not having ever stayed in a 5 star hotel we have nothing like it to compare to. however, we were very pleased at the service, cleanliness, and presentation of this hotel. very spacious deluxe room, and the normal room service (cleaning, re-stocking) was terrific too. there is an indoor pool that was a bit on the cool side, but it didn't detract from our daughter having fun in it. free, clean, magnet-locked locker room, and clean showers in locker room. several dining options available, the coffee buffet decent, not grand. the 20th floor italian restaurant, though a bit pricey, was fancy enough and tasty, with amazing views overlooking downtown beijing (tiananmen square, part of forbidden city). hotel in excellent location, just a few blocks from above named attractions. we would definitely stay here again!!

Although the property has seen her better days, there is no better place to experience cosmopolitan Beijing. Sitting on Wangfujing Pedestrian way, the hotel is a 5 minute walk from great shopping and dining. If you are adventurous use the nearby subway to reach Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City just a stop or two away. Although the service is great and the property is super clean, they need new carpet! Some of the atmosphere is dated....but I do recommend you give Sunworld Dynasty a try.

I found Beijing Sunworld, very well situated and as I was alone, I did not feel lonely. Wangfujing streer was closed and I could wander around; but the shopping was expensive. A taximan took Y50 to take me to Tiananmen square and that was really out of order. When I discussed with him about the price, he said to me: Why you come to Beijing then? I checked and learned that the price for taxi to Tiananmen square is only Y15!

Hotel style classic, beautiful, comfortable, spacious room, great location. Staff helpful and efficient. Free WiFi in the lobby. It is 250m from the trendy Wangfujing street where are the biggest malls in Beijing and 300m from the Wangfujing subway station. You can go walking to the Forbiden City, Tiananmen Square, Mausoleum, The Great Hall of the People and National Center of the Performing Arts.      Attention: In Beijing there are many street vendors and small rogue traders who charge prices far above correct. Check everything before you buy. As they only speak Chinese, a good tip is to carry a calculator and ask for they type the price before confirming purchase. This makes it harder to be tricked. In a small shop, the owner wanted to charge me 117 Yuan for a few items that cost 32 Yuan. In Wangfujing there are two lanes with numerous stalls selling Chinese food. A vendor wanted to charge me 120 Yuan for a portion that cost 10 Yuan. Avoid eating in these places because the food is bad and lack hygiene.      Very careful with taxi drivers. At the airport or at the train stations only take taxi in the taxi queue. Many dishonest people comes offer taxi in the queue. Do not accept because they use equipment adulterated and will charge at least 3 times the correct price.

Everything about the hotel have a high end feel and look in a modern Chinese style. I was upgraded to a deluxe room with a big ceiling to floor window facing the city. The hotel has good location, 25 mn walk from Tiananmen square. Subway station is just at the right side of the hotel building (1-2 min walk). There is a starbucks in front of the hotel. The gym is huge and very well equipped. The pool is delightful. You won't want to leave.

travelled to china with my mum. the hilton is a lovely hotel, we booked a twin bedroom and our beds were double beds! the bedroom was lovely, comfortable beds, amazing walk in wardrobe, huge separate bath and shower. room complete with chaise lounge and desk. breakfast is a must. delicious food, all tastes and flavours catered for. i loved the japanese miso soup with noodles and wantons each morning. proximity to wangfuijing street is but a 2 min walk out the front door. loads of shops and department stores. we walked to forbidden city from this hotel, took about 20mins. tiananmen square is across the road from forbidden city. this hotel is well positioned for everything. easy to catch the subway, once you know how to purchase a ticket. we ate in the hotel each night in the chinese restaurant 'chynna'. excellent service and the meals were delicious. must try the peking duck! highly recommended, ask for a map at the front desk!

we loved the hotel, the location is excellent in walking distance of tiananmen square, forbidden city and many shops and restaurants. for added convenience, there is also a starbucks and an atm literally a stone's throw from the entrance. if you fancy a change from the ubiquitous chinese food after a few days, there is a large irish pub (molly malone's) across the street that serves some very good western food. the room was excellent, lots of space (including the bathroom, which had a nice big shower), good air conditioning, big comfy bed and tv with enough english channels. the service was very friendly and efficient, everyone spoke good english and the concierge was eager and happy to help us with any information, order taxis, make restaurant reservations etc. the bar in the foyer is stylish and spacious with many comfortable seating arrangements. the cocktails are excellent - the 'mafia martini' is strongly recommended!

