Where to stay in Kobe
Kobe hotels & accommodations
The lobby is spectacular. The restaurant also has a great view of the bay. It is near the Earthquake Institute which is a must see in Kobe. The staff is very friendly and professional. The Bell Captain who assisted us was very fluent in English. They also recommended one of the best Kobe Beef restaurants in Japan which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hotel Okura has lots of am...
We stay only one night in Kobe and this station is directly across from the local JR station, not Shin-Kobe station. If you arrive at Shin-Kobe station you take another JR Line to this one. After traveling for two weeks in Japan, this hotel ended up being one of our most comfortable stays. The bed is very comfortable and the hotel provides a hairdryer, razor, shampoo...
The hotel itself is sited right next to the water. 5 minute walk to the Mosaic Plaza and 1 minute walk to the city look bus stop 1. I have to say the location couldn't be better. We booked for a deluxe King room and the moment we stepped into the room was amazed. The floor to ceiling window looked out to Kobe tower, the pier, the sea and the Mosaic Plaza. The room is ...
Brand new hotel in Kobe. Rooms were spacious, breakfast buffet was varied daily & delicious! Location was excellent & close to shopping areas. Transportation was right across the street from the hotel. Soaking in their onsen after a day of shopping was great too!
I really enjoyed my stay for about a week, during which I tried two restaurants and the pool almost every day. Although I had imagined the comfy room from other reviews, the two restaurants on the 3rd floor(the same level as the lobby) were a great surprise being far above my expectation since I happened to use them to avoid a bus trip to Sannomiya. Also, the pool wa...
This is my first time to kobe and am so glad that I had chosen this Hotel, will definitely recommend this Hotel to everyone. It's one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed, great onsens especially the one on the second floor, very thoughtful amenities for elderly and disables e.g. benches in lifts and even push trolleys for guests to carry food at buffets. Sumptious ...
The hotel location is amazing you are two blocks from Sannomiya and just beside a Daiso store and supermarket. You can go to any place in Japan and go back without worry! Sannomiya is a must stop station! The hotel has a very good structure and security, the breakfast is the best of Kobe! You have a mix of Japanese and American breakfast so you will have no problem t...
We were there a bit early because we didn't know that the check in time in Japan is 15:00. So, after a waiting, the staffs came to apologised and led us to the room. They always practiced their Japanese gesture and manner to us, very polite. My fiancé got some souvenirs and a ride to the elevator. The room was quite big, 10 Tatami mats with the living room, toilet, ba...
Hotel Monte Hermana Amalie is Really the best hotel So far I travel in Japan. And surprisely is really cheap as well. The room is quite big, with comfortable bed. Everything is clean and neat. Very good location. Just beside the Ikuta temple(生田神社), easy to find. 8-10 mins walking from Hansin and JR sanmiya station. 3 mins walking from Metro sannomiya station. It's wal...
10 mins walk from JR Kobe with streets of izakaya (Japanese cafe) that open till late. Kobe Station has a small mall and also few JR stops to Sannomiya - shopping district with cheap street shopping or malls like Daimaru, Oioi (highly recommended for ladies), Loft (check out the cosmetics here it's HUGE and empty so you can take your time to try all makeup. Unlike the ...
I reserved two 2 person rooms with private hot spring in room (open air bath) with kaiseki meal for one night. They served the 4 of us in one of the rooms so we could enjoy the meal together. Food had many courses and was very delicious, we were full by the end of our meal. We had a massage chair that felt so nice. After dinner, they set up our beds on the tatami mats...
Nice hotel in Kobe. Located near to JR Station. The best part is located 10-15 minutes from the Mosque. We stayed at the B Kobe Hotel for 3 nights. The staff speaks English quite well. The hotel is clean. In front of the hotel, there is family mart, and we can find so many Restaurant serves Kobe beef. 10 minutes from the Hotel, we also can find halal Indian food and h...
Great stay in the regular room which always features two queensize beds, bathtub and normally fine views (I find cityview most interesting, but opinions differ). With a large sofa and very nice colonial-asian furnishings, it is arguably the best hotel in Kobe for busiess or pleasure (provided you do not need a pool). The water terrace is great for Tapas and Beer, when ...
Basically, this is a top tier hotel. No complaints at all. Totally worth the money for any occasion. We were able to book a hotel room during the Japanese Golden Week holiday and it worked out no problem. The one little draw back is that you have to be aware of the tram that connects mainland Kobe with the island the Portopia sits on. If you are in Kobe to party and ...
We booked a room with an open air and half board included. The room was huge and clean, with 2 sink area and a shower room that has a bathtub. Open air Hot spring tub was big enough for 2. There's privacy but no scenery to enjoy. Food was tasty and we were served Kobe beef. Customer service can be better, staff did not seem to be as smiley and friendly as what we were ...
