Where to stay in Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang hotels & accommodations
I celebrated my birthday in Luang Prabang last April and the staff prepared a small surprise for me. I fell in love with Luang Prabang and the hospitality of the Lao people. I am a frequent solo traveler and my experience has been enhanced by the kindness and hospitality of the My Dream staff. The rooms and facilities are to die for. The room is well-maintained and ke...
Our stay at the Villa Maly helped create a wonderful overall experience in Luang Prabang. From the time we arrived, we knew we would have an enjoyable stay what with the friendly staff, cold towels, refreshing drinks and daintily presented nuts. We ate several times in the hotel not just for the convenience but because we really liked the food and ambience. Our rooms w...
We stayed for four nights at the Pullman and had a fantastic time. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They really go the extra mile for their guests! The room was spotless! The restaurant at the resort was very good and extremely reasonable. The general manager, Denis, was terrific. He always took time out of his busy schedule to say hello and to make sure ever...
We recently stayed at the Kiridara Hotel in Luang Prabang and had a fabulous time in this boutique hotel. The hotel is set on a hill with lovely views towards the town and of the mountains. We were greeted with efficient, smiling and friendly staff for our whole 3 days (who enjoyed our attempts at speaking a Thai version of the Laos language.) An extra bed and towels ...
The location of this hotel is lovely, set on a hill just outside the town with amazing views of the town and surrounding mountains. The hotel is quite new so our room was very comfortable and in good condition. The staff were all fantastic, particularly the general manger, and they went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Despite the level of English varyin...
We decided to travel to Luang Prabang from South Africa for our annual holiday and stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. Everything was amazing from the extremely friendly staff to the clean and comfortable rooms to the great breakfast (make sure you include this in your package as it is worth it). The hotel has a lovely pool (which very few hotels in Luang Prabang has) a...
We got an exclusive deal from this Luang Prabang Legend Hotel via Agoda, so we were indeed happy and felt that we have had the most valuable deal for this stay. Good aspects about this place: New hotel, nice design, short walk to the main tourist street, good staff and management, all friendly and welcoming atmosphere, serve variety of breakfast with good taste. We def...
We arrived here at 11:30pm after a long bus journey, and were immediately made to feel welcome, with welcome drinks and tips on where to get dinner at that hour. The grounds were truly amazing - it was like an enchanted garden. The room was perfect. Breakfast was good every morning (the home made jam is addictive!). No complaints at all. We stayed several days ...
We were very happy to have chosen Satri House over other nice hotels in Luang Prabang. Our room is very spacious and beautifully decorated. And it was spotlessly clean. The bed is very comfortable. Every member of the staff is friendly and willing to do whatever they can to make guests happy. The manager is particularly helpful. The architecture and the ambience make ...
This property is absolutely beautiful and the location is excellent. Walking distance to pretty much everything you need to see in Luang Prabang. The Deluxe rooms are well-designed but small. We stayed in one overlooking the pool, and it has a lovely balcony to enjoy coffee and the view. Bathroom shower makes loud noises (on and off) but not an issue if it doesnt bo...
A very beautifully decorated and located boutique Hotel in Luang Prabang Rooms are spacious and clean and the pool area is very relax Breakfast is fantastic with Laos style arrangement. Services and Staff are very helpful with fantastic warmly welcome and hospitality. One of the best Hotel in Luang Prabang I would recommend.
From our welcome to our departure this was a home from home. All the staff were smiley and took time to talk to us at every opportunity, guiding us over transport and local sights. The food was excellent and well presented using many if the products grown on site. The home made yoghurt with honey and local fruits was a particular hit at breakfast. Although for lunch...
This hotel was a place I first stayed at in 1997, when it was one of only a few hotels in town. They have consistently upgraded to stay in the top rank of hotels in Luang Prabang. Everything from check in to check out was handled very efficiently, the room was spacious and comfortable, clean and quiet.Their location is one of the best in town, close to all the major at...
