"we were traveling in and around tarakan for several days (to derawan and back again to tarakan, then to sebatik and back once more to tarakan). over the course of our travels we stayed at several hotels in tarakan and then decided to treat ourselves to the swiss-belhotel for the last few nights. it is by far the best hotel in tarakan! the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the beds are immense. we had the in-room massage service which was very enjoyable. the breakfast buffet filled us up for the day. i was also extremely impressed with the very helpful staff at the hotel and the manager was even kind enough to upgrade our booking to a deluxe room. after this delightful experience, we tried the swiss-belhotel in samarinda which was a real disappointment in comparison. although newer and more modern, the rooms were quite small and the front desk staff was quite unfriendly. if in tarakan, though, be sure to stay at the swiss-belhotel. well worth it! "Excellent Hotel! This is a small hotel but probably the cleanest and newest in Tarakan. The staff was very nice and helpful and the rooms were new and clean. There is a mosque nearby so there will be noisy prayers broadcast but that is the case for most of Tarakan. Excellent Hotel!"

"My room was a great value! Very clean with attached bathroom, very good Wi-Fi in the room as well, comfortable bed, and a nice big window to let in some natural light. The staff at this hotel are absolutely great! Some of the best customer service that I've had. From the owner, to the front desk, restaurant, house keeping, and driver -all of them are better than great! They treated me so well and helped me so many times with information and assistance. I kept extending my stay because I became so comfortable there. The large buffet breakfast was excellent everyday and the items I had from the menu at dinner were also very good. It was always easy to catch a Grab bike if I needed to get around town. I highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Tarakan! If I come back I will certainly stay there again!"

"We stayed here for five nights partly for work but mostly for a holiday. All of the rooms were very clean - nice linen and high quality mattress and pillows. We stayed in one of the executive suites - full of light and very spacious. We were able to relax and really make a home away from home. Morning breakfasts were nice - Indonesian style with rice egg and tofu as well as bread and jam (among other things depending in the chef). Lovely place and lovely staff - We highly recommend it! (Especially executive suite with ocean views!) "