New Hotel with good service. The room has nice interier , big flat TV and very comfy bed. The location is very good, next to Sannomiya bus station and JR line. Easy to go back to Osaka or Kyoto by JR line. Or take a Express bus to Arima onsen for 780 yen with 30 mins ride, very fast. If you’re coming from Shin-Kobe station with Shinkansen train, you need to use local ...
Tosen Goshobo is the 2nd hotel I lived when I was at Yuma hot spring. The first one was a 5 star hotel (I won't mention the name in here) but I like Tosen Goshobo more than the other one and I would definitely recommend to everyone. Tosen Goshobo is a japanese style hotel that everything was beyond what I expected. Especially for the 105 mins Aroma therapy massage...
I came to Kobe for a concert and booked 2 nights at the hotel. The location is so close to the concert venue (Kobe Kokusai Hall). Barely walk for 5 mins and already reach the venue. The location also quite near for some tourist attractions such as Kobe Port and Meriken Park. It also walking distance to Tor Road (where we had Kobe Beed there). The room also spacious and...
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Areaone Kobe, its location is very tourist friendly since its walking distance to many establishments and train station. The staff are very helpful and the food are delicious. Though the room area is small is not a big factor since it's very clean and cozy. We will surely book this hotel again when we visit Kobe.
Services:Good service with kindness staffs. Especially for the Chinese guy who helped us with full of patience. Facilities:In spite of the facilities of the hotel was really old but it was a good experience during the stay.It was clean and traditional.but need to be maintain if possible. Location:we went Arima Onsen from KOBE,you have to go Kobe Sannomiya Station take...
As I booked hotels quite late, most Kobe hotels were full though I originally wanted to book a hotel near Sanomiya. But it turned out to be a good experience since the location is excellent, just minutes away from JR Kobe station by passing through the underground mail. The nearby is very quiet with walking distance to Harborland and Anpanman Museum. However I’ll still...
Hotel environment is really relaxing and reflects the tradition Japanese architecture, people are really welcoming. We were greeted by staff members in front of the hotel, then was brought to the cottage by a golf cart and someone was waiting for us there too! The cottage is like a house in the middle of Switzerland but Japan of course, so cute and private, very suit...
This was a great place to stay. While on Rokko Island in Kobe we visited Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. Kobe sites were 20 minutes away, Universal Studios were 25 minutes away. Kyoto and Nara were each 1 hour and 15 minutes away. The only minor glitch that we experienced was intermittent internet services. However, we never contacted the hotel to resolve, so I can't ...
The hotel is right at the center of Sannomiya, close to everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. The checked-in and out processes were swift and efficient. The room was clean and the amenities complete. However the room was a bit small (common in Japan hotels) with no cupboards for clothes nor luggages, just some hangers. The bed was a bit too soft and short f...
I traveled to Kobe for important meetings. It was a five days trip, and I've asked for a quiet room few weeks advanced. The room was perfect. As quiet as I needed. I barely heard sounds from the next door. The space and facilities are also better than the usual business hotel in Japan. I got enough space to open my luggage and the bath tub can even allow me to lie all ...
I really liked this hotel as the staff are very courteous and kind. Although the staff have limited English capabilities, they still try to understand what you are trying to convey and help in the best way possible. I only followed Google maps in locating hotel by foot and it was a very easy find though a bit far coming from Sannomiya station. The buffet breakfast offe...
My wife wanted to stay here because the breakfast is supposedly the best in Japan. The hotel is decent, kind of old in my opinion but if you like the Victorian style you will definitely like this place. The location is not the best but still within 7-10 mins walk from the station. The breakfast is good-great not sure about the best but it's different. They serve mo...
Room was decent size for the price and very clean. Kettle is horribly slow, but they provided free tea and coffee, mugs and bar fridge. Staff were friendly, but didn't speak good English and we stored our bags no problem. WIFI in room was excellent. JR Hyogo station has some cheap restaurants, a supermarket and good access to Sannomiya and Kobe since it is on the main...
My parents never takes onsen so it is difficult for them to stay here since they prefer private bathroom, but they have private bathroom upon request (so make sure you request them to the staff). The onsen, for me, is a killer. It is really relaxing and awesome after a long travel. The bathroom and facilities is really clean, and the welcome reception is incredible. Th...
Cheap places to stay in Kobe
The staff is so nice, passionately recommend so many cool places to see and go in Kobe. so if you do not have the plan or on ideas about Kobe, just stay here, the staff will show a lot of interesting things to do that you can go like local ppl usually do. and this hostel is cozy, clean, fair price, close the station and big market.