Of all the 4 hotels we stayed at for this trip, this was the cheapest by a noticeable margin, but by far the best value. Excellent and plentiful breakfast buffet, friendly staff overall-especially if you speak Chinese, very clean and modern room and facilities, next to a subway station on one of the major lines, minutes away from several must-see tourist destinations in Beijing incl. the Forbidden Palace, Wangfujing St., the Temple of Heaven, Qianmen St., and Tiananmen Square. What more can you ask for?! We will definitely put this hotel at the top of our list for next visit.

Quintessentially Raffles! Dripping with colonial class and old world charm. Rooms are a generous size, really enjoyed the expansive balcony that overlooks the main road with views of Tiananmen Sqaure to the right. Staff are attentive and eager to help. Location is unbeatable! Nestled between trendy Wangfujing and Tiananmen Square! My only gripe would be, it would be nice if there were better quality of inroom amenities. There was a lack of basics like coffee and razors. But overall still a wonderful experience!! If you like hotels steeped in history and with a storied past, The Raffles, Beijing will be right up your alley!

Our stay in Novotel is close to perfection. The location of the hotel is near Wangfujing Market (where you can shop for food and souvenirs at the lowest price), walking distance to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and shopping malls. The room is also great and so is the food (breakfast). Though majority of the receptionists do not speak english, they make up by looking for other staff who can. Overall, I can consider this as one of the best vacations I had. Thanks to Novotel Beijing Peace Hotel for being part of it.

We are happy to book in Crowne Plaza as this is very accessible to everything. Shopping mall, restaurants, supermarkets. Very near touriat attraction Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square. Stores are everywhere. Its Value for Money. Location is a Plus although the hotel itself is quite old already but they managed to maintain its cleanliness. Staff are polite and courteous but they speak a little English only that there is language barrier between hotel guest and front desk Clerk.

This hotel is great if you are looking to have a historical and cultural experience with some modern amenities. Location: You are literally in the middle of a Chinese ancient Hutong neighborhood. Please note though that the nearest subway is a good 8-10 minute walk and taxi cabs will not take you to the hotel. I suggest taking the hotel up on their airport pick up just to acquaint yourself with the area. Finding it would be a challenge. It is located near many popular tourist sights like the Forbidden City, Tiananmen square, and Wangfujing market street. Also note they have a 24:00 curfew and there is a distinct quite time, so no partying. Hotel: The hotel is cute and quaint. It is quiet and your hotel door leads right into the courtyard. The bathroom is private and up-to-date and you get your own water heater. The room I had was small and musty smelling. In retrospect, I would have splurged for the bigger accommodations. There was literally nowhere, but under the bed to put luggage. Also, the walls are thin so you need to be conscientious of sound. There is a safe in the room. Cleanliness: The bathroom was fine. The room felt a little dusty and smelled musty. There were cobwebs on the lantern above the bed. Other: The breakfast was alright. Juice, cereal, breads, and Chinese stuff. They will make you eggs and omelets. Staff: The staff were friendly and helpful with pretty good English speaking skills. There was one instance we came back from sightseeing to find our hotel door left wide open. We complained and the staff apologized. I don't think that is a normal occurrence, but, nonetheless, should not happen. I really enjoyed the experience. My boyfriend however was not thrilled. This hotel will please you if you are looking to experience China in a more authentic way.

