Was able to fit 4 guests in one room and great location on Wangfujing Street and close to Metro. On the whole, staff are very welcoming and accommodating. However, some staff especially in the Lobby Bar and Restaurant require additional training on customer service - especially as the Hotel is 5 Star. As a former Hilton and Novotel Restaurant Manager, I could see that staff would benefit from training in how to meet, greet, serve, clear away tables and and up-selling practices. The pool was a great relaxing way to finish the long days in Beijing and the children loved it ! Thank You !

I am an academic who stays in a lot of what I would call 3 star businessmen's hotels in Asia (meaning hotels for local businessmen, since most Western businessmen are normally staying in 4 to 5 star international class venues). I was pleasantly surprised by the Beijing Capital, since it was a bona fide 4 star hotel (local star ratings are dodgy in Asia, so you take them with a grain of salt). I think with their recent renovations that they have achieved that mythic "international standard" that all Asian hotels aspire to. The facilities are very good, and the chief difference between the Beijing Capital and a legitimate 5 star hotel would be in the staff. They are helpful but not as plentiful or trained to the standard of a Shangri La or Four Seasons. But the price is a third of those hotels, so I would consider it very good value as is. They seemed to have circa 75% Chinese guests, 25% mostly Western European tourists, and a significant local convention business. I would definitely stay there again, although the hotel is positioned more for the tourist trade (close to Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City) than business. Good metro access (Chongwenmin stop is circa 7-10 minutes on foot; take exit A and keep walking away from the Novotel to head in the direction of the Beijing Capital) too, which is important since Beijing traffic is pretty bad.

The hotel is located near the Dengshikou station but you can also get here via Wangfujing station. Easy to hail a cab as well if needed. It's walking distance to Forbidden City/ Tiananmen Square (about 20 minutes) and it's close to Siji Minfu Pekng Duck restaurant, one of the locals' favorites. Also near Wangfujing Street where there are a lot of local food stalls, shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. There's a souvenir shop nearby as well that sells cheap goods. The room is also spacious and the staff is very helpful. They will really try their best to understand you (not all are good in English). Buffet spread is good, particularly the coffee selection. Not a lot of meat options, but a lot of healthy options. Definitely my hotel of choice if I were to go to this part of Beijing again.

Highly recommended for a visit to Beijing. Great location with a short walk to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. Metro station is just a short 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel. Hotel is also surrounded by lots of shops, mini markets, cafes and restaurants. One of the best breakfast cafe is just located opposite the hotel. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful in every way, rooms are clean with towels changed and beds made every day. Clean kettle with coffee and tea provided every day, very comfy bed. Had one of the best stays in our China trip this year at a very affordable price.

I got a pain on my back and have to go to the hospital at 2 AM. The front desk arranged the ambulance and the manager, Ms Wang, knows that It better for me to drink more water, she sent a case of bottled water to my room. Very nice people, very nice service. The hotel located just beside the Tian’anmen square,location is the best. Buses and subway stations is only steps. The facility is a little bit out of date, but it is clean. The price is very reasonable Compare to its neighbour- The grand hotel BEijing. I highly recommend it.

We travelled to Beijing with our two kids ages 5 and 2. We stayed in an Executive Suite with two beds and it was perfect. We checked into the hotel and were in our room within about 10 minutes. Our room was on a non smoking floor, however shortly after getting to our room, it was obvious another guest was not observing the no smoking rule. We asked to be moved to another room and it was taken care of immediately by Michael in the Regent Club Lounge. We were moved to the same suite on a different floor with no smoke at all. On our second night, our 2 year old fell in the room and hit her head really badly and we had to rush her to the emergency room. The hotel does not have a doctor on site, but there is a hospital very close by. When we got to the lobby with our daughter bleeding severely, the hotel immediately helped us by having an English speaking bellman walk us to the hospital. We originally were going to take a cab but we didn't have time to wait and the bellman advised us to follow him and walk to the hospital. He translated everything for us at the emergency room and was awesome. Thankfully everything was fine with our daughter and we were back in our room within about 40 minutes. Overall, a great experience. The kids loved the pool. The Regent Lounge was great for breakfast in the morning and snacks and cocktails in the evening. We ate in the lobby restaurant one day and it was really good! Definitely would recommend this hotel.

