    Perfect Hot Springs Hotel”

From Fujisawa, take the JR Tokaido Line for about 30 minutes to Odawara Station. Booked the hotel's 2:15 PM shuttle bus a day in advance, which departs from the statue outside the station. The ride takes about 50 minutes to reach the hotel for check-in. Dinner time needs to be selected in advance (buffet style, with a dining time of 90 minutes). Two people can sit by the window with a great view. The hotel lobby is on the third floor, where free tea is available with a view of the lake. Outside, there is a free foot bath with towels provided. The breakfast buffet is very rich and can be enjoyed until 9:30 AM. Depart at 10:00 AM, walk 3 minutes from the hotel to the Taoyuan-dai Station to purchase a one-way ticket for 1500 yen (via Alipay) to the Sounzan Station. Take the cable car for two stops to the Owakudani Station, where the volcanic crater is slightly noticeable, but not as spectacular as the Jigokudani volcano in Hokkaido. Bought black eggs for 500 yen for four, which are actually similar to regular eggs. Change to another cable car to the Chokoku-no-Mori Art Museum for 590 yen. Take the Hakone Tozan Railway towards Odakyu Hakone and get off at the museum after passing through the forest. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the station to the museum. The adult ticket is 1600 yen, and the university student ticket is 1200 yen. The museum is very large and special, with over 400 works of art, including a Picasso exhibition hall, a colorful glass tower, and a café serving bread, ice cream, and coffee. After leaving the museum, walk for about 10 minutes and take the orange H Hakone-machi bus (can use Suica card) for about 13 minutes to the Moto-Hakone Station. Get off at the museum's entrance and take a few escalators up the mountain. The adult ticket is 1500 yen, and the university student ticket is 1000 yen. Head straight to the observation deck, where the outside is free but the air conditioning is insufficient. Inside, there is a place to buy drinks and cakes. The view is excellent, and it is suitable for spending an hour relaxing. Across from the museum, take the 4:30 PM pirate ship back to the Taoyuan-dai Station for 1200 yen, which takes about 25 minutes and offers a view of the water bird shrine. After experiencing all kinds of transportation in Hakone, it was not tiring at all, and it was perfect to return to the hotel for dinner. It was a perfect day!

    - There is a shuttle bus from Odawara Station to the hotel, and the driver will help you with your luggage and is polite and friendly. - The hotel is very close to the Hakone Tozan Railway, making it convenient to take the pirate ship or visit Owakudani. - The staff are polite and friendly, and there is free tea and water available at the reception. There is also a free foot bath outside. - Dinner and breakfast are buffet-style and delicious. The grilled silver cod and sweet shrimp sashimi are recommended. - The hot springs are comfortable and there is an outdoor bath. Hair dryers, skincare products, and makeup removers are provided, and the environment is very clean. - The room is new, clean, and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a balcony outside where you can enjoy the view of Lake Ashi. - The hotel provides a shuttle service to Odawara Station after check-out, which is very thoughtful. - I would like to stay here again on my next visit to Hakone.

You can also enjoy a happy hot spring bath during a summer trip to Hakone.”

When I first arrived in Hakone, I had some bad luck with the weather causing the cable car to stop running. After some twists and turns, I finally made it to the hotel from the Peach Source Platform. When I arrived, the entire hotel was surrounded by clouds, which felt magical, like a fairy tale cottage in a mystical land. I'm not sure if it was because we were on a mountain or in the clouds, but it was very cool and refreshing that day. The hot springs were also very comfortable. One of the unique features of this hotel is that you can choose your own style of yukata to wear. The dinner was very ceremonial, with small baskets of appetizers that resembled kaiseki cuisine. You could take as many appetizers as you wanted, and I always want to eat more when I have kaiseki cuisine. The main course was either a paid option or an unlimited option for the day. Today's options were grilled fish and roast beef. Each table was given a card to take to the cooking station to tell the chef how many servings of each dish they wanted, with a maximum of four servings per dish. For breakfast, there was also tea-infused rice to eat. The hot springs had indoor and outdoor options, and they used Dyson hair dryers. The men's and women's hot springs switched places in the morning and evening, and one of the outdoor hot springs had maple trees and two levels. It was a surreal experience to soak in the hot springs in the clouds for the first time in my life. It was so cool! If the weather is good, there is also a foot bath outside the lobby that you can soak in. I heard that it's even more beautiful here in the winter, so I hope to come back again. The only suggestion I have is that if the cable car stops running, I hope the hotel can notify guests in advance. That would be perfect.

1 luxurious night at Lake Ashi”

We are a family of 4, with 2 adults, 1 college aged son, and our 12 year old daughter traveling to Hakone / Lake Ashi area for the first time ever, staying at the Ashinoko Hanaori Hotel. Location is great. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the Togendai Ropeway and to the pirate cruise terminal (all included in the Hakone Free Pass which we would recommend purchasing). The hotel is a 6 minute walk to a local bus depot called Kojiri(?) Lake Ashi can be visualized from the hotel grounds and our hotel room. Hotel Room is great too! We splurged and booked the lake view Japanese and Western family hotel room with a private onsen inside our hotel room, on our balcony. Hotel room had plenty of space for sleeping (with two regular twin beds and two tatami beds on the ground). We also had a living room area with a couch. The hotel room came with 2 complimentary rental sets of Japanese clothing for everyone. The hotel also provides 2-3 sets of complimentary slippers for everyone, including complimentary socks. The room also had complimentary toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo, body wash, hair conditioner, hand soap, facial cleansing oil, facial moisturizer and body moisturizer. The room also came with 8 bottles of water, complimentary teas, coffees and 8 clean ceramic cups for coffee and tea. The private onsen was so amazing. Hotel food was delicious. We booked the hotel package including a buffet dinner and buffet breakfast. We wore the Japanese clothing provided by the hotel to breakfast and dinner. I also used the hotel’s complimentary white wicker basket as my purse at the hotel at breakfast and dinner. The hotel also provides free shuttle service from and to the Odawara train station. You must arrange this shuttle service 24 hours in advance through the hotel front desk. We paid about $16 USD for 2 hours late checkout (12pm checkout instead of 10am). We spent extra time in our room and used the private onsen after breakfast. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ashinoko Hanori! It was a 5 star hotel experience!

    2nd stay”

We loved our first stay here a few years ago, so we stayed here again during this Hakone trip. Room was great as always. Looks clean. However, I found a keycard in the Hanten provided in the room suggesting that it may not have been replaced since the previous guest. Maybe not as clean as I thought? Note there is also no coffee provided in the room, only tea. Coffee is available in the lobby though, only on specific timing. Onsen baths were good. Though some guests are chatting loudly in the onsen so one may find it difficult to relax. It is also the first time I experienced someone taking my slippers. Breakfast and dinner were both good. Much more variety available during dinner than breakfast. Staff and service was great.
