Hoedspruit hotels & places to stay

Staff is well trained, very efficient. Lovely people, everybody made us feel so welcome. The Chef's food was wonderful. The place is busy all the time, but somehow they keep the premises in tip top shape at all times. Don't know when the staff cleans, it's like fairies with magic wands. When you turn your back, its clean. Lost of wild animals to see. Had a lovely time, thank you everyone.

This is a fantastic experience. It's more than a hotel - it's an holiday with a difference. The package includes two safari type trips around the game park (morning and afternoon), all your meals and accommodation. The accommodation is excellent. We were treated to a BBQ type meal in the evening, which was social. The staff did an African dance which was fun. All in all an excellent place to spend the weekend.

Excellent stay at Chisomo Safari Camp. Glamping in tent rooms with hot showers and a good spread of food at meal times. The guides were particularly helpful and damn good at their jobs. Do note that this is a private reserve and is next to Kruger National Park instead of being directly in it. The benefit of which there isn't too many people (and jeeps) on the trails at any one time.

For an all-inclusive lodge, it was worth the price not having to be charged for every meal and all the snacks and drinks from the mini bar. The staff were really friendly and aimed to please the guests. I appreciate the additional game drive at another game reserve since this one admitted to not having the "Big 5". Its guide Colin was very knowledgeable and I learned so much more than the "Big 5." Our room was really spacious and tastefully decorated. No expense was spared to make us feel pampered.

On the first night game drive, the game ranger was unprepared, as he did not have a spotlight, which was essential considering we were going on a night drive. We waited around for 15 minutes to get a spot light. Eventually we met up with the head game ranger who gave us a spotlight only to find out later that it did not work and caught on fire. Thus had to return back early because we could not see anything. The following morning we had another issue with the same game ranger, as we were the only people who did not get blankets. This is unacceptable, as the morning game drives are extremely cold. This was extremely dissapointing especially because we booked at Karongwe to go on amazing game drives, however our first 2 game drives were unprofessional and definitely not up to standard. After complaining, we were upgraded to the presidential suite and got a much more knowledgeable game ranger which made our last night at Karongwe a much better experience.

We arrived late at umVangati House after our SAA Express flight was cancelled, but they still went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful dinner! It was only the next morning when we fully realized just how fantastic the property and it‘s location is. The staff went out of their way during the 2 days we were there to make us feel at home and make the most of the Blyde River Canyon area. Our car was covered in dead bugs after the late drive in, but we found the windscreen washed the first morning and on our departure day the whole car was magically clean. You can see wildlife at a watering hole from the house‘s deck and the small infinity pool at the hotel is perfect. One of the best rooms we‘ve been in and the homemade cookies were delicious! Just go and stay there as part of any SA trip.

The accomodation and surroundings were very relaxing. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to accomodate us, even taking us to town and back for grocery shopping, as we didn't have a car. The pool was nice, but the weather didn't allow us to fully enjoy it. It was a little paradise away from home, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks so much for your hospitality. What an amazing place this is. We stayed in a tent and it was OK, everything that you need is there. Even an air conditioning machine! Unfortunately, at night there was a big storm and it felt like the walls of our tent could be ripped out every minute. We didn’t sleep at all for 3 days.... but that’s nature. The view is spectacular. The restaurant is horrible, please buy your own breakfast and eat it at your campspot.

We stayed at this resort because of our flight from Hoedspruit. We were really surprised to find such a nice and quit place in the middle of the bush. The lodge is situated in the middle of a parc, where you can find als sorts of animals like giraffes, impala's and zebra's. The resort has fantastic gardens! You really feel very quit and alone there. Food was nice as well, but it is a set menu, so not a lot to choose from. The rooms are very large and clean.

this place is underated, its has to be more than 5stars. if your looking for heaven in Hoedspruit, this is the place. the staff always wear a smile that will make you feel at home, they are accomodating and friendly. Yvette, the manager/owner of the place is the nicest person we've met in South Africa, she made our stay smooth, stress free and worth coming back. She organized everything for us, and she chose the best activity we can have. Thank you bushbaby river lodge!!! we had an amazing time

Picturesque mountains in background, rather romantic setting although the windows fixed mosquito netting was showing signs of age. The neighbouring accomodation had a group of youngsters who were drinking and playing music which would have disturbed us if it had been any louder and we were not so tired. Luckily it was ok. The evening meal in the restaurant area was superb home cooking (we were actually on our own) and breakfast was good with a family of mongoose visiting the garden outside which was a delight. The reserve guide doubled up as a waiter and was so kind to us, it was amazing. Without notice, we asked to visit the Hippo pool before leaving and as it was not busy, we were taken just the two of us and were able to get out by the waters edge and photo from ground level. It was a wonderful visit. We only stayed one night as we were booked elsewhere but there was no general internet this night, although the guide gave us a hotspot from his phone for our urgent needs.