we stayed there for 3 nights in early may. the room was clean, spacious & comfortable; it's a modern design where the entire bathroom is enclosed in glass with no door, but you can slide curtains around it to provide some privacy. amentities like fridge, safety deposit box, robes, and nice slippers were also provided. the hotel is located only a block away from wangfujing night market, and very close to wangfujing shopping district. tiananmen square and forbidden city is about a 15 min walk. also, internet access was free. there is no metro station close by (closest is tiananmen square east), but thankfully taxi is fairly cheap in beijing. the hotel also charged for inroom coffee packets (it's more economical to buy that stuff from a convenient store a few doors down, but nestle instant coffee sold there has more milk & sugar than coffee). we had access to a "courtyard", but found it a little gimmicky and didn't use it (we didn't feel like being caged in a fishbowl while being viewed by hotel patrons walking down the hallway...) we opted out of breakfast (i speak mandarin so we ate at places nearby), but had lunch there one day and found the food & service to be very good (though a bit pricey for locals). overall, our stay was excellent, and will definitely recommend it to travelers.

My friends and I had such a great time here! First off, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They were able to give us directions to everywhere we wanted to walk to (it's super close to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square), called us taxis, told us the specific subway route and stops to take to get to the train station, and even reminded us to take our passports to the Forbidden City, which is not something we would've known to do. The rooms smaller than western-style hotels, but use the space efficiently, and the bathrooms are really nice - I loved their showerheads! We took advantage of the retractable clothesline in the bathroom to wash a few shirts and things - they provide laundry soap along with the other usual consumables like toothpaste and shampoo - and came back at the end of a long day of sightseeing to find that the staff had neatly folded our clothes for us once they'd dried! The breakfast spread is really good, and there's a lot of variety, so everyone should be able to find something they like. There's also a bar in the hotel, which we heartily took advantage of every evening. And although it's not usually something you look for in a hotel, I appreciated that they had souvenirs for sale in the lobby. They were a lot of the usual touristy things (fans, chopsticks, teacups, red lacquer bowls, figurines), but they were at totally reasonable prices. I bought a fan from them for 30 RMB that I later saw in a tourist-trap stall marked as 120! I doubt I would've been able to negotiate that low with my meager haggling skills. My only negative experience, and it has nothing to do with the hotel itself, was with finding a taxi to take us here when we first arrived in Beijing. It's down an alley, so one taxi didn't know where it was, and another just didn't want to drive there at all. It's only a short walk from the Dongsi subway station though, so I would suggest taking the subway here or, if you get a similarly uncooperative taxi driver, ask them to dro

This located at the strategy location and having a bus stop just in front of hotel. There are buses to forbidden city, tiananmen, and other point of visit. Is also bear to nanluoguxiang which is around 15 mins walking distance. There is a bakery selling bread and a mini market just same row of hotel with 3 mins walking distance. Cleaniness is overall good but please take note that please ask there staff to change the bathrobe everyday as there don’t get me new one everyday for my total stay at there for 8 nights. Breakfast is good but limited choices of foods. Overall will recommend this.

The hotel isn't too bad but just not perfect. Overall rooms and services are ok. Breakfast is the pretty much the same stuff every day although there is a relative wide spread. The hotel is not inconvenient but it is not within close walking distance. Perhaps the few minutes of walking would be tolerable but in the summer heat, any minute less in the heat would be good. The nearest subway about 5 minutes away is the Cultural Center station but it requires multiple changes of lines to get to most of the attractions in Beijing. Wasn't as convenient as if you would stay near Line 1 or 2 or 4/5. Overall, the price isn't cheap too and can be considered steep. For the price, much more is expected. Hotel staff at breakfast also needs to explain more about the signing of the bill every morning for the breakfast before guest misunderstood that we may need to pay for breakfast when it's included in our package. Pool wasn't too bad with a slightly hot tub besides it. Didn't go to the gym.

the peninsula is the place to stay in beijing. it is only a few blocks from beijing's major attractions... tiananmen square and the forbidden city. you can get a ride in the rolls royce they park in front... for a hefty price. the rooms are large and nicely appointed with great views of the city. high end stores are located on the main and basement floors with a convenient atm for converting to local yuan currency. my only negative is the hotel's restaurant is very expensive...the buffet cost 800yaun for two... and the service staff was not attentive. try the restaruant across the street for a good sampling of local cuisine.

