Great Hotel in Beijing”

Executive Junior Suite is amazing

I had a great stay at the Grand Mercure in Beijing. The young French Interns Avi and Jeremy were really halpful for hotel protocols as well as touring Beijing. Booking on Agoda was easy and I was surprised at the amazing deal that I got. The executive suite gives you many additional advantages so it was a bargain. I would definitely stay here again. You are near ther metro and you can walk to Tianamen Square and zforbidden City.

A good hotel to stay”

This hotel is easy to find (we travelled by airport express and subway - cheap, quick and interesting) and very close to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The Grand Mercure has an impressive entrance and is welcoming and clean, with a really excellent bedroom (we were upgraded to Executive Suite on the 10th floor). The buffet dining has a wide range of Chinese and Western food on offer and the staff are friendly but could perhaps be a little more proactive. Service one evening was quite slow, but the food was very good. We arranged the trip to thye Great Wall in the hotel and it was really good. We would stay here again.

Great stay at Grand Mercure Xidan Hotel”

Close proximity to the most sightseeing places Excellent breakfast buffet Clean and well maintained swimming pool and spa Pool attendance all the time!!! Spacious and well furnished room Friendly staff
Need more staff at pick hours for check out Staff should concentrate on one customer only and should learn to say "sorry, I am with a customer at the moment" when destracted by other staff.

We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Mercure Xidan Hotel. Room was very spaciuos, clean and well appointed. Staff is very attentive. Hotel is in close proximity to the most sightseeings but we used taxis all the time (make sure you have metered taxi, as there are still some cowboys around). Taxis are very cheap. Just have address written in Chinese. Breakfast was excellent. We used swimming pool and spa everyday to cool us down. They had even a pool attendant! A top mark for health and safety! Great for family. Would stay again. Highly recommended.

Good Deal”

Good price, Near to subway and helpful staff

Had a good experience. Only down side was hotel executive floor which we were staying was undergoing renovations even on weekend and it was dusty and abit noisy at times during day time. The renovation workers were also walking up and down the room corridor which was abit discomforting. Check in staff did not elaborate on executive room benefits when we checked in but thankfully we printed our the benefits during the booking process. Hotel location is near the tourist attractions like Tiananmen, Forbidden city, Bei Hai, Xi Dan, Wangfujing etc. However, there is not too many food options within walking distance. Hotel is 300 meters from 2 subway line. All said, would still consider it for future leisure stay in Beijing.

Great Hotel and Value for Money”

Clean, great service, great location, reasonably priced.
A bit far from convenience stores.

The hotel is strategically located and near to main attractions such as forbidden city, summer palace, etc. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The room is big and very clean. It's very quiet inside the room. All furnitures are new. Breakfast is ok although not excellent, but with the cheap price, we definitely very happy staying in this hotel. Recommended for all!!

EXCELENT VALUE”

Location, cleanness, service. Really excellent value for the money!
Nothing!

The location of the hotel is excellent with two subway stations near by (100 meters away). Reception desk and the rest of personnel were very friendly and very helpful. Food at the hotel was good. There is a noodle restaurant near the hotel too (going south). A supermarket is around 300 meters from the hotel (south). The room was very clean and comfortable. Most tourist sites are reachable through the subway system. Tian'Anmen and forbidden City are near by (10 to 15 minutes walk).

My first stay at the Grand Mercure Xidan Hotel”

Proximity to the most tourist attractions. Spacious and well appointed room. Excellent breakfast. Loved swimming pool, spa, sauna and steamer.. Everything was top notch. Pool attendant was always present!!! Concierge and bell boys were very attentive and helpful.
Long cue during check out. Should have more staff during pick time. When staff at the reception serves the customer, they should concentrate on this customer only. It is very annoying when receptionist distracted ten times and customer have to explain things over and over again. This should be your policy.

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. It is centrally located. Room was very nice. We especially enjoyed swimming pool and spa and were impressed with a high hygiene and safety standards. Pool attendant was present all the time. Breakfast was excellent. The only annoying thing was at the reception area. They are not concentrating on one customer at a time and doing a dozen things at the same time. Not entirely their fault as they are constantly distracted by other staff. However, we liked hotel and should we travel to Beijing again we definitely stay there again.

Good location, Value for Money, pity about the breakfast”

Grand Mercure is located in the middle of 2 MRT stations, and close enough to Tiananmen Square and Xidan Shopping zone to make it a good base for exploring the rest of Beijing. Being international, the service standards were good. The rooms were a bit dated but not run-down, clean and comfortable. I tried the breakfast once during my stay and i have to say it was a bit of a disappointment. The international selection was limited and service was slow, glasses were not replenished and used cutlery and crockery were not cleared promptly. Overall, a positive experience.