Awesome! I feel in love with Indigo House. It's a bit pricey for hotel in the areas. I was reluctant to book from the many different reviews from the many different website, but decided to book at the last minute while in Luang Prabang because other hotels I want are booked. It was my destined and I book for one night until the other hotel would have room available. On...
many of my friends had stayed here and raved about this luxury hotel, but i was always reluctant to stay at a self-contained resort outside of town because i so enjoy being in the centre of luang prabang. on this holiday my friend and i chose the best of both worlds -- three nights at the three nagas right in the centre followed by one night of total pampering at la re...
Le Sen isn't just a place for you to sleep at night. It's more of a sanctuary for when you need a break from your day trips, all that walking around town, and a temporary home at the end of every day. It's not exactly close to the main parts of town, which is actually a good thing. It's still walkable from downtown Luang Prabang, or you can get someone to call the fron...
The New Daraphet Hotel in Luang Prabang is ideally located near the night market and just a short stroll to the river. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly with quite good english. The restaurant was open for breakfast (included in the tariff) and then again later in the day to serve evening meals till quite late. A cheap and pleas...
I stayed for two nights during Pi Mai (Lao New Year) after moving out of a hostel on the Main Street. I can honestly say this was the best position for the festival. It was still on the peninsula so I felt fully involved with the celebrations but far away enough so that I could sit on my balcony and enjoy the views and read a book. The rooms are exceptionally beautiful...
The Hotel Luang Prabang is a splendid refuge in Luang Prabang. The rooms are spacious (belying its origins as a colonial prison), beautifully designed, and immaculately kept. Some rooms offer less light than others; however, the heat is a good reason to err on the side of 'dark'. As I was staying for 9 nights and planned to work for much of my visit, I was upgraded to ...
Luang Prabang is a wonderful town with fabulous temples and wonderful french colonial architecture. The hotel is very close to the center of the town where you will find the Museum and Night market. Better restaurants are a little ways away (about 15 minutes walk and further). The hotel also gives close access 25 m to an Arts center. Highly recommended town and the hot...
i've stayed in most of the higher end hotels in luang prabang, and this is by far my favourite. the service is the best i've experienced anywhere in luang prabang - the staff are very friendly and welcoming, nothing is a bother and eduard is particularly exceptional. the food is great too - the eggs benedict for breakfast are divine, and i became addicted to the risott...
Stayed in 3 hotels (other 2 were four star hotels) in Luang Prabang and this is the best of them all in my opinion. Not only it is cheap, but the rooms are HUGE and very clean as well. The staffs are very friendly and polite and the breakfast is pretty tasty honestly. Location is also good and close to the old quarters and night market. I would stay here again if I vis...
This is one of the hotel where picture form the website does not lie. There are many hotels where picture from the web looks so much better than the room but in this hotel, it is not the case. In fact, the actual look of the room and overall feel is better than the picture seen on the website. The room is not large but not too small either. Despite not being large, it...
I’ve stayed at many hotels in Luang Prabang and this has been one of the best places to stay. Had a wonderful stay. Staff was the best and room was beyond perfect. Will stay here again.
Cheap places to stay in Luang Prabang
This is technical review to know what you should expect from sysomphone: Pros: 1. Behind other luxury hotel managed by same team; and they openly invited us to enjoy brilliant river view and other facilities in luxury hotel (like juice, POS, first aid) They provided us more than expected. free of charge tea, instant coffee, great pancake on break fast with milkshakes....
Without a doubt the best value for money in Laos. Location is perfect - right in downtown. All rooms have A/C and are comfortable. Plenty of toilets and showers. Free breakfast with 6 choices plus small serving of fruit. Free drinking water - only place in Laos I've seen that gives you free drinking water. Restaurant/chillout area on groundfloor sells cold large bottle...
