Traveling to South Korea? Find Tongyeong-si hotels

Hotels right next to the island ferry terminal. Awesome view and peaceful. Three convenient stores nearby. Two incredible seafood Korean restaurants nearby. Young Bin Kwan and Donam restaurant serve oyster pancakes and hotstone rice, raw fish, sea squirt bibimbop. They close early around at 7:30pm. After 7:30pm, there is not much to do and not many places to eat; however, if you like to relax and have a nice view for healing, the hotel is in the right place. Hotel is somewhat outdated but spacious with balconies overlooking the Tongyeong bay. If you are looking for excitement, this is not the place to be. If you are looking for a place to relax, visit the cable car and louge, enjoy Korean seafood, this place is awesome.

We had an enjoyable stay at Benikea Anchovy Hotel. The room was very spacious and the beds very comfortable. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, facing the harbour and within walking distance to several tourist spots and the town market. Many eateries in the neighbourhood. This was our 3rd visit to South Korea and Benikea Anchovy Hotel is definitely one of the best hotel stays we had in the country. We highly recommend this hotel to those visiting Tongyeong.

Five minutes walk to Tongyeong ferry terminal, great if you intend to visit Hansando, Bijindo, etc. Also walking distance to Seoho Traditional Market. If you are a little bit more adventurous you can even reach Gangguan Port on foot. It's about 20 minutes away by car from the bus terminal (approximately KRW 6,500 taxi fare). Room was pretty spacious, bright, and clean. The room was well-equipped with TV, air conditioner, mosquito repellant, refrigerator, kettle, towels, and even a mask! Staff was helpful but lacking in English.

Location - It was great location to travel around tongyeong city. There are many buses go to bus terminal and ferry terminal. Especially, guesthouse is located very calm and beautiful bridge near ocean. you can walk around the guesthouse and get some fresh air. Service - Owner prepared and cooked delicious breakfast every morning and he gave me many suggestion about tour. And every place is very clean and well organized. If you decided to go to Tongyeong. Book this guesthouse.

What do you get for your money in the Hyacinth Pension: 1) A suberb view over the sea which was really outstanding. 2) Very nice staff. When we asked the owners(?) for a restaurant, they were guiding us with their own car to a very good fish restaurant in the neighborhood as they could not speak a single word in English and thus were not able to explain us the way. As also in the restaurant nobody could speak a word in English, they even called a friend who was very good in English just to translate between us and the restaurant waitress. As a result we got a superb fish dinner with local side dishes, simply a phantastic and delicious experience. A service I never experienced bevore. 3) The room (studio) had a completely furnished kitchen and was very clean and cosy. What you should not expect: 1) The location is not central, so you need a car to go anywhere from that place (restaurant, shopping,...) 2)The bathroom was a bit small with the shower not separated from the rest of the bathroom. That is the main reason why I personally would not rate a 9,1, but a little bit less 3)No elevator, so be careful not to carry too much luggage if you are on a higher floor. Nevertheless the staff immediately offered us to carry the luggage, so that is not a big thing unless you are handicapped in climbing stairs. 4)Absolutely no English. So the bottom line is: If you want to experience real Korea in a beautiful scenery with great local people being kind, helpful and giving everything for their guests and if you want to stay in a very nice and really cosy room (may be for a longer time to get advantage of the kitchen) then this hotel is definetely the right place to stay and the mentioned rating 9,1 is related exactly to that feeling. If you expect a 5 star "Hilton style" hotel in that rural area, better move on ... As we were not on a business trip, but were just traveling through Korea to learn about that country, the Hyacinth pension was definetely a highlight in doing so.

Nice, clean, and comfortable room. We were greeted with a welcome beer after we settled into our room. The ground floor is set up nicely with a stylish and unique seating area where food and drinks are available to enjoy. French press coffee is provided for guests in the morning. The shared bathroom was very clean and well kept and the shower was hot with great water pressure. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the family suite which has a double bed and loft (with floor sleeping) which our children loved. Studio style kitchen met all our needs and the owner was friendly and welcoming. It was quiet,clean and the view was outstanding. Location (on the islet not city of tongyeong) was perfect--you could spend a couple days just exploring the sights on the islet, which is gorgeous. Famous Korean poet/writer museum right next to the pension and a decent mart a few miles down the street. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

I had a really pleasant stay at Yours Guesthouse. Price was affordable, room was clean. I went there during winter and the floor heating was really good. Owner was really friendly and helpful in recommending places of interest and restaurant to us. Owner could speak basic english but we were conversing in Korean most of the time. 10 minutes walk away from the cable car up Mireuksan (the view at the peak of the mountain was breathtaking) Breakfast provided includes fruits, eggs, milk, toast and cereal. There were jams and peanut butter spread for the toast. Would definitely stay at Your Guesthouse if I ever visit Tongyeong again.

After reading the reviews of other travelers we had high expectations of our stay at Episode Guesthouse run by Jeroen. It did, however, exceed our expectations! Jeroen is very friendly and a great host to hang out with. He will make sure you feel comfortable and have a more than pleasant stay at his Guesthouse. We would highly recommend staying here, also because this is a perfect base to explore the nearby islands which are scattered around Tongyeong. We did the hike on Saryang-do, which was an absolute highlight during this trip.
