Stellenbosch hotels & places to stay

De Oude Werf property impresses on every level and we cannot say enough things about this wonderful venue. Nestled and tucked away on a trendy Stellenbosch street, we were warmly welcomed by the manager John and his concierge staff. We even got a tour of the hotel and the hospitality simply amazing. The rooms are out of this world and I leave that for you to find out. Both the bar lounge area and dining room are central focal points for De Oude Werf. On this visit the food manager, Derrick and his capable barman, Wesley spoiled us with cocktails and snacks from the kitchen. We highly recommend two local drinks - the Rooibos Gin, and the Vodka Passionfruit Lemonade. Dinners were amazing and we opted for the De Oude Werf Trio - a medley of Bobotie, Ox-Tail and Chicken Pot Pie - the chef did it justice. Breakfast each morning was simply divine and perhaps the best I have experienced. We will stay here again in the future. I rate this venue 5 stars without pause or hesitation.

Beautiful estate. Lots of features in addition to the wine estate. SO much to do. LOvely wine to taste. Great out doors. U can choose to just sit down, lay back and enjoy the peace by the river, or see birds of prey. The room were really nice as well. Fire place. service was warm and personal. we left the estate with a heavy heart after two days of wonderful stay and sight seeing in stellenbosch. :)

Stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed it. We loved our modern, comfortable apartment and enjoyed playing golf and the very good location which was 10 mins drive to central Stellenbosch and within easy driving distance of many wineries. We liked the ability to self cater and also enjoyed dinner in Chez Shiraz - very nice food, good value and friendly service. We will definitely return.

This boutique hotel ticked all the boxes: excellent friendly service from knowledgeable staff; fittings in the suite, especially the bathroom were excellent, and the breakfasts superb. An excellent location just outside the main town of Stellenbosch that gave good access to many of the regions wineries and restaurants. The views from our balcony and the public rooms were stunning. Would definitely return should we be back in this part of the world.

This hotel is located outside Stellenbosch in a quiet area with beautiful views. The rooms were large and comfortable. The restaurant was good but not of the quality that we anticipated. The breakfast staff unfortunately were offhand and didn't appear to be interested in the guests. This was however in contrast with the evening dining staff who were very pleasant and attentive. The admin staff the rest of the staff were also excellent.

The lodge is ideal for a stay in the area for exploring the wine-growing regions around Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. The rooms are very nice and guarantee a relaxing stay in a very quite facility. The breakfast is great and very delicious, the restaurant offers great meals for dinner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The own wines can be tasted at the "Herenhuis" with an unbelievable scenic view across the surrounding mountains and vineyards. We always would come back in the future.

It's just like your own home bedroom… except that Mars Bars are left on your pillows and there is a little bottle of wine and homemade biscuits left on the dresser! The beds are definitely worth a mention - think perhaps the most comfortable bed i've had in my whole two week stay. Friendly owners and a lovely breakfast spread available. This is in a very quiet neighbourhood - great for sleep but not great for getting into town if you do not have your own transport. The walk of 4 km is mostly along a busy road (which you wouldn't want to walk on during the day let alone the evening) - taxis are also very scarce and therefore prices high - so if you go out for dinner stick to the bottle of water rather than the bottle of grape!

I enjoyed a very nice stay at Lumley's place. On arrival I was surprised to see so many cars and people but it turned out to be the owners Son's 21st birthday. All fine and I settled in for a quiet evening whilst the family celebrations took place. Later in the evening I was then invite dot join them for some unexpected dinner. The owners and the family were very friendly and hospitable and made my stay unique and rather special. After a good sleep and a hearty breakfast sadly I had to leave for the airport !

A gem of a place, and only a 10 minute walk to the town center. The staff and owners went out of their way to make this a fabulous stay and you were made to feel at home. The breakfasts were fabulous, the rooms were a bit small but very cozy and the pool was inviting (even if we didn't use it because it was winter). I would stay at this guesthouse time and time again. Simply perfect!