This is the cheapest place I could find in Luang Prabang city centre. It's around 5 min walk to night market and other tourist spots. The hostel in general is clean, still the toilet and shower room can be improved. The staffs are super helpful, he helped with calling the airlines to change my flight date and finding my friend's lost and delivering it to another pers...
staff real friendly, help with places to go and local booking, short walk to night market. not overly crowded hostel. most all things with in walking distance or all tours from town pick you up at hostel or hotels always. nice quiet getaway from the party hostels
Me and girlfriend were recommended this hostel by a fellow traveller and we could'nt have been more happier! The whole place is beautifully decorated with bamboo and has a real homey feel to it. I would go as far as saying its one of the best hostels ive ever stayed in. The staff went above and beyond to help us. We booked a 3 day slowboat/minivan trip to Chiang Mai fr...
Y-Not hostel was great! Really! I was very fortunate to find such a great place at this affordable price! The hostel was very clean and perfectly comfortable! Kehn (the owner), worked in the hotel/hospitality business since he was 16 years old, moved his way up to management at a hotel, and now opened his own hostel! He put a lot of time and effort into Y-Not and his ha...
I have stayed in 5 not expensive hostels in Luang-Prabang. This one is really the best: good breakfast, rooftop place, clean rooms.
Service is friendly and the hostel easy to go the landmark in Luangprabang city.
This was by far one of my best accommodation experiences. The rooms are very clean, the hotel is in a perfect location, there is a great lounge area to meet other travelers, and the staff makes you feel like part of their family! Such a sweet family that owns this hotel. I want to go back to Luang Prabang just so I can stay here with them again! Highly recommend!!
the owner kan is a really cool guy who is very young and it seems like he caters to a younger crowd. he helped me with everything i needed from bargaining for soccer jerseys to booking tickets to vang vieng and riding elephants. he also had a bbq one of the nights we were there. my iphone was stolen in pakse and he alllowed me to use his computer and check my email and...
I enjoyed my stay a lot. This is probably the best value hostel in Luang Prabang. The staff are all nice and willing to assist. The location is excellent, not in front of the busiest street so it's quiet but close enough that it's still easily accessible. I would only suggest that they replace some of the mattresses in the fan rooms since these have been used so freque...
The room is so comfortable, and stuff always cotrol to clean each room. We can use air condition any time when you need it. Stuff is very kindnest and friendly. I love these guys. I could spend good time here with them. I want to come back again when I go Luang Prabang.
Location : 10 mins away from the centre of Luang Prabang by walk / Cleanness : Too much hair, ants on the floor in my room / Bed was like some sitting cushion which means it's not a mattress. No A/C in dorm. The light is really dark. Plus, the owner was so nice and the vibes near the hotel was pretty decent.
Sometimes when I find a cheap hostel including breakfast, I am afraid to end up in a weird place. Here I was pleased and surprised for what I got ! Only drawbacks: They recently added two showers, it’s still not enough in my opinion but it’s ok if you wake up early enough. Multiple choices for breakfast, good pancakes ( 8.000kip if not included ). All day coffee and t...
We had a great stay in room 3 and found the location perfect for wandering around Luang Prabang. Staff were always very kind and helpful - thank you!
Pretty dark and gloomy place. The guesthouse, like many others in Luang Prabang, is a converted household. The owner runs the place with his wife and child. The good. It's right across the Mekong River. The bad The owner didn't seem happy all the time. The ugly It's dark and gloomy The verdict Find somewhere else.
Very nice hotel, very well located. Comfortable. Clean. Personal EXCELLENT. Big and good bed. Big bathroom. Safe. Peaceful. Absolutely NOT noisy. Good breakfast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Of course will be my first option my next time in Luang Prabang.
The location of the Matata is close to good restaurants and a short walk from the central street. At night, everything is silent and the bed is really comfortable so it is easy to get a good nights sleep. If you stay during the week, there is a school located directly next door that practices perpetual recess - be prepared for really noisy kids starting around 8am for...
