food you can get there. Free internet service.

Each year I hunt for a quality location on the Chao Phraya River which runs through the heart of Bangkok. Riverside locations are prime spots for the most expensive hotels costing many hundreds of dollars a night, but true little gems such as the New Siam Riverside exist. Now I have shared a wonderful little known secret hideaway which is well within the price range of middle class travelers to enjoy. For a few bucks extra the top floor rooms have private balconies with table and chairs to view the passing river activity.

Bossotel Hotel has been a convenient hotel due to its location, nearby Sky train station. I have frequently stayed at this hotel over the years and have noticed a slight drop in its quality. For eg. the paint in room was flaking, the wear and tear on the building was noticeable. Room - I was lucky to be upgraded on my room on my return as they were completely booked. Room was nice and things were clean and working. Staff - pleasant staff but not all of them. The French lady at the reception is an extremely polite person. Breakfast - was adequate and the same over the previous years. Location - as mentioned it is nearby the BTS Sky Train station, 'Saphan Taksin' and it makes commenting easy. Plus taxis are easy to find. A little walk will take you to the Silom Road and you can enjoy road-side cafes and restaurants. Walk in the other direction and you will find the BTS and boats on the Chao Phraya to take you further. Overall an ok place to stay but remember there are many other hotels and for a bit more you can get better value for money.

A small hotel with great design. Get a river view room and you won't regret, especially for couple. Its located in the end of a small alley just right beside the Chao Phraya river, feel cozy and exclusive. Surrounded by the famous Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. Nice restaurant and rooftop bar in the hotel, and if you dont mind to walk, there is a local market about 15 mins away where you can get lots of local foods, fresh vege and flowers.

This is my 11th trip to Thailand and this was by far my best experience. I have stayed at hotels anywhere from a suite at the Hilton to a 200 baht a night room. No one had to offer what this hotel does. It is located in a Wat on the Chao Phraya river. It is an old home that has been completely redone. It has all the modern amenities but retains it's charm. The owners and staff were wonderful and I highly recommend you stay for a couple of nights.

After spending a few days in the hustle and bustle of Silom , I wanted to have a few day quiet on the river - I love discovering new trendy little hotels and this one was perfect. Open for only about a month the hotel is set on the river banks of the Chao Phraya Its a small hotel with very few rooms. As you approach the hotel from one of the little back streets you arrive at a Moroccan/Asian style terracotta building , the entrance with its small red pool and main building is ornate with tiles and colonial style furniture. The rooms are unique and quite fabulous colonial style again , I had a river view room. and loved sitting on my terrace at night watching the boats glide pass. The free standing bathtub was great of which I used every night after walking around the city. and the beds well I slept like a bug in a rug and woke up to the sun rising over silom I loved it and the staff were great -thank you for a great stay - I will be back 🙏🏼

Excellent place, quaint, very well built and located perfectly to experience day to life of Bangkokians that live by the river. The all wooden architecture & boutique furniture & decor creates an amazing warm & cosy feeling. The entrance is a bit off the beaten track, but the staff will help you get there very easily. Catch a grab to any of the nearby boat piers and u will have the full on tourist/local experience of everything to see along the Chao Phraya river. They have a very delicious menu from their in-house IMM restaurant. The only downside to this venue is they could probably provide a hotel boat that drops their guests to the nearest pier, that would complete the WHOLE river experience.

really stylish 17-room mansion renovated into a luxury boutique hotel. if you are looking for something different than the usual high-end design hotels that all tend to look the same then praya palazzo with its rich historical background is the right one for you. you are in the heart of bangkok on the banks of the chao phraya river and can relax by a beautiful pool surrounded by history. the only drawback, if it really is, is that the hotel is only reachable by the free shuttle boat but it never proved any issue for us. you just call them on your cell and they zip over in 5 min or less. can only highly recommend this hotel and its caring staff.

Stayed here five nights and liked it more each day. An under the radar hotel with many good things going for it: great location on the Chao Phraya River, excellent breakfast buffet, friendly and helpful staff, super swimming pool, nice wedding/banquet facilities, spacious rooms, and attractive price. Only a couple negatives: Chinese tour groups are noisy but they are only around in earlier morning or later evening, and sometimes hot water is lacking. I would recommend to anyone to stay here. An excellent value for the money....

Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or family - this place is absolutely amazing! From the moment you lay eyes on this aesthetically pleasing quaint boutique hotel - you will be in love! Talakkia is a hidden gem (literally, down a secure back alley), just a ten minute walk from Chinatown. The staff were exceptional, the food moderately priced and delicious, and the room superbly clean with everything you need - and not to mention the unique, modern-industrial chic decor, so cute! Would stay here a million times more if I could have the chance to! Handy mini bar with snacks and drinks to purchase, tiny (but wonderfully relaxing) outside pool and spa/reading/relaxing area, elevator, and ice cream are just a few of the other great perks! Side note - needed a quick shower after checking out and leaving for the day, staff easily let my partner and I come in, rent a towel, and shower up before a long night train ride (appreciate this so much!) - Talakkia, one of the best stays EVER.