I was a great stay. The positives are as follows - Exceptional staff performance, great setting on a farm, food was good, and free WIFI. The host went out of her way to accommodate my needs - special dietary and the need to use their business offerings. Specifically the host allowed me to use her boardroom on two occasions, which suited my needs perfectly. Whilst I was in the boardroom, staff would always ask if I needed tea/ water/ meals. The host also gave me a fruit called dragon fruit to take home which grows on their farm. Negatives are as follows - Not much negatives at the establishment. The rooms have a decor that is suited to the location and setting of the establishment, which is not a negative but just an indictor that the decor is a bit dated.

As I was visiting Stellenbosch for a work trip, I needed a place with late check out since my daughter was travelling with me. I emailed several places and only Summerwood replied positively to my request for a late checkout. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful, clean and had comforts such as a fridge (with fresh milk for coffee - never had that before in a hotel room). The property has parking and WiFi was great. There is a pool on the property with rabbits roaming the grounds. They provided free coffee facilities with free candy and cupcakes. The staff thought of everything anyone may need. We would definitely stay there again!

we and another couple stayed at ons genot for four nights and we all enjoyed every minute. we were on a wining and golfing trip and found plenty to occupy ourselves within a few kilometres. ons genot is a few kilometres out of stellenbosch and so private transportation is necessary, although it does supply tranquility and relaxation in its rural setting. our rooms were spacious and clean, with patios with outdoor seating and good quality towels etc - one was an upgrade to air-conitioning the other cooled by a ceiling fan. both worked well. our hosts, marleen and eric, were incredibly helpful on all fronts - eric's it expertise being very useful and marleen's all-round bonhommie contributing to our enjoyment of our stay. on our final morning (we were due to fly home that night) we had arranged to play golf nearby but could get only an early teetime. flight bag storage for the day was no problem and marleen very kindly prepared a generous packed breakfast for the four of us as sustenance during the round - much appreciated, marleen. the radish restaurant (in the grounds) provided excellent food (the steaks, with their sauces were outstanding) in a beautiful setting. a cooked breakfast was also served in the restaurant. the grounds were kept tidy and the pool cleaned of leaves etc each morning.

Our second stay at Kleine Zalze and we'll return again, highly recommend. Great location, with fantastic golf course, outstanding Terroir restaurant and wine tasting all on site. We had a very nice room, with a complimentary bottle of the estate wine, and a balcony giving a view over the estate. The staff were friendly and very helpful, particularly grateful to Dane for his help in booking at tee time at Pearl Valley. Excellent golf course, with interesting layout with water in play on a number of holes, but very playable, great views and beautiful Weaver birds amongst the bird life to be seen. Very good wine complimentary tasting included as part of the rate, and close to the wine estates of Stellenbosch what's not to like about Kleine Zalze.

It was a pleasure to stay at Betty and her husband’s place. Very friendly and helpful people. Personal service you don’t find very often. Nice house, very clean and comfortable room. Great swimming pool, and delicious breakfast. Safe place to park your car. Nothing to complain about. But if you come with a car, it’s best to rent a car with GPS. A little difficult to find the place the first time. Location of the house, approximately 30-35 minuets walk to city center, where you find many good restaurants.

Stellenbosch is a great town to relax in and make a base to explore his part of the country. This is a great B&B Ian central, but quiet location. We liked it better than staying at one of the vineyards, as we had access to all the resturants and shops in Stellenbosch within a few blocks. Lovely rooms and common areas. Very attentive staff and good breakfast. We will stay there again hen we return.

We had a very brief stay overnight at In the Vine, but thoroughly enjoyed it! The pool and surrounding area was lovely to relax in, the room itself was exceptionally comfortable, and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The location is a bit far away from any town center, but is quite close to the airport (what we were looking for given an early morning departure). Highly recommended!
