"A lovely stay in a comfortable hotel. The city of Jerusalem is amazing and the Eldan was the perfect place to return to each night as a sanctuary. It is also in a wonderful location, diagonally across from The King David Hotel and across the street from the most beautiful YMCA I have ever seen. It was a nice walk down to Mamilla Shopping Mall, with some nice restaurants. The Eldan's furnishings were just a step above adequate, but the staff was outstanding! We got back late one night from a journey to Israel's North and we were completely exhausted but also very hungry. Dining hours had finished, but the Eldan staff still went the extra mile and put together a very nice dinner for us so that we didn't have to go out again. We were so grateful! Would definitely come back to the Eldan whenever we return to Jerusalem, and that is the best compliment I can think of!"

"My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night and were so sorry we didn't have a chance to continue our stay there (it was our last night in Hanoi). The staff was so kind and professional, the breakfast was very tasty and varied. At every stage we met with the staff we received an incredible treat! The room was spacious and clean, the room space had a great smell .. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a high standard of hospitality at this hotel."

"The Commodore is a great hotel at the foot of Jerusalem's old town - walking distance to Damascus gate is about 15 minutes. Our room was nicely furnished in an "international hotel" way, the bathroom was well equipped and modern. Housekeeping was very good, the room was really clean. The hotel offers a good breakfast buffet (lots of fresh cheeses, salads, humus etc., also sufficient continental style breakfast items) and free parking in the street in front of the hotel. I felt it was safe to leave our rental car there overnight. The area in general felt very safe to me. If you've never been to East Jerusalem before, don't fear any problems, there weren't any. The area felt just like any other please in Israel, although a little more Arab. "

"This is in a very convenient location, i.e right next to the new gate to the old city Jerusalem. The exterior looks fancy, and has a roof-top terrace where you can see the old city. The hotel room was clean. The staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was great with plenty of choices. The room was similar to those in a high-end 3-star hotel or low-end 4-star hotel you find in the U.S (this may be a general case in Israel): (1) the bath room was very small, hard to turn around; (2) bed has cheap mattress which was not very comfortable; (3) furniture were simple and torn out. "At one time this was a great hotel but it has not been maintained for many years. I changed rooms three times in a two night stay. Toilet blocked twice, faucet handle fell off and air conditioning didn't work. Had to open the window. They turn off the air con in the hottest part of the day (go figure). Sign on window glass said "Lock window and put pole in place". Lock was missing and no pole! One of the most amazing aspects is that one has to lug suitcases up three (short) flights of steps just to get to reception. Buffet dinner was ordinary. Getting ice was a bit of a chore (maybe just my accent). Staff very good but operating under adversity"

"Well I have to say it is a little disappointing in that the facilities in the room look quite cheap. The single room is in the basement which is fine in itself but the wifi is too weak to be useful. Bed and hot water are okay but the shower space is very small. Jerusalem is an expensive city so this more or less works for me, but do not expect the comfort that is usually associated with an apartment."

"Although I had stayed in several Jerusalem hotels before, I was concerned about staying in this one. It is close to the Central Bus Station, an area with which I was unfamiliar, and it used to be a run-down looking place. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a clean room and a desk clerk who was able and willing to answer all my questions in Hebrew, Russian and English. I will certainly consider staying here again, particularly if I have to do intercity travel within Israel."
