Great location, saw so much wildlife within minutes not even needing to leave the hotel. Really clean, staff very helpful even when things didn’t go to plan. A few mosquitos as it had just rained but the jungle chalet was so clean and the mosquito net around the bed was clean and even pretty looking. My husband and I stayed for two nights and had an amazing safari booked separately (recommend this! @campleaopard). Food was good, recommend the buffet (there was a long wait for food at the al la carte, and when you have to get up at 0500 am for a morning safari this is an issue!) great drinks. Recommend the rooftop bar for a beautiful sunset. Would definitely come again.

Very nice hotel with professional staff”
We have been at 7 hotels during our stay in Sri Lanka and this was probably the best one. Very professional staff always making sure you are ok and enjoying your trip. Good english, we felt very secure here (guards everywhere, security checkpoints on the road to the hotel..) We could see a lot of monkeys around the pool area when the sun went down. We could see many crocodiles 50 meters from the pool area which was really cool. You also get to see buffalos from the pool area. When it's dark outside you have to be escorted by the staff to your room/bungalow due to wild animals. You also get to walk to the beach but at your own risk. No swimming though. If you are going to the safari, don't expect to see leopards. We didn't see any (nobody did), and we were actually a bit disappointed. We saw some elephants but they were in a distance. Safari drivers also rush to the same spots when they see something. Most of the times we saw buffalos and crocodiles, but we could see them from the hotel anyway.. we also saw eagles, different birds.. well yeah.. Order through Ceylon Safaris, they give half price compared to the hotel. The best experience was to see monkeys all over the pool area, and the crocodiles by the lake nearby. If you want that, and a safe hotel, then this is definitely recommended!

Lovely hotel to enjoy the wildlife with excellent service”
If you plan to visit Yala National Park, this is an excellent base. It is very close to the park and the hotel itself is surrounded by wildlife, which can get a bit too close for comfort as we realised when a crocodile was just a few yards from us. Service is extremely friendly nd attentive and rooms comfortable but lighting could do with some attention as difficult to see anything in the room. Buffet breakfast was very good but the a la crate dinner was a bit disappointing. Overall I would recommend and return if visiting Yala again.

The resort was amazing! The little bungalows were so cute, the pool was a plus bc it was so hot out! Love that it’s right by the watering hole : we have water buffalo, monkeys, hogs and wild dogs all around us hanging out. We did the safari, which was additional $, but we were able to see a leopard which was our main goal - we also saw elephants, peacocks, birds, hogs, water buffalo only thing we didn’t see was the sloth bear. Recommend doing the morning safari bc the afternoon one is so hot the animals are already hiding in shade and not moving much! The food was really delicious at the resort as well!

This would be my 4th time staying at Cinnamon Wild Yala, and i have enjoyed it more and more with every visit. The staff is very friendly and quick to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. The ambiance and the food is amazing and the safari which was organised by the hotel was enjoyable. Definitely recommend the place!

Lovely hotel...but very disorganised!”
Good location for Yala. Nice swimming pool and clean, comfortable rooms. The staff were very friendly, but service was incredibly slow, with mix ups related to food and things taking a long time to come. We were at first given the wrong room time (twin beds) despite asking for a large bed. It seems as though the hotel doesn't have enough staff and/or staff training. Perhaps this is related to Covid. I would still stay here again as I enjoyed the ambiance, facilities and friendliness of staff.

Nice Jungle Bungalow. Food was good absolutely chaotic staff in the restaurant. Although driver accomodation was booked it was originally denied upon arrival and we had to wait around for an hour until they finally accommodated him. Excellent packed breakfast for the safari!

Luxury in the Wilderness”
We stayed for 2 nights, booked on the spur of the moment seeing a flash sale on Agoda. We couldn't have been happier with our Jungle Cabin - it was spacious, comfortable, well designed and they have thought of almost every little detail. From the mosquito plug-in to the huge umbrellas waiting by the door, these little touches made our stay. The open plan reception and communal areas of the hotel are beautifully decorated and inviting and the pool/bar area overlooking the lake filled with crocs and water buffalo is immaculately kept, even after a torrential downpour! The cabins are scattered through the woodland so the only intrusions to your peace and quiet are the monkeys jumping on your roof. The dinner buffet is vast and varied with a huge range of delicious Sri Lankan and International dishes, and the wine list is very reasonable. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate any request and were always on hand to escort you after dark and shoo buffalo from the doorstep. The gates into Yala National Park are just a few minutes from the hotel so you maximise safari time and arrive before the park gets crowded. I'd recommend Cinnamon Wild Yala to anyone - a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings.

Best in the neighbourhood”
We were visiting the Yala National Park and we were impressed by the wonderful reviews given to Cinnamon Wild Yala.. and it certainly did not disappoint. For 2 nights, we were treated to exceptional service, comfortable rooms (think oasis within a desert), clean and high quality food served at both the bar and the restaurant. There was a nice pool as well. For those who are looking for a off-the-beaten-track exeprience, cinnamon is the place for u. you will be very close to wildlife, alligators, monkeys, squirrels, elephants.. but you will be safe, of course. The only difficulty we had was the transport there, would be great if the resort could provide airport transfer, or at least transfer from colombo. we hired a driver and it took us 6 hours by car to get there. Not sure if the driver took the wrong way, or if would be better to fly to a nearby airport at mattala (flight timings are limited).

Enjoyable and relaxing”
We only stayed in Cinnamon Wild for 1 night. Its one of the most popular hotels in Yala National Park so it is packed with groups and tourists from all over. If you are not into that, you better skip it! You are surrounded by nature and animal so it is very relaxing. It is located in the middle of the National Park so it was convenient to start a Safari from there (you can book at the hotel or anywhere else around it). The hotel gave a room free of charge to our driver - which is quite common in Sri Lanka - and a discount on the food. You are advised not to leave your room alone after 6pm to avoid encountering wild animals. The food.. International Buffet for dinner. Not great but good enough. It is the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka though. I believe it is because of Yala being one of the most popular tourist spots in the country.