Staff were very friendly and spoke okay English. 5 min walk from Minatakoen Station. But is a pain to have to catch the subway to Sannomiya for JR lines or Shin-Kobe for the shinkansen. Costs 200-260 yen each way which can be annoying if you want to go to the city centre every day. There are no sights nearby this hostel. Takes 20-30 mins to walk to Kobe station and the...
highly recommended. I got to the hostel very late in the night because I took the wrong train. I tried to contact the hostel but couldn't send the email by agoda that night...I'm so touched that when I arrived at the midnight the staff is still waiting for me. The staff gave clean instructions about which facilities are where, and English conversation was understandabl...
This place is really good, I would like to share this place. This hostel is very recommended to everyone while you travel around kobe.
Very near to Kobe Sannomiya Stations. Short 10min walk. Exit E1, up one block, left at Lawsons, right at the carpark where you can see the green vertical signage. Level 2 is the baths and onsen. Has a sauna, hotpool AND a coldpool. Level 5 is a lounge with vending machines serving cup noodles, coffee, foodstuff. Equiped with microwave, ice cube machine and hotpot dis...
The hostel is near many sightseeing places, eating places and near to my favourite Kobe Port. Staff can speak English, and it's very nice and friendly, can be chats with each other's too. Would be considered here again, when I comeback to Kobe someday.
there's not a lot of hostels in kobe, i'll give you that. but the r2 hostel is pretty good. it is conveniently located: 5 minute walk from the main station. there's a lot of restaurants in the area. you will probably see them on your way from the station. there's even some cafés if you want to have breakfast here. the hostel itself is clean, the restrooms are ...
When I stayed, it appeared that I was either the only guest or 2-3 other guests where there but slept in different rooms from me. The hostel is a block from the Minatomotomachi, you can take the train from Shin-Kobe using the Seishin-Yamate line (it is underground). Very easy to travel there if you take the Shinkansen because you don't leave the station. The hostel is ...
You have to take private bus to the island(2000+yen go and back). This place located 3mins walk from bus stop, but the location is super far from any attractions(Sumoto, Garden, etc.), and local bus that take you to places on island are like 1hr frequent. The hotel is nice feel like house not hostel which is good, but the owner doesnt speak English at all, and not tr...
If you are going to Kobe, this is the best place to stay. Central location, 8 types of natural onsens, great staff, own restaurants, amenities complete, comfy and perfect capsule room. Best thing? SUPER SUPER AFFORDABLE! THEY EVEN HAVE A FREE SHUTTLE BUS
Near to subway
The hotel is also named as Hotel Kobe Shishuen, which is located very near to the Kobe Station, just about 5-10 minutes walking distance. The Kobe Harborland is also within the walking distance.
staff are nice and helpful, will definitely come back when I come to Kobe again :)
We were lucky enough to arrive on the hostel's opening night and so got to meet and celebrate with the owner and staff. All very friendly and went out of their way to help us & make our stay great. All spoke English to varying degrees, there seemed to be at least one of the staff at hand who spoke very good English, either way all were very patient when trying to under...

Located near Shin -Kobe and Motomachi stations this hotel offers efficient service typical of Japan. Great wifi but breakfast options limited.

We were driving to Kobe and made this booking last minute. Turns out, it is a Love Hotel. After the initial surprise and a few unusual room furnishings, we had a GREAT stay at the Hotel Fine Rokko. We stayed 2 nights and drove in to Kobe during the day. (If you do not have a car, do not stay here. It is not close to public transit.) We ate breakfast and dinner in our r...

The hostel is about 15min walking distance from the main Sannomiya's various stations. There are convenience shops nearby, as well as a public bath just next door. Lots of reasonable eating places. The host was very friendly and thoughtful, responses fast to enquiries too. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Kobe.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, although some did not speak english they still tried their best to help. Towels and soap is not provided automatically but you can help yourself to them if you want to for no charge. The place was clean and well maintained.
This was real professionally maintained hotel. Japan hotel rooms are usually small but I wont complain about it. The linen in rooms, furniture and entire hotel are very well arranged and maintained nearly 3 or 4 star hotel. It is within walking to JR Sannomiya station which connects to Osaka and Kyoto via direct JR trains while Shin Kobe is very close to this hotel via...

I have been to this hotel several times. When reserving a room with Agoda, one can get cheap prices, typically 5,000 Yen all inclusive, for a comfortable albeit small single bedroom. There is a small public bath on the 1st floor, and on the same floor, near the counter, there are free drinks available (coffee, tea, hot soup, juice) 24 hours a day. The hotel is located ...
Small little hotel tucked away in the middle of a block, but a true treasure just steps away from everything. Staff is exceptionally helpful, trying to make accommodations any way they can. Lobby lounge is open (with free coffee) for use after breakfast hours. Well maintained and clean, even in the hallways and elevators. Definite value

Hotel Plaza Kobe is a great value hotel but the location is a bit out of the way from sightseeing in Kobe Bay area and Sannomiya. We stayed there as we had some meetings elsewhere on Rokko Island so it was fine for this purpose. Rooms were standard compact Japanese size. Breakfast at the buffet was included and it had a great selection of both Western and Japanese cuis...