The concierge was great. The frontline staff at the check-in desk are second to none, fluent in all languages, friendly and welcoming. The room and restaurant facilities meet the 5 star rating. The breakfast was the best I had in all of China, including Shanghai. The experience exceeded all my expectations for a hilton hotel. My next stay in beijing will be here. Internet was fast and flawless which was critical to my work. This cannot be taken for granted in China. Beijing is a large city so if you are doing activities downtown, then this is the place to stay. If you are outside of the 3 ring roads, then you may need to pick a hotel more suitable to your location. Traffic around Wangfujing district can be brutal especially during rush hour.

We had a red-eye flight. When we arrived in the hotel there was no one in the concierge so we had to pull along all our luggages ourselves but were still fortunate to arrive in this hotel because we were upgraded to a suite room.It was very clean and is located in a safe, quiet environment. The people in the concierge are very accommodating especially that very sweet and courteous lady named jesse. All her recommendations were commendable. Because of her suggestions, we were enticed to fly to xian. I can't believe we did it. Flew in to xian in the morning and back to beijing at night.It was really our dream to see xian but thought would never see it because of the flight schedule back home. All staff in the reception are very accommodating and courteous too except for just one lady.didn't get her name though. She was a bit rude to me and to the other tourists,too. I saw the way she talked to them. The best thing is they all can speak in english. The room is fine but have just one comment. It lacks a dresser for the ladies. So difficult to fix oneself without a chair or a stool infront of a mirror. The breakfast buffet is delicious. Very delectable pastries. Would advise not to stay in the wangfujing st. itself because it's over rated and i would say that all things and food in that area are expensive. In this hotel, it's really value for money. You won't regret staying here. Its a four-star hotel but feels like 5. Try their ooodle resto. Very delicious noodles.Da Dong resto is just across. Tastes better and cheaper even than quan jude. Tried the cantonese resto just adjacent to it, food tastes good, too. And starbucks and lei garden are just across the hotel in the jinbao tower. We like beijing.

The hotel is very close to the subway and a leisurely stroll away from Wangfujing. The rooms were clean. The beds were big and comfortable.. firm.. just the way I like it. They even had different types of pillows like buckwheat pillows asides from the normal pillows we use daily. The best for me is the service. My mom had a small accident in the bathroom which is no fault of the hotel's whatsoever but the cleaning staff including the hotel managers came by to help. They were really prompt and efficient in helping us in any way they could. They even offered to take us to the hospital if we so wished. They even gave us a fruit basket as an apology for the untoward incident. I'd like to once again thank all the hotel staff for making our stay a most comfortable one and for the help we received. We'll definitely stay again in this hotel when we go back to Beijing for another visit.

Stayed with Raffles Beijing Hotel for 2 nights and found that this hotel is one of the best I have stayed in... The price is considered at the reasonable, but there is no regret for it... Location is great, just beside Wangfujing Walking Street and also shopping malls around it. Definitely not an issue to shop and dine if you stay in this hotel. Within walking distance (approx. 15 mins) to Forbidden City. Room is nicely decorated, lighted and gave me a warm feeling like back home. Raffles Beijing staffs is also great, always smile and around to help the guests. Overall experience is great & nice, one of the best hotel in Beijing city. Thumbs up and highlightly recommended.