Stayed all over China this place is at the top of its price range. Not for the hotel or facilities. Location...subway around the corner key to traveling big cities in China. 4 of the biggest malls a block away. Forbidden city, T-square, and a hill for amazing views like 5mins west. The rooms are not huge nor impressive. But clean and spacious enough to be comfortable for the price. Good showers. TV. Decent beds. Drinking water which is actually so needed. Didn't try the menu or eat at the hotel restaurant why bother the streets are cheaper and food courts in the malls are actually very good quality. This place works as a safe, warm, and we'll priced place to drop bags explore the city and easily get home to a decent sleep

My partner and I had a very pleasant and unforgettable trip in Beijing. The accommodation that we had complimented our trip such that it was very convenient to get around and the beds were comfortable after a whole day of walking around town. I would say that the room we got exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. The central location of this hotel is perfect as it borders the high end street road of Wangfujing area and also the Hutong area. There is a mini shuttle tour you will be able to get at Wangfujiing road which takes you around town. We also opt for a tour to the Great Wall by the same organizers. Though slightly a little more expensive, they are more reliable and trusted compared to those that will come up to you on the streets suggesting purchasing their own tours. You will also be able to access the nearby subway station at Wangfujing which is only about 10 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The subway system is very convenient and easy to navigate about. Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are also around a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely stay in this hotel again if we do go back to Beijing.

EChoose this hotel cause it is new and in the best location in Beijing. Staff are nice and helpful. Facilities are all in top grade. There is room to improve. Like better communication on check in, reception should tell us the room to room line is disable between 22:00 - 08:00. Adding a small rubbish bin in toilet room. One more tissue box in living room. A small table next to sofa for placing tea and food...etc. Anyway, the overall experience in this hotel is great and comfortable. Would like to visit again

The hotel is in the city center and conveniently located near the Dengshikou subway station. It's within walking distance of Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing shopping district. The breakfast buffet has many choices and my family loved it. The staff was courteous and helped us purchase train tickets. The hotel is clean. However, the AC in our room wasn't cold enough in the hot summer in Beijing.

This hotel is easy to find (we travelled by airport express and subway - cheap, quick and interesting) and very close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The Grand Mercure has an impressive entrance and is welcoming and clean, with a really excellent bedroom (we were upgraded to Executive Suite on the 10th floor). The buffet dining has a wide range of Chinese and Western food on offer and the staff are friendly but could perhaps be a little more proactive. Service one evening was quite slow, but the food was very good. We arranged the trip to thye Great Wall in the hotel and it was really good. We would stay here again.

I went to Beijing to visit my son (23), who is studying there. I booked a twin room so that he could also stay if he wanted, which worked out perfectly. He said I should not have booked a hotel in a tourist area, because of the cost, but it was worth every penny! It was a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station (Tiananmen East), and the metro cost only TWOyuan(20p)per journey, but taxis were also very cheap (20 yuan or 2GBP to anywhere central, and 100 yuan or 10GBP to the airport). We walked to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the National Museum, and to Wangfujing Street, and got the metro to everywhere else except the Great Wall(metro then bus). The hotel room was perfect, with comfortable beds and a big flat screen TV which doubled as a pc, so when we were exhausted at night from all the sightseeing (always LOTS of walking involved!) we could download movies in English and watch them from our beds! Our rooms were cleaned every day and used toiletries, bottled water, towels etc were replaced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Taxi drivers always found the hotel from the hotel card and I even rang the hotel during the day if I needed directions to other places from wherever I was! I recommend this hotel as a sanctuary to return to after a day in hectic Beijing. Lovely and warm in winter!

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Location is great for places like Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Silk Market etc (if you don't mind a 20 - 30 minute walk) - no problem for taxis. Clean hotel with plenty of amenities/services. Most staff spoke English and well enough to address any issues etc. Room was very clean and spacious. Overall, would definitely return here again.