Mercure Hideaway is a really nice place to stay. The rooms are large with high ceilings and comfy beds. We had a room facing the large pool and it was quiet and well appointed. the grounds are very plush and cocktails on the private beach for sunset are a must. The staff were pretty good and everything we asked about was dealt with promptly. We did not take tours with ...
shower in the room but toilet seperate which i prefered, cool theme didnt get the free breakfast because we had to leave 5am.. we booked this hotel 5 mins before turning up so they didnt really understand but nice rooms the vibe is amazing
This was a great budget option in Luang Prabang. Our bus was 4 hours late and there was still someone who was waiting for us at 2AM. Rooms are basic but clean, and include WiFi and A/C.
Our group of three people went to Luang for our first trip together and had just the BESTEST time there partially thanks to Apple Guest house. I loved everything about Apple GH, which is not a hyperbole. Its location makes every destination on our itinerary a walking distance, the wats, the National Museum, the bamboo bridges, the Phou Si hill, Dao Fa pub - best local...
Our stay here was amazing! The room was very large, spacious and clean. There was also a TV with decent HBO channels. A warm, very large shower. My only regret is that we didn't find it until our last few nights in Luang Prabang. A few minutes walk outside the center, but conveniently close to the #1 bar/restaurant utopia. Would recommend to anyone.
Stayed 3 nights here .. one of oldest guesthouses in Luang Prabang. Lovely family style guesthouse ... very polite & helpful family ;) Tucked in a quiet neighbourhood ... but still a stone's throw away from morning & night market n very near Mekong river. If you are lucky you may get to see their teenage kids n friends practicing traditional music & dance on the week...
We paid USD 264.92 for 4 nights in a King Room with balcony (Rm 105). The shower here is to die for and looks over the Mekong (yes you can see out from the shower but are discretely covered 😊. Easily the best that I have had in my travels through Asia. I would come back here for that alone. The views from the room itself are outstanding. Amenities included hairdryer, ...

Loads of charm (teak house), really helpful owner and staff, rooms were exactly as offered on website (a rare occurrence in my experience over the years). Couldn't be better. Great for Mekong riverside restaurants & access to all the places of interest in Luang Prabang UNESCO area. Were we to return we'd definitely book this place again. (I broke my ankle whilst I was...
I take three days in this guesthouse when I was in Luang Prabang. Compared with other guesthouse, the price is not really cheap but the environment is really good. This guesthouse locates near the Nam Khan river and contains a lovely balcony in the riverside. It is a very good experience to have a breakfast in the early morning and enjoy the relaxing river view in the ...
We booked a riverview with balcony. First room water heating shower not working. Only cold water. TV for show, but not working, antenna cable cut. Changed room next day. Good hot water shower, but no TV and again cut antenna cable. I come on holiday to watch TV anyway, but the manager said TVs not work. Even though cable TV advertised on Agoda. Both room aircond units ...

A really great hotel in Luang Prabang. Expensive but worth to pay for. Really excellent staff, excellent breatfast. Staff tries to organize everything you ask for. Nice location just across the river (house boot takes the customer to the center within one minute).
This hotel was the perfect location for our family to enjoy Luang Prabang during Songkran. We visited the morning and night markets daily as the hotel is located just steps from each. We walked with our two young children to lunch and dinner at nearby restaurants and visited local cultural sites all within walking distance of the hotel. The room was perfect with 2 ...
This resort is beautiful with views over the Mekong. The staff are warm and friendly and the manager, Kim is fantastic and will help with suggestions of where to go. Put this resort anywhere else and the price per room would be at least double, but it's location makes it a bit of a problem. It is located on the other side of the river to the main town of Luang Prabang...
My friends and I stayed in the Sunset Villa, which is a 15-20 minute walk from the Night Market or a 3-5 minute tuk tuk ride. This was a hidden gem and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luang Prabang because you will probably not stay at a place like it that you can well afford. The Sunset Villa is on a side street from the main road. The hotel consists ...
