"I came to Daisen-cho as a hiker to Mt. Daisen and arrived via bus. For those who aren't using cars, the hotel is a 15 minute walk uphill from the tourism center - not terrible, but can be eerie at night. In fact, the hotel owner start drove out to come find me! Settling in he attended to my many questions. I ordered breakfast and dinner for the day after, and he helped accommodate with the help of some Google Translate and pictures. Grateful for the help. The room and facilities are nice and sturdy, though a bit dated. The public baths are well equipped and available at suitable hours. Meals were reasonably priced and delicious! The hike went well from this awesome home base. The town during the weekday and summer is a lot emptier, but it adds to its serene qualities. At the end of my stay, the hotel owner dropped me off at the bus station. Amazing, and many thanks!"