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel. It is located within 5-8 mins walking distance to Wangfujing shopping street, about 15 mins walk to Wangfujing Subway station, 30 mins walk to the Forbidden City. It is convenient to find places to eat as well as convenient store for your needs. The Reception were fabulous and friendly with good command of English (as my wife didn't really understand Chinese). We were given a bigger room in a non-smoking floor (as we requested) although our reservation was for a standard room. It is just the room location has to be accessed through 2nd floor and up some stairs to the other wing of the hotel. The concierge staff who assisted us (Mr. Jack Zhang) was very friendly. As it was our first visit to Beijing, he recommended some places to visit & showed us how to go about. He even informed us the approximate taxi fare if to these places from the hotel. The buffet breakfast consist of western and asian choices which tasted quite nice. We also really appreciate the assistance of another concierge staff upon our check-out (we didn't really catch his full name, just manage to glimpse his name badge has a Zhang). He assisted in hailing a taxi in front of the hotel and help us to inform our destination to the taxi driver. It was a very pleasant stay and made our Beijing trip even more memorable. Thank you.

We stayed at Beijing North Garden hotel for 3 nights at end of Oct 2011. We enjoyed our stay. The best part of the hotel is its prime location on the first block of the busiest Wanfujing street, the start of this prime tourist pedestrian shopping street which is full of big fancy departments stores, huge bookstore next door, alleys full of small stalls and food stands are just steps away. It is located in the trendy new Mall of the Orient complex where Grand Hyatt is located but at the fraction of the price. It is approx. 3 minutes walk from the WFJ subway station, across the street from 24HRS McDonalds which has a dedicated coffee counter, surrounded by hundreds of restaurants and shops and shopping malls. Each nightly casual stroll discovered even more surprises on the main street and side alleys. The front desk ladies are reserved without smile, but they warm up later and proved to be helpful. The concierge bellboy doesn’t seem to know much but front desk ladies tend to cut in fast to help out. We had a very spacious executive suite on the top 11th floor with open living room with sofa and 360 degree flat screen TV, smaller queen bed, safe, fridge and small bathroom, all seem clean and safe. The carpet is tan color, may seem old and dirty to some picky ones, but it looks clean to me upon closer exam. The executive lounge on 12th floor is no longer operational and locked up. No free breakfast and we did not bother to check. There is constantly stream of empty taxis driving pass the hotel so finding a taxi is very easy. The front door is guarded by policemen 24 hours a day. No card needed to go upstairs. Elevators are always ready and fast, very few people around. Taxi to PEK airport from hotel was easy, we reached airport at 8AM in 30 minutes in slow driving in thick fog, 80rmb plus 10rmb toll, total 90rmb. It is not a luxury hotel, 3 stars, but clean and spacious, with the best location in Beijing, very satisfied with North Garden Hotel.

The Crowne Plaza Beijing was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in - and I've stayed in a lot! The staff were amazing - they were so helpful, great English speakers and willing to do anything for anyone. The food was great also at the Club Lounge, Room Service & the Espresso Lounge. My room was huge! Super modern and great facilities. I would reccommened this hotel to anyone visiting Beijing - particularly if it is your first visit to the city. I can't wait to go back next year and stay at the Crowne Plaza Beijing again. Thank you to all the staff who made my stay so unforgettable!!!!

The hotel is located in a "Hutong", i.e., a very small alley. Most taxi drivers refuse to go into those, but I arrived at 11 p.m., it was dark, and I couldn't see the hotel from the entrance of the Hutong, so I begged and pleaded with the taxi driver, who finally consented to taking me all the way to the hotel (I gave him a good tip for his pains). Once I arrived, I found that the staff had, indeed, read the message I left through Agoda about my adult daughter arriving separately and much earlier than me. Overall, the staff was very helpful ... from booking us on a tour to the Great Wall and rebooking it due to some unexpected health issues, to serving us breakfast extra early so we could make it to the tourbus on time. The facilities are nice, but in a few places could use some repairs. The (included) breakfast was a mix of traditional Chinese food (sweet and sour pork, rice porridge, etc.), and Western foods such as cereal, French Toast, regular toast with butter, jam, cheese, and some fresh fruit and yoghurt. The location is within walking distance of the Forbidden City (GoogleMaps helps a lot in getting there) and easy access to a subway station that gives quick and rush hour-free access to Beijing South Railway Station and other sites for just a few RMB.

