"Phnom Penh in April is very hot so it was great to go to the town of Sen Monorom and resort of Nature Lodge to experience cooler temperatures. NL is only 5 miniutes or so by tuktuk from the town centre. We walked it a couple of times but a Tuktuk is more comfortable. The host Theresa looked after us and helped us with booking and daily needs. The big communal area was like living in the trees! We had already booked an elephant tour with another operator but Nature Lodge has its own affiliation and I hear its tours are great. We also took a 1/2 day tuktuk tour of the area through NL and we had a great driver and really enjoyed the trip. Because we booked late for Khmer New Year period only a 4 person room was available and though this was more expensive than we wanted to pay, we were very happy with the room. Very spacious with two king sized beds. Good for families. In fact it's like a farm-stay as there are cows and ponies wandering over the extensive grounds. "

"I was not expecting this little gem at the end of a long days ride. Upon arriving at the hotel we were met by one of the owners, an Italian whose name escapes me. The khmer staff were very friendly. We had to climb two sets of stairs to get to our rooms. Room was quite large, I liked the sign with the explanation about the energy efficient light bulbs. Rooms are simple but nice and clean. I got a very nice massage from the onsite masseur who was from Thailand. This was a very nice surprise. The real amazing part of this hotel is the food. it was, amazing. The speck ham and potato dish was great. I would consider travelling from Phnom Penh just to eat here again! Well worth it, pizza good, service with smile. Another big thing for me was the friendly owner and his extremely positive attitude. As we had come with motorbikes, the owner very generously allowed us to park them in reception over night. Breakfast was great the next day, I will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends!"

"We spent a few days in Sen Monorom mainly to visit the Elephant Valley Project but also to see other local sights and visit a local village. Our choosing Mayura Hill Resort as our base was a great choice. It is a bit out of town but between the staff helping and a cheap yuk-yuk ride that was never a problem. Our room was very comfortable and had a very pleasent balcony outside. The pool was well maintained and a welcome treat at the end of the day. Sitting with a quiet drink on the resorts main balcony and watching the local birdlife was a daily treat. Food at the resort was good but the best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone was friendly and had a smile - from the gardeners to the resturant to the room staff - everyone was helpful. From showing us what and how to eat the fruit growing around the resort to helping organise tour and busses they were all great. Well done Daly! "
