Haiphong hotels & places to stay

We enjoyed our stay at Draco. We stayed in a room with a view overlooking the river and cranes that load/unload cargo from large ships. Despite the activity below, it was fairly quiet and we slept well on the comfortable bed. Our early January visit is a slow time of year for hotels in this part of Vietnam, and we felt like we almost had the entire hotel to ourselves. Staff performance was excellent, as one would expect during periods of low occupancy. The Draco is near the docks that service the fast (1-hour) boat going to Cat Ba island, which we did after visiting Draco. There are some good restaurants and cafes about a 5- to 10-minute walk from the hotel. We also enjoyed walks in the snake-shaped park along Tran Hung Dao street. The park is edged by large, smooth granite-slab walkways that enable many of the city's youths to enjoy using rollerblades and hoverboards provided by a rental company. When we visited Haiphong about 3 years ago, it was all rollerblades, but now all the kids are using hoverboards. Haiphong is a highly industrialized port city, and the main road between Hanoi and Haiphong is a prime example of this. The roadsides are ugly, although there are some beautiful buildings along that road. It gets dangerous at night because the road is poorly illuminated and there are lots of people trying to cross the road. Unfortunately, this is the kind of image that shapes many people's perception of Haiphong. There are some nice parts of Haiphong that are worth visiting. The Draco helps make its neighborhood into one of those places.

We spent two weeks at Somerset Central TD Haiphong and loved it! The rooms are tastefully decorated, in addition to large sizes and fantastic views of Haiphong. We used the gym everyday. The gym is better than most hotel gyms in Vietnam. The front desk staff and the housekeeping staff are professional and attentive. We appreciate the clean apartment everyday! We enjoyed the diverse choices of Haiphong specialties offered by the numerous restaurants located just outside the hotel gate. Highly recommend the hotel.

Our stay here was pleasant even if the resort and hotel facilities are still being worked on. Soon this will be a great place to visit with children as the local waterpark is being refurbished and will be opening soon. The waterpark is only about 300 meters away and is massive, such a shame it was shut whilst we were there. The hotel is nice and the staff were friendly, just be warned they are not fluent in English so you may have a few slight misunderstandings on your stay but these are easy enough to iron out.

I had a very pleasant stay at The Mercure. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Staff were more than friendly and always helpful. The restaurant served a great lunch (I never tried the breakfast). After several months in Vietnam, it was a refreshing change to find a western menu with well prepared dishes, and a pretty good wine list. I will have no problem staying here again on my next visit to Haiphong.

I enjoyed very much during the 2 nites stay in Haiphong - staff Mr Phuong, Mr Trung, Ms Dung & Ms Phuong go above and beyond to help me feel at home. They took the initiative to suggest places to go and eat, offered to take me to pier for the boat ride to Catba and to pick upon return. Their ability to speak in reasonably good English help me tremendously to communicate with each other. The staff are also very friendly, polite and resourceful to help me during my stay. I stayed in 3 different hotels during my 1 week trip in Hanoi/Haiphong and by far, this is the most comfortable hotel. I would recommend any one who is intransit to Catba to stay at this place due to its very staff, comfortable room and great location close to Ben Binh pier. I want to recognise the front desk staff especially Mr Phuong, Mr Trung, Ms Dung and Ms Phuong and the hotel management for making my stay there memorable and enjoyable. Thank you.

I left after 1 night even though I paid for 2. The weather was not good which meant I couldn't make use of pool/beach. Breakfast was really bad compared to the other places in Vietnam I stayed (I stayed at 5 other hotels in 10 days). There was no information provided about where to get breakfast or what there was to do when we arrived to check in. We asked if there was any printed information about the resort but there wasn't. It was only the helpful electric car driver who was able to offer some info (in Vietnamese) to us. Reception staff didn't bother to ascertain why we wanted to leave early after having paid for 2 nights at even though we told them we didn't like it. The resort is not complete as yet but it would make sense to ensurt that their guests enjoy their stay as reputation is what will bring business when the resort is fully functioning. The bungalow we booked specified that a twin room would be available but we were given a double bed and advised that there were no twins offered on the resort. I may have stayed if the weather had been better and suffered the food and service but decided that it wasn't worth it. The nearest cashpoint in 20k away and although reception advised that we could use cards, this was not the case in the restaurant. There's not much to do nearby and the staff in the restaurant spoke no English at all and the menu's were in Vietnamese , we got by as we speak some Vietnamese but just about. I wouldn't recommend the resort unless it is purely as a retreat to sunbathe. You will need to go with enough cash and food/drink supplies for your room.

