Mossel Bay hotels & places to stay

I cannot speak too highly about our stay at African Oceans. The staff very excellent, so we'll trained and so very helpful. The accommodation was spotless and our room had everything that one would expect in a top class hotel.. Breakfast were excellent and any item required, if not in stock, was provided within a few hours. I would highly recommend African Oceans as a place to stay if visiting any where near Mossel Bay.

The hotel is not a 5 star hotel and the location is not of the best but not to bad either. We were 6 couples but the staff was excellent. This makes you realize that there is no need to have the best of everything but if you have people that cares about you and try to satisfy every need you have then you'll have a fantastic holiday. Thank you very much we really appreciate what you did for us. We will definitely come and visit again.

Dana Bay Guest house is hosted by a wonderful, friendly and loving couple. They remembered a special request about allergies to down that most hotels can't seem to get right. The breakfast was really special and far beyond our expectations. We found the room lovely, with a view of the ocean and so much attention to detail. It's clear that they have put such love and attention into their guest house. Really it was a steal for what we received. I don't think the pictures do it justice and the view from the breakfast room is superb. Watched guinea fowl and her baby and all sorts of other birds while we ate... just a wonderful stay at a rock bottom price!

I travel frequently and took up the Protea recommendation from a South African friend of mine - bottom line is i would recommend this to anyone in this area and are new to Mossel Bay. The proprietor JJ and Ronel do an amazing job with this venue. It starts with the reception and cascades through to their restaurant and bar area too. I was upgraded as a Marriott member to a larger room which didn’t hurt so grateful for that. Highlights I would add: Walk the local Main Street outside the hotel Visit the Kaai 4 restaurant outside the hotel grounds for authentic South African braai (you can walk) There is complimentary sherry upon reception Overall a winner for the area.

We booked this accommodation for a break along the Garden route on way to Cap St Francis. We didn't play golf nor did we intend to, the club house is beautiful and very affordable for dinner, facilities in the apartment were good. Shuttle bus if needed and casino around the corner for those who want to have a flutter. All in all even if you dont play golf it was a great place to stay

Once again we had a great time in Mossel Bay and staying at the Diaz Strand Hotel completes the experience. Stunning views and enjoy and soak up the beauty of the ocean from your balcony. Fall asleep with the sound of the ocean. Fantastic staff and a great overall experience. Halaal breakfast available on request, when you book. Thats for a great time. Will definitely return again.

Had the lowest Agoda rating of places stayed in but found to be best value for money place stayed in. Recently repainted so that is probably why lower rating. Small TV in rooom only small nagative. As with most venues in Mossel Bay which is basically a steep hill , there are 3 levels with stairs. If you get the spectacular views from e.g. Number 10 when lying in bed no-one would care unless infirm . Then would not be able to cope

Petra has made this the best possible B&B in Mossel Bay or even in the whole South Africa!!! Spacious room with large patio direct access to beautiful garden. Beautiful and comfortable room, very friendly host, lovely breakfast in the morning with a magnificent view over the bay from the dining room. I must say Petra paid attention in every small details and ensure that her guests feel comfortable at home. We enjoyed every moment during our stay and totally impressed by the services provided !! Guys, this is highly recommended accommodation in Mossel Bay.

Yohann was very kind and welcoming and even upgraded my room which was such a pleasant surprise since I had been on the road for a long time and it was so nice to have my own room and bathroom for once. He provided great detail about local eats and attractions and very kindly drove me to the bus port even though the bus was at 3am in the morning. His kindness and generosity will always be one of my favourite memories about mossel bay

Booked in for 3 nights, but left 1 day early. I dont think that I will recommend the Riviera Hotel. We have always wanted to visit this Hotel, thought we'd treat ourselves as we used to camp at the ATKV when we were children, and often stayed at their bungalows. On arrival we were not made to feel very welcome, the entrance and the accommodation looks like it needs some maintenance work to brighten it up, the room was very cold and dark. There was no shower door on the shower, was not made aware of it until I mentioned it to them the next day. It could do with a safe, like most hotels have, to put away valuables. Anita Burger

The guesthouse is located in Dana Bay, a peaceful neighbouringh composed of beatiful villas and houses on the garden route coast, 10 minutes driving from Mossel Bay centre. It's particularly adapt if you have a car to reach it, while if you are by bus can be more complicated. In any case, a free mini-bus (operated by restaurants owner) can bring you to centre (and return) for dining in a wide choiche of different nice restaurants, without need to drive in the night. It's a real bed and breakfast, located in the house of a nice and helpful couple, composed by a few rooms, completed with facilities (bathroom, hair-dryer, fridge), any distingueshed by particular paintings or old rememberings of the owner, with very familiar atmosphere. Only would be useful to check some windows, as in the winter can be windy outside; the panorama from the terrace is very nice, with wievs overlooking the magnificent sea (you could also spot whales if you have a binocular).

I was due to stay at B@Home for one night of a business trip last week. Having read good reviews prior to booking, I was horribly disappointed with the welcome and service. I ultimately decided not to stay the night. I generally like to stay in guesthouses because they feel more like home than hotels and I enjoy the personal touch. The manager answered when I rang the bell and after I struggled with the door he came to open for me. I was balanced precariously on the stairs between my suitcase and laptop bag with a shopping bag over my shoulder. When the door opened I put my laptop bag on the stairs through the door and reached back to get my suitcase then tried to figure out how best to carry everything. The manager just watched me, without a word of welcome and with no offer to assist me. Eventually I asked him to please go ahead and let me take my time up the stairs with my bags. When I got inside I was putting my bags down when he held out the keys – I wasn’t quite sure how to grab them with my hands full – and told me to fill out the check in form. Another couple had arrived before me and they were all sitting in the lounge area. I got the feeling that I was interrupting something. I picked up my bags again and at this stage he asked me when I wanted breakfast. I was quite frustrated and asked him to show me to my room before we spoke about breakfast. I decided to leave and have a cup of coffee in town while I thought about what I wanted to do. I decided to make alternative arrangements because I felt that if I needed anything during my stay, it was unlikely the manager would be very helpful. I went back to the guesthouse, collected my bags and gave the manager the keys. He was sitting with the other guests around a computer. I said that I had decided not to stay. He shrugged his shoulders and said “All good” and I left. I subsequently requested a refund of my money having outlined my experience and was told that the costs were my responsibility.

Great location, supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants next door and many others within easy walking distance, from 1minute to 5minutes. The Blue Shed Coffee is a must. Great staff, very helpful and friendly, 5 stars all the way. Great hostel. Short & long walks/hikes close by. Fantastic coastal views. Safe town in SA terms. Totally recommend and would stay again and again.

Friendly staff with tips about how to get around town. Hard working and accommodating! Hostel is part of Hotel Portao Diaz. They share the same pool and public space. Public areas are nicely designed and you can see the bay from the deck area. Hostel rooms are on the ground floor and hotel rooms on the higher floors; similar pricing for hostel and hotel. Highly recommend the breakfast cooked on an open fire. Con is that you cannot really walk into town safely; all staff recommend taking a taxi the short distance to the beach or city center. Uber doesn't function in Mossel Baai.

I can't think of anything that could have been better. It was all perfect. There was nothing not to like. The comfort and service were second to none. The staff were seeing to your every need, before you even realized you needed something. The friendliness of the staff was amazing. I will definitely be returning. Very different to other places I have stayed at times when traveling. That alone would make me return. Max B