The hotel was overbooked on my arrival, was walked to another hotel(local 5 stars) for two days, not a problem for me since I am on a week long holiday, but might post a problem to short stayer as this through and flow could probably waste half a day time, I treat it as hotel tour in Beijing :) Beijing now was a far cry to 14 years ago when I first came, everything has been updated, modernized and people are mostly friendly(honestly I did not meet a single rude people throughout my 7 days here), especially youngsters, they are educated and sophisticated and familiar with the latest trend compared to some western cities that I have visited. DIY Sight seeing in Beijing was a breeze, I managed to visit most of the attractions by subway, foot or cab. You may pop by my photo site if you are interested. http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m84/dxyong/Beijing 2010/?albumview=slideshow&track=share_email_album_view_click There is a travel agen a few doors to the left of the hotel, I hired a private chaufer for a day for RMB400(I added another 100 as tip as he is quite a nice and patient chap) to the Great Wall and Ming Tomb as bus tour is not possible for me, I have a 13 mths old baby with me in stroller...also I preffered to walk with my own pace :) But beware, he will bring you for lunch at a restaurant towards the Ming Tomb, check the price when order, table next to me ordered some fish(so call local speciallity) and the bill came out to be RMB1000 for that meal :( Luckily I only had simple fried rice and noodle which cost about RMB100 :) All and all I have to say you will not go wrong staying in Hotel Kapok, for the price (I paid USD75), you probably can't get better value staying in this fantastic's City. I left Beijing with a good memory and impression, I will definately come back again if time and financially permit.

This is the best hotel I stayed in Beijing. If you want to experience Chinese Culture in depth, you do not want to miss this hotel. The hotel is a heritage courtyard house of an ancient scholar back in the emperor's day (ask the luggage boy, he will tell you all about it). The layout of the rooms and garden, and the interior of the rooms and furniture are all very ancient style (not some cheap furniture), which will bring us back to the emperor's day, just like what you see in the movies. The staffs are all very friendly and polite, the receptionists and even the luggage boy. The luggage boy spend time tell us a lot about the history of this hotel, which make it more meaningful when you stayed in there. The location of the hotel is very near the City centre, in the alley way (hutong), but no big departmental store nearby. However it does give you a feel when you walk thru the hutong to the main street (quite safe in the hutong as there is a police station next to the hotel). 10 mins walk will bring you to a subway station, which will bring you to the downtown shopping area within 3 stations. Free wifi and broadband computer in the room, very handy. I will definitely stay in this hotel again if I go to Beijing as it leaves a very good impression.

I was moved to this hotel by agoda because the hotel I originally chose was overbooked. I was given a room on a high floor that had a view of the forbidden city and beihai park, I spent hours just sitting by the big windows of my room just staring at the view. Transportation is also easy because the bus station is very near and taxi/uber driver knows the hotel. Location is also very good and not far from the forbidden city, definitely would stay here again if I come back to beijing

The hotel isn't too bad but just not perfect. Overall rooms and services are ok. Breakfast is the pretty much the same stuff every day although there is a relative wide spread. The hotel is not inconvenient but it is not within close walking distance. Perhaps the few minutes of walking would be tolerable but in the summer heat, any minute less in the heat would be good. The nearest subway about 5 minutes away is the Cultural Center station but it requires multiple changes of lines to get to most of the attractions in Beijing. Wasn't as convenient as if you would stay near Line 1 or 2 or 4/5. Overall, the price isn't cheap too and can be considered steep. For the price, much more is expected. Hotel staff at breakfast also needs to explain more about the signing of the bill every morning for the breakfast before guest misunderstood that we may need to pay for breakfast when it's included in our package. Pool wasn't too bad with a slightly hot tub besides it. Didn't go to the gym.

