Zhangjiajie hotels & places to stay

This place is absolutely amazing. The Aesthetic, the Staff, THE FOOD, the Scenery, All of it. We were completely surprised by the quality of the place. Probably some of the best sleep we have had in a very long time, certainly in China. Rain is the man, he really made our stay very memorable. It was a pretty exciting and somewhat long drive from the City to the Inn, however it gave us a great look at the local scene and all the changes that are going on in Zhangjiajie. It is kind of a shame that that drive is changing because by autumn 2018 the new highway to the park is going to be finished. Thankfully the 1000 acres that the Inn is on may go for the most part untouched. Zhangjiajie is known for its natural beauty, and Valley No.5 Inn is a fantastic way to immerse yourself and feel the peace of nature. Next time we go to Zhangjiajie, we will stay at Valley No. 5!

I rarely write reviews as I'm time starved, however after travelling from Singapore to Zhangjiajie, I had a little shock on arrival. Firstly, the rooms we had booked (Shuizhai) were not available as they were under going some reconstruction even though they were available on Agoda. The staff told us that they had tried to contact Agoda to contact us to no avail. I'm not sure who is telling the truth as I did not even receive any email from Agoda. Hence, to "compensate" us due to the price difference they have given us a better room (Muzhai) which we turned down as it didn't made a difference to us as it was located in a part of the resort which we were not very keen in. We proposed that provide us a round trip Wulingyuan as we did not make use of their airport transfer and also to waive off the service charge. They agreed that these were "compensation". However, during the stay we found out from the staff and guests that service charge on F&B is already waived for in-house guests and that transport which can be pre-arranged is free of charge. In this sense, this "compensation" wasn't sincere and we felt cheated. In the end their general manager waived off 10% of our F&B charges (which weren't much ~RMB30) after much fuss from the missus. I heard from the staff that the resort is fully operational in the middle of 2014, hence if you were to go there before this period, do not expect the swimming pool, spa, farm and other facilities to be ready. Otherwise, apart from the hiccup above, we really liked the resort design and the excellent service from the F&B Director,his staff's service and the driver that had assisted us in getting us to the train station on time despite the fog. Taking a walk around the resort in the evenings is also rather relaxing and romantic. This place has immense potential for a wonderful getaway. There are minor usability issues with regards to the bathroom design, but the place is very clean.

We asked for non-smoking room but they gave us one with very strong cigarette smell. When we rang the counter they changed our room quickly, and even bigger than the first one. Breakfast was excellent, with a large selection of both western and eastern foods. Staff are very friendly, especially the lady manager who was on duty at night (sorry I did not get her name). Location is good - 15 minutes' walk to the shops. If you need to book a 7 seaters taxi to the railway station or airport, don't book it at the service counter at the hotel - it is very expensive. Just walk outside the hotel and ask any of the taxi driver to book you one (they have contact with Di Di - UBER - drivers). If you book before hand, they will turn up on time, even if you book for the next day. If your air- conditioner gives hot air and it is too hot, forget about contacting the service counter. They cannot do anything. We tried many times and gave up. Just turn it off and open the windows to sleep.

I really had a great time in this hostel. It is located just 5 minutes from the entrance to the national park. The owner is very kind, and does everything he can to help you. He also let you do your laundry for free. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. There is a squatting toilet in the bathroom, but I wouldn't call that a minus; we are in China after all, and this is a mountain region. The hostel is also conventiently placed close to nearby restaurants and shops. There is a cheap 10 Yuan breakfast place just south east of the hostel (close to one of the bridges). The cheap restaurants are located further down the road in the same direction. Highly recommended if you want a base for your adventures in Zhangjiajie national park.

Very good location, only takes 10 minutes to airport by car and takes 2 minutes to Tianmenshan cable car station by walk. There are big beautiful park infront of the hotel. You can be provided airport pick up service by free. Very clean room and good service. But little bit noisy because of cars, I recommend get a room at the other side of big road. I will stay at this hotel if I visit Zhangjiajie again.

