“It has a sense of cleanliness.”
Unfortunately, there was no dinner or breakfast, but there was a sake shop and a ramen izakaya right in front of me, a place run by a single master where everything I ate was delicious. Also, the coffee at the café diagonally in front was quite American-style, but it used beans with less acidity. The hot sandwich with ham and lettuce and the egg sandwich were incredibly delicious. It seems the omelet rice is popular there. I came on the 30th of GW (Golden Week), specifically on a weekday, but many places were closed. I had planned to go to an eel restaurant for lunch, and since the noren (shop curtain) was out, I felt reassured, and the website said they were open, but they weren’t. I looked for places to eat while driving by, but it was hard to find somewhere to eat, so in the end, I checked into a hotel and had soba at a nearby dining place. It was delicious, but there aren’t many places to eat around. In the morning, the annex has a drink bar with free refills about 300 meters ahead. It seems there’s also a café in the main building at Hirayu no Mori, with a large souvenir shop in between, plus a convenience store and a bakery. The restaurants seemed to close around 3 PM. The bathroom in the annex has natural sulfur hot springs, which are fantastic and great for my sensitive skin. Another guest mentioned that taking a bath here helps with milk production while she was nursing and that sulfur is said to have benefits for blood circulation, atopic dermatitis, and athlete's foot. Oh, and the front desk staff were kind. The bed was a semi-double, I think? It was large and comfortable to sleep in. There was a designated smoking room inside, which I appreciated. It was the best hotel!