While the staff deliver 5 star service the hotel's infrastructure is no longer 5 star, with the exception of the pool/gym. Ownership needs desperately to invest in a refurbishment of the rooms/halls, etc. That said, at the right price point, this hotel represents arguably the best hotel value in Beijing. Through a prepay/no refund deal available only on Agoda, my wife and I obtained a great price (excluding breakfast but including taxes for 5 nights in early Jan 2014) and, thus, enjoyed an excellent stay. Our grand deluxe room was quite comfortable and, when a few things needed fixing, the staff responded immediately and quickly resolved the issues. The lobby lounge is a very good spot for meetings over tea/coffee and the gym/pool are excellent. We did not eat in the hotel so no comment on dining. The location of the hotel is great and, for those interested, there is a subway stop less than 5 minutes walk. There are also coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, etc., all within a very short walk of the hotel. In sum, while this property is no longer 5 star in overall quality and certainly not nearly the same quality level as the rest of the Peninsula Hotels around the world, at the right price point it is worth considering and for visits to Beijing. We will certainly consider it for our next visit.

This is a wonderful, cheap and convenient hotel. I had a great time. The location is slap bang in the middle of Beijing. The closest subway is only a few blocks away. Reception don't speak any English, but people who complain about this lack creativity and insight. Just download a translation app, and vuala you're in business. The people here were very nice and smiled every time I passed by. Do your research on the places you want to visit because unfortunately the English level is very low.

we stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and it was good. the room toilet was clean and big. the hotel room was spacious but the door locked was broken which was not safe for us. therefore we requested a new room and immediately they changed to a new room and it was good as before but not as spacious as before. however, the stayed there was good. even the bed was a bit hard and the pillows were so thin but they gave 4 for double bed and extra blanket. the toilet was good, both toilets. the water flow from the shower was really good. they cleaned the room everyday. my husband left ipad on the table and we were out the whole day and when we were back only he realized he forgot to keep it and it was still on the table which is good. the receptionists at the hotel were friendly eventhough their english was not perfect but they were willing to help you for directions. however, the travel agent for day tour at the hotel lobby can speak perfect english and the travel agent for day trip around beijing at the hotel was good and cheap. we even asked the receptionist to get us a cab to the airport 80rmb. this hotel should be recommended because of its location and value for money. the location is a walking distance to forbidden city or you can take a bus number 82(across the street) to forbidden city and qianmen street the famous pedestrian street in beijing apart from wangfujing. (qianmen street would be the last station and as for forbidden city only one stop from the hotel). for muslim, exactly less than one minute walk from the hotel on your left would be a muslim restaurant called dong lai shun. behind dong lai shun (2blocks away) just walk straight, there's another small muslim shop from that street you can walk further down like less than 5minutes to wangfujing. you will find another muslim restaurant at wangfujing near mcd as you can see it from far. another muslim restaurant is exactly opposite hotel kapok. a lil further down if kapok on your left

This is a comparatively new hotel located at Wanfujing area. Once I stepped in, tranquility is what impressed me the most. I arrived a little earlier, so the room was not ready, but the concierge was very helpful by finding my bank and get me a taxi quickly. When I was back, the room was ready, clean and elegantly decorated with everything I need. I went to Beijing for a business meeting, and went out again to get myself familiar with the metro and the meeting location. However, when I was back again, I got surprised to find that the hotel slippers were not in the place where I left them, and two more bottled water were provided. That's when I realised about the evening services. It was my first time to visit Beijing, and staff and concierge are polite and kind to answer all my questions, even helped me get a ticket to the Forbidden City.The bed and pillows were so soft and I slept like a baby in a comfortable crib. If there's any weakness of this hotel… CNN was disconnected often.

Took a bit of a tussle even with the baidu map to reach this place, but once you find it, you'll figure directions easily - great location close by Jingshan Park (literally 200m away), the forbidden palace and other closeby attractions. Location is not short of eateries and supermarkets, and is accessible with buses and a 15 minute walk to 2 different subway stations. Although customer service wasn't eloquent in English, they tried their best and was very helpful at check-in and when we had questions about directions and getting to the railway station. Room was pleasant and wifi works well too - nice place for a quick rest for a day of exploring. I'd definitely recommend staying here and would book another stay if I visit beijing again.