We stayed 3 nights at Sada Hotel and were very pleased with all aspects of our time there. We were met at the airport and transported to the hotel. On arrival we were met by the manager, whom throughout our stay was professional, friendly, and very helpful. Our room as very nice. The bathroom could perhaps be a little more modern, however overall the room and its de...
stayed here for 4 nights recently. we had come in from thailand on a horrible bus trip and were looking for a nice place to set down and relax. found this hotel on agoda and jumped on it. rooms are well appointed with lovely furnishings and design. only flaw was that we ants constantly in the bathroom and eventually in our luggage. pool and amenities were fantas...
We did everything we wanted in Luang Prabang and then came here to rest and chill by the pool. It was lovely, the pool was great and the rooms lovely. Lady as reception was very helpful and could speak English. Nice to chill out for a couple of days yet loacted close enough to get the the main street for the night market,
The Sanakeo Boutique in Luang Prabang is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in a long time. The hotel is well run, clean, in a great location (it is only a short tuk tuk ride away from the main part of town), has great facilities (loved the pool), and the service was amazing too. From the moment I was picked up from the airport to the moment I was departing from L...
We have stayed in Mekong Estate 5 nights from 8th to 13th December 2017 and it was unforgettable experience. The place is colonial style separate houses and apartments directly on Mekong river side. The place respects the Luang-Prabang colonial style and the location with fantastic view on Mekong river creates authentic atmosphere. The breakfast is served “a la carte” ...
Housed in a fantastic old building over looking the main Luang Prabang town Jing Land is full of character and appeal. Do not be put off by the walk up the hill which merely removes you from the hubbub of the town without taking you out of it. Fittings are very nice, however modern realities are such that the the weak wifi or lack of internet in some evenings was frust...
Loved everything about this Hotel except the location. Unfortunately it was a little bit out of the action for us. We wanted to be located centrally in Luang Prabang so that we could just walk everywhere but you have to take a tuk tuk into town (which the hotel provides complimentary which is great). I would stay there again for the pool as they are to come by in Luan...
Great, comfortable, large room. A great pool area as well. This hotel is specifically geared towards groups of Chinese tourists. It could be romantic for couples who want a quiet place with a pool; but not of interest for other types of travelers. The hotel is in a quiet, distant place; not very close to the cultural town of Luang Prabang. This was very disappoint...
Best staff (Tui in particular) & hospitality ever, definitely 5 stars; swam everyday in the beautiful swimming pool overseeing old French bridge n river; used their free bikes for sightseeing. They provide 4-5 shuttles everyday to night market. Guests normally ate out but the food in restaurant n poolside was excellent n reasonably priced.
Luxury hotels in Luang Prabang
This is a beautiful hotel set in the middle of paddy fields. High quality rooms and equipment. Staff were excellent and very attentive. The hotel is about 5 kilometres from Luang Prabang. There is a free shuttle service to town which is good. It would be even better if it was more frequent, particularly in the evening. The only negative thing about the hotel is that ...

This hotel is one of the surprises we had in Luang Prabang. The whole area is of good old charm, well designed landscape and fantastic view from windows / balcony. Services are very good and comfortable. Management and staff are very friendly and helpful. With almost personal shuttle service, its distance (20-30min walk) from town center didn't become an issue.

It was actually house. But I got to say it is way more better than five star hotel. I have been Laos last year also, and I stayed really expensive hotel. But this villa is another level. A new gem has been found. Located 10 minutes drive from town, close but not to far, the landscape of the resort is ideal, with a small river and waterfall running through. Room design and decoration are jaw dropping. Laotian food is very tasty and price affordable. This resort has set new high standard for luxury resort in Luang Prabang.

Very interesting city - waterfall, Mekong, elephant villages, the city itself. Nightlife non existent (curfew.