We had a decent stay at this hotel. The rooms were large and we had a great view over the city and the bridge, in the distance. The rooms were a bit tired but pleasant. We were excited about the gym but it turned out not to be free to people staying in the hotel. Breakfast was okay. The biggest downside is that the hotel is a very long way outside of Kobe. A plus i...
nice staff an good location that directly across from motomachi station and within easily walking distance to sannomiya. just one minutes walk to shopping street. the price was comparatively low with other hotels in kobe but the room was small.
Good place to stay, and this was the second time we are booking the same place. Location is a little off but is still good location to the food and shopping areas. This time, we are given a good location room which was facing the main Tor Street. Excellent! and also the good service given by the front desk ladies. One disappointment, never expected that we came across ...
Ariston hotel is located close to the Kobe international convention center, train station, malls and shops. The hotel has a coin laundry, ice dispenser and vending machine. . Staff are all friendly and accommodating. However, our room had worn out wallpaper and the breakfast buffet lacked variety.
Good: Friendly staff, large and spacious, big room, great breakfast. Bad: Black mold on air conditioner grille, no public bath, console very old--no outlets near bed.
good room quality and view. you can easily found kobe landscape through window. plus breakfast buffet was too luxurious
Due to booking mistakes made by the hotel, I got upgraded to hotel Arimasanso Gosho Bessho free of charge. The hotel Arimasanso Gosho Bessho is the same group of Hotel Hanakoyado but I pretty believe Gosho Bessho is the highest rank hotels in the group and probably one of the top hotels in Arime. There are just around 10 rooms in Gosho Bessho, with dedicated staffs se...
Maiko hotel is located near maiko station located at the far west which is more like a old folks town where everyone is retiring and taking things slow n easy. Once inside the room you would be greeted with great view of Akashi-k...
The ryokan was not as nice as the photos. It wasn't the same as promoted at all. Normally it will appears slightly different but this too my surprised it was totally different. It wasn't located right in front of the beach. You basically have to cross a street to get to the beach which it's not in the picture. Thats not the main point. The Japanese room was fully booke...
The food they offered for dinner and breakfast were exceptional, it was definitely one of the best meal we have had. The hotel is located quite far from train station, but they offer pick up service from station to the hotel so it is very convenient to get there. Highly recommend this hotel!
Shower not good
The good - Wonderful views, good onsen, and perfect foods. English is poor, but they do have one can speak Chinese, so communication is ok. Area for improvement - there is 1000 yen charge for breakfast buffet even my daughter (three year old) didn't attend the breakfast. - Room is a bit old. They need some renovation. Private onsen is renovated and new which...
While this hotel has some dated room and newer renovated room as well. The slow pace that this hotel offers is unmatched to most hotel in cities. This place is a good getaway for 2 nights. The great thing about this hotel is that it is located away from the hustle and bustle of Kobe, but packs in one of the greatest views. I like that it is near the sea and is a few minutes walk from a sandy beach which is rare.

For sure will come back again!
This hotel was tucked away up in Arima Onsen town and we decided to spend just a night here to recharge our batteries and get some real traditional Japanese hospitality and onsen experiences. I am a solo traveller and the hotel offers single room so that I dont need to pay for a room for 2 people but enjoy the onsen. About onsen: the hotel is actually combined with another hotel under same brand (Located on each side of the river) so in total 3 onsen facilities with 2 outdoor onsens which were great. Also you can view the river and sakura from the ...
The sea view room, possibly facing Kobe, could allow us enjoying the sun rise. It's just marvellous when we were seeing the darkness on the mega-fair-face-concrete structure, designed by the famous Japanese Architect, Tadao Ando, being faded out by the sunshine.
Loved the beautiful building. The room was spacious for a Japan hotel and the location is also pretty good.
the ana crowne plaza hotel kobe is connected by a covered walkway to the kobe shinkensen (bullet train) station. it is also connected to a subway station a few floors below the surface and to shops and restaurants. the hotel is beautiful inside and out and located at a higher elevation looking down on kobe and just next to the mountains. i had beautiful views of the c...
Excellent hotel! The hotel is located slightly away from Arima town centre and is about 15 mins walking distance from the train station, but you can always get the hotel to pick you up. We had a great stay at Yumekaiyu Awajishima Resort. They were very accommodating to our family and gave us recommendations and answered our questions in English since we have limited Japanese. One of the high points of my trip. A beautiful older hotel with multiple hot springs (segregated, switching sides daily) including indoor and outdoor infinity pools on the top floor, sauna, then two outdoor pools one of which has very high mineral content unfiltered seabed hot spring water that is good for the skin, and another hot spring on the first floor I didn't ev...
We have been staying in more than ten onsen hotels, and we have the most wonderful and happiest experience in this hotel.