I used to work in one of the only 4 diamond hotels in my state in the United States. So i know what goes into a hotel and am usually very picky. This hotel was amazing. It was clean, they were polite, the staff spoke english. This was the highest class and overall best hotel i have ever stayed in. The pools were remarkable. Inside the changing rooms near the pool are a massive hot tub which could fit 30, a cold bath which could fit 15, and a suana and steam room. All seperated by sex. (My partner had her own in her changing room.) The restaraunt had a buffett for i think it was 88 yuan which was a deal. Great location. I live in beijing as a foreigner so this was just a get away night to have fun on the weekend. I will definitly be returning.

we booked 3 rooms for a total of 8 consecutive nights. the hotel is situated in a great location in between two train lines. the hotel capitalizes that mainly westerners use the hotel and charges everything at ridiculous prices. after a few nights we desperately needed to wash our clothes, but to wash our clothes with the hotel services would have easily costs over (to wash a tie for example). when we asked reception if there was a coin laundry nearby they recommended we use the hotel and only reluctantly gave us directions when we told them that we didn't want to use their services. breakfast is overpriced, do not go there if you don't have it included. for five coffees, two breakfast cereals (cornflakes), one bowl of fruit and toast came to 498rmb!!!! ridiculously expensive. avoid buying anything from the hotel. i paid 44rmb for a beer in the lobby the first night but bought my own beers for 6rmb and drank them there the following nights. housekeeping were good, the only mild complaint would be that my single bed to be against the wall and the carpet underneath was really dirty. however, whenever we needed anything (like a needle to fix my button or an iron) it was delivered promptly. they also shine your shoes for free. didn't use the facilities because we were too busy (leaving early, returning late), but the gym is very cheap looking so don't book this hotel just for that feature. apart from the ridiculous prices, the hotel is great. just walk out reception, turn right and walk for 500m and there is a great shopping district complete with markets (if you're looking for the markets, it's on the same side as the hotel and it's in a building with a mcdonalds - the markets are awesome). i had a great time in beijing and the hotel really is in a prime spot do carry out everything you need. if they just lowered their prices they would be fantastic.

I stayed at the Jade garden hotel one week of December. It was my first visit to Beijing and generally to China. And this hotel was just what I needed: very clean, safe, calm. And dinner buffet - tasty, simple, fresh. And 60 RMB for meal is good price for Beijing. Service was exellent everywhere. Locaion of the hotel is one of the best in Beijing: close to Forbidden city in very beautiful and clean district. There are a lot of small places to eat. Closest metro station is Tian'anmen east - about 15 min walk. And you can see nice garden on this way - full of people doing exercises on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And empty and a bit mysterious on late evenings. Room is a bit smaller than they appear on photos, bathroom is tiny but with tube. Nice sink table and not so nice tiles around tube. Really hot water - very important in winter in China. Perfect bed - comfortable with good linen. Internet connection: you can browse using flat TV screen or your own laptop. TV channels - about 60 Chinese and CNN, TV-5 (french). No any Russian. Beijing was first city when I often came back to the hotel early: many places are open just till 16.00. I had to wake up early morning and was very tired at 7 PM. It was first time when I needed some TV to watch but no big choice. By the way, there is a small coffee machine in room. So you can bring your favorite coffee (in bags)and enjoy it. Other options for good coffee is Panjiyuan antique market. Not so antique but very interesting place< lot of craft items, worse to visit. Coffee is on right hand close to entrance))) *It's second time I use Agoda service. I like their discounted rates!

We love this hotel. This is a big hotel. A local 5 star hotel with spacios room, big size bathroom, very clean room and complete amenities. Superb location it is only 100 mtr away from Dongdan station (line 1 & 5) exit B facing to the Jianguo hotel and 200 mtr away to exit A & F facing to the malls at oriental. Subway transportation is the best way to explore beijing since it is very very difficult to find a local who can speak english. Wangfujing street it is around 1 km away from the hotel (right behind of the malls at oriental). I would definately recommend this hotel to everyone