I actually wrote my review on this hotel 40 minutes after check out but somehow I don't understand its not publish and not in my draft too. Actually I don't have patience to immediately wrote because I love this hotel very much. It's the most luxurious hotel in Zhangjiajie. I never thought the room is so beautiful, Luxurious and cozy. All amenities were high end, the room space about 60m2, Helen upgrade my booking to suite rooms and I appreciated. Bath room with separate shower and bath tub with very high end quality, towels all look very fresh and clean, especially the design of the room and bathroom, hidden closed and fancy table provides accessories looks stunning. Teapot and various types of tea and coffee complete ours stay. Too bad I must check out early due to my airplane schedule, I miss this hotel and definitely be back. We got breakfast but because must check out early we have no chance to try it. Highly recommended and you all will thanks me. We stayed here for the first day and last couple of days of the visit in the Zhangjiajie area. The staff was very informative. Provided information on where to visit with the timeframe we had and we left our big luggage at the hotel while we traveled light to Wulingyuan and Zhangjiajie village. The taxi ride from the train or bus station is roughly 10 CNY or the number 6 bus will take you directly to the plaza where the hotel is located. It's up a set of stairs on the right hand side.

We felt totally hospitality, All staffs were very helpful. Just shared with our experience. 1. Due to our flight delay, we called up to postpond one day arrival, the hotel promised to refund us one night hotel fee without penalty of course with proof from airline. 2. 25th December to 29th December 2012, weather forcasted snowing and visibilty was low, so we changed our trip schedule, instead up to mountain, we were going to pheonix village first, so we needed to swap our hotel stay, the hotel travel department staffs helped us to do this. 3. Eventually we were back to Zhangjiajie on 29th, weather on 30th, 31st December was getting better, so nice for us to take a lot of photgraphs, experience different sceneries of Zhanjiajie in different weather from snowing, cloudy and sunny. 4. Without the help and flexibility of the hotel staffs we would waste our time by staying in Zhangjiajie for first three days without viewing any famous mountaineous scenery in Zhangjiajie. 5. Our advise for those photographers, it is better to spare few more days to stay rather than just two or three days as suggested by tour guide. The weather in Zhangjiajie varys a lot. That is the mystery, that is the spectacular scenery everyone looking forward to see.

This hotel should be called hotel weiwei as she runs the show ! she was on reception all the time and did an amazing job - checking guests in and out, solving any issues...advising on where to go, what to do and even help me with my chinese language. She single handedly deserves the 5 stars ! Beyond her, the location was great and easily accessible to everything. My original plan was to go to Wulianyuan national park and stay around there from day 2 but after such a warm welcome, i decided to stay in the city and commute each day. I am glad i did and hope to return to Zhangjiajie one day. At that time, i hope to return to Hotel California.

I wish I stayed at Wali’s throughout my entire trip in Zhangjiajie rather than in the city itself! The rooms were very big and comfortable and had everything you need. It’s also located near the bus station and main entrance to Zhangjiajie - all within walking distance. The owner is extremely welcoming and is very helpful with directions. He speaks English and every morning would sit down with you to plan out the best routes to take based on the time, weather and crowd. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in.

It is managed by youthful, patient and cheerful staff. Hotel has an artsy layout. It takes about 15mins walk from the bus station to the hotel. Exit at Central bus station then keep left all the way You will see "LV Bo Hotel" and pass the entrance of the bus station; police station, two hospitals and onto a canal. Go to the end of the walkway; on the opposite side of the road you will see "Changchun Home Stay" You should turn left and walk towards the canal. The hotel is right at the end of the canal.

The owners and their daughter made us feel so welcome here. Though they didn't speak English, they used translation apps like pros and helped us to organize our time in Zhangjiajie wonderfully. The owner and his daughter took us on a tour of the surrounding area and saved us a bunch of money by taking us to the airport. The hotel itself is quite clean and comfortable with good A/C. The location is right on the main street so it's a short walk to the main city center and a 15 RMB taxi ride to the national park gate. I will truly relish my time spent here and recommend all other travelers go here for the personality and kindness of the owners.

This was my first trip to Zhangjiajie and the proprietor of the Wind and Wood Inn/张家界风居住的森林民宿 did his absolute best to make my stay memorable. When I arrived at the Wulingyuan Scenic Area ticket station I was a little confused so I gave the Inn's boss a call and he promptly messaged me an itinerary for the day that maximized the sights I could visit along the way to the Inn. The next day he also drew up a very efficient itinerary for the day. I originally booked a third night, but after discussing the early train ride I had coming up the boss suggested I cancel and even booked me a new place to stay in the city and arranged a ride down. The rooms have a thick aroma of fresh-cut pine The wifi is fast. The hot water is plentiful. This is a brilliant place to stay and you will love tasting a slice of Chinese country living against the backdrop of the forested slopes and bamboo thickets of the Zhangjiajie foothills.

had a really nice time. I was traveling to Zhangjiajie for the first time and I was really nervous because it's a small place and I wanted to see the best way to see everything. the hotel staff was really helpful and their services were impeccable. the treated is like family. they showed us the map of national Forest Park and guided us on the routes to take. helped is get a taxi to the airport in cheap. helped get medicine when I fell ill. just a really lovely experience.