Mature well travelled couple and although the area is stunningly beautiful were disappointed at how touristy and expensive LP was.
You should be relax and dont rush your times in Luang Prabang, this is really a relax place to cool you down.
Luang Prabang is such a tourist trap. Everything is so expansive compare to Vientiane. Everything is designed to get money from tourists, including the temples, restaurants, cafes, bridges.
Extremely small but cute and attractive old city of the world heritage. We can reach everywhere by walk within 10-20 min.
Very nice city - although too many tourists like us. Town and surroundings very interesting. Very relaxing site.
Friends had already recommended Luang Prabang and I was not disappointed. After the hustle-bustle of cities and the tourist highway of for instance, Siem Reap Luang Prabang is QUIET.
It is a great place to visit, in the city for its UNESCO World Heritage sites and outside the city for outdoor activities (Kuangsi Waterfall, Elephant Camp, Butterfly Park, slow boat ride, Pak Ou Cave Buddhist shrine, etc.
Luang Prabang is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on this planet. An almost hidden oasis which is simply enchanting.
It's a UNESCO city, recommend the early morning alms activity. Try local foods, local lifestyle, it's an active city.
It is a place where you can be slow life, enjoy the way local people do, try the local food, visit so many temple around Luang Prabang.
Unique architecture of all her buildings. Those interested in history. Place for relaxation, shopping, spas and dining.
This is a Unesco Heritage site so the town is just lovely. It is the Carmel of Laos. We loved seeing the monks early in the morning, the wats and the highlight was going to an elephant refuge to feed and bath the elephants.
Luang Prabang has a lot to offer to any traveler: Mekong river front, restaurants, spas, waterfalls, elephant's ride.
One of the best cities I have visited in Old Indochina region. Great place to relax, sightseeing, food etc.
It is a lovely city with cultural richness. Nice walking around for sightseeing, particularly cultural aspect.
Very unique venue to visit and "stay-awhile". Walk away from the main "touristy" area over the "old bridge" and observe what conditions were really like before the heritage designation.
Nice looking town which leaves you with creepy impression because of how they run things in strange ways.
How long you should stay in Luang Prabang is all about personal taste. I have been her many times and sometimes a month.
We were able to organise trips, travel and activities very easily. We had a great time trekking, on a slow boat up the Mekong, many many restaurants serving delicious food, especially local Laos cuisine.
It's such a peaceful place surrounded by mountains. It's safe and people are genuinely kind and friendly.
Luang Prabang is a very well developed tourist destination based on the world heritage listed old town, the protection means it has not been spoiled by over development and it still retains a nice small town feel.
This was our second visit to Luang Prabang ... Love the place...awesome night markets...quirky laneways with a lot of accommodation available
Ville magique dans les brumes du Mékong, en haut du mont Phou Si et au petit matin pour l offrande aux moines
Firstly, as a solo female traveller, I felt pretty safe in Luang Prabang. I enjoyed my night strolls and even walking from the city all the way to the airport.
Beautiful city but a lot of trash especiallynear the river, i think the townhall needs to take good care of the city and keep it clean, but unfornately we saw a lot of trash in every town or city in Laos.
There is a lot to see in and around Luang Prabang. I stayed at an elephant sanctuary about 30 minutes from the Town Center and loved every minute of it.
We made this a base for a multiday bike trip. After we returned did a day trip to see the Buddha caves then visited the Kuangsi Waterfalls which was really wonderful --several Multics tiered waterfalls and nice swimming area.
Just walk and enjoy al the nature and oud buildings, clean streets, see the beautifull tempels, sit at the mekong Riverside and enjoy daylife on the Mekong and see the sunset.
Luang Prabang is such a delightful little town! We were pleasantly surprised at every turn! The French colonial style mixed with the Buddhist influence, and the natural jungle/river/mountain scenery makes for such a relaxing, lovely place! We only stayed 2 days, but would love to go back! Everything was just so darn cute and pleasant!