Confortable Room, Excellent Service, Central Locat”

Service, Location, Room

On websites, the hotel lists itself near Gugong (Imperial Palace) and Wangfujing, but it is 2-3 subway stops away. Nevertheless, it is conveniently located: walking distance to the Domestic Airlines Building (where you get on the airport bus for a one-hour ride), Tian'anmen Square, and Xuenwuming subway station (Lines 2 and 4). North of Tian'anmen is the Imperial Palace. The staff's service is excellent. I needed to repack a cardboard box, and the hotel provided me packing tapes. The wi-fi is complimentary, as are two bottles of water each day. There are a swimming pool and fitness center in the basement, but there is no wi-fi there. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but there are restaurants in small alleys (hutongs) across the street.

Great Western style hotel but perks are expensive.”

Spacious lobby, decent size rooms and punctual staff

we booked 3 rooms for a total of 8 consecutive nights. the hotel is situated in a great location in between two train lines. the hotel capitalizes that mainly westerners use the hotel and charges everything at ridiculous prices. after a few nights we desperately needed to wash our clothes, but to wash our clothes with the hotel services would have easily costs over (to wash a tie for example). when we asked reception if there was a coin laundry nearby they recommended we use the hotel and only reluctantly gave us directions when we told them that we didn't want to use their services. breakfast is overpriced, do not go there if you don't have it included. for five coffees, two breakfast cereals (cornflakes), one bowl of fruit and toast came to 498rmb!!!! ridiculously expensive. avoid buying anything from the hotel. i paid 44rmb for a beer in the lobby the first night but bought my own beers for 6rmb and drank them there the following nights. housekeeping were good, the only mild complaint would be that my single bed to be against the wall and the carpet underneath was really dirty. however, whenever we needed anything (like a needle to fix my button or an iron) it was delivered promptly. they also shine your shoes for free. didn't use the facilities because we were too busy (leaving early, returning late), but the gym is very cheap looking so don't book this hotel just for that feature. apart from the ridiculous prices, the hotel is great. just walk out reception, turn right and walk for 500m and there is a great shopping district complete with markets (if you're looking for the markets, it's on the same side as the hotel and it's in a building with a mcdonalds - the markets are awesome). i had a great time in beijing and the hotel really is in a prime spot do carry out everything you need. if they just lowered their prices they would be fantastic.

Beijing Sightseeing”

Location, Swimming Pool, Beds.

I am reviewing this in the light of having stayed at three Grand Mercure Hotels in China during this visit. The first was in Shanghai, obviously a newer property and more modern throughout, with larger rooms. In all of them the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Also in all the beds and linen were very good and all the hotels were very clean. This property seemed to be slightly older, and the room decor reflected that but no big problem, the bathroom here was the smallest of the three and older in style. The only thing in terms of the food, the breakfast here was not as good, by no means bad, I suggest using the dining room on floor 10, which is less full and the eggs were cooked to order, but we would stay here again quite happily.

We have stayed in the Grand Mercure several times and it is our favourite hotel in Beijing. Great hotel, good service and good location.

Clean room”

Room is clean and spacious. In between two train stations. Just a couple of stations away from forbidden city. Not a lot of food options around the hotel. So suggest to have your meal before heading back for rest.

perfect for foreigner”

tv channel, breakfast menu, location

first time stay here after several times comes to beijing within this two years. before stay here, found a lot of local 4-5 stars hotel but the tv channel provide is local tv channel. after come to this hotel found out that the tv channel is a lot of international tv channel so very helpful when you dont want to go out at night or weekend especially in the winter periode. for the breakfast, i think is mot so different with local 4-5 stars hotel near this hotel. but dont know why i feel this hotel breakfast better in taste. the coffee also better. with this range room price, it is hard to find hotel with indoor pool facility. although i never try the pool but this facility give a plus point for this hotel. the location is perfect. it is very near to the business district area and in front of the hotel there is a street that you can find a lot of restaurant for dining. and also near to train station in case you dont want to take a cab in beijing.

Overall good value for money, comfortable, clean”

Location, clean, value

Hotel is located walking distance form XiDan subway and shopping area (not as busy as Wanfujing area), 800 meter walk, nothing closer to the hotel, not even a convenience store. Agoda rate do not include internet in the room, you have to pay extra, which is usually what budget hotels do, so for that MErcure could make an effort. Rooms are big enough and comfy, only problem I found was that I couldn't get the airconditioning to work, only heater, it was 15-20 degrees outside, but I found it was very hot in the room and AC would have been more than welcome:s Staff is rather helpful. I did not try any of the restaurant there. GYm and pool were just decent. Very few international channels on TV.Overall it was ok/good for that kind of price.