Good experience, would recommend. You'll want to spend at least 1-2 days in Zhangjiajie Forest Park, north of the city center. This is an ideal location for that part of the trip. Hotel is walking distance from the park entrance, and the staff gave us a clear itinerary and good recommendations for exploring the park. There are limited dining options nearby (we saw none), but the food at the hotel was good for 2 days' breakfast and dinners.

The Best Western is located at the edge of Zhangjiajie City, just before the start of the highway that takes you to the national park area. It's a short taxi ride from most of the important areas of the city itself--restaurants, Tianman Mountain cable car station, etc. The room was presented very tastefully, with flower petals sprinkled in the washroom, a rose lying on the bed, and a fruit basket on the table. Everything was comfortable, and the only caveat was an occasional mild smell coming from the bathroom drain, which seems to be common to a lot of Chinese hotels.

This is a wonderful place for backpackers, there are many people in this hostel can speak English. They are very friendly and very devoted show you how to go, where to go. This hotel on the road, easy to find it. I came it in the winter, it's so cold in Zhangjiajie. People in the hostel very took care of me. They have a fireplace on the first floor, they make tea for me, make me feel like I'm home. The room very clean with the modern interior but the decoration make us feel like you are in a traditional home in China. They have many books and on the first floor, it's a small coffee shop. If I come back in Zhangjiajie, I will stay at there again

Upon arriving at Zhangjiajie airport we were met by Xiao Xiang’s husband, who had a big friendly smile. In spite the lateness of the hour, his driving was very careful and we never felt any anxiety en route. At the Inn we were showed our room and asked if we were hungry or wanted anything to drink even though it would mean that they would have to cook dinner for us at eleven pm. The inn is totally family run, thus it has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the meals are delicious and one can eat anytime and anywhere. It was a pleasure to walk to the village market, buy fresh produce and then come back for breakfast whenever we felt like it instead of having a fixed time. Dinner is also the same, upon our return from hiking they asked when and what we would like to eat, and the portions were generous and the food delicious. One can also request a certain dish in the morning and they happily buy the produce and prepare it for dinner. This same courtesy and friendliness was forwarded to all the guests and everyone was treated in this special manner, one could always hear laughter and the atmosphere is very good. The rooms are clean, cheerful and the beds extremely comfortable and the quality of sleeping is excellent. It is a village life so the village people get up early and one can observe everyone going abot their daily activities starting from the early morning. From the balcony, and the downstairs terrace one can see the mountains, hear the river and enjoy the evening after hiking in the park. Xiao xiang’s sister is a guide and can take guests around park to see the different parts if they are worried about finding their way around. The Inn is a few minutes’ walk form the park gate, so everything is easily accessible. I would recommend staying there for a real genuine friendly Chinese experience.

Carol is the only one that speaks english, and she is absolutely great: she speaks really good english and she will help you to prepare your route in the national park perfectly well. The problem is that they have another hostel too, so when Carol is not there, everything gets complicated because the others doesn't speak any english and they are not really helpful (only the little child, she's the one who at least tries). The "mountain view" means that the mountain is just there, 30 cm away, when you open the window, so there are not views at all, at least in our room. We order dinner one night and it was very expensive for what it was (30 RMB for egg and tomato, and they don't even gave me rice, I had to take ir myself). The room was big and clean, and the bathroom was very big. The hostel seems to be new and it's 5 minutes walking from the park entrance, which is great. And you have a nice terrace to relax.

condition of room is new,well-maintained and comfortable.it's quite near to the city centre (by bus) and there's a bus stop nearby.there's also an english-speaking manager from beijing that assisted us throughout our journey.Her name is Linda Lee.She helped us find an affordable tour around zhangjiajie (chinese language).not only that,she also made sure that we were alright til we left zhangjiajie.overall everything is splendid.