This is one of the hotels that I'm probably going to always stay while in Haiphong. All the staff were very friendly and helpful even tried to help me find my transportation to Hanoi to catch my flight there. Cleanliness all over the place was impeccable. While Haiphong is about 1+ hours away from Halong bay, tour to it where very much available at a reasonable rate that will be similar to what you're going to pay for a room in Halong Bay. I prefer quietness of Haiphong over the "touristy" area of Halong city.

We were pleased that we had chosen to stay at Classic Hoang Long Hotel, where we were warmly greeted upon our arrival. The reception staff were welcoming with bright smiles and help in getting us to our room. We highly recommend this hotel for its proximity to the Opera House and easy walking to other points of interest in Hai Phong. The breakfast meal was made fresh to order after a comfortable sleep in a Q bed in large room, prepared us for the new day. Thank you all of the team at Classic Hoang Long Hotel for making our stay so pleasant.

What a great place to spend a golf holiday. Weather/temperature is perfect. Golf course is very good. There's an executive 9-hole course where you can always use an exercise/walk, and there's a championship 18-hole course to enjoy and challenge yourself and indulge on great sceneries (river, lakes, landscapes, limestone cliffs/hills and mountains from afar). Plus there are carts you can use for a 27-hole extravaganza or if you don't feel like walking/exercising. Food is great, and the hotel rooms are nice and roomy. There's a mini-kitchen with electric stove, small dining table, bathtub, balcony we a view of everything--golf course, river, mountains and cliffs, pool... And most of all, temperature is perfect!

haiphong is a lovely city and hoang hai hotel is a lovely place to stay. breakfast buffet offers many choices and plenty to eat, including eggs cooked to order and pho noodle soup. room was comfortable, with refrigerator, air con, cable tv, and a very nice bathroom with proper tub/shower. the wifi was off, frequently, unfortunately thanks to some repair work in the hotel. maybe not a future problem but definitely a problem for me on this stay. front desk staff was willing to answer questions, but not all that friendly. still, a very enjoyable visit.

Very central location in Haiphong. If you're luggage isn't too heavy, it is walkable from Ga Haiphong (the Haiphong railway station), about 5 to 7 minutes. Plenty of restaurants and comparatively simple outdoor eating and drinking establishments in the immediate area. Also walking distance to the Ben Binh (ferry terminal) - about 15 minutes - where the ferries for Cat Ba Island depart. The hotel doesn't pretend to be fancy, is a no-frills business traveller hotel. Choice of Asian/European style breakfasts. The room cleaning staff, while helpful and friendly, are seemingly unaware of how noisy they sometimes are. One day two of them were "chatting" while doing the rooms. One of them in a room at one end of the hall, the other in a room two doors down. They had the doors open so they could holler to each other. Mind you, the whole country has a much higher tolerance for noise than is the norm in Europe,North America and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. All in all, I deem the Bao Anh Hotel a very acceptable base from which to explore the city.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I needed some rest and this was a good place for it. The room was really comfortable. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest but it was fine and there was consistent hot water. It was the end of Jan-beginning of Feb when I stayed here and this hotel-like other places I noticed at this time- have condensation all over the floors and walls so its wet and slippery in the hotel. But not in the bedroom. I had my own space, I wasn't disturbed ..and again-the room was spacious, i had a wardrobe and nice tv on the wall, desk. The furnishings were very nice and it was all nicely decorated. Comfortable bed. Good wifi. I sat and watched Netflix with no internet problems. I had a brilliant heater in my room- the kind thats tall and acts as a light aswell if you've ever come across them. It kept me toasty! So for me, it was perfect!
